I don't write reviews often, but this experience made me make an exception. Pros: The dining area looks very nice and I enjoyed the decor. That's it. That's all the pros. Cons: My partner and I decided to stop here on our way to an event for dinner. We had 40 minutes to get to a place 5 minutes away from this restaurant. We figured we had plenty of time. When we walked in, all staff were on their phones and did not notice us. There was ONE customer in the dinning area. We had to approach staff because not only were they on their phones around the corner from the only guest, they all had their backs turned to the door. It's possible the place has a bell or something to alert staff to customers. If so, no one could hear it because the place had Spotify playing excessively loudly. After we got the attention of staff and were seated, the waitress walked away and stared into her phone for 10 minutes before coming to ask for our drink order. We told her we wanted to order fully. We had to repeat our order MULTIPLE TIMES because she could not hear us over the music and we could not hear her. We asked if the music could be turned down three times and were refused. After placing our order, she came back shortly to tell us they did not have the appetizer we ordered and tried to get us to order a specific app we did not want and had no interest in. Eventually, we were served our burgers with 15 minutes left to eat and pay if we did not want to be late. When we got our food, both of our orders were wrong. My partner attempted to call out to the waitress (who was on her phone again), but could not be heard over the music. I had to SHOUT "Ma'am" at the waitress standing 10 feet away to get her attention because the music was so loud. We told her the burgers were incorrect and we needed to send them back. She tried to talk to us but no one could hear each other because of the constant music playing. She got the manager who came and asked what was wrong. We explained that one of the burgers should have been plain and the other should have had only lettuce on it. We then showed her that my burger had all condiments listed on the menu on it and my partner's burger had toppings that weren't even listed on the burger to begin with, including pickles which we both have mild allergies to. After the manager herself took our order, she came back with a menu and tried to justify somehow both the one burger made to menu standard and the surprise toppings on the other. Less than a minute afterwards, my partner's burger was brought out finally made correctly. She did not tell me until we left they had simply scraped off the condiments from the bun and she could still taste them on the burger and bun. She stopped eating after three bites. Several minutes later (and now making us late to our event), my food was brought. It was also made wrong yet again, but it was also plain now. My partner left the dinning room to take a call and to escape the noise of the music. I asked the manager lady for the bill and mentioned how they still had not made my burger as ordered. She apologized and said she would discount the tab for the troubles. The bill was not brought to the table until AFTER I had fully finished my sandwich. Neither of us were given any napkins or silverware at all, and my burger came with a sticky sauce I had to wash off in the restroom. The initial waitress brought me our bill. There was zero discount at all. I tipped incredibly low. I will never, under ANY circumstance, return to this establishment. For less than half of the price of two meals made incorrectly and lazily "fixed", I could have driven across 56th street to Burger King and gotten a burger made correctly and not have had to spend an hour being subjected to somebody's terrible rap music Spotify playlist (which included the song "My D*ck" by Mickey Avalon) being blasted so loudly that I got a headache from it. I wish them the very worst of success. read more

We decided to stop by for dinner after rolling the dice for a burger and looking for a new place to try. It was disappointing to find the restaurant completely empty on a Thursday night at 6 PM. The restaurant has a charming atmosphere with wooden decor, bar signs, and plants all around, complemented by a game playing on mute. A friendly man seated us and brought out water right away. We quickly noticed that they offer a burger with peanut butter, bacon, and jalapeños (similar to the one that used to be served at Scott's Brewhouse). We tried the Indy Burger, and it was delicious. Our burgers arrived fresh and quickly, accompanied by wonderful, crispy fries. There were plenty of options for fries at no extra cost, which was a great bonus. We also sampled the churro filled with chocolate, and it was the perfect sweet treat. We will definitely return and hope to see more customers next time! read more

