Whenever I go to Tinker Street it's always an experience. The restaurant has such a warm atmosphere, and the lighting is just perfectly aesthetic. When you get to your seat at Tinker Street, they provide you with a little glass of champagne and go over what you're drinking. They have a lot of options for drinks and wines. The menu changes a lot so you probably won't ever get the same thing twice. They have a variety of options and a lot of food that I end up having to look up. I like that experience when I am eating because it challenges me to try different foods. I am willing to look past some ingredients that may not usually interest me because the combinations never miss. For me Tinker Street is fine dining. The meals and drinks are priced higher than most places in Indy, but I believe it's worth every penny. The service may not be that close to fine dining but the food and the quality of the ingredients really speak to the care and thought that goes into crafting these meals. read more

A real hidden gem in Indianapolis! This place is so small that you might miss it but the flavors are huge!! Came here with a few friends to enjoy a few drinks. The minute we walked in we were warmly greeted and seated. Our server was very patient and kind as we looked over the menu. I quickly ordered the Roku cocktail and a dish of oysters for the table. Let's start with the oysters, they were definitely different than your typical oysters with a dash of blueberry flavor. Regardless, very clean and fresh oysters considering we live in Indiana! Now for the drink, very interesting flavor profile. Great gin to earthy-ness ratio. The seaweed was a nice touch. We celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary here as our kids surprised us with a gift card. We found (I think) the street parking spot so maybe Uber it if you can. The 'toast' champagne they give you is a nice touch and service was fairly slow but very friendly. We ordered the whipped ricotta as an appetizer (more than two can eat in my opinion) and then I had the mushroom pierogi as my entrée and my husband had the Korean short rib pasta. Both meals were very tasty and super filling. It was very tight quarters as this place is super popular and it was a Friday night so just expect to need to be friendly with your neighbors, lol. It appears there were a couple IndyCar drivers partaking in the restaurant food, so there were a couple McLarens parked out front, which was kind of cool. They've got a great unique concept here and if we lived locally, we would be back. I really liked the offering of the orange Pinot Grigio from Italy, very tasty! This is the coziest little neighborhood foodie spot. I love sitting on the porch in the summer and inside the teeny tiny dining room or bar in the winter. Start with the complimentary bubbles toast and then try something off their wonderful cocktail or wine list. Every time I go, everything is scrumptious and at least one dish totally wows me. Last time it was homemade pasta in broth I wanted to drink up and a sauce for scallops that was full of a unique rosemary flavor and just incredible. You have got to end with ricotta doughnuts! I like drinks that are a little boozy with a hint of sweet and or sour and this made my tastebuds sing! But let's get to this 10th anniversary menu... my favorite by far was the tuna tataki and honestly I loved it so much that I mainly am making this post so that I can petition that they keep this on the menu like wow! Tuna lovers this is our dish! Okay now I did get something on the traditional menu just so I could try something I know could be there when I get back and that's the mushroom stroganoff... but do yourself a favor and add the steak... first of all... it's plenty of food for two! Or plenty of food for today and tomorrow and the flavors are enchanting. Like the mushroom stroganoff is an awesome dish on its own... but idk if I can ever order it without steak now! In closing I ordered a 10th anniversary special dessert which was the Paris Brest. So light and delicious! Which I needed a light dessert after all I had for dinner! We love Tinker Street! Came by for our first Thursday burger night and it did not disappoint. The welcome toast is always a nice touch, and the service was excellent as usual. We had high hopes for Tinker Street, they seemed to have an elegant menu and what looked to be a variety of drinks. The menu was a little all over the place from curry shrimp to oysters, and some random appetizers. Not a set theme. The food was very inconsistent, our peaches in our Burrata were not ripe and the dish was very bland as such. Overall it could have been good but fell short. Our main was the curry shrimp which just didn't seem to go with our drinks or the appetizer. The drinks looked upscale and nice, we enjoyed that they offered a variety of unique mocktails. I do think that the finished of the drinks could be improved upon such as offering smoked beverages and elevating the garnishes. Overall I feel it was overpriced and did not give off the upscale vibe that it appeared online. read more

