We first sat on the patio but we felt that as the sun started to set, the temp would drop, so we moved inside instead, after already being sat. She did a great job communicating between the kitchen due to one of us having a unique allergy - just very nice and on top of her game! (Congrats again, grad!) Everything was delicious! It was the first super nice and warm day of the season and I wanted to find a pet friendly patio for lunch. I brought my cat on a leash/in a backpack and all the servers loved her. I get nervous bringing her places because I don't know how people will react, but they were so happy to have us. Daffy let the servers pet her (one even rubbed her belly!) and it just made our day! You want the best Mac & Cheese in Indy? Fire by the Monon is a real contender! I got the Dirty Mac & Cheese, which has pulled pork in it and even though this is considered an appetizer, you can 100% make this a meal. The portion size is perfect! I loved the smoky addition of the pulled pork to the mac and it was such a comfort food moment. My mom ordered the fish and chips and said they might be the best fish & chips she's ever eaten. We were very satisfied with our meal and I feel like this place is kind of a hidden gem in Broad Ripple. I don't really hear people talking about it and honestly only picked it out because I'm doing an A - Z restaurant challenge and it fit my letter "F." In the summer they have outdoor seating so I can imagine it's a great spot for grabbing food with family and friends and enjoying a meal on the patio. We'll definitely be back! read more

Had some family in town and found ourselves in the Broadripple area at lunch time. A quick yelp search pointed us to Fire By The Monon. I had to try their breaded tenderloin sandwich. The breading to meat ratio was on point, and was seasoned well. The tenderloin was a little chewy in places, but overall good and nicely sized (folded over the meat to fit on the bun). Lettuce, onion, and tomato was included. Onion rings on the side were beer battered in house and were also pretty good. One of my dining partners had "The Pasture" which is a grilled pork ribeye sandwich. She thought it was good and thought the aioli was well executed. A side of sweet potato fries complemented it well (and was a quite large serving). Another in out party had a burger and thought it was good and cooked properly, etc. Finally one other in out party had the Caprese sandwich. She thought the chicken was juicy and tender. A side of roasted veggie medley was well received and was a sizable portion. Service was very good (personable and quick). The tacos had great flavor, but the corn tortillas fell apart when I picked them up. The flatbread was tasty--not your traditional flatbread, more like cheesy breadsticks, but still really good. However, I wish that they were a little bit more covered with the batter and I wish that they came in chip form instead of spear or long form. The dip was 10/10. For an entrée, I got the fish tacos and they were delicious. They were probably the best fish tacos that I've ever had. I got fries with the fish tacos and the fries were nothing special. Someone else at the table got a tenderloin, and that was also great. It was a good thickness and had good breading and it was also huge. One here for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The atmosphere inside was pretty nice, Moody lighting, and we got sat at a table. The scenery inside looks like it was meant to be for brunch, which I believe they do serve during the weekends. We started up with a side salad, which came pretty quickly. The items were provided in the same bulb, put out to different sections of the bowl. We cut and mix it ourselves, and enjoyed the flavors of the ranch and the components. We each got a burger, mine was barbecue, bacon and white cheddar cheese, which I really enjoyed. My girlfriend got the other burger, which she enjoyed as well. We got a chocolate lava cake for dessert, which was pretty impressive. The best lava cake I've had in Indianapolis, though I can't say I remember having any others in the area. All in all, I would recommend going to this place, and making it a local favor if you live in the area. We were in Indiana for a few days looking t colleges. This was our best meal by far! Such a cute red house in a little neighborhood that felt like it was off the beaten path. The inside looked ok but the patio was lovely and had a nice vibe. We got a burger (my teen foodie son said it might have been the best one he's ever had,) the carnivore flatbread (nice smokey pulled pork- good, but a little heavy for me. Fire by the Monon is one of a kind. It's tucked away in Broad Ripple, so if you don't know where you're going, you should definitely use your GPS to find it. The place has a charm, combining an old house and café atmosphere. Everyone is friendly, and the servers are attentive. I always order the same thing when I visit, which is the Grouper Reuben. However, on my next visit, I plan to try something new. This sandwich is amazing, but you might want to consider getting your sauces on the side, as it can get messy. Stopped in here with my daughter and grandson for lunch. We were seated immediately upon entering. Our waitress brought our menus and water. I ordered a cocktail, Apples to Apples. The cocktail was an Apple Brandy based cocktail and I really did not care for it, it was overly sweet and almost a bit syrupy. We ordered our lunch and my grandson had the cheeseburger and fries while my daughter had the pork tenderloin and fries, I ordered the pork nachos as I had heard so much about them. Sorry about this but I was not a fan of the nachos, something in the ingredients that I did not like. I ate two and took the rest home for the hubby to eat. My daughter liked her pork tenderloin as it was on the thinner side like she likes them. The grandson at the majority of his burger and fries. I've heard great things about the Hoosier Pork Tenderloin here. I'm a displaced Hoosier so every time I come home I find a new place to try the tenderloin sandwich. We decided to order one and split it. I loved the fact that they split our sandwich and brought each half out with its own condiments and veggies. I ordered fries and my bestie had sweet potato fries. I would call the sandwich good but not great. It felt a little under seasoned and over breaded. Both of our fries were good. We ordered the spinach and artichoke dip as an appetizer the dip was excellent. The chips weren't. We also had the brownie which was divine. Above all else the service was great. Stopped in for lunch at this quaint restaurant by the Monon Trail. Lots of windows making it cheery on a sunny day. Our server Jacob had good recommendations and quickly served us. We read good reviews on the pulled pork nachos. They make their own chips and load each chip individually, perfect way to serve nachos. They were delicious each one loaded with flavor. Another satisfying visit. We went for breaded tenderloins today and they knocked them out of the park! (This is in my top 3 tenderloins for sure.) If you're not from Indiana, it's a whole thing. My other favorite on the menu is the Greuben, a fish take on the classic Reuben. The table had two of those today also. No complaints at Fire by the Monon. Fire is one of my favorite restaurants in Indianapolis. We live nearby, and Broadripple has no lack of options, and we end up at Fire more often than not. I love tenderloin sandwiches, and theirs is one of the best in the state. Their fish tacos are so good that sometimes I skip the tenderloin! Their soups are delicious. The barbecue, which they do themselves, is on point. Higher and entrées are also good. And their salads... yum. And if you have still have space, the bread pudding it's worth getting, even if you just order it to go! It's not fancy, but it's a great place for a casual dinner, a special dinner, or your mom's birthday. read more

