I was staying with a friend who lives a few blocks from Centerpoint a couple weeks ago, and we wandered over with a third person for trivia night. We sat at the bar, which had plenty of space even though it was a bit busy. The vibe was relaxed and welcoming, no need to elbow your way in or shout over the crowd. The bar staff was great. Friendly without being performative and genuinely down to chat. One of them recommended Pete's Clear Skies IPA, which turned out to be exactly what I didn't know I wanted. They even took a moment to explain what a low IBU means. Trivia was a blast. We came in second, which felt like a win. The space itself is comfortable in that "you could stay here for hours and not notice" kind of way. I'm already looking forward to going back next time I'm in town. read more

CenterPoint Brewing Co. Pretty cool place to hang out, watch a game, draw something cool, sit and chat, or just watch all the cute puppers coming through the door. It was our first time here and it will absolutely not be our last. Now, understand that we came in on a Saturday early afternoon. There was a hotdog stand set up in the main seating area (shout out to one of the best chili cheese dogs I've had in a long while courtesy of Weiner Dreams). Other then that, there wasn't much going on, although it was moderately hopping with customers. It's just a perfect place to hang out and have some great local brew! As far as the beer, we enjoyed some and moderately liked others. The Lime El Gato was my personal fave and El Gato was my husbands fave. Overall, CenterPoint is a pretty simple joint, bring your own food, and a really enjoyable atmosphere to match the beer. We will be back! read more

Beer. All very solid. They don't do anything too crazy but what they do brew they do well. Birdie is my favorite Indy IPA. It's an old school IPA that they get right. They have carry out, growlers, and crowlers as well. Vibe. The place is HUGE and that kind of makes it not always a great vibe. On the flip side it's great for large groups. It's also good for just setting at the Bar. Plenty of TVs for your viewing pleasure. Ample outdoor seating as well. Food. They don't serve any but you can order in. There is also often a food truck in the parking lot. Parking. Lots of it in nearby lot. If that fills up you can go to the main lot of the Circle City Industrial Complex. read more

For this #ThankYouThursday, I'd like to give a shout out to this chill, local brewery, who has some of the best brewskis around. Located in Circle City Industrial Complex, slightly off the beaten path, this spot is definitely up and coming. Now with artists, a recording space, a distillery, ice cream shop and more housed in the building, you can make a few great stops all in one swoop. The inside of the brewery is surprisingly large. THey have an entire back room with a huge screen, making it a great place to hold a birthday party or watch a game. They also have a few picnic tables outside, overlooking the parking lot. Speaking of parking lot, this is one of the easiest places to park at in the city. With several spaces right outside their door, as well as a big lot across the street, there's never a shortage of spots. Now onto the beers! My personal favorite of theirs is the El Gato, a local lager. They also have a popular blood orange beer that I haven't tried yet, but look forward to tasting, as well as a porter and IPA. Great brewery! I appreciate that they always have a lighter beer on tap, the el gato. I've noticed some local breweries don't and for someone that usually only prefers lighter beers it can be frustrating. They are kid friendly and dog friendly. You can also bring in your own food. read more

I went to a watch party for the Indy Fuel here and it was really fun. The beer is good and very reasonably priced. The bartenders are better. And we got to take a tour of the facility. What more could you ask for. But for real, their support of sports is really cool. I also went a few times for the World Cup this last summer and I'll continue going to any watch parties I can. read more

This is my go to place for Trivia every Thursday for Indy Live Trivia with Doug - if your'e looking for someone who represents team Sour Batch Kids - you've found one of them. They have some solid brews, and are always consistent in quality - personal favorite is the Gold Kolsch, their seasonal Red Flanders and the Key Lime Gose. #Protip, they do allow you to order or bring food in from the outside - just make sure that you're inputting the correct address as rideshare delivery services may be dropping it off towards the other end of the complex. Also, if you have a furry friend, they're always welcome and will most likely make a new friend while they're there. The anchor point for the near east side and the Circle city industrial complex. Such a mouthful, this cool artsy mixed use retail space houses many things and hosts a first Friday event every month! Conveniently located on the west end of the building near where the Monon trail meets up with the cultural trail. The beers here are great and so is the atmosphere. Right away you notice the long bar that leads down to the restrooms to your right. To the left is an open area with tables and games. This area has a garage door so it opens out onto the patio during nice weather. I always feel welcome in here with some of the nicest bar staff in Indianapolis. This is a big space with the production area located behind the bar. For me, this is a nice stopping point on my bike on the way home. read more

I am a fan of Centerpoint's industrial engineer-themed atmosphere, near-east side location, very friendly customer service, Thursday trivia nights, pinball machines, and Twiggy the Brewery Cat. I am not as much of a fan of its flagship beer styles (kolsch, porter and 2 IPAs), but all the other positive factors override my "meh" attitude over the beer. If you are an IPA fan, they offer many types...blood orange, red, imperial, white, etc. If you are a sour/gose/wild ale fan, you'll be out of luck. Saison and other Belgians styles are periodically offered; hopefully they'll experiment with these styles a bit more. Centerpoint sells multiple flavors of Tell City Pretzels and Broad Ripple potato chips, if you need to nosh, as well as periodic visits from food trucks like the Cosmic Chrome Cafe. Its near-east side location in the Circle City Industrial Complex is fantastic; Centerpoint is really ahead of the curve with its location, along with fellow CCIC dwellers. A small patio is now available during the warm weather months, jutting out into the parking lot. The customer service is really authentic and the servers are very knowledgeable about the beer styles and what might wet a visitor's whistle. Plus Twiggy...don't forget Twiggy. read more

