[[HIGHLIGHT]]During my recent visit, kids were freely throwing footballs and baseballs around crowded tables where people were trying to eat, drink, and relax.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]One overthrown baseball nearly hit one of my dogs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I fully support family-friendly spaces, but the patio should still feel safe and enjoyable for everyone.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Allowing ball throwing in a packed dining area creates unnecessary safety risks for guests, servers, and pets.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]A simple rule against throwing footballs/baseballs in the seating area -- or designating a separate play space -- would make a huge difference and help preserve the relaxed brewery environment many customers come for.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The beer and staff were great, but the outdoor experience would improve significantly with a little more structure and supervision. read more

This brewery is located really close to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I went here to grab a beer (or two) after visiting the museum. There's a solid selection of different styles of beer here. It looks like they won some awards. As soon as you walk in the door, you get a width of that delicious smelling tavern style pizza that they make there. I already had lunch plans and other food plans for the day otherwise I would've totally gotten some of that pizza cause it smelled and looked really good. Service was awful. Ordered a pizza. Sat there for a half hour waiting and no one checked on us. We finally got the servers attention and she went to check. She didn't come back for quite a while (saw her checking on other people). Finally came back and said sorry but they got a large order. However, we saw someone who came in and ordered well after us get their pizza. So obviously they lost the order and made an excuse. On top of that - she never asked if I wanted another beer. Well, when going to a brewery, the quality and variety of beers on tap is paramount. Daredevil Brewing is paramount! The stout was phenomenal! For a variety, we checked out the Marzen and the IPA's, all exceptional. The service was great both bartenders we had were extremely nice and very good about allowing us to try beers before buying. We ordered "happy hour pizzas" which was a small personal cheese pizza, add a topping for $2. The pizza was good and the ground pepperoni was a nice change. I asked about drink specials which the menu listed, and our server wasn't sure what I meant and had to look at the menu herself. Finally I settled on a mule, which ended up just being ok. The rest of table ordered a mix of beers and cocktails, everyone reported them to be "just ok". For the bill... I ordered a $6 drink special $17 app $7 pizza The waitress didn't show me my tab, but rather just turned a screen around for my card $33 charge and an included 20% tip. We have been coming here since they opened, and this is the perfect place to meet up with friends for pizza and a pitcher of beer. Drinks were great. Really loved their beer cocktails and their beer selection. We did come here to get dinner as well though. Wouldn't really recommend as a dinner spot as their selection is very limited and feels more like an affordable family cookout. Can't say much about the service as you have to place your beer and food orders at a kiosk in the front but everything seemed done in a reasonable time frame. Mama Mia, who would think the pizza here would be the most memorable thing. The beer was good too, but that pizza is amaze-balls. I would go back for that alone. They said they learned from another pizza maker and I'll say they probably snatched that pebble away from the previous master. They didn't have any wheats on my visit, but the German Kolsch style and their stout was delicious. I think I ended up with a 2nd Stout because I liked it so much. I don't remember if I had 2 or if I was seeing double. I can't tell you where it is, not because it's a secret, but because I didn't drive and I'm glad for that. I think it's near the speedway as there were lots of Indy driver names on buildings. That's what maps are for though. Find it and and make sure you get beer and pizza. This is a solid microbrewery nestled into the Speedway restaurant district. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Inside is a humungous room with 30ft ceilings. They have quite a few beers on tap ranging from light to dark....many European inspired variaties. I went with something called "Muse" which was a lighter Belgian type of ale. It was lovely. Finally made it in to Daredevil to actually sit down and relax. Every time we have been here, it's a day of a Racemaker Production 5k, so it's a little chaotic (but still fun AND their patio is amazing!!) The atmosphere on the inside was nice and chill. I ordered the only stout that they had, the JWP, since I figured it was the perfect beer to go along with the 20 degree weather outside. Let me tell you, it was. It was one of the best stouts I have ever had! It was super creamy, bold, and had a nice coffee flavor. My fiance got the vacation and he really enjoyed it as well. My husband and I were staying in Speedway for a long weekend and stumbled upon this place during a rainy afternoon. The inside is very spacious and airy and the staff is super sweet and helpful. I was excited that they had wine on tap and my husband was pleased with