Pretty good Mexican spot in whitestown. I thought it was really expensive for what you get. And service was meh. I ordered a burrito with Queso on it because I was in the mood for something cheesy. The menu explicitly said "cheese sauce" which is why I ordered it, however when it arrived at the table it had shredded on it. I asked the waiter about it (since I ordered this burrito specifically for the cheese sauce) and he said nope it's shredded and offered to give me a side of Queso for $1.99. Kind of ridiculous. Suggest they update their menus to be a bit more accurate!

Overall pretty good authentic style Mexican restaurant, been here twice now since moving moving to the area. The food always comes out pretty quick and the portions are what you'd expect. Chips and salsa are good! They do have vegetarian options and great tasting margaritas and daiquiris! The bean burritos, cheese enchiladas and bean tostadas are all great here! They also of course have great authentic style queso which u can add to ur plates as well! The interior has plenty of seating and a few diff rooms with booths and tables. There's also seating outside in the front on the patio. The price is about the same as most other places, maybe slightly higher because of the area.

I was in Indy for the day this week and was looking for a late dinner near I65 on my way back north. El Rodeo was the only good place off the Whitestown exit that was still open at 9:00 (Thursday evening). They were very friendly and got me seated right away. Service was good and fast. The seafood burrito was marked as a new menu item. It was really good a nice hearty portion!

Great food, friendly service and a reasonable price for the quality of the food. I got the Bowl and it was wonderful, along with the Corizoqueso. Highly recommend !!

    Shrimp tacos. $12.99

This is the Whitestown favorite Mexican restaurant and a part of the El Rodeo chain. They were very busy, almost full on Tuesday night. We came with our dinner club. The restaurant is only a couple years old nestled in a strip mall. There is an outdoor patio overlooking the parking lot meant for warmer weather. They were understaffed for the large crowd with only a couple servers. Complimentary chips and salsa were brought to the table and drink orders taken. The menu is vast and the nightly special was 50 cents off the Rodeo taco salad. I chose shrimp tacos for $12.99 which came with rice and beans. The food came out quickly despite the crowd. The flour tacos were filled with fresh shrimp and onions served with pico de gallo sauce and a hot sauce. I smothered the tacos with the pico. The tacos were good. The rice a bit dry and the beans ok. The meal was filling. We were able to sit comfortably and converse. All in all, enjoyable.

Although the fajitas were decent the customer service here is POOR! I'm in town on business chose to come here based upon the website and my love for certain Mexican dishes. Since I dine alone a lot I always like the bar area. After being seated no one came to greet me. There were only about 6 tables & booths with customers so they were not busy. After approximately 5 minutes I inquired about ordering. I was brought a menu by a gentleman without a welcome. Just after the server came to take my order. I already knew exactly what I wanted. I ordered and my food sis not take long at all. Mo one ever came back to check on me even once to see if k was enjoying it or needed anything! After eating I pushed my plate slightly away. Although I saw the gentleman looking my way as he passed (the one who brought the menu), he never came to the table! The server came and asked are you done as he picked up my plates!! My answer was yes. He brought the bill and stated you can pay at the counter on the way out. Wow, how about did you enjoy your meal? Would you like dessert, although I didn't desire any. I paid and left without voicing my opinion & thoughts. Why? Because I'm then deemed the angry Black Woman! I made a mental note to not order from another place who does not acknowledge me up front because my money spends elsewhere! I DO NOT recommend this restaurant

Great Mexican restaurant in Whitestown! The dining area and restrooms are very clean, the staff is friendly, and the service is prompt and accurate. Each time I have visited, the food is steaming hot and so delicious! I usually stick with a variation of a quesadilla for dinner which hasn't failed me yet! Traditionally, they serve chips and salsa once you're seated and just a friendly note; the salsa is on the spicier side (which is how I prefer it). I recommend the Quesadilla Rodeo (+ mushrooms if you're a fan) -- it is served with a guacamole salad and rice. It's a large portion so very easy to share or to keep to yourself if you're visiting with a big appetite! El Rodeo also decorates for the different holidays which adds a lot of fun to the atmosphere!

We were greeted and seated immediately in a booth. Chips, Salsa, Diet Coke and Dos Equis arrived within minutes. The restaurant is very festive now with white lights hanging in the dining areas, a Christmas tree in the lobby and a large nativity scene in the dining area. The restaurant has a nice decor and is exceptionally clean including the restrooms. There is a nice bar with 3 or 4 high-top tables in the rather small bar area. The regular menu has all the standard menu options you'd expect. Soup, Chili Colorado, Carnitas, Carne Asada El Rodeo, Quesadillas, Burritos, Fajitas, Enchiladas, Shrimp, and Combination Meals. The prices are affordable and they have a child's menu. The lunch menu is served Monday - Saturday 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. serving 14 different lunch specials with a variety of other options. Husband ordered the Hot and Spicy Burrito ($7.29). It's a large, flour tortilla filled with shredded chicken, ground beef, beans, and rice, then covered with beef tips, salsa, ranchero sauce, cheese and sour cream. Everything is rolled into a big tortilla. He enjoyed the variety of tender meats in and on the burrito and he found it flavorful without being spicy. I ordered the #3 ($6.79) which is a ground beef enchilada with beans and rice. I must have lost my mind for a few minutes because I wanted to upgrade to chicken for an additional 39 cents but spaced it. Chili Chipotle sauce came to my rescue on the enchilada. I didn't want to return it since it is my fault I don't care for ground beef. No fault of theirs. Our entrees arrived in less than 10 minutes. We barely had a few chips and lunch was on the table. Our server was good and checked on us a couple of times. He didn't rush our to-go order until my husband had finished his 32 oz. beer then he delivered to the table with the check.

Fried chimichanga, guacamole salad and beans w/cheese. Lunch-menu oh, & gratis chips w/salsa

For those who enjoy good Mexican food and decor, this restaurant has both. Their free chips n salsa pre-meal certainly was extra generous, with refills at request ( table next to me ). I dont tolerate spicy hot so requested sour cream , which 'tamed' the salsa for a yummy taste. The menu offers many items , with enticing photos. I decided on the lunch chimichanga and ate every bit. Reasonable prices and satisfying amount. My server was really helpful and pleasant and my lunch wait was nearly negligible! It was about 1:30, but there were quite a few customers still there.

The service was amazing , this was in the morning where the servers were more free. either way they were so kind and everything was perfect

Since we'll be living in Zionsville for a while, we've been searching for our new go-to restaurants. Today we tried Salty Cowboy for the first time, and overall, we were impressed. We ordered the chips and salsa, tacos, and margaritas, and everything was very enjoyable. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was lively and welcoming. This could have been a 5-star review , but the chips tasted a bit stale and the salsa was somewhat bland and could have used a little more spunk. Aside from that, we had a great experience and would definitely recommend checking out Salty Cowboy if you're looking for good Mexican food in the area.

Apparently chips and salsa are no longer free. I had the short rib taco which was full of meat and quite tasty. The pickled onions on it though weren't really very pickled. They were okay but not great. I also had the mahi mahi taco and it was great and I loved the pineapple salsa.I opted for grilled shrimp but you could get them fried if you want. The big disappointment was the pollo con arroz that my husband ordered. It was luke warm. The waitress said no problem and she could get him a new dish quickly. She came back with that she claimed was a whole new dish in less than 5 minutes! I am sorry you can't make a whole new dish in 5 minutes. The rice was steaming hot. The chicken looked like chunks of boiled white chicken that had a cold crema under them so chicken was not hot. Not a lot of flavor. Very disappointing. Service was excellent.
