Summer is officially here, and so are the best vibes on the patio at Big Lug! As we know, this is…read moreone of my favorite neighborhood spots for several reasons. One being how they consistently roll out new monthly specials - they're always creative, and the names and descriptions are so much fun. Plus, their specials tie into whatever's locally happening at the time, whether it's Pride Month, Oktoberfest, or anything in between. I tried the summer za' which is a pizza with tomato, corn, zucchini, sausage, red onion, and cheese. Super tasty! And for my mocktail lovers, try the watermelon mint refresher. I'm obsessed!

Big Lug Canteen delivers a memorable meal from start to finish -- friendly, unpretentious service,…read morea warm neighborhood vibe, and two standout dishes that I'll be ordering again. The Brussels sprouts are an absolute triumph: perfectly blistered with a caramelized exterior and tender interior, dressed in a harmonious balance of bright acidity and savory depth. Little crunchy bits and a subtle smoky char add texture, while a finishing sprinkle (and a hint of something sweet-salty) elevates them from simple side to a show-stealer. The Korean salmon is equally impressive. The fish arrives flaky and moist with a richly glazed crust that carries sweet, spicy, and umami notes in perfect proportion. Layers of flavor -- gochujang-forward heat, sesame brightness, and a touch of citrus -- play against the salmon's natural richness without overpowering it. It's plated thoughtfully, with complementary sides that keep each bite balanced. If you're at Big Lug Canteen, don't pass up those two dishes -- they demonstrate skilled technique, bold yet nuanced seasoning, and a real sense of care in the kitchen. Great food, relaxed atmosphere, solid value. Highly recommended.

Stop by here Friday evening for a little refreshment and some wings with my son…read more We sat just outside to the left on the patio and the young lady that waited on us took very good care of us and we really enjoyed the beautiful spring/summer setting. Place was pretty full when we got there at about seven with lots of families, but by the time we left about nine it had definitely thinned out quite a bit and was more of an adult atmosphere with some music and lots of screens We will continue to make this one of our favorites when in town

Their beer and cocktails are crisp and carefully crafted. The food, however, was not spectacular. We ordered the breadsticks with nacho cheese (overcooked), traditional wings (teriyaki & hot honey garlic - saucy, decent), 1 beef taco (meh), & a single smash burger with an upgraded side of tater tots. Everything was all about the same - nothing special, respectfully. The smash burger was not a traditional smash burger. It also looked and tasted exactly like a burger from Burger King. All 3 times I have been to Danny Boy, it seems the place is being run by 1-3 workers, which makes for very slow ordering and wait times. This day, 2 tables left before ordering drinks due to the long wait. Overall, Danny Boy is a great place to stop for an evening drink to catch up with friends. I, however, would not recommend the food.

Our server was pretty great, and up front about wait times. We went when the kitchen has a crew shortage, so there was a wait for food. For appetizers: nachos were great, but if you ordered a simple nacho, it's meh, we had to add several things and added $$ to make it REAL nachos. The dip for the pork rinds was good. The table ordered truffle fries, they finished it. It was our first time trying Upland beers. Most of the options are IPA and tart beers. None of which I like. The mixed drinks menu was meh, they offer 2 hard ciders, but one was unavailable. Our server let us try samples and she was very patient. For main dishes: I ordered a Salmon BLT. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. I didn't eat it with the bun, salmons was very thin, 1 piece of bacon, slice of tomato and 1 piece of lettuce. We had mac and cheese, DO NOT ORDER, it was floating in fat and there's no taste to it. Fish and chips was okay. The pizza was the highlight, it saved the night, I think. Bathrooms clearly labeled, easily seen, and clean. For 6 people, 2 of whom did not have alcoholic drinks (just water), our bill with tip was over $350. I would not come back here again, I had a better time and better food at other breweries.