We visited Indy for a weekend and heard so much about this place! There were several vegetarian options which was great! The whipped ricotta was SO good. The entrees were an interesting mix of flavors. We got the mushroom hot pot and sweet potato sachhetoni. Unfortunately the hot pot was really bland and kind of difficult to eat. The pasta was good, tasted like a plate of thanksgiving because of the sweet potato filling and cranberry sauce. The star for us was the peanut parfait dessert, hard to believe it's vegan! I would recommend apps and dessert. They also had an extensive wine list and a sommelier walking around if you had questions. I'm 7 months pregnant and they had an alcohol removed red wine! It was sweet but I appreciated the option! The place is small and part indoor part outdoor no matter the weather. OMG, I don't know where to start, EVERYTHING about our experience was SO good! There were 3 of us for dinner. We arrived early for our reservation and we were sat right away. We should have requested a table indoors because it was quite hot for a couple of people from the north (Maine & Michigan), but there was a breeze and the fans helped the air to move a bit. I had the cocktail of the day, cannot remember the name of it, but it gin and it was delicious. We had quite the spread of starters: Fried Brussel Sprouts, half dozen oysters, Korean fried mushrooms, the soup of the day - chilled roasted red pepper, asparagus salad and the beet salad. All of it was incredible. For me personally, the fried brussels sprouts were my favorite. For our large plates we had the duck and dumplings, the sirloin and the scallop and scallion risotto. Everybody loved their entrées. I had the scallop and scallion risotto - it was incredible. Everything was cooked perfectly. For dessert, we had the ricotta donuts. We split an order of four between the three of us, but I could've easily eaten a plate myself. They were so good. All of that being said, the highlight was our server. She was one of the best I've had in a really long time. I feel like an absolute jerk for not remembering her name. She was petite with a buzz cut and some great tattoos. I'm providing a description with hopes that someone at the restaurant sees this review and lets her know how awesome we thought she was - hopefully our tip showed her how awesome we thought she was. Of course we also told her. The gentleman who kept our glasses of water full all night was a delight, so kind. If we lived closer we would be in regularly. Wish I would have done this review while it was fresh but better late than never. Slipped into this place last time I was downtown Indy. If you love food and can appreciate meals that are exceptionally paired this is the place! Was a little apprehensive at first but they had me with the first spoonful of soup. I was so taken back by the main course "pork belly" I asked to compliment the chef personally and he was happy to accommodate. The owner made us feel like family and was happy to do so. After years of hearing about this place I finally made an appearance...but only for dessert. Two of my close friends love this place and rave about it all the time so I will need to come back for dinner sometime. We stopped in for drinks and dessert. Went here with a group of friends a few weeks ago. Located at the corner, this tiny gem has no parking so be prepared to walk or find parking on a random nearby street. We walked several blocks because we were going to a play but the neighborhood seemed fine and the weather was great. Friendly staff but be sure to make a reservation because this place is tiny. Overall, I think everyone should try this place. They have a great varied menu but it is not cheap. I got to sample so many items because there were 7 of use but my bill, which was one cocktail, half an appetizer and an entree was almost 90 with tip. The pictures I took show their lovely presentation of food. The mushrooms and brussels were amazing. The pasta, the shrimp all great. The French fries - meh. You have to get the Korean Fried Mushrooms. These were outstanding and one of my favorite appetizers anywhere I've been. Even my husband who isn't a big fan of mushrooms loved these. For my entrée, I got the Eggplant & Tofu Baba Ganoush. It was really good as well, but came with A LOT of snap peas. I love snap peas, but it seemed like that portion was disproportionate to the other food on the plate. Just a small complaint. I had a couple of dirty martinis, which were perfectly made. I loved the charming atmosphere of this small restaurant, and will happily return to try more of the menu. read more

