Tried out this higher end Mexican food restaurant just blocks from the circle downtown. For a lunch date with friends. Overall a chill environment and ith a nice front patio/ sidewalk seating area. We enjoyed the chips n salsa varieties, surprisingly the darker salsa wasn't spicier just a different flavor. Orde re d the chicken burrito which was gigantic easily enough for 2 to share. I frequent the Los Arroyos in Carmel but decided to try to downtown location for Cinco de Mayo. I went with a rather large group and we were seated about 10ish minutes after arrival even though our reservation was at 8:30pm and the reservation stated indoor seating. We were seated in their outdoor area where the heaters were not turned on and the day had been rainy and cold so most of the table was cold throughout our meal. The service was a bit slow but it being cinco de mayo, we understood that things may move a little slower than any other day. They had some specials for the day but I got my old faithful, Maria's Enchiladas with steak. It comes with rice and beans and it's just so so soooo good!!! I also got the Arroyo Margarita which was good but def could tell they were adding a bit more sour mix to the drink. I've been to this Los Arroyos location dozens of times over the past few years. I go once or twice a month for their awesome taco Tuesday deal - it can be cheaper than Taco Bell if you don't get alcoholic drinks and apps. Their tacos are honestly some of the tastiest tacos around town. I wouldn't label them as totally authentic, but they are delicious nonetheless. Their other menu items are great as well (I don't just go on Tuesdays). Their arroz con pollo is a delicious and a great value, their black beans as a side are really good, I love the green salsa that comes with the chips, and their enchiladas and burritos are very good and an easy pick if you can't decide on what you want. The servers know us and are always very welcoming and friendly. Service is almost always quick. The atmosphere is also nice because it's relatively modern without overdoing the Mexican decor as some Mexican restaurants tend to do, and it can get lively and bustling during peak dinner times, but also other random times depending on conventions or Fever/Pacers games. read more

There's a halibut taco that is incredible and, at least in October, a veggie taco option that was squash blossom (flor de calabaza)... oh my god. I'm still dreaming about it. AMAZING. Really like the food here. Friendly staff. Their pozole is my go-to when I have a cold or feeling a little under the weather--can't say how many times that's been a family take-out order. Also their chips and salsa is possibly my favorite in the city--the darker one, especially. On an average weeknight, it's usually easy to get in here, so I love that also. For non-downtowners, they do have 2 hour parking in garage space behind them, which is helpful. Stopped in a bit early on a Monday evening. It's $8 margarita day!! We started with the mango disfruta and spicy skinny margs. Both were really tasty! The spicy skinny actually has a bit of a kick, which we loved! They normally give it a tajin rim, garnish with a jalapeño slice and call it a day. This had the flavor! The complimentary chips and salsa were really tasty too. Chips tasted fresh, the brownish salsa was my favorite--very flavorful! They also make their own hot sauces in house which were great! I got the al pastor taco plate. The meat was slightly chewy, but the taste was good. The tortilla fell apart midway but was good anyway. The rice and beans were very tasty as well. My brother got the combo steak soft taco and the verde chicken enchilada. He said the steak seemed a bit overcooked (they initially forgot the taco so brought it later) and he loved the chicken enchilada. Service left a little something to be desired. Enjoyed a delicious dinner tonight. My favorite Mexican dish is a crunchy hard taco. The taco I got was delicious, it had some tasty shredded beef on it, onions, cilantro and lettuce and was perfect. The food here was honestly great--no complaints on that front at all. However, the service was where things got a bit frustrating. Our waiter tried to memorize the entire order instead of writing it down, and unfortunately, it didn't pan out. He forgot parts of the order, brought out the wrong items, and then had to come back and triple-check what we actually wanted. I know some servers take pride in the "no notepad" skill, but as a customer, I'd feel a lot more confident if they just wrote it down to ensure accuracy. Between the order mishaps and a very long wait to get the check at the end, it turned into a much longer visit than it needed to be. When I say, this is a really good spot for Mexican food in Indiana I highly recommend. The food is exceptional. It was really good quality and very authentic to start