A cheeseburger with a beef patty, cheese, and lettuce on a bun, served with crinkle-cut fries on a metal tray outdoors.

We went here one evening to try the OTP burger. I recommend FTK, as it's a clean and well maintained space with different food options and even trivia some nights. There is plenty of seating and the staff is friendly. As for OTP, we weren't impressed. The burger was average. Too much dry bun and not enough flavor. The special sauce tasted like potato salad and was not great on a burger.

I was told they had brisket tacos that were like birria tacos - which happen to be my favorite but are hard to find. There are 3 Test Kitchen restaurants, plus an offshoot of Sun King (main restaurant is connected). I went for dinner and got a Juicy Brisket Taco and a Juicy Pork Taco from Gorditos. They were good. I liked the pork taco the best. The description actually says that the pork taco is their take on the birria which is usually beef. There is also a Sun King bar in the space and lots of tables. I sat at the bar, got a drink, and ate there. The bartender was great. It was very busy in the space, and looks like it is a very popular place. I want to try the other Test Kitchen restaurants.

Jambalaya was delish!

For a first-timer, it's a little confusing and there's not much direction. It wasn't clear if we were allowed to sit at the tables so we sat at the bar. Some of the food was delicious and I can highly recommend it. It would have been nice to meet the chefs but they were not there. Thankfully there was one guy behind the counter at the middle restaurant and he helped guide us through ordering everything. Yes- jambalaya and carnitas tacos No- wings & Sunking

The Test Kitchen is attached to the Fishers' Sun King Brewery, in that awesome area near IKEA. This is the second time we've tried to eat lunch here... the first time the table ordering system was down and the lines at the kitchen kiosks were not moving, so we left. Today, we tried again and found the table ordering system was down again. You're supposed to be able to sit down and scan the card at your table and order from any of the kitchens, and it will be brought to your table. Frustratingly, was down again. Simple enough, you can order at the kiosks up front. The place was pretty empty and there were no employees to ask questions of. Once we put our order in, it said we could get our own soft drinks but there was no one behind the counters to give us cups. I kept standing there for 10 minutes just to see if I could go ahead and get my cups for drinks. There is a separate area that's just the bar and I walked over there and flagged down a male employee who at first told me I had to wait for my food to come out and they'd give me my cups then. When I nicely said I'd just like to be able to go ahead and get my drink, he proceeded to walk back over to the counter I'd been waiting at and reached across and grabbed my cups. It was only right after that that someone came from the back and started making our order. So at that point, our order had been in for more than ten minutes and they were just coming from the back to start it. And no, there were no other orders at that point. I sat down and watched and waited and did receive the text that our order was ready for pickup at the counter. By the time I made ten steps to pick up my food, the lady had already disappeared back into the back. My food was just left sitting there. The food was good... nothing spectacular but definitely not bad. We had Gorditas tacos... chicken, brisket, pork... and street corn and chips, salsa, queso. But we won't be back. We were almost done with our food when a female bartender walked the floor and asked if I wanted anything else to drink... by then my answer was no. The Carmel Sun King Brewery just seems to have their act together much better than this location. I love the concept but if it doesn't work the way it should, it doesn't work.

Food quality was perfect for the price point. Pairing with the amazing options of Sun King brews, we had a good time.

Finally got to try Fishers Test Kitchen, what a great concept! It was very busy on a Thursday evening and there was a wait to get a table. Parking is difficult, and traffic can be bad with drivers speeding around searching for a parking space. It was raining heavily and several drivers were simply leaving their vehicles in the street while they went inside to pick up food. The unoccupied vehicles in the street caused congestion when other drivers couldn't get around them. Other drivers began driving in the wrong lane to get around the unoccupied vehicles, a real traffic mess. For an appetizer I tried some Oui Oui style fries at One Trick Pony. Fries were excellent, topped with gravy and grilled onions. A nice starter. For our meal we went to Gordito's Rustbelt Tacos & Tortas. This place was outstanding! We were able to sit inside, as there are several seats at a counter. It was definitely entertaining to watch the chef at work while eating our meal. We ordered Nachitos Gordito's. The tortilla chips are house-made, and the refried banzogis have an amazing flavor and texture. Drizzled with peach morita, which was smoky and spicy, one of the best salsas I have ever tried. We ordered an extra side to drizzle on our tacos as well. We ordered slow roasted chicken tacos and juicy vegetarian banzogis tacos. We tried the orange sauce and green sauce, each was mildly spicy and full of flavor. Service was enthusiastic and excellent, the menu was explained thoroughly with a description of each item, side, and salsa. You can tell these guys really love what they do and the recipes and combinations they create. An epic experience! I really like Fishers Test Kitchen, with the exception of the parking problem. Maybe party isn't always an issue but tonight, on a rainy Thursday evening it was quite brutal.

