Sorry but we didn't eat here, stopped by for a drink. Didn't have anything on tap, didn't love that but they really have plenty of options, so all good! Inside is pretty cool to chill, all good there. We were here on a perfect spring weather night so sat outside. This is a big mistake for non-smokers, can't escape fast enough, just awful!!! Tucked back into the neighborhood by the monon, a big shaded patio that is dog friendly, they serve breakfast thu-sun till noon and the lunch/dinner menu the rest of the time. Plump's Last Shot is a very chill bar that's almost like a dive bar, but a dive bar that you can take your kids to during the day. There's something for everyone here! There also a huge wraparound patio, so you can order your drinks at the bar and take them outside to enjoy. And if you're lucky, they might have the fire pit going. I only visited for a drink, so I can't attest to the food. But the food looked very decently priced. A burger and fries was around $6, which seems decent in this economy. They also have things like chili, which seems like a strange thing to eat at a bar, but what do I know? They have a small selection of local craft beer, which is what I ordered. They didn't have any on tap, just in a can, but that was fine by me. The people around me were all ordering Michelob Ultras and Bud Lights, but this place also has a full bar with spirits and things. And wine, too! I didn't see the wine glasses until I had already ordered a beer, otherwise I would have been that lady who orders a glass of wine at a dive bar. It was kind of quiet when I visited -- I got there shortly after it opened, and there was only a couple of regulars there. Music was playing every so often, and a basketball game was on the TV. I didn't find this out until later, but the name of this place -- Plump's Last Shot -- comes from Bobby Plump, the owner who was a basketball player who inspired the film Hoosiers. So if you're a basketball fan or a fan of the movie Hoosiers, you need to visit! There is basketball memorabilia everywhere. read more

We stopped in after a walk on the Monon for a beer and snack. There's no table service so you order inside at the bar and someone brings it out. Music outside was good and not too loud. Got the regular burger (not the big bobby) Burger was big, juicy and well seasoned. Not a smash burger, it's served medium. Came with lettuce, raw onion, tomato, GREAT pickle slices and some chips in a basket. For $10, it was a surprisingly good burger! I took a star off for outdoor cleanliness. It was a beautiful day and when we arrived there were quite a few outdoor tables available but none of them had been cleared, litter on table and deck. Kinda eww. read more

We visited in a Sunday afternoon and spent the meal with a lovely bunch of regulars celebrating a birthday! You can tell this is a place with a cult following in the best way. The menu is not expansive, but what they do they do well. We were pleased to see full wings when they arrived at our table rather than just sections. My fiancé considers himself a tenderloin expert and rated this one an 8.5/10. Great place with a terrific, dog friendly patio located in Broadripple on Cornell Street across from Public Greens, down the street from Brics and next door to Rustic Moon. Street parking is located on both sides of Cornell Street. As you enter the patio grab a spot or head indoors. Indoors we just walked up to the bar and grabbed a menu and an adult beverage. We're not sure what procotol is for being seated but we got here early and just made it work. The shift was getting ready to change so we placed our food and drink order at the bar then grabbed a table indoor since it just started raining outside. The drinks are affordable with PBR pints ($3), Guinness ($6), Sunking ($6) or Seltzer Pints ($4). Nothing is on draft so it's either can or bottle. Domestics are $3, Premium $4.50 and Craft Beers range from $5-$7. Husband had an enjoyable Pachanga and I ordered a Margarita which was good. They are known for their enormous grilled or breaded tenderloins and their delicious burgers. My husband tried the Burger, without cheese, topped with l,t,o,p, and served with chips but he substituted fries for a $2 upcharge. I had the enormous grilled Tenderloin that I cut in half to fit my bun and topped with l,t,p, and grilled onion. I substituted onion rings for the chips. It was as tender as you could expect from a Tenderloin this thick. They also offer BBQ Pork sandwich ($10), a dozen jumbo wings ($10), quesadilla and fish and chips ($10). A kid's menu ($5) is offered with fingerloins or chicken tenders and carrots and tots. Plump's Last Shot is loud when there's a crowd, fun atmosphere and a great dog friendly patio with good service. I dragged my family there because I am a huge fan of the movie Hoosiers. This place is owned by the actual player they based the movie on, so there is cool memorabilia all over the walls. We were at first surprised that they didn't have any wait staff, everything had to be ordered at the bar, BUT the bartender was a true pro. He handled so many orders solo, I was impressed. The cheeseburger, wings, pork sandwich, onion rings and tater tots were all great and SUPER inexpensive. If you're looking for fancy maybe this isn't your place (based on previous reviews) but if you are a basketball fan looking for cold beers, cheap GOOD eats, this is a MUST if you are in Indianapolis in my opinion. read more