This brewery is located just off of mass ave, in an area that it looks like they are trying to build up; which I always love to see for any area in Indianapolis. It's a pretty expansive location, a big bar area, outside seating and then a side room with lots of tables. There are also TVs as well. A nice beer selection, light to dark.. and of course not too many dark beers because of course it is summer. I was thankful that the bar tenders were so friendly, willing to answer questions, let you try samples or make some personal recommendations. I got a small flight to try a different variety and was really impressed! Each beer had a unique flavor which I think is important. My overall favorite beer was the strawberry Hefeweizen. First visit was with a large group a couple weeks ago and was floored by how spacious the seating area and bar are. Even while slammed the staff was ON IT! The on tap list is easy to see behind the bar and the staff (as you would hope) are masters of recommendations if you haven't tried any of the brews before. I enjoy their APAs Impulse and Blood Orange but didn't hear any who tried others say anything but good things! There are games galore that you can set up and play during your visit which is awesome! Just don't be a bonehead and leave a mess for others to clean or swipe all the Uno Wild Cards...be a nice person people! Game days can get loud with the TVs blasting and people trying to out yell them and the other fans but everyone keeps good spirits in true Indy Friendly Fashion! There is a sweet little patio for the warmer months and the parking lot is convenient. Also located in an area easy to bike and walk as needed! Water containers are set up around as a subtle reminder to hydrate...reminiscent of Ultimate Frisbee tourneys, but not bone dry after long points. Overall great brewery to check out! read more

I've ordered other beers on the menu, but lawdy...this one is my absolute fave. It's just so drinkable, no matter what time of year you visit. My friends and I went to Centerpoint on a Thursday night for the trivia. The space is awesome. It's got sort of a warehouse feel with high ceiling and lots of tables. They don't serve food so it's dog friendly! Lots of good boys were pet. I really enjoyed the Summer Sipper beer which has kombucha in it. It has a bit of a kick to it but I really liked it! You can order food and have it delivered there so we got pizza and cluster truck. Trivia was fun! My team ended up winning and we got a $25 gift card! I'm withholding a star because it was just sooooo hot inside. We were all fanning ourselves. I don't think they have central AC in the garage area and they kept the door shut so we were really getting warm. I feel like just adding fans could make a huge difference! In their defense it was like 85 out that evening but it was still just so stuffy. Everyone was rolling up theirs jeans to try and cool down. Overall though this brewery is really really awesome! Great place to host a party. I hosted my wife's 40th birthday party at Centerpoint on a recent Saturday night and everyone loved it. Amanda, Mal, Eric and the rest of the Centerpoint team were awesome to work with. And Centerpoint just expanded so there is even more space for gatherings. We didn't book a private space, but they had marked off several tables for our group. Because of the expansion, we had our own section of the main room which worked out perfectly. There ended up being about 30 in our group. Centerpoint's beer was a big hit, especially the black lager and coffee porter. You're able to bring in your own food allowing us to setup a spread of munchies and, of course, birthday cake. Table/room rental was a lot cheaper than other places I called and we were able to use tokens for the group's beer tab ($5/beer). Overall, the party was a big success. I look forward to getting back to Centerpoint soon. read more

I do not come to centerpoint on a regular basis just for the frigid digits beer fest each year and once in a blue moon when I am downtown hanging out with friends. I was here for frigid digits beer fest this year back in February, and it was excellent! Center point always provides a great venue for the festival and they have a great variety of beer on tap at their own brewery. Frigid digits beer fest is a wonderful festival because it takes place in the winter time and the top local breweries in Indy come out to pour samples of beer, including center point. There is some wonderful top notch beer at frigid digits. Center point is in a good location downtown and they always have events and specials going on on a frequent basis. The actual brewery at centerpoint is a wonderful space and provides a great lounge area for people to watch tv or play games while drinking their beer. Hopefully, if I am ever able to get out of the house and the quarantine is lifted, I can go back to centerpoint brewery and enjoy their beer with my friends. read more

Their selection of beer varies widely in style and many know them for their Blood Orange IPA. Today I left with a growler of Raspberry Sour + BOIPA in cans. They have packaged snacks like pretzels & Broad Ripple Chip Co chips and you can order food in, but they do not have a full kitchen. We stopped into Centerpoint Brewing after we got Ice cream from Licks down the street. We had no idea this place existed but thought it looked neat. It is in an industrial park it decent room for parking. They were having an event to raise money for animals so a lot of dogs were in the brewery. We wish we would have known this sooner so we could have brought our pups with us. There was also live music and a food truck parked outside. The food from the food truck looked delicious but we were only there for the beer. They have a large selection of Pale Ales and other hoppy beers. After asking the guy at the bar what he would suggest for someone who doesn't care for hoppy beers he suggested one of their sour ales. I forget the name as it was not listed on the board but it was good. It had light and had a nice flavor. Tim got an orange IPA that had an overpowering orange taste. I tried it even though I hate IPAs. The atmosphere was pretty great and the architecture was very intriguing to me. There was a great mix of wood and metal which is exactly my style. Only talked to the one guy at the bar but the staff seemed nice. I would love to go back if they ever expand their beer menu a bit to please those of us who prefer blonde ales, wheat beers, and much lower IBUs. read more