off with the starters. I ordered the chunky guacamole without onions and cilantro and tomatoes and omgeee let me tell you it was so flavorful and so good, I would say this is a must to order for your starter. It was really good and make sure you order the chunky guacamole because they have different kinds. It's also shareable. For my entrée, I shared the chicken and steak fajitas with my mom and I only ate chicken because I was full of the yummy guacamole.. the fajitas is very tender, moist, marinated, and sizzled, which is important when it comes to the fajitas lol. For my drink I tried the Grand margarita which is $35 but what is so unique about this place is that they have margaritas and cocktails that are $100 and the highest one called millionaire margarita that is $350 which is very expensive, but I also think that's elite because it's rare when you see those type of drinks at that price at a Mexican restaurant. I would recommend if you try that make sure your on baller status ha ha. You also have dessert options, my sister tried the churros and she said it was very good. The server was phenomenal. We had the chance to have Jesus as our server, and he was very down to earth of attentive just overall a very good person. And checked on us the whole entire time and made it feel like we were at home. We stayed there for many hours and we just kept talking because of the ambiance is very nice and cool vibe place with a nice bar. It is also clean inside and outside exterior as well. It is located in the right area which I believe is considered downtown Indianapolis. It's plenty of street parking, they do have a parking lot structure but please make sure you listen to the guidelines and the hours limits because it is possible you will get a ticket. It's so nice and convenient to have a great Mexican spot nearby. $8 margs on Monday, $3 tacos on Tuesday, and $12 ceviche specials on Wednesday. What's there not to like? And on days where I miss the happy hour special, you can see me ordering the molcajete. The grilled mix of meat, salsa, cheese, cactus, and veg is awesome. And what's even better is the fact that you'll have at least 2 days of leftovers. The staff is incredibly nice and attentive and are so sweet even when guests are sitting past closing time. If you like to share your meal, the arroyo molcajete (pictured). It was a LOT of food and it was delissshhh. You get 4 tortillas with it to make your own tacos too. We got the steak and I cannot recommend enough. The large guac is also probably enough for 4 people. It was a perfect combination of chunky and smooth. You also get free chips and 2 salsas! The arroyo margarita was nothing to write home about. We went on a very busy night and the service was good. Their patio area was the perfect spot on a nice spring day and they have heaters if it gets a little chilly. The food at Los Arroyos was decent, but we had perhaps the worst service I have ever experienced. We came on a Saturday night, and although the restaurant was only at ~1/3 capacity and we only ordered entrees, our dining experience took almost three hours. It took so long, in fact, that we had to wait until after the restaurant's closing time to receive our checks despite arriving at 7:30 PM. We parked in dedicated retail parking for the building and received parking tickets for overstaying (the parking allowance was for 2 hours, which should be more than reasonable for a single-course meal). read more

Conveniently located in downtown Indy, Los Arroyos is home to delicious food and great service! The interior was open and well designed. Our server was friendly and made our first visit over the top. The menu is big and had a wide variety of entradas, ensaladas, tacos, burritos and more. I recommend the Homemade Guacamole (mashed avocado with tomatoes, lime juice, and onions, served with a basket of freshly cut and fried chips) and the Enchilada Roja (cheese, shredded chicken, and shredded beef enchilada). A lot of people recommended this restaurant for its authentic Mexican food. Perhaps the Carmel IN location was short staffed the night after Christmas, but I was not impressed, other than with the fantastic variety of margaritas. I ordered Maria's Enchiladas and there was a garnish on it that I don't know would have been actually included in Mexico. The enchiladas were a little dry, in my opinion, and would have been better sauced or with queso. There were no spoons included with the salsas I had to pour salsa onto my enchiladas from the serving dish. Service was slow and our party's (6) entrees were served in a staggered fashion. E.g., my wife's entree soup was served but the sides and toppings were not served until at least 5 minutes later. My side of rice and beans was not served until well after I received my enchiladas as well. On the plus side I loved the Cadillac Margarita. read more