If you have not been to Fishers Test Kitchen yet, you definitely have to check it out! It is a Sunking Brewery with Cafeteria style food options. We ate the One Trick Pony and my boyfriend said it's one of the best smash burgers he has ever had. The burgers come with "dandy sauce" which is similar to Big Mac sauce. If you plan to dine in, make sure you talk to the front desk first to get a table. They're great and the reservation process is super easy. There are other options there right now too and we can't want to try the others!

Hair!!!

Wonderful! I found a long hair stuck on the chicken tender. I could clearly see this belonged to a female employee. They need a hair cover while making the food. This is not acceptable at all!

Fishers Test Kitchen's Signature Table -- Serendipity House pop up event #yum #ReviewsByRL
Raena L.

We ate at the Signature Table inside the Fishers Test Kitchen, which is inside the Sun King Brewery. The Signature Table area features different pop up restaurants in an intimate bar counter style seating (seats about 8 or 10, I think). We attended when it was Serendipity Public House, and had a delicious meal of gourmet burgers -- we got a combo pack for $25 and it featured a mini crab cake, mini elk burger, mini chimi-burger, mini brie burger, mini bacon jam burger, and the house made tator tots with with truffle oil and parmasean topping. The hubs & I are big eaters, but this was enough for two of us with leftovers to take home! Alcohol is available from the on-site Sun King. (I had the sour cherry, which I enjoyed.) It was all a #yum. I have signed up for the Test Kitchen newsletter to stay up to date about what else will be hosted here -- so fun! (Dec update: they were doing masks when we were there but have posted that events are currently suspended with covid.) Also, when I called to reserve our pop up seat, and then the person who checked us in wand was so pleasant and helpful was none other than the founder, Jolene Katzenberger, so that was cool to get to chat with her a bit (which she was gracious to do, even though she was busy). I would definitely go back for more pop up events, as well as to try the "regular" offerings from the Test Kitchen. #ReviewsByRL

Fishers Test Kitchen is the best thing since sliced bread. Especially when that bread is actually a mini bao bun with fried chicken and spicy honey on it. What is it you ask?! Fishers Test Kitchen is essentially a space (within/next to Sun King Brewery) that houses three food vendors who only signed a year-long lease to kickstart a new foodie business venture. At the end of the year, they can renew the lease or end it, which allows them to attempt experimental dishes without much risk. Currently, the Test Kitchen hosts: - Korave: a Korean bbq, fast-casual spot that offers tacos, dubbop (rice bowl with either bulgogi beef, chicken, pork or tofu), bulgogi poutine, mee-chin nachos, and mandoo (Korean dumplings). I enjoyed the beef bulgogi bowl with purple rice and it was AMAZING. It's the item I'll come back for. - Lil' Dumplings: a spot that cooks up 'global street food' and offers chicharones, Szechuan hot chicken steam buns, oyaki cheesesteak dumplings, lamb chili & cheese dog, avocado huarache, lobster corn dog fritters, falafel, okonomiyaki smashburgers, and a kid's menu. The chef is also the co-owner of Rook downtown, which is already one of the city's favorite spots. I tried the hot chicken steam bun and although it was a bit too spicy for my palate, it was good and I enjoyed watching how much care chef Carlos took in making it. - Natural State Provisions: a southern food spot that uses natural ingredients and is brought to us by the owners of King Dough. They make salads, fried chicken sandwiches, pulled pork sandwiches, big turkey sandwiches on texas toast, burgers on texas toast, biscuit egg sandwiches, or sides of collard greens, tots, coleslaw, desserts, etc. I haven't tried this one yet but I'll be back for that chopped salad! - The Signature Table: described as "a performance and teaching kitchen designed for dinners, tasting events and classes with top chefs, beverage specialists and creative food artisans from around the region." You can attend an event or book out room for yourself (fits about 12 people) and it was built in an effort to make the area more entrepreneurial. My initial thoughts are: wow, I'm so happy we have a food hall that is supporting local chefs so well. I also am thrilled to have the opportunity to try so many new foods that we didn't have in the neighborhood. I do wish that there were a few healthier options (seems to be a lot of fried things), but it is attached to a brewery, so I understand those pairings. Go explore it for yourself!

