Why haven't I been here sooner?!? Smash'd Burger has been on my list to try for a while now and I finally got a chance to try it out. Popped over to Irvington for lunch. We ordered the Farmhouse burger and the OG Smash burger. I asked for waffle fries but she said they didn't have them anymore! (Insert crying face emoji). So we settled for the thick cut seasoned fries instead. Parking was a little tricky as it usually is if you come to Irvington. Always a great burger! Very consistent and the fries are just as good as the sandwiches. My only downfall, which is based on the employee, not the incident, is that I ordered a burger last time and walked outside to be sprayed with road water from the construction. My burger was ruined, so I immediately turned around and had to reorder my food. I loved the location of this restaurant, easy parking when we arrived at around 6 but the inside of the restaurant wasn't as pretty. Very much a typical burger spot restaurant with history, which I loved. I was warmly greeted and the cashier was patient to explain the menu for us. I order the Big IRV, double patty, no pickles add mayo and sweet potato fries. Unfortunately, the burger truly didn't taste like anything. I was expecting seasoning maybe and all I tasted was onions and cheese which i didn't hate per se but I was surprised. I've had Smash'd on my list to try for awhile but just haven't made it in yet. But I saw the trailer at the Riley Festival and knew I had to try it since it pretty much came to me. It looked like they had a good variety of burger options from their regular menu on the trailer menu. I went with the original and it was pretty good! I'm not generally a burger person. I ONLY liked them smashed and with lots of toppings. And this burger was that. The burger patty was crispy, the bun was soft, and the toppings were crisp. We got our burgers in about 30 seconds so they had to be pre-prepared. The burger was just warm, not hot, but I'm sure that's just the nature of ordering your burger from a trailer during a busy festival instead of the restaurant. We got takeout from here for a birthday dinner. I had trouble with the lack of allergen menu. I had to hunt to find that yes, they have gluten free buns available. They do have "gluten-friendly" fries as well. They carry a lot of sauces, and I think they're probably what "make" the burgers, but I couldn't find any info on what was in them so couldn't safely order online. I ended up asking for mayo on the side, but it wasn't included in our order. The gluten free bun was burnt, and without a sauce or cheese (which I can't have as I'm medically dairy-free) it was a bit dry. The burger patty itself was good, and the lettuce, pickles, and tomato were too. Fries were okay, but nothing special. So I'd try this again, maybe when I can ask about the sauces or when they get an allergen menu together, but it won't be my first choice for a burger for now. I would guess that it matters which way you come into the area, but the place itself is neat. Plenty of seating and they had music outside. They have good customer service-- I was getting water and someone offered me a lid for the cup. Water was free. Pricing here is average --a burger cost around nine dollars and more, fries are about four dollars and more. It gets busy on a Thursday afternoon around 7 PM. The theater beside them has open mic night on Thursdays from 7 to 10 that's outside so you can enjoy that while you're eating your meal outside. You can get free refills on soda - they have Pepsi products. The water cup looks different. They have restrooms inside. After you order, you take a number and they bring the food to you. Many people choose to eat outside, especially if they have animals. I got the farmhouse burger that came with bacon and an egg with sweet potato fries and sweet sauce sweet. My husband got the dangerous burger with the cut fries. They place next door plays music so it was a whole vibe. The food was delivered hot, I love that! It didn't take too long either, another plus. I got the cheesy bacon with American and Swiss cheese and Boars head bacon, sauce and tomatoes. We also got the big IRV and an Original. Fresh cut fries were so crispy but soft in the inside. Sweet potato fries were very crispy and so tasty. Prices are a little elevated but the food was so good it was worth it. The restaurant had three rooms where you can sit.
