So glad I found this place. What a fun vibe and delicious food! Our server was nice and somehow remembered everything in her head, which was very impressive. I don't think you can really go wrong with the tacos, and the flights are a great deal that let you try things in a smaller portion (4 inch in the flight instead of 6 inch for a single taco) for a lower price point. I think my favorite was the Jackpot (jackfruit carnitas with BBQ sauce). Appreciated that they had veggie options! If you're gluten free, one thing to be aware of are the taco shells - for the epic tacos, the standard is a crispy corn shell inside of a soft flour shell. I got the Crabby Patty which had a "guacamole cushion," which I learned meant there was guac between the two shells. If no cushion is mentioned, it's just the two shells. IF you or a friend ask for gluten free, it's TWO layers of crispy corn shells. Lot of crisp. Corn fritters were also tasty. Everyone I came with was happy with their meals. :)

Great dinner here on a Monday night, especially given that it was day 1 of their new menu! We hit happy hour for margaritas and the passion fruit margarita with a tajin rim really hit the spot. For my meal I ordered 3 tacos- the standout was absolutely the new brussel sprout taco. I have been thinking about that taco for a full week. The other 2 tacos (carnitas and a beef) were both good, but the sprout taco was so fresh and flavorful. I would definitely return!

We came here after seeing a broadway in Indianapolis show. It was nice to find a great restaurant that was open late on a Sunday. We ordered a great variety of tacos, the chips a three drippings (guacamole, salsa, queso) and margaritas (made them skinny - without sugar). The waitress was very fun too. The restaurant itself is close to Gainbridge fieldhouse and is decked out in a fun way with a bar area that has some cool arcade games, a dining area and a cool vibe all around. The only issue was the check. We could not get our check for a while and then it was hard get someone to take our payment. I felt trapped and really needed to leave. We were trying to pay for an hour. The table next to us seemed to be getting a lot of attention, but something was up and we got home super late.

We stopped by because I had vaguely been told about this restaurant and we were really craving Mexican food/street tacos after a very long drive back from an event. The restaurant is sleek and has a cool vibe, but we immediately realized it was not going to be what we thought of when we saw "street tacos" mentioned during Google search. It's more of a metropolitan American Soul fusion place, with a heavy emphasis on loaded, uniquely flavored tacos instead of traditional Mexicana. The server was wonderful in explaining their menu and gave multiple recommendations, which I went with all of her great suggestions once I told her what I was craving. My husband didn't enjoy his appetizer, saying it tasted too sweet instead of savory for him, but the server was great at being aware of our plates and took the appetizer off our bill when she noticed he wasn't eating it without us even mentioning it. I got three different tacos, and the only one I didn't enjoy was due to the Mac n cheese that was stuffed in it. It just didn't taste or feel right having a taco with macaroni that was pushed in so densely that it became a sponge. The other two were great! My husband gave his burrito a 3/5, as he felt it was too much one note. Overall, don't come here if you're looking for upscale Mexicana, but instead want to enjoy interesting fusion flavors and fun cocktails. Great place for a group outing or celebration!

We came back for the first time since the previous review. We came before a Fever game in the middle of the week. The restaurant didn't seem necessarily full, but the service this time was very unsatisfactory. The waitress we had, was very kind and apologetic for the slow service, she comped our chips & salsa and gave us a free queso (after she forgot we ordered it alongside the chips). The queso was delicious, the salsa was spicier than i remember and the chips were entirely different and many of them were still undercooked and soft. My bang bang taco was in special, and it was as delicious as I remember! The alderman however, had a good taste but I truly hated that the corn was ICE cold. It threw everything off for me, but my husband was fine with it. Overall, everything was fine. The free appetizer and delicious taco made up for the extremely poor service and uncomfortable seating (the space of the booth was uncomfortable. There was so much extra space!) Anyway, not quick to return, but I'd give it another go. Third time's a charm right?

A fun spot a bit out of the hub so it was quieter and with plenty of seating. We were greeted warmly and got a booth quickly. We were there in time for the happy hour which offers drinks and food! We had some delicious queso and chips which were plentiful and crispy. We also ordered the crispy cauliflower bites which were amazing! I would eat those all day long as they weren't heavy and the sauce was light and tangy. Perfect! My epic taco was fun and delicious but way too much for me. The flight size was better as it was more typical street taco. Next time I would either do the flight and share or not get appetizers...just too much food and so good you didn't want to miss a bite! Overall a delicious menu and yummy food. We would go back and fun to try their taco Tuesday or other specials.