It had been awhile since we were able to go into Fire By The Monon and sit down to eat. We loved the restaurant pre Covid and due to Covid the hours are a little sketchy. We were happy to see that they were open and had some seating. During Covid (under certain hours I would order pick up). The service in the bar area was ok. I understand that they were taking care of the bar patrons along with those that sat outside. The food came out as ordered piping hot and delicious . My only downside was whoever was helping clean the tables brought in a dog bowl and just left it on the counter. I know I love my dog as well but we don't eat at the same table. That just somehow brother me and when the guy that was helping in the bar finally moved it he never washed his hands. Rather frustrating in these times. I guess Covid has made me more aware and become a germaphobic because I could not stop paying attention to what was going on. Got together with friends for dinner last Wednrsday. I arrived first and went inside and was immediately greeted and led to a table. The server brought four glasses of water though I was the only one seated at the time. Would have made more sense to bring the water as pple arrived but no biggie. After my friends arrived we discussed the different offerings and asked our server for his opinion. Based on his opinion I got the grueben sandwich with sweet potato fries and my friend got fish n chips with a side of onion rings. Our friend got the cubano burger and fries. She was confused as she thought it was just a Cuban sandwich but it's a burger with typical Cuban sandwich stuff on it so it was hefty. When the food came out, the portions were more than enough. My friend didn't get the fries he had ordered but since there was so much food. He didn't mention it. Overall the food was delicious, hot and filling. The fish on my sandwich was very thin and thanks to everything on the sandwich, the tastes muddled together but not in a bad way. I didn't eat the bread on the second half of my sandwich as I noticed Ed when I went yo pick up the sandwich that the bread was soggy. This is probably from the coleslaw on the sandwich. We agreed the food was great and well worth it and it was nice to have leftovers to take home. read more

Tenderloins are my wife and I favorites. It is the meal we order out the most. I heard about Fire By The Monon on line so we made a trip down to broad ripple and was the first one in. So far, the Tenderloin has been the absolute best we have ever had. It was moist, tender, and not overly breaded or oily. But that's not all. We had the sweet potatoes fry's and they were excellent!!! Since moving to the area in 2006, I have been looking for excellent fry's. I found a few that were good, but none that was as good as this!! After 20 years, I found some good fries!! But, there is more!! The chipolte sauce was homemade and superb as well as the pickle. It takes me a half an hour to get there, but it is absolutely worth it. Our server was also superb! A pleasure to talk with and made us feel very welcomed! The place was very clean and not loud at all. I was able to talk with my wife without having to scream. I do not think you will be disappointed in the place. GO NOW!!! read more

Popped in for late lunch since I was in the neighborhood. All the burgers are yummy here--they use Angus beef and it's delicious. TBH, my 'go to' lunch is generally the Fish Tacos. I highly recommend them too. Although today I was in a "burger mood" and the burger of the day--bacon, caramelized onions, BBQ sauce and gouda--scratched that itch. And, they use Angus beef!! I came for the nachos!! I loved the nachos, while I am not a huge pork fan, I was intrigued by the photos others have posted. I love that the actual chip is loaded with refried beans, meat jalapeños and cheese. There was also sour cream, guacamole and salsa for dipping. The pork was a little dry to me but dipping them in ranch/bbq sauce helped. We also had a flatbread pizza. It was ok. The service was good! No complaints there. Stopped in for a bite before a concert at The Vogue. Service was great, bartender was super friendly but the food was pretty average IMO. Fried pickles - fried sandwich slices, was hard to eat without the breading slipping off the pickle. Was fried well but flavor was just fine. Tenderloin - standard tenderloin sandwich, again well fried but nothing mind blowing Fish & Chips - GF got this and could barely get through one piece. Huge pieces of fish but very dry & overcooked. She did like the sweet potato fries. Might be a case of ordering the wrong things (flatbreads & nachos that came out for other people looked really good), would probably give another shot as service was really good. read more