I've been bummed ever since Punch Burger disappeared from Downtown. But I'm glad to say the waffle fries live on at The Burger Joint. Small place located near the Walmart at 56th & Emerson/Fall Creek on the near NE side. Plenty of parking. Very cute interior, maybe 2 doz tables and also a bar area. My coworker and I went around 11:45 on a weekday, so right before any lunch rush. There was one person in the bar area but we were the only others at that time. I did notice theyr wer doing some take out, too. Not having been there before, we asked our waitress what her favorite was and she said "it's all good" -- which is a "correct" response for staff, but really, we were interested in what she would personally recommend. So that didn't help us narrow down anything. The menu has salads, sliders, apps, more ... but being "The Burger Joint" we decided we should try burgers. I had the Hawaiian burger with regular fries, and my friend had the regular burger but wrapped in lettuce (she has to be gluten free) and the sweet potato fries. The burgers were good, nothing great but nothing bad. The sweet potato fries were kind of thin and not too flavorful. The star of the meal were my fries-- nice thicker cut and served very hot. (IF they did their sweet potato fries like that, they would be amazing!) Over the time of our being there, a couple other tables did get filled, but nothing too crazy. The one thing that mgmnt should be aware of is, where our table was, it was definitely competing sounds with very loud music in the kitchen versus the dining room music. Made it hard to talk, and that was without many other people in there! And honestly, our service was ... off. I like to give grace and you never know what is going on with someone. We were not diffcult customers, really easy orders and trying to be friendly, just not getting any of those vibes in return. This new restaurant is located in an up in coming strip mall. They have decent sized private lot that it shares with the other businesses in the strip mall. They offer dine-in and take out. I liked the restaurants hip and trendy vibe. The staff there was friendly, welcoming and helpful. They have a decent sized dining area with tables, chairs and high-tops. There is also a bar with seating. The bar is not a full service bar. They only serve beer. There is a seated waiting area up front, with padded benches. Additionally, there was music playing throughout the restaurant. I was solo, so, I just sat at the bar. As for the menu, they serve salads, chicken sandwiches, sandwiches, and of course, exotic signature burgers. They also have some savory flavored lemonades. I got the mango lemonade and it was very delicious. Just keep in mind that you have to pay for refills though. I ordered the Choriburger, which came with fries. It took about 12 minutes for me to get my food and it was hot and fresh. At first glance, I was like, "where's the beef", but it was very filling and, in the end, I could not eat all of it. It was very flavorful and tasty. A very unique burger that I have never had before. I highly recommend it. I also highly recommend checking this joint out as well. If you've ever been to Indy's Burger Joint on Indy's southside, then you already have a good idea of what to expect from their recently opened sister restaurant The Burger Joint right at Emerson and Fall Creek Parkway in a strip center that houses Subway, ATI Physical Therapy, and La Cantina Mexican Restaurant. This spot is a little iffy already having housed two restaurants that didn't make it - Great American Pizza Company and Streeet Eatz. This is a super busy corner for restaurants with Lincoln Square, Peace of Mind Pub & Eatery, Hardee's, Taco Bell, and Burger King all joining the aforementioned right at this corner along with a couple primarily takeout joints - Golden Chef and Garrett's BBQ. The Burger Joint only opened soft this week. The word's not out yet. I'll openly admit that my 5-star rating is generous. I mean, hey, it's really just a burger joint. However, the atmosphere is welcoming and the service is super friendly. I'd probably call this a 4-star, however, in the spirit of supporting the new kid on the block I'm going with a 5-star based on quality food, fair prices, a good atmosphere, and friendly service. If you've been to the southside spot, then you already know this is a place that is casual but serious about burgers. The southside location reminds me of a Waffle House, but the food is quite a bit better. The southside location is definitely more run down and, well, dirtier. I would call it a relatively clean dive. This building really isn't that old. This spot is definitely not run down, though it's nothing fancy. There's accessible parking easily available and appropriate curb cuts. As you enter, there's a little bar area in the middle (If I understood right they'll have beer soon and hope to expand. I don't believe they have any alcohol right now and I don't see any on the menu) with a row of