She walked us through the beer flights, made some great recommendations, and never made us feel rushed. The flights were also surprisingly affordable, which made trying a few different brews an easy decision. For lunch, I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with fries, while my friend went with the Italian sandwich. Both plates were generously portioned, and neither of us left hungry. The pulled pork was tender, flavorful, and piled high on the sandwich, while the fries were perfectly crispy alongside it. Between the quality of the food and the reasonable prices, it felt like an excellent value. The atmosphere strikes a nice balance between historic and casual. TVs are scattered throughout if you're catching a game, music plays in the background, and despite the grand setting, it still feels comfortable enough to settle in for a while. It was a large portion for what you pay for, though it was lacking enough cheese curds. The food was lukewarm, almost as thought it had been sitting for too long. The beef had a weird flavor to it. My wife and I split an ale burger and a pork katsu sandwich. The burger was dry and room temp, the cheese formed in place (as thought it was being kept at room temp). Fries were also room temp. Burger didn't have much flavor, and the bun was hard. The pork katsu sandwich lacked flavor. The top toast was soggy, and the bottom piece was hard as a rock. The slaw lacked any taste. Again, theme of the night, was also room temperature. Would have appreciated food being served hot, as all of the food was served lukewarm, though the place wasn't busy. Service wasn't the best, and people acted like they had better places to be. I'm not normally a harsh critic, but too much badness in one meal for me.

The outdoor walk-up bar creates a really cool, laid-back atmosphere, making it a great place to relax whether you're meeting friends or just enjoying a meal by yourself. He brought two waters--with no straws--and no dog bowl. We assumed he was going to grab the bowl, so we waited... and waited. Then I noticed him at the end of the bar leaning against some boxes, texting. So I finally got up, interrupted him and asked for the dog bowl. His response, "oh my bad." Our appetizers came out, and naturally, we asked for silverware. A few minutes later, I spotted "H" in the corner on his phone again. At that point I was thinking, seriously?! So I got up again, interrupted "H's" text convo and asked for silverware. His response again was, "Oh, my bad." I didn't respond to him I just turned around and went back to my seat. Honestly, the whole experience started feeling more like a self-serve restaurant than table service. It's a chill spot and we weren't being needy whatsoever. We never asked for any refills- we were merely asking for the basics. We wanted to order more food, but by that point we were pretty turned off and decided to just get the check. Then came the final straw: my guy had his license and credit card sitting on the table because he hadn't brought his wallet out for our monon trek. When "H" came back with the checkout thing, without question or hesitation - he grabbed the card and swiped it. We didn't even realize what happened until afterward. The industrial warehouse vibe gives it tons of character, but what really stood out to me was how welcoming it felt. They host trivia nights and other events, and with shelves full of board games, it's the kind of place where a quick drink can easily turn into an entire afternoon. My friend and I grabbed a couple of beers, challenged each other to Connect 4 (I lost...but let's not dwell on that ), and completely lost track of time. I also loved all the little details--from the massive wall of brewery stickers to the impressive mug display and the roomy seating that never felt cramped. Whether you're meeting old friends, bringing your pup along, or hoping to strike up a conversation with someone new, Centerpoint makes it easy to feel at home. If you're looking for a brewery that's just as much about community as it is craft beer, this is your place. Allowing ball throwing in a packed dining area creates unnecessary safety risks for guests, servers, and pets. A simple rule against throwing footballs/baseballs in the seating area -- or designating a separate play space -- would make a huge difference and help preserve the relaxed brewery environment many customers come for. The beer and staff were great, but the outdoor experience would improve significantly with a little more structure and supervision.

After a brief conversation about the different beers, I ordered a draft Ragged Company Hazy IPA from Big Lug Brewing. It was the perfect hoppy, citrusy mouth bomb I wanted on a beautiful, sunny, crisp fall day! I ended up taking a four-pack home as well. I loved it! Since I had never been to this restaurant before, and I always ask my server for recommendations, I asked Kristen to share some of her favorites from the menu. She was eager to help and very knowledgeable about the entire menu. I chose the brisket grilled cheese with a side of hot honey Brussels sprouts. Both were spot-on and delicious. The brisket was smoky, flavorful, and tender. The Texas toast on the sandwich was perfectly crunchy and golden. I even had some crispy pieces of toasted provolone around the edges of my sandwich, and they were heaven! The sandwich came with two dill pickle slices on the side. I asked for extra pickles to cut through the richness of the sandwich, and they were promptly brought to me. My table was already equipped with the restaurant's three barbecue sauces in a caddy, and I enjoyed sampling them as well. I don't usually like Carolina-style barbecue sauce, but the tanginess of the mustard-based sauce went really well with my sandwich. I also enjoyed the Cola BBQ sauce. The Texas-style sauce almost seemed as though it had been sitting in the sun too long. I think one possible improvement would be to place shaded caddies on the tables when people sit down instead of leaving them in full sun. I wonder whether the heat could alter the flavor of the barbecue sauces over time. When I finished eating, I ordered a side of chili to go after asking Kristen whether it contained beans--which it does. I'm a beans-in-my-chili girl! I ate the chili later that night and it was delicious so I would highly recommend it. I asked Kristen whether the toppings--shredded cheddar, diced white onion, sour cream, and fresh jalapeño slices--could be packed separately so I could heat the chili and add the toppings at home. I also asked for portion cups of each of the barbecue sauces to go. I could only finish half of my sandwich and wanted to enjoy it again at home with the variety of sauces. Kristen made sure everything was packed exactly as I requested, including the chili toppings and all three barbecue sauces. I also took home a 'Nilla Banana Pudding Cup. I'd asked Kristen to recommend either that or the Strawberry Cornbread Cup. She recommended the 'Nilla, and I went with her suggestion since she definitely hadn't steered me wrong on anything else! I did like the banana pudding cup, but I think it could be improved with homemade custard/pudding and homemade whipped cream. It was still tasty when I had it at home after refrigerating it for a couple of hours, but I would definitely say it's best eaten at the restaurant rather than ordered as takeout. The whipped cream quickly deflated since it isn't homemade. The flavors were still good, though! There wasn't a hint of artificial banana flavor in the dessert--which is something that bothers me a lot--so my mouth was happy. The texture of the layers was also good. This dessert could be elevated from good to great--and become something that "reminds me of Grandma's"--with homemade custard and whipped cream. Just sayin'. Half Liter Beer & BBQ Hall is a GREAT find, and I'm already excited to go again! I know it will be a favorite for years to come. Settled in a shopping plaza next to a paint store, Deviate offers twelve brews on tap and can pour others. This is not a place to have a Galentine's Day dinner. This is a place to drink beer and let the conversation flow by itself. A place where board games and popcorn are complementary. BYO (PF).
