What Just when we think we have dined at every restaurant in Sobro, we discover one we missed. Surrounded by other local favorites, Twenty Tap can easily blend into the strip, but I urge you to give it a try. We stopped in for dinner around 7 PM on a beautiful, sunny weeknight. Although we had to wait a little for a seat, they found us an outdoor table, which was perfect for people watching with all the busy restaurants nearby. The beer menu is impressive, with plenty of Indiana flavors alongside other great Midwest options. My husband and I shared the French breakfast burger and the Harissa Brussels sprouts,both dishes were so delicious that we've already made plans to return for more. The menu is full of options for flavor, not much for a picky eater so you should try somewhere else for your chicken stip fan. Food was delightful. Picky 10 had her standard pretzel. Mr. 13 had a classic burger with fries. He enjoyed it. I had the French Breakfast burger. It was excellent. I thought it had just the right amount of brie. It wasn't too thick or overpowering. Hubs said his sticky chicken sandwich was one of the best he's ever had. I also tried the Draft Flamingo cocktail. Inside wasn't anything too special. Was extremely busy because it was nice weather. Ended up getting seated after 30m wait. Waiter was very nice and attentive. We got a pretzel and burgers. The outside seating area was full when we walked up but when you get inside there is a bar area over to left and space on the right that has a good amount of booths. Both the Crispy Southern Chicken and the Sticky Chicken Sandwich are worth trying if you're into chicken sammies. The chicken is always juicy and tender with a crispy buttermilk crust deep fried to perfection. If you go sticky, you get a glaze of their house made sweet and spicy sauce and their wasabi slaw. The original chicken sandwich is dressed with a black pepper aioli and lettuce and tomato. Let me tell you, they pay attention to food details here because the bib lettuce is always fresh and the tomato slices are deliciously ripe and the sandwich is perfectly constructed so you get some of everything in every bite. French fries are always a solid side choice, but their house made soups are also very good! They have a nice variety of vegetarian and vegan dishes as well, which can be more difficult to find in Indy. So I always bring my vegetarian out of town friends here! As the name suggests, they have many beers on tap, and if you were ever a fan of Brugge's Tripel de Rippel, I highly suggest ordering the Twenty Below Tripel if it's on tap. Several people were waiting around outside for a table and I feared we may have to go somewhere else. We went inside to ask about the wait, but she said we could grab a table outside. It was about 47 out there, but they have an awesome overhead heater. Shortly after we were seated a girl brought us some waters and menu's, then our pretty cool waitress came out and took our order. The food really rocked and it was nice seating outside. My burger was the Genghis Kahn, and it was as large as he was in life. The over easy egg added a nice balance with everything else that was on it. Pacing myself with conversation and lots of water, I finished the sandwich, but failed to finish my soup side. This restaurant is a favorite of ours to patronize when we bring our toddler along with us. They have large booth seating, high chairs, patient wait staff and lots of food options for kids, including a kid's menu. We often go right at 5pm and the dining side of the building is full of families. My husband is a big fan of the french breakfast burger. It has bacon jam and brie, and shoestring fries on it.... so I can imagine it is delish! For me, I can't eat soft cheese at the moment or gluten, so I usually opt for a salad. The shrimp and grits are another option for those eating gluten-free. The turkey cobb salad is very filling and I am unable to eat all of it in one sitting. My daughter eats off of our plates. She is an adventurous eater so we rarely order off a kids menu at any restaurant. The staff brings her a paper cup of water with a straw. Hubs also likes dining here for the beer - a nice variety. I thoroughly enjoyed my first of what I'm sure will be man trips to Twenty Tap. It was a beautiful day and while in the area (and finding close parking, score!) I walked over. I was offered indoor or outdoor seating and since I didn't have a preference, was sat inside. There was a nice breeze and I could immediately tell there was a nice ambience. Everyone seemed so kind that worked there. My waitress was sweet my whole visit and I saw her letting people sample beer if they wanted to try something new. There's a huge draft list so that's really nice of them. I also heard someone order a flight of their own choices, really nice if you can't decide on one and don't want several full size drinks. I was excited to try the salmon BLT. I ordered it with fries and a side of ranch. My wait was not long and the sandwich was definitely large. I cut it in half and ended up removing the spinach. It had great flavor but was missing crunch. The salmon, tomato, cucumber, and even the fresh bread are very soft. The addition of red onion would be excellent, as well as a crunchier lettuce instead of spinach. Regardless, flavor was on point, especially the thinner parts of the teriyaki salmon which reminded me of bacon. It was messy, the white sauce was leaking from the bun, but I was given extra napkins without even having to ask. The fries were outstanding! They were crisp without being over-fried and dipped in the homemade ranch, wow. I would come back just for those. Homemade pickles are also served on the side, which had a strong garlic bite, enjoyable. This is a great Broad Ripple gem that anyone can enjoy - it is even kid friendly. read more