Inspo by Chef Kelsey Murphy - Lobster Mac And Cheese: Gruyere + Smoked Gouda + Cheddar + Panko and Parmesan Crust
Rina N.

Review of Inspo I have tried and loved all the concepts that have come through Fishers Test Kitchen and I'm a fan. All the chefs are rock stars. I mean, who doesn't love Chef Carlos Salazar or Chef Neal Brown?!! However, I was truly excited to meet MasterChef Kelsey Murphy. She is just as sweet as she was on TV and her food is fantastic. I'll admit, I could not make a decision between two very different dishes so I ordered them both. I don't mind leftovers. The lobster Mac and Cheese was deliciously decadent with the perfect balance of lobster and cheesy pasta. However, in my opinion, the shining star is the Ancient Grain Bowl. I'm originally from San Diego and this bowl captured the essence of Southern California. It made me miss home. Well done, Chef Kelsey, you'll be seeing more of me. p.s. Don't forget to check out my photos including the menu with full descriptions of the dishes.

A lot of space that could have tables

We decided to venture up to Fishers to try the Test Kitchen inside Sun King. I love the concept and very excited for the first batch of kitchens. There are 3 kitchens: Natural State Provisions, Korave, and Lil Dumplings. We tried foods from the later two. Because those two concepts work well to mix and match and try more things, they had higher foot traffic. Natural State is also unfortunately tucked in the corner more. Korave: Bulgogi poutine and street tacos (3) one of each of the meat proteins. Bulgogi beef, gochu pork, and chicken. I am writing this in order of favorites. Anything bulgogi is amazing and glad there is a place to get it around here. Pork was solid but do yourself a favor and let the grease run out of it before your first bite. Poutine is a large portion and is made for sharing or your whole meal. This plus a fountain drink was $25. A bit pricey but delicious! Lil Dumpling: having enjoyed Chef Carlos's food elsewhere I was excited to see what he came up with. We tried the Szechuan hot chicken steamed bun (I love steamed buns!). This was not hot spicy but did have a spice in it I found odd. I couldn't place it. My husband loved it and could eat it over and over. We also tried the lamb chili and cheese dog. Having had the lamb hot dogs in Iceland, we were intrigued. Nothing that exciting and it states cheese. I was expecting anything else but goat cheese! I love goat cheese but maybe not on this. This was $11 total. Seating was hard to find on a Saturday. I would never take a large group here with no guaranteed seating especially in the winter, but that's what many did. We shared a table with another couple upstairs. I think the space used for regulation size cornhole could have been better used for tables. Very loud in a enclosed warehouse and my table was in firing aim if someone were to have a bad throw or drunk. (They know it's a full bar right?!) Overall the food was great! I want to come back to try a sandwich from Natural State and the fried steamed bun dessert from Lil Dumplings. Probably not on a weekend however!

Overall this is great place to relax with decent food. The table service was really nice however the chairs themselves are not realistic to sit in. I would recommend not sitting at the tables with black chairs as they are not anywhere comfortable. In addition they don't have real silverware(not the most eco friendly for starters), so make sure to get black ones. They are much more durable, the white one was literally bending as I was cutting. Also kinda funny odd placement of trashcans. I think this is due to SunKing wanting to have servers take on this task. The bathrooms are nice and new feeling. The overall food selection was wide as it ranged from $5-$15. Confirmed that there are no discounts ; no military, senior, college. For food: The pulled pork soda sandwich was good however rather fatty and the flavor was lacking in the larger pieces. I'd recommend separating larger pieces to help marinate. The falafel was really good and had a good about of flavor depth. The kimchi was average, not much spice but some. The poutine was good however I would have liked to see a sauce to make it a poutine(no sauce makes it more just loaded fries).

A sandwich with shredded meat, lettuce, and bread is shown, wrapped in red and white checkered paper, with a drink featuring a cartoon face logo in the background.

Food takes a while. Don't expect to be in and out within 30 mins. Cool concept though with the Sun King beers.

