Walking in at 11:30 we were one of the first customers. We were asked,"table or booth" handed menus and waited. Our server asked for our drink order. My husband ordered a margarita and he brought it right back. I ordered a coke and it took awhile to get. We ordered ground beef taco salads. They were awful. I had a at least 1/4 cup of liquid in the bottom of the shell. The burger was strange. I could not eat it No lettuce was on I the salad. It was more like a garnish When I showed it to the waiter he shrugged his shoulders. I asked if it was always that way, he shrugged his shoulders. I then told him to take it away He then asked if I wanted something else and I ordered chicken tacos saying I would make my own salad. Although not great much better. My husband asked for more lettuce to make his salad better. (It had water also). He was charged $1.25 for the lettuce then asked if I was going to eat the cheese and lettuce on my taco. After adding all this an extra chips he could eat his salad After bringing the check, the waiter once again asked if we were satisfied. Authentic Mexican dishes served well in a fun and energetic atmosphere that makes you feel like you are a part of a big, Mexican family. We have been here for small family dinners and large friend & school mate celebrations and Luciana's handles them all with grace and ease! Date Night or Girls Night? Just make sure you grab a drink! Went for a girls night and had a time. Their drinks alone will bring me back. Lucianas is good, not not great. We prefer to order takeout from here instead of eating in, because the service is greatly lacking. They are nice and pleasant but are always forgetful and very slow. It really ruins the fun vibes that are going on there! If the service was better, we'd come way more often. We do, however, love the food and continue to order takeout time and time again. I came here with my family on a Saturday and they were fairly busy. We sat down outside and enjoyed their patio. I ordered chorizo tacos like I always do lol. My husband ordered shrimp tacos. I ordered cheese quesadilla and fries for my toddlers. The food came quickly and hot. The tacos were tasty, not the best in the city but decent. Came to Lucianas at the suggestion of my Aunt. I'm totally into Mexican food and was super excited. Lucianas has a really extensive menu, so tons of options for anyone. We didn't have to wait long to be seated, waiter arrived pretty quickly, and the warm chips and tasty salsa were great. Our waiter was pretty frustrated, maybe his day had been long, or previous interactions had been a lot to deal with, but he wasn't friendly with us at all. He was rude. Food came, I had chicken fajitas. It was more like I had vegetable fajitas because the green peppers and onion significantly outweighed the chicken in terms of volume. My peach margarita was meh. We stopped in to Lucianas while visiting Indy for spring break. My daughter's birthday falls during the same time and she wanted Mexican! We have a party of 7 and we arrived around 7:45 pm. They sat us immediately which was very nice after the long day we had. Menu prices are pretty standard compared to an El Nopal or something like that. Menu choices are very similar as well. The server Juan was great as he was very attentive and made sure our drinks stayed filled the whole time. We had chips and salsa as soon as we sat down and the food came out quickly after we ordered. The only reason for the 5th star missing was due to some of the food being pretty greasy to where the tacos fell apart pretty quickly. Two of us had the same issue. I think it was the ground beef. The chicken and shredded beef didn't give us that problem. Covid compliance was great as they had the tables separated well and sanitizer was available throughout. My never-ending quest to find good Mexican food in Indiana drove me to Luciana's in Broad Ripple. I really wanted taquitos, and I was hoping against hope that Luciana's had some. And they did! But because this is the Midwest, they call them flautas. (I am going to be THAT guy and say that TECHNICALLY, a flauta is a rolled taco made with a flour tortilla. These are rolled tacos made with corn tortillas, which means that they are taquitos. So if you're looking for taquitos, just ask for the flautas. But if you're looking for flautas, then you're SOL.) The taquito plate comes with guacamole and sour cream on a bed of shredded iceberg lettuce. I wanted rice and beans also, but I had to order them separately. All of this was more than enough food for one person. Their portions are large. They also have bottomless chips and salsa, and the salsa is good but mild. The chips were brought to us warm. Yum! My children want BRC burritos (beans, rice, cheese) when we are at Mexican restaurants, so that's what I try to order them. Lord knows I try! I tried here, as well, but what I got was a BRC burrito with that white mucus-resembling cheese that Midwest Mexican restaurants put on everything. These were my literal words to the server: "Can I get a burrito with just beans, rice and cheese in it? No sauce on top, nothing on it. No meat inside. Just beans, rice and cheese in a tortilla." I got beans, rice and cheese in a tortilla, but they apparently couldn't help themselves and they put cheese sauce on the burrito. (Because it's a burrito! It needs something on it! Anything! We shan't send it out naked!) Luckily, with some creative scraping and cutting, my children were none the wiser about this unwanted cheese sauce and they ate it all and loved it. The service here is top-notch, or at least our server was. He was on top of everything, flying from table to table and refilling our water glasses constantly. But he wasn't all up in our business like some servers are, so that was appreciated. read more