Amazing, amazing amazing! Such a great little gem of a restaurant in a fun area of town. The food was great but what stood out to me was the service and the wine list. We ordered a bottle of a well priced Willamette Valley pinot noir that was excellent. I liked it so much that I took a picture of the label to be able to purchase it at a local wine shop. We asked the server about the bread pudding as we typically try it everywhere we go. We were torn to try the signature dessert (doughnuts) or the bread pudding and decided we had to try both. The server was so kind and ended up comping our dessert in the idea that we were "taste testing" the menu and it needed to be done for "scientific reasons." One of my favorite restaurants in the city! My husband and I love sharing a bunch of small plates so we get to try different things and this place is perfect for that! It has such a cozy and quaint vibe. They start you off with complimentary sparkling wine served by the sommelier, which is a nice touch. The cocktails are great. They have a rotating menu, which is great to try new things, but man does it stink when you find a dish that you love haha. I do believe their soup is always vegan, which is a nice touch for those who are vegan haha. We started off with the whipped ricotta, oysters, and Takoyaki which were all pretty good. Granted, the Takoyaki didn't compare to what we had in Japan, but it was a pretty good try for a restaurant in the middle of Indiana haha. I had a dish that had white beans and shrimp and OMG was it delicious. I don't think I would have normally ordered something like this but I was glad I did. It's been at least 5 years since I have dined at Tinker Street, but everything was still great. I see there are a lot more vegetarian/vegan options this go round. I think that's great this was an ideal choice since one of the people in my party was vegan. The actual restaurant is very small, but I see they have added covered/heated space since I last came. TLDR; We just had what was our favorite meal in Indy (and the Indy area) in the two years we have been living here. From the service (we had so many touch points by multiple people who worked there and they were all good) to the food it was an all-around excellent experience. Will be back and would highly recommend Tinker Street. To start: The Tinker toast is such a fun touch and although I am 9 months pregnant they had a solution so I could partake (ginger beer) which was very nice and appreciated. They also had a selection of non-alcoholic wines which was a nice surprise (the sparkling Rose was excellent, I didn't miss the alcohol at all) for this pregnant person's birthday celebration. We had the fried mushroom as an appetizer and agree with so many of the reviews. It was excellent. The dishes' combination of textures (fried, soft, crunchy, a little chew, etc) to the flavors (umami, salty, touch of sweetness, acidic, a hint of spice). Seriously an impressive dish, we ate every bite. For our mains, we went with the Duck and dumplings and the Korean Short Rib pasta. The duck was perfectly cooked and the dish as a whole was delicious. The short rib was on the saltier side but full of flavor (if I had one comment maybe just something small to cut the salt..maybe just a little fresh bread) but was still delicious, the pasta was perfect. For dessert, we went with the seasonal pumpkin creme brulee. Perfect amount of burnt (in a good way) sugar on top and the pepitas also added a nice crunch and a hint of spice. Flavors were great! Not too sweet, just right. The one thing my husband and I both thought was it would be nice if the 'creme' was a little warmer or room temp (I know maybe not traditional, it just felt with the pumpkin personally a little warmth would be good) instead of cold and, again because it's pumpkin, it wasn't very smooth. But those are just personal preferences, it was a good dessert. I could also see it being turned into an amazing bread pudding, but I digress. Next time (and there will be a next time!) we will try their popular ricotta donuts. But if you love pumpkin, this would be a good choice and who doesn't love a seasonal dessert?? All in all, we will go back with every excuse we have (and we live 40 min away) and will be recommending Tinker to others as well. read more

Cute restaurant near downtown Indy. The food here always rotates and they use fresh in season ingredients. My fav when I visited was the corn tamale, it was super flavorful and not a dry tamale. The fresh corn was delicious. I ordered a chicken plate that had saffron risotto. The risotto was delicious but the chicken was just okay. The matcha cake was very light and tasty as well. The service was okay compared to other times I've gone. My friend ordered a glass of wine that never came (she was not charged and she didn't ask for it again) and another drink that was ordered had to be asked for again. I have wanted to try this spot for quite sometime but when I drive by it is always crowded and I never thought to make a reservation until now. A girlfriend and I went on a Thursday at 5pm. There weren't many people there yet so I think they must open at 5 or close to it. We were greeted and sat right away. When you walk in you feel very fancy. Although it's just a small building they somehow pull off being cute, fancy, modern and comfortable all at the same time. Pretty impressive. They were also playing soulful music which I love. It was soft and only if you knew the songs would you probably even realize music was on. When we sat down we were in their outside/enclosed patio which is heated. They also have blankets on the chair in case you get chilled. Note, I am ALWAYS cold but the patio was perfect for me. We were first introduced by the person pouring the water and he came right over. Then we were provided sparkling champaign complementary for being a guest. Now that is nice! We ordered two of their seasonal cocktails and an appetizer, Brussels sprouts. Their menu is not your typical, it is very much a chef's kind of menu so you may not know exactly what to order because it's "different" but the choices were plentiful. I don't eat beef or pork so that limited my selection down some but I was able to find enough choices even with that limitation. I chose the Curry dish which was amazing. The service is good, everyone is very attentive, the pricing is a little expensive which is why the 4 starts instead of 5. I ordered a meal and one drink (my friend bought the sprouts and my bill came to $75 which included the tip which I think is pretty expensive for just one person. I will go back, again with a friend because if I bought my husband we would probably spend close to $200 which isn't a good value, or maybe just come for drinks because their drink menu alone looked incredible. read more

This restaurant feels very intimate, close seating, dim lighting with lots of natural light coming in. You are served champagne for your table complimentary, way to set the mood. Our entrees were Shrimp and Grits, Cauliflower Steak, Perk Belly, and the Center Cut Sirloin. The steak was delicious, every ingredient was well thought out and complimented one another. The shrimp and grits had a perfect kick with the shrimp bisque poured on top. My friend has a banana allergy so we got peanut butter ice cream with the Ricotta Doughnuts and it was the BEST substitute. read more