We visited on Valentine's Day and immediately noticed the pricing did not match what was listed online. Every entrée that day ranged from $15.95 to $19.95. If there's holiday pricing, it should be clearly reflected online. Transparency matters. They now charge $1.50 per additional vegetable beyond the cabbage included with the meal. The rice portion was excessive and took up most of the container. My chicken was overcooked, and my seasoning somehow ended up in the shrimp. Everything else lacked any flavoring. I'm pollo-pescatarian, and within 30 minutes, I was dealing with gastrointestinal issues. It felt like there was no separation between proteins when food was cooked, which led to cross-contamination and likely contributed to my getting sick. My husband ordered steak, chicken, and shrimp. He said the steak was overly salty and that both the steak and the chicken were overcooked. Our son ordered steak and chicken hibachi and was so dissatisfied that he ordered steak tacos from another restaurant afterward. Another son ordered the salmon hibachi. The salmon was thin, heavily covered in sauce, overcooked, and the packaging looked sloppy. We spent over $100, excluding the separate order from another restaurant, and as of 2/15, all four containers are still mostly full. That tells you everything. I will be contacting the business to share this experience directly. For that price point, we expected properly prepared and cooked food, transparent pricing, and safe food-handling practices. Unfortunately, this location is no longer on our list. **UPDATE** After my visit, I reviewed recent Marion County Health Department inspection reports and noted multiple critical violations related to improper food holding temperatures, cooling practices, and storage. While violations were reportedly corrected at the time, this added to my concern, given my experience.

However, today I found myself needing multiple items that could all be found within the confines of Castleton and knew that I was going to be in that area anyway. So, mask in hand I headed this direction hoping that current health directives were being enforced and that I wouldn't come home with any dastardly viruses. It's not particularly surprising that the mall has experienced some turnover over the course of these months including businesses leaving and businesses arriving. This business, Fresh Burger, takes over the spot vacated by another burger vendor - Indy Burger. Fresh Burger is, as you could probably guess, a burger joint. It's a fairly basic burger joint that opened up in late October and serves a handful of different burgers (made with 100% halal beef), housemade chicken fingers, a chili dog, milkshakes, ice cream, and some sides including some fry variations. They serve fountain soft drinks plus lemonade. I did not see any iced tea options on the menu. The prices are pretty reasonable - you can definitely eat for under a ten spot. You can order a sandwich alone and add fries and a drink for $3.29. As noted, Fresh Burger is located inside the food court. It's easily accessible since all mall entryways include automated doors and the food court is still open concept. Masks are being enforced. Tables are all 6' apart. This has reduced capacity for sure, but it feels safer. I had to hunt for a place to eat, but I'd rather have that than a virus. I ordered a burger, fries, and a lemonade. My meal came in right about $7.52. The staff was friendly, though it seemed their business was slow and, as such, it seemed like response time was a bit slow. I initially waited a couple minutes at the counter and watched while 1-2 customers did the same. It wasn't bad at all, but definitely noticeable. How was the food? Quite middling. I actually would say it was somewhat better than Indy Burger. The fries were slightly thicker, though I felt like they were a bit rushed since I was actively waiting. They were salted a bit more than I typically prefer. The burger was delivered as ordered and was on a lightly toasted bun. It was decent enough - it's the only burger option in the mall, so if you're craving a burger it'll probably satisfy the craving. I didn't dislike anything, but I'm not sure there was anything here that would make me jump to Fresh Burger as my first choice in this food court considering chick-fil-a and a pizza joint remain options here. However, if I were craving a burger or even a shake the reasonable prices would be enough to convince me to eat here again.

Visited 2 years ago…read more.. Goodness is what's cooking at cafe Korea unfortunately the services doesn't deliver. Arrived at the establishment at 6:39pm on a Sunday. Wanted to scout some cool places to take the parents. Greeted by a lovely woman and seated immediately. Let's call the waiter Joe the Sloth, greater us with the same enthusiasm as the hostess after about a 10 min wait in a half capacity restaurant. Ordered coke and a water which came out 7 mins later. There was enough time to scour the extensive menu and formulate some great questions. Joe the Knowledgeable even helped pick out a nice bottle of Black Cherry Wine. And this is where Joe became the absentee. Food came out a whopping 47 mins later for one entree and about an additional 21 extra mins for the other dish. There was a larger table behind us that I guess waited longer and were supplied with so many of the 6 available sides they were "Sided-Out". Joe the unapologetic refused to refill the side dishes that we requested. Joe the "I have better things to do", never checked on us except to ask if we wanted a box. Joe the "I will not acknowledge that I never refilled the sides". Joe the "It's the Kitchens fault that your food came out weird". Joe the "let's walk off in the middle of your sentence." (I kid you not). Joe the "I want you to know how much I hate my job because I refuse to do my job." Couldn't even remember how good the food was because the service was so bad. This goes out to Joe who soured my experience and made my Sunday feel like thee worst Pre-Monday.