So, I've been here a few times while visiting a friend in Indy, but after this experience, I'm going to help her find a new favorite restaurant. I have never been overly impressed with them, but this time? Just yuck. I am old. I eat out a lot. I have never sent a plate back because the food was not tasty - I can usually make my way through pretty much anything I order. I simply could not eat this. I ordered the burrito deluxe dish with one chicken and one ground beef burrito covered in red sauce with lettuce, tomato and sour cream on top. The "red sauce" was so watery. It was as if they had just poured a can of diced tomatoes without draining it over the burritos. The whole plate was a horribly watery soggy mess. Then there's the ground beef. The only time in my life I have ever seen beef ground that finely was in canned pet food. Not a single hint of actual beef and zero flavor. It was like eating bland pate. I couldn't do it. I'm not convinced there was actual beef in there. I asked our server to please take my plate, and we were ignored for the next 25 minutes. No one came to see if there was something else I wanted or even to apologize for the inedible food. Of course, we were charged full price, after all, I had taken 4 bites the horrendous food. Good food for a good price! I have gone to Lucianas several times in the last couple months and each time the service is quick, kind and efficient. I appreciate the family business aspect of this restaurant. They make you want to support their local business. The ambiance is so friendly and each person I have met has been really hard working. I have gotten the fried chicken chimichangas with no red sauce. Their queso is so good and is a big reason why I like it without red sauce. I have gotten it with rice and beans depending which time I have gone. I know others I have been with have enjoyed what they have gotten as well. Again fine, but not great. The beer on tap is classic Mexican beer which I love!! I love Pacifico and they have pitchers that are 10$ so it is a great deal for my husband and I to split. The service is really slow and not super friendly. We always sit at the bar and make sure we order right away. Be prepared for a short wait. The last time we went with family it was busy, and it was really hard to get any service. I had to ask another waitress if she could find our waitress as it had been almost 20 minutes since we had seen her. After years of being a loyal and dedicated supporter customer and Lucianna Lover of all of their locations,, I sadly have had to stop going and last week was my very last visit. I order the same thing everytime and this is the ONLY Mexican restaurant I go to since returning to Indiana after living in California for 20 years. So I kno what good Mexican food tastes like. And I have never been dissatisfied or disappointed until the week before last when I called and put in my to go order after work when that last snow fall we had took over my drive home. I ordered the arroz con pollo with extra queso on top, a side of avocado and a side of sour cream. When all those things are put together it's one of my all time fave meals and a way to treat myself. I was surprised when the total came to $23 and some change...For one persons dinner. But I paid it without complaint and went home to eat my fave luciannas creation. Only to get home get settled and sit down to open the bag and contents of my order And I was sooooo disappointed. The sour cream container was barely half full. For $2.00 of sour cream. So maybe a tablespoon. Maybe. And the avocado was brown and mushy and literally fell apart in my hands and not even into chunks. Just pure brown nasty mush. For $2.00. So I called and talked to Marisol who had me text her a picture of the avocado I've attached below. She said Oopsie. The kitchen messed up and also sent you the wrong order of sour cream. I told her that they messed up my entire meal. And there's a snow storm so I'm not coming back (a fifteen minute drive when the weather is nice) Marisol said she would have a cash refund for the sour cream and avocado at the register for me and that she would talk to her manager about getting my dinner refunded since they messed up. I picked up my $4.00 and then All week I waited for a call back. I did not get one. So I called Thursday on my way home from work which was one week later. And I got the run around. Marisol wasn't there. And the lady whom I spoke with back and forth for a half hour on my drive home finally had me call David the manager. He said he would not refund my meal or replace my order even tho they messed up. He finally relented and offered me $10 half the cost of my meal when I told him that this is not how you treat your loyal customers, because as the saying goes us loyal customers, we are the ones who keep the lights on in your establishment. You don't dismiss valid concerns from your local neighborhood customers who have been repeatedly only ordering from your restaurant for five years. Thru covid and continuing after. So they lost me as a customer and I will never EVER recommend them again or take my friends there for dinner which I have done countless times as well. This is not how you treat loyal customers. Period. I went and picked up my $10 and Marisol was so cold and harsh and just checked out completely. They don't care anymore at Luciannas so don't give them your money cuz if this is how management and front of house is being you can only imagine how back of house is going down the drain as well. Luckily for me and the rest of us in the Meridian Kessler neighborhood and Broadripple that we have ALL KINDS OF OTHER MEXICAN RESTAURANTS in our 2 mile radius so that Luciannas will hopefully feel the hit and go out of business, because that is what a restaurant deserves for being so uncaring and unprofessional. If I could give them 3.5 stars I would. I come here often with a particular friend group, so I may review again soon in anticipation of a 4 star visit--just to split the difference--Ha! In fact, among Mexican restaurants in the area, I come here most due to their having three locations near me: Broad Ripple, Clearwater and Trader's Point. Due to some dietary restrictions (no cilantro, onions, beans or wheat--uggh!), my go-to is the flautas plate. It includes two each of these shredded beef and shredded chicken little yummies wrapped in corn tortilla and deep fried. It's a mystery as to which is which--kind of fun. With a generous portion of lettuce, pico and guacamole on the side and a sprinkling of fresh cotija cheese on top, it's a lot of food for me. I almost always take at least one sometime two flautas home. Complimentary chips and salsa may a have a little something to do with that. Service is good even when they're busy if you get your order placed when they first come to take it. The food is out in record time. Our table of 5 was served in back-to-back trips from the kitchen within 11 minutes of ordering. Lightning fast. I down-grade the joint a little bit for the divey feel of the Broad Ripple location. It's not anything I can put my finger on; it's clean enough. It just feels a little grimey in general. Hot grease in the air, and good food in my belly is a fine trade-off. read more
