The food at this place is above average. One of the better pork tenderloins I've had in the area. The service was very good. The drinks are self serve but we had a waitress constantly keeping drinks filled which was above expectations. The establishment is very. The staff does. This is such a cool spot to hang out, grab some beers, and enjoy a few bites. Sun King is on both the lower level AND the top level, so they definitely make it easy to grab a beer no matter where you are! They had a lot of beers selections and other drinks too. There were plenty of indoor seats, as well as a nice outdoor patio. It does get pretty busy at times, but there's still a great, lively atmosphere. It's definitely a very family-oriented place and a fun spot to hang out. They were screening a movie outside that day, and we were able to catch some of it from our outdoor patio seats. Pretty cool! Just a solid Biergarten with an amazing location. The beer is consistently very good. While they don't have their own food...they do share space with a Couple of smaller joints that are closer to a brick n mortar food truck vibe. There are also a handful of excellent restaurants within a 2 min walk. I'll keep coming back for the beer and great service. read more

Back in the fall my mom and I met up for lunch and drinks at Sun King. It's one of our go-to spots because it has a food hall inside of a top notch brewery / distillery. My mom is a creature of habit and normally drinks their cream ale but I encouraged her to branch out and try some seasonal brews with me. We did a flight and her favorite was the Salted Caramel Brownie Porter. While my favorite ended up being the Caramel Apple Tripel because of the barrel aged combination of fruit notes and brown sugar sweetness. Boldness enough to hand me a paper menu covered in ketchup. QR codes are system quarterbacks built upon Defensive Coordinators. In conjunction with those aforementioned beepers, makes an old head out of me. This pairing lauds organization as champion. Where's the chance to experience? Here's the answer. I was disappointed to be honest. I love the fishers and downtown sunkings however this was lackluster. Service from the bar staff was wonderful so I will not fault them at all. We came in about 10:30pm on a Friday and with closure at 12 we thought this would be fine. However as the DD I wanted food and all of the food counters closed a half hour before they were supposed to (they close at 11) and would not serve me. The bar staff were very apologetic but as we picked sunking for the access to a late bite for me I was disappointed. What an absolute staple and gem of caramel. A true anchor to the downtown area as well as the Monon Trail. Such a great location to access via car, via foot, via bike. It is also right next to a big large area to spread out and also listen to live music or see events in the warmer months. I've been a few times with friends, with family, with pets. The food is offensively bad. I got a pulled pork BBQ mac n cheese and it was awful. The mac n cheese was just pasta shells with some cheese sauce poured over it and the pulled pork was really dry and just covered in some bbq sauce, also it was cold. The beers their are really badly made too, I'm a big fan of craft beer, and unfortunately the beers there are all fairly plain without a lot of flavor. I was in town on a trip, and someone had recommended this place to meet up with friends for drinks and apps, and it did not disappoint. I tried the Mexican lager that they had on draft, and it was refreshing and cold. We also got some of the nachos at the restaurant on the main floor, and they were VERY plentiful and tasty. Seasoned well and loaded up with lots of toppings. The place also didn't seem TOO loud for it being a Friday night, one of the first weekends of football, and very packed. Our waitress was attentive and there when we needed something else. I would go back for sure, especially when the weather is nice and sit outside on the patio/turf section outside! We went as a group for a corporate work trip. Initially, I wasn't satisfied because the bartender with the spiky hair didn't take our order. Instead he said our order window is in the event room and he would take our order there when they finished setting it up. Obviously we came to the bar because we didn't want to wait for set up to finish. I thought it was just kinda rude and our orders should've been taken. Furthermore, the event space was poorly decorated. There were over a dozen people and 3 of the tables of the 6 didn't have chairs. I would like to fellowship while sitting down, not stand up after being at a work event today. The set up of the event food was sooo backwards. All the toppings for the taco were at the beginning of the line. The tortilla shells were at the end and nachos. We only had one size plates so by the time we made it to the dip and tortillas, the plates were full. The arrangement didn't make sense and forced you to go back through the line to dress your taco. The salad had no dressing at all. The taco tortillas were corn only (no flour options for this huge work crowd). Couple of colleagues wanted beer.. this is a brewery. Hardly any suggestions were made. There was an older gentleman assisting the spiky haired guy and he was very nice. He did come and periodically pick up plates. However, we didn't have a waiter in the event room so plates did pile up and cups. The chicken was dryer than a communion cracker. The event space was decorated so poorly, no effort. Honestly, I would not recommend this place due to the service and the "mehh" food. Everyone did love the beef for the tacos & the drinks were pretty good. I had a margarita (not a beer drinker but my colleagues enjoyed the beer). If we come back, we will not select this place because we are happy to spend but treat us like you'd like us to spend and come back. Make recommendations and provide assistance. Have a waiter for big parties in the event room. Provide adequate seating. Have a bartender who knows how to interface with large groups and can bartend and service people with finesse and alacrity. A neat food hall, bars with a handful of eateries around a recreation oriented artificial lawn. This place was busy on a Saturday night. We went back on Sunday night it was very tame then. They have a giant screen with the college football game on. Table tennis, billiards. Where was the game of bags? It's a neat place to enjoy brews and watch the games. But no games on the big screen Sunday (good thing Bears were lost to the Chiefs 41-10). They did have that at the SunKing bar. The queue for the food hall (La Margarita and the Den) were painfully long and took a whole for the food to come out when busy. read more

Food court style dining with an extensive Sun King menu! If you're looking for a relaxed place to sit by the fire, hang out with friends or bring your kids or dog, this is a great place. There are three different places to order a variety of food from and the waitresses bring you adult beverages. They have about 30 beers on tap on a rotating basis and have mixed drinks as well. There is music, but it's not so loud you cannot have a conversation. We came for a quick bite to eat and were pleasantly surprise by the laid back ambiance, dog friendly crowd and places for kids to play. Stopped in on the day after Christmas when we had some free time between family events. You'll see from previous reviews, we went to another tap room first. We came here when that one was a bit of a let down and wished we had come here in the first place. We grabbed a table for four on the first floor near the bar. An employee explained some of the food and seating options to my MIL; because we were just drinking, the first floor made the most sense (but I'm antsy to come back and try some of the food options). Our server was great and super patient with our indecisiveness. Our beers spanned from bourbon barrel aged to cream ale so we tried a bit of everything. My MIL was especially happy to find a boozy hot chocolate option because she doesn't drink beer. Everything we tried was good. This was not what we were looking for this evening, it was loud and a bit overwhelming for my parents, but it was a neat space that I would love to return to with just my husband or friends. We ordered drinks and were (pleasantly) surprised at the table service - not only did they find us to deliver our drinks to the table, but returned several times to check on us, offered to clear away our empty trays and brought us more drinks including bottles to go.