brown hair bartender on Saturday 3/8. I go every week with my dog. He barked maybe 3 times total saying hi to other dogs- those dogs sending a friendly bark back. A table of four left because she didn't bother to ask for their order for over 30 minutes. I went up to pay, she blamed it on my dog that they left. We decided to try this restaurant yesterday after reading all of these 'glowing reviews', as we love Broadripple, we are "Foodies" and love discovering new restaurant "Gems"... and let me say this WASN'T One of them! We ordered to take it out and after perusing the menu, my 82yr old husband re-climbed all those steps again, to place our order and wait for it. He ordered the Tenderloin Sandwuch and I got a Cheeseburger, we both got onion rings! The Tenderloin and Onion Tings were simply DISGUSTING, as they'd been cooked/fried in old burnt tasting oil, my husband couldn't even eat it, it was so dry and burnt tasting. He is a "Tenderloin Connoisseur ", and he was Soreky disappointed in this one! I asked for "grilled" or sautéed onions on my cheeseburger, and they piled on as many RAW onions as they could; they used the hard core part of the lettuce and the tomatoes were soggy; and I don't know what seasoning they use, but they need to STOP using it... the burger meat was dry and salty! The bun was good, but that was about it! I got a small side of coleslaw, and it was so nasty tasting I couldn't eat it! It was that "canned" tasting slaw, and they tried to "doctor" it up with something, which only made it worst! Needless to say we WON'T Be Back and don't WASTE your Money!! While Plump's tends to be known for their (ridiculously large and also delicious) tenderloin, it's really taco Tuesdays where they truly shine. The chef changes them up every week, and I have never had any that weren't absolutely amazing (and I literally go nearly every Tuesday). Today's blackened fish tacos were actually what inspired me to write this. Also, the bartenders are all super friendly, and it's just a really chill place to hang out, especially out on the deck when the weather is nice. Very cute little dive! We typically stop in for drinks after dinner in the area and they're always made perfectly. Not sure who some of the past reviews were talking about, because the bartenders are always very friendly and kind to us. I love long islands and I know from experience how difficult they are to make and every time, no matter who the bartender is, they're made perfectly here. They definitely know how to make their mixed drinks! The atmosphere is very homey, with plenty of news articles and memorabilia covering the walls. I also love the kind of people this bar draws in! It's not like the chain bars, such as Kilroys & Brothers that draw in a strictly young crowd, but rather a huge variety of ages. Definitely makes it a great spot to have a drink with my family. They are also typically one of the few bars open late during the week and on holidays. Even on the 4th of July, they were the only ones open after the firework show downtown! Took my gf and our 15 month old last night. she got the Hoosier tenderloin. it was HUGE! she was only able to eat half. the tenderloin wasn't pounded flat like some places. I had the Big Bobby burger. The sandwich was so delicious. it came with four huge pickle, a slice of tomato as big as the bun, and a full ring of red onion. I wasn't even able to eat half the chips that came as the side. Our son had the fingerloins. We'd never seen something like this on a menu. he only at one full length strip but it was obviously made from a Hoosier tenderloin. We'd give it ten stars if possible. read more

Ok not sure how this place is on top 25 places to go in Indy in Indianapolis Monthly? First had to maneuver around a dog someone had parked right in front of the door. I love love love dogs. Don't get me wrong. But have the brains to not have your pooch in the way and possibly hit by a door. There is no window in the door and the door swings out. Second no table service. You order at the bar. Third tables that were empty were dirty. Very divy inside didn't feel or look clean. This was first impressions. Didn't feel welcomed at all. This place was pretty legit. It looked like a dive bar on the outside-and the inside. There was a nice patio outside with extra seating. Inside had quite a few tables and a bar. It was pretty busy for a Sunday evening offering all types of drinks. The bartender was nice and friendly. Our draft beers were pricier than I'd expected for a "divey spot", but they were craft beers so that's expected. In a pool of nice fancy restaurants this bar is a good change of pace. They know who and what they are. Make no mistake, if you find yourself here it will be a good time. The beer is there, but the food is surprisingly solid. The seating, in or out, is great for groups or just one or two friends. It's far enough away from everything that it doesn't feel overwhelmed in commercial crowd pleasing. We decided to try this place because it was super close to Hotel Broad Ripple where we were staying the weekend. They also offer cashback for Yelp! The bartender was super friendly and made a great Moscow Mule. They also had blue moon, which is my favorite beer, but I do wish they had some more draft options. I understand why they don't, though, as it is a small spot with not much room inside or around the bar. We were so full from our other stops in Broad Ripple that we didn't try any food, but next time we will have to! I'm not normally a review writer but felt compelled to share this so that others could beware. I dine out and go out frequently and I have been to Plump's before but it was a number of years ago. My expectation was based on my previous visits there many years ago. I would be giving Plump's more credit than is due to classify it as a dive bar. It is a filthy, poorly run establishment. A friend and I stopped in on a Saturday night about 10:30 for a drink. We sat at tfe bar and were somewhat ignored by the bartender. I finally got his attention and asked if tfe kitchen was still open and he snarled back with a resounding NO. I said she'll have a Tito's and tonic and I'll have a Corona Light. He rudely said we don't have Corona Light. I said how about a Corona Extra? Nope. He pointed to a shelf with cans on it and said tfat's what we have so I ordered a beer. When my friend got the Tito's and tonic she took a sip and said this tastes awful. It tastes root beerish. I took a sip and it totally tasted bad and not like a Tito's and tonic. I got the bartender's attention and said this tastes funny. He almost got rage in his eyes and tasted it and said "nope it tastes fine". He then grabbed the can of tonic he had used and smacked it on the bar in front of us and said, "here's the tonic and over there is the Tito's. That is a Tito's and tonic! I shouldn't have paid but I did I said what do I owe you and he grabbed my money hastily and brought me my change with fire in his eyes. We didn't drink either drink and then left. Bad day or not, that was the most combative, uncomfortable experience I quite possibly have ever had. We won't be going back and my prediction is that rget won't survive much longer anyway. #onestar read more