Been here twice now and definitely would return. The tacos are very innovative and are LOADED. The nacho tray is a must order. Honestly one of those places you can probably order anything and it be solid. I love 'The Bomb' taco - must order. Very nice bourbon & tequila list as well and the drinks here are great!

I sat at the bar and had a quick and delicious experience. Awesome and unique tacos! A few people told me not to go there because their "service", but I had no issue at all. The food is choice. This would be my second Agave and Rye (first was Columbus, OH). Service was quite fast, and the bartender was awesome. Definitely get some great food here and would recommend it.

While in the area decided to visit here for the first time. We were warmly greeted and seated right away. Our server, Addison, was incredibly friendly and quick to explain the menu. The decor was unique and fun to examine. I ordered a strawberry lemonade, chips and queso for the table. For my entree, 3 mix and match tacos. I really enjoyed the gangsta taco.

My family is never going to let me choose the restaurant (or the movie, but that's an entirely different story) again! Devour Summerfest 2025 is in full swing and I, my daughter, my cousin and my aunt always get together to celebrate our love of food. We often times end up at the same restaurant, but we've been trying to venture out, and this go-round I chose Agave and Rye. 3 out of 4 of us love Mexican food and cocktails, so why not?! Upon our arrival, 2 of our 3 vehicles lucked up by getting primo parking spaces right in front of the entrance, but I could see parking being a potential problem. Our 3rd parked somewhere near The Y. My cousin was waiting for us and had been sat in the God-awful booth that had a television inside of it, taking up the entire wall. You could literally hit your head on it during your meal. I immediately, went to the host stand to request alternative seating. I was met with some resistance, and informed that half of the entire dining room had been reserved for a private event (hosted by Eli Lilly). Eventually, we were moved to the bar. The decor is top-tier. It is very elegant meets street. Throughout the night, I noticed that the bartender (who was also our server) was "doing his big one" mixing and making all of those drinks! He was the only one behind the bar, and at times drinks were lined up and waiting for servers to come and retrieve them. He had good energy and checked on us often. My cousin ordered their Ghost Pepper Salsa and we were given fair warning regarding the level of heat. It was not an exaggeration...that mess was HOT! I only had a chip or two. The Devour Menu didn't have pricing on it, so I inquired and was told that it was $27 for the three courses. It was also Margarita Monday and their house margs were 1/2 off. I was told by the guests that got the frozen margs that they were really strong. I got mine on the rocks and it was quite the opposite. I tasted zero alcohol. Now for the food. Three of us got the Buffalo Chicken Dip for our first course. 5/10 - not at all what we were expecting. It was queso with a few pieces of the honey-chipotle grilled chicken floating in it. Nothing "buffalo" about it. Also, the house-made tortilla chips were much too thick in my opinion. Two of us had the Taco Flight for the entree. 0/10 - One person sent theirs back and opted for the burger instead. One person just let their tray wither and die on the table. The feedback was that the toppings were too cold, or the food had just gotten cold in the window waiting to be picked up. Also, the meat was tough. My cousin wrestled with a piece of steak and lost! I ordered the Cheese-Filled Enchiladas topped with Birria. 2/10 - The cheese filling was cold and hard and the birria was dry. It had good flavor, but it lacked moisture. I took it home, hoping that once reheated, I might be able to add some sauce to the birria...but alas, it sat in the fridge until I tossed it last night. Today is our trash pick-up. The highlight of the meal for me was the Strawberry Cheesecake Dip with Churro Chips. It was a nice, sweet treat, but they use the same thick tortilla chips, so I only had a few. I was later informed that my other cousin didn't come because he said "that place is booty!" I wished I'd been informed sooner! LOL I could see maybe returning for drinks (the frozen ones) and the vibes.

***not sure what's going on Yelp*** I have typed out a review 3 times but it's gone. Great service every time, always friendly and quick no matter the crowd. Awesome drink deals all week and a happy hour. Free arcade games too. Beautiful doesn't describe it, it's stunning place, your eyes never rest.

Amazing date night or girls night spot! The tacos here are out of this world. They have street tacos too if you don't like the OTT ones. And the margs are so fun and tasty!

We were so excited to see this spot-we've eaten at an Agave and Rye in Chatty and it was fantastic! We were immediately greeted by super friendly hosts and shown to our seats. However our server did not continue that same attitude. We definitely felt like she had other places to be. We ordered an app and our food, which all came out quickly. Hubby ordered a beer which finally arrived as we were finishing up our meal. The food was good-but not as incredible as we had experienced before. Hosts were super friendly on our way out. The decor is amazing!