tables on both sides. The front window also has some high-top tables. There are booths and traditional tables and lots of spaces for a wheelchair user. The hostess, only in her second day, clearly understood accessibility and she and one of the servers moved a chair. The menu emphasizes burgers, of course, though there are other sandwich options, appetizers, salads, and hand crafted milkshakes. They do have iced tea and they serve Pepsi products. I ordered an "Original Burger" - essentially your basic burger. It says plain, though mine did come with lettuce, tomato, and pickles. The fries are very nicely seasoned. The serving size was decent, though not outstanding. I did get my always desired refill. My bill came in at under $15 without a tip. I think that's pretty good for a dine-in experience. These days, it's pretty easy to spend $10 or more at a fast food joint. For an extra $5, I got a better atmosphere, better food, and service. As Yelp Elite Jemmie likes to point out, Indy is heavy with burgers and this area definitely is heavy with burgers. Heck, it's not too far away to get to Culver's. However, I could easily see this place becoming a neighborhood favorite like Lincoln Square. While a couple restaurants haven't made it in this area, most of the restaurants on this corner are doing just fine. While it's arguable that we sure didn't need another burger joint, this neighborhood definitely needed another quality place to have a dine-in meal with good food and service. I called in to place my order. I went in to pay and was greeted after she finished taking another to go order. While on the phone, she said I can add anything on my veggie burger. I added fried jalapeños and didn't know it was up upcharge until I got my receipt. They offered a black bean burger vs an impossible burger which was a plus. I went to The Burger Joint today for lunch on the recommendation of a friend. I always go to a new restaurant with high expectations....especially when someone has had a great experience there! I ordered the Sliders with Garlic Parmesan Fries while my friend ordered the Mushroom Swiss Burger with Onion Rings. I specifically asked that ketchup not be added to my sliders...but guess what? This is a brand new spot and hard to find unless you're looking for it. Just off of 56th and Emerson. Food is great, but they still have a limited drink menu (only beer) and the service is a little slow, but I attribute that to them just opening and getting the hang of things. I got the pulled pork burger with a side of chili cheese fries. The fries were perfectly crisp and they added sour cream and bacon I didn't expect but was a plus, however they also added raw jalapeño slices that threw the flavor off, no big deal I simply moved them to the side, maybe if they were picked or sautéed it would have gone better. The pulled pork burger was good a bit sweet with all the bbq sauce, the meat was warm not hot. I definitely want to try something different next time. There is plenty of seating if you have a large group, and the place is clean. The waitress was friendly and kept checking in. We have tried the burgers, fries, garlic parm fries, shakes, and the chicken fingers. I can't find anything negative to say except for that the food is TOO good and it's going to be a problem for my waistline. So happy to have The Burger Joint in the neighborhood! I've been waiting for this place to open, and man is it good! My husband and I have eaten here twice. We ordered the cheese curds each visit with extra ranch. The ranch is delicious! As far as burgers go, we've had: Ranchero, Classic, and Santa Fe. I've gotten the onion rings twice, and my husband goes with the fries. The food is a 10/10 for us! Service is spot on. Nonw od the burgers come with condiments just lettuce and other toppings so you have to request those just a heads up. The rise & shine burger aomea with cheese, bacon and an egg..it was really good. There was a language barrier with our server and another server but they have other Staff there that are pretty fluent in English so that helped. Once we finally got the order placed everything was cool. My friend got a strawberry shake and said it was really good. Thwy drank it down before the food came our. We had the option to pick side of course for a fee. We switched to loaded rots instead of fries and it was close to $5 upchargw. That was kind of steep to me. I got regular fries they were good. Service was fast and overall friendly. We went during lunch hours. It was steady amd still comfortable. The place isn't very big at all but with the steady stream of customers it didn't seem like we were on top of each other...now I definitely could hear other people's conversations but it's roomy enough. When I got my bill they charged me $13.99. I had to tell the waitress to get this fixed. People just need to check their bill to make sure they are not being over charged. read more