I think this is one of those places that survives on nostalgia and a few solid regulars. Don't get me wrong---nothing about our experience was awful (except for a nearly hour wait for an order of wings and a burger). The food was decent, not great. The atmosphere is decidedly divey, and I'm OK with that. Our server was friendly, but he was apparently the only one serving at 5PM, and he was quite harried. For a hole-the-wall dive bar in the heart of Broad Ripple, Plump's is a great spot to enjoy a nice patio evening. The menu is limited but is perfect bar food. Pitchers are available to order and I loved that they brought a pitcher of water for our table. The downfall? It has been years that I've found myself wanting to visit Plump's Last Shot, a Broad Ripple bar & grill started by Jonathan Plump to honor his father, Bobby Plump, an iconic figure of sorts for true fans of Indiana basketball. Over those years, I've romanticized what I expected Plump's Last Shot to be. I expected a rather traditional bar and grill filled to the brim with basketball memorabilia and existing as the perfect place to gather with friends or watch the big game. I pictured something different. Way different. Plump's Last Shot is, quite honestly, a dive. It's a Broad Ripple dive, mind you, but it's still a dive. Located on Cornell Avenue with a front entrance that faces the Monon Trail, Plump's Last Shot is one of multiple businesses along that strip to be located in what is essentially a house. They've installed a large patio that is dog friendly and I'm guessing one of the things that makes Plump's Last Shot a popular option. If you're like me and in a wheelchair, then there's a few things to know. First off, the front entrance is NOT wheelchair accessible - at all. This would have been the side that would have made the most sense given the smoother sidewalks and friendlier parking, but Plump's has installed a ramp to their deck in the back. The back is essentially an alley with parking available, though it's certainly not accessible and the sidewalk, especially if you happen to be wheeling from the Monon, is in pretty serious disrepair to the point that I wouldn't recommend the journey without a companion. If you can drive to their parking lot, do so. The ramp itself likely does meet ADA requirements, though it is fairly worn as is, well, Plump's. The entrance isn't clearly identified, though there's a side door and a front door from the deck. Both will work. There's a sign that tells you to wait to be seated, though it appeared few people actually followed that direction. In fact, if you did you'd have likely been waiting quite awhile. Plump's is, well, an extremely casual place and I think this was especially true on a national holiday when it was obvious they were understaffed and clearly serving more customers than they'd expected. My gut feeling tells me that Plump's is mostly a place that serves regulars and those regulars simply don't mind grabbing their own seats, grabbing their own menus and getting up out of their seat to go pay the bill. While employees from the back were starting to pitch in and help by the time I left, the truth is that there's an ultra-casual vibe here that may prove intolerable for those who require the traditional service model of actually being served in a timely manner. Every aspect of my experience was slow - getting a table, getting a menu, getting my iced tea, placing an order, getting the order (probably the most timely), and paying the bill. I think I also expected a more traditional menu and Plump's pretty much only serves up traditional bar food that fits on a one-page menu. I will note that their website includes an expanded menu, so it's entirely possible this was a limited menu for the holiday. Drink prices seemed pretty reasonable, though I could see where goofed up bills happen, as is noted in some reviews, because multiple times I heard a comment from the back "How much do we charge for...?" The place is filled to the brim with memorabilia, though it's decidedly non-showy. The place truly is a dive - disorganized, dirty, fairly dark and cramped on the inside, but possessing a sort of natural quality I actually liked. You can watch sports - there's a couple TV's, though it's sure not what I pictured. I ordered a 1/2 pound angus burger - I ordered it plain. It comes with chips as a side, though they have fries, tots, etc for a pretty decent upcharge of a couple bucks. My bill with an iced tea came in at just over $11 - I did need to ask for it, but I did get a refill. The burger was absolutely terrific with a toasted bun that made it even better. Now then, here's the thing. Despite all the problems? I actually liked this place. I found the server super friendly and a delight. The atmosphere was comfortable and friendly despite the access issues. I found the customers all amazingly friendly. I seriously considered a 4-star review despite all the issues, though ultimately access issues and timeliness really ought to be considered and so 3-star truly feels right. It's a 3-star, but it's also with a disclaimer that if you have the right personality you're just going to love it here. If you don't? You'll hate it. I'm not sure that my visit to Plump's was worth the years I've waited, though on a sunny, beautiful July 4th it was a terrific choice. If you're in a wheelchair, plan ahead and be careful. If you need on point service, then you may be disappointed. If you want a terrific place to drink, grab a meal, hang with friends or hang with your dog, Plump's Last Shot is definitely a solid choice in Broad Ripple. read more