I like a dim atmosphere, but it was hardly lit enough to read the menu. It was difficult to navigate as it was mostly in Spanish. Extremely limited vegetarian options which I'm not sure I can assume were actually without chicken base in the rice, etc. I didn't even see a vegetable fajita on the menu. My vegetarian burrito sans crema and cheese consisted of little more than rice and a couple small diced pieces of avocado and diced tomato. Iceberg lettuce? I saw corn niblets and a pea fall out. Bland. Hot sauce choices not fantastic. What kind of burrito contains no beans?? Everyone else at my table received flatware. I was given a plastic fork. Once I received an actual fork & knife, they kept tearing the paper underneath my burrito. Strangely served with raw cucumber (ick) & lime wedges on the side. Edible at best. The atmosphere looked interesting upon entry, but it felt grungy, the chairs were heavy. I was seated right next to a brick wall/chimney. Service was sparse. Definite language barrier. The dish my companions received was an array of meat in a molcajete. Mixed feedback on the peppers being ungodly too hot & some of it, especially the sausage, having a good flavor. It was massive & messy. It was interesting initially but definitely didn't look appetizing to me. That came with a bowl of beans in sauce with what we later discovered were Chicharrón on top. It looked like boiled mystery chicken skin. A friend from SoCal I consulted online had no idea what it was from my photo as we tried to discern it & they didn't realize it was even Mexican food from the appearance. It was assumed I was at an Asian joint. We had to ask for drink refills far into our meal. I was given a fresh new cup. The server took another person's cup from the table and refilled it in the back. That was strange and seemed unsanitary. We didn't get everything we asked for. I'd say language was the problem except for the fact the server had understood my requests when "crema" was the only Spanish word I used. Ladies' room had room for one person at a time. The sink was backing up. It felt dingy like the rest of the building. I'm glad they had paper towels and not just a hand blower. I didn't choose the restaurant. It was one of the worst if not THE most horrible Mexican meals & experiences I've had in my life. Hard pass. I'd gladly pay more for better fare elsewhere. I can make far superior at home.

The tacos (your choice of protein) were $1.49 each. I was honestly surprised that they had plenty of onions, cilantro, two different sauces & a baggie of radishes & limes for that price. I will say, I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because the shredded chicken although clearly seasoned (color wise) with sazon, it was dried completely out with only a hint of flavor. I added the green sauce on the chicken ones and it gave it a little umph but then I tasted the amazing seasoning in the rice and beans & WOW. I put a little of both on the chicken tacos and that was just what they needed. All in all the tacos were an 8/10 and the rice+beans were 10/10. The rice was cooked perfectly & the best compliment to the soupy beans. Parking: TERRIBLY positioned & shared lot, spots are tight & all the businesses stay with a crowd. Service: the cashier wasn't unpleasant BUT I had every intention on sitting down and eating inside (they have about 8 tables and 4 small booths) but she assumed I wanted it to-go without asking me as she asked the family of Spanish/hispanic/latino/a heritage before AND after me. Didn't I get the level of enjoyment for them, she was able to put down one ground beef and one carnita. I ate the last. Not a big soft taco fan, but interior ingredients were flavorful. I was not a fan of the salsas that I tried. They did send over chips, that were in my opinion. They were crispy. Had no flavor of either salt nor lime on them. Definitely needed salsa, but as I mentioned earlier, the salsas were not very good. Good. I had a roasted red salsa, salsa Verde, plus chili de arbol. None of them, had anything going for them. That was positive. It tasted like it was just the ingredients without seasoning. The salsa Verde tasted like just green tomatoes, and the same for the red. The spicy one, tasted like Tomatoes and spicy peppers. The menu appeared to have a nice variety of different items. I would definitely give them a second chance on something else.

The restaurant itself is small, but don't let that fool you. The menu may be concise, but everything tastes like it's made with care rather than trying to offer 100 different options. The tacos are fantastic, and the fresh house-made tortillas make all the difference. If it's your first visit, do yourself a favor and stop by the salsa station. There are several options ranging from mild to a nice kick of heat, and they're all worth trying. One of my favorite things is that you can order directly from the taco shop or from the pickup window connected to Turner's next door. Grab your tacos, walk over to the bar, order a drink, and enjoy one of the coolest lunch or dinner spots downtown. It's such a fun setup that makes the whole experience even better. The staff has always been friendly, service is quick, prices are very reasonable, and every visit reminds me why I keep coming back. If you're exploring downtown Indianapolis and craving authentic tacos, Julieta deserves a spot on your list.

It's a small space in the restaurant with a couple of stools, so seating is mostly outside. They call your number when your order is ready. And don't forget to stop at the salsa station before you find a seat. The fried mushroom taco was the stand out on my plate! I wish I had ordered 3 of them - they had great texture and flavor. Great vegetarian option!!
