Delicious food a little chilly in the winter. The decor is amazing! I brought my husband and kid here for nostalgic reasons because I used to come to this place as a kid myself and it was pretty much what I remembered. We ordered beans and rice for our kid. The interior is so much bigger than it appears and there is plenty of seating available as well as a few tables outside. Safety measures have been in place including: masks, gloves, and sanitizer. I ordered the steak enchiladas and the meat was burnt a little (I like a char on my steak but it was kind of tough at that point) and the tortillas were fine, not quite as soft as I might have preferred. My husband ordered the taco salad with chicken. He said it was good and ate the whole thing. Now the salsa, that was very good. Tasted just like homemade at my family's get-togethers. Everything was just a tad under seasoned for us. The food is basic Tex-Mex, which is nothing to sneeze at, still very tasty. This place makes up for it though in atmosphere. So i want it understood that this review is under a lot of scrutiny as i use to live out in San Diego, CA which has some of the best mexican food in the US. So first of all i use to come here all the time with my family and then the place started going down hill. They started getting greedy with the prices and portions and the service was not good. BUT I WAS SO SURPRISED when i walked in here on a Wednesday night to try the place and actually LOVED it! It was refreshingly good with well seasoned meat and vegis. Their salsa also tasted much better than the last time i had been here. The service was prompt and very friendly. Bringing anything i asked for. There's nothing about the restaurant I find unique, and it's similar to other restaurants serving the same cuisine. El Jaripeo is a huge place, so tables are readily available, even when it's crowded. That's good for a man like me who hates to wait! El Jaripeo serves all your Mexican favorites, and their menu is large. I've enjoyed everything I've had. I'm always partial to fajitas, and I have enjoyed the chicken fajitas the most. I've also tried their shrimp fajitas; they were tasty. Portion sizes are moderate, and I have never had leftovers. During the COVID-19 crisis, I found El Jaripeo's takeout service to be convenient. The service was speedy, which minimized the time I had to be in the restaurant. El Jaripeo may not overly excite anyone, but it will never disappoint! read more