We went on Saturday afternoon for late brunch (lunch!). The atmosphere is great. There's a family friendly side and a bar side. We were seated in the bar side and both food and service were great. We opted for the highly recommended cheese curds (greasy yet delicious) with the homemade ranch (yum) creamy chimichurri, and curry ketchup (great acidity to compliment the cheese.... something marinara-esq would be a great addition). We also had the short rib grilled cheese. It was AMAZING. The cherry bourbon glaze and jalapeño marmalade were such a great addition. Just delicious! The pimento mac and cheese was unremarkable, but good. The Angus Kahn burger was great! Spicy. Perfectly seasoned. Perfectly cooked. And the fries-- wow! So crispy and seasoned. Twenty Tap is my favorite restaurant, if you measure "favorite" by quantity of visits and satisfied experiences. Maybe I'll go to somewhere more expensive or unique for a special occasion...but the number #1 answer to "where are we going to go for dinner?" on an average day is "20 Tap". It is in walking distance, the servers are lovely, the craft beer list always has something interesting, and the food quality and flavors are excellent. Since this is a re-review, here are my top "items of note" about 20 Tap since my last write-up: 1) SOUPS! The soups are so underrated, homemade, and always seasoned well. There's typically both a vegan/veggie and meaty option. I highly recommend ordering the soup, even if the flavors don't normally speak to you. I especially enjoy the cataplana (Portguese influenced soup w. chorizo & clams), chicken tarragon, and Thai red lentil stew. I even devour the buffalo chicken soup, which is a flavor profile I typically avoid; it's zingy and creamy, with a hint of celery...soooo good. 2) HACKS! Do you know you can add a side of salmon to the flavorful harissa brussel sprouts & goat cheese appetizer, and have a most delicious low carb meal? Mind blown! Our frequent friendly server Mason recommended it. 20 Tap is really flexible about meal modifications, as I frequently ask to de-bun sandwiches or add an egg to adhere to a lower-carb lifestyle...and they're always receptive to my order changes. 3) HOMEMADE! 20 Tap produces a lot of their sauces and sides in-house. I especially like the chipotle aioli, dill pickles w. coriander seeds, and house-pickled jalapeños. The extra care they put into creating their menu and concocting these flavor bombs, puts them way above other local brewpubs' menu offerings. 4) FAVES! I think I've tried every menu item, multiple times. My current favorites: 1) the spicy Angus Khan w. sambal goat cheese, gooey egg, jun-fan sauce, etc., 2) Turkey burger w. tomato jam, goat cheese & arugula, 3) harissa brussels with salmon added, and 4) spicy black bean burger with an egg added. In my past, more carb-filled days, I loved the vegan bahn mi, mushroom reuben, spicy Cuban, and cheese curds (drool). The fries are fantastic; just thin enough, browned, and salty; I still may sneak little fry nubs from my partner's plate, low carb or not. 5) VIBES! Imagine sitting on 20 Tap's front porch on a beautiful spring night, College Ave. traffic slowing down a bit, with a local sour beer in hand, while you people-watch with your neighbors and enjoy a beautiful plate of food. I always feel so grateful for 20 Tap's presence in our neighborhood, especially after they had to close down for months after a kitchen fire. We had heard things about this spot from a friend and decided to try it out, mostly because of the location and the vegan options. It was a nice night so we got the opportunity to sit outside on their front patio at a small two person table. I highly recommend it as it was fun to people watch and enjoy a quieter space. The waiter was helpful and even though they were super busy he was always on top of getting us what we needed. They had a sweet cider which was yummy from ash and elm. We got a cauliflower appetizer which was delightful! It was just the perfect combo with the sweetness of the cider. We also ordered beans and rice which were spicy but not overly the top. It was a purely vegan option and was so filling and amazingly full of a depth of flavor. We also got a vegan Reuben sandwich which was made of mushrooms for the meat and no cheese. Amazing! It was just the right texture and had the tang needed without overpowering the other flavors. I loved the sauerkraut and the mushrooms together and couldn't stop eating. The fires as a side were also very crispy and flavorful. This was a great spot to try and it is now on our list of go to places for that area. Definitely worth checking out! read more

They were nice and tender with a good sauce on them; it didn't matter to me that they weren't chicken as they were great!