the variety of beers offered. The pours were also very generous. To start, we shared a hot pretzel with beer cheese. It came out super fast and was delicious! I probably would have eaten a second, given the chance. We also ordered a personal pizza to share. The server recommended the Daredevil and it was delicious! I'm so glad we got the personal size because it was still pretty large. To finish, my husband ordered the bratwurst, which came out with sauerkraut and kettle chips. Review for beer only, not food! Came in around 6:00 on a Friday night and got the last available table in the back. Inside had an industrial brewery feel. Within a few minutes of being seated we were greeted by our waitress. She was kind but didn't offer up any suggestions or recommendations. Beer was brought out promptly, but then we didn't see her again, which I understand it was busy, but we would have likely gotten more if she had been back sooner. This place is so cute! The perfect amount of space for a fun lunch with friends. A great parking lot with outdoor seating also. I noted an igloo seating but I'm not sure it was open today. It's all high top seating which I was fine with. The service was great! Very attentive and so good at making the experience fun and personal. I'm a big fan of Daredevil beer in general, and it turns out that I'm also a big fan of Daredevil Brewing specifically. It's nice to be able to go straight to the source to get a great beer. Unfortunately, I ordered a new-to-me beer that was amazing but I forgot the name of it. I loved it so much that I even ordered a crowler of it to go. I wish I could remember what it was. I think it had an M in its name. When we visited, it was on a Sunday after lunch but before dinner, so we got some beers, an order of chips and beer cheese, and watched a game that was playing on the TV. The chips are the local Broad Ripple kettle chips. I like these chips, but they are not my favorite when paired with beer cheese -- I am a staunch believer in tortilla chips with beer cheese. The service was great, the dining room area was spotless and chill, and the food options were good. I'm sure this place is hopping in May when the Indy 500 is happening because you can almost see the track from this location. However, in the fall, when we visited, it wasn't crowded at all, and it was a pleasant visit. read more

Daredevil makes some great selections, and I enjoyed a can of Vacation as part of Yelp's Big Night In which went very well with the Thai food I ordered from a local restaurant. Lift Off IPA is another favorite of mine. I love that they sell 4-packs of pint cans at a number of local supermarkets now. I haven't made it to their Speedway location yet, but hope to do so after the pandemic settles down. I've run by during the mini and keep saying I'm going to come back and check it out when I'm not in the middle of a half-marathon, but haven't done it yet. I FINALLY made it to Daredevil's original location and I'm so glad I did. Daredevil is at the true heart of Speedway. They seem to be involved in a lot of community events and they're a staple on Speedway's Main Street. I stopped in at about 4pm on a weekday to crank out a few more emails. I was surprised to see that the brewery was already filling up with people post-work. They have a menu that includes soups, chilis, salads, soft pretzels, sandwiches, tacos, sausages and alllllll the craft beer. I snagged the soup of the day, which happened to be a white chili. It was SO delicious and I was thrilled that it wasn't super spicy either. It had just enough saltiness and the bread that came with it was good too. Friends, I don't like writing negative reviews, but I want to warn others so they don't find themselves in the same position we were in today. My partner and I decided to stop here for lunch while we were out running errands. They had a limited menu of pizza and apps, which we didn't know until we arrived. We decided that was fine. The waitress was lovely and took our drink orders right away. We ordered a pretzel along with our drinks, right away. I am not joking- it took 40 minutes to come. We placed a small pizza order between ordering drinks and receiving our app. After being in the restaurant over 1.5 hours, we asked if they could check on our pizza. We were told it still wouldn't be ready for at least 8 minutes. We decided at that point to leave. I ordered the Muse Belgian Golden Ale and enjoyed it. The biggest negative of this place for me is the ambiance. The building has very high ceilings and is industrial. There just isn't much ambiance to it. Acoustics are bad as is the industrial lighting. I understand that breweries tend to have an industrial element as they are actually brewing on their premises, but I've been to plenty of breweries that are able to accomplish manufacturing and an ambient environment in the same space. This is basically everything you could want from a brewery. Upon walking in, I was impressed by the gigantic bar and large area filled with tables. I was also happy to see that they kept up with the season and a good selection of fall and winter beers available in addition to the normal pales and IPAs that small breweries are so obsessed with. I ordered the Dunkel and it was refreshing while being just the right ABV to be able to drive afterwards. I didn't order any food, but it was nice to see they had a good selection of sandwiches available. Unfortunately I didn't have time for a tour, but if I ever come back I think I might check it out. read more
