Stopped by here before a concert and watched it slowly get packed. Considering the size of the crowd of customers, service was reasonably prompt. I had three tacos, and each one was excellent, though there's really no need to bother with the sides. I did also have their mixed drink special and it was fine, but nothing special. Affordable option for pregaming before an event at Gainsbridge Fieldhouse. read more

My daughter was craving Mexican so this was the place that was within walking distance. She found something that she liked on the menu. She had the tacos Americano she got two ground beef and one carnitas. They came with pico de gallo, romaine, sour cream, shredded cheese. She enjoyed them. Didn't I get the level of enjoyment for them, she was able to put down one ground beef and one carnita. I ate the last. Not a big soft taco fan, but interior ingredients were flavorful. I was not a fan of the salsas that I tried. They did send over chips, that were in my opinion. They were crispy. Had no flavor of either salt nor lime on them. Definitely needed salsa, but as I mentioned earlier, the salsas were not very good. Good. I had a roasted red salsa, salsa Verde, plus chili de arbol. None of them, had anything going for them. That was positive. It tasted like it was just the ingredients without seasoning. The salsa Verde tasted like just green tomatoes, and the same for the red. The spicy one, tasted like Tomatoes and spicy peppers. The menu appeared to have a nice variety of different items. I would definitely give them a second chance on something else. read more

Visited late on a Saturday night. Place was pretty empty. We were seated right away. Our server was great- very attentive, friendly, and helpful. Food on the other hand was not great- not very flavorful. If you like Mexican or Latin food, I would recommend going elsewhere. Found the three monthly specials printed on menu a bit odd- our daughter expressed interest in last month's special, and was told it was no longer available. I feel like printing the specials separately could help avoid this. Drink offerings were ok, but drinks were overly sweetened. read more

I have zero complaints after visiting Social Cantina this past Sunday for Mother's Day. I must admit that it was not my first choice, but it was a solid one. I knew that I liked the food, and I have previously enjoyed the atmosphere at their Carmel location, so I felt that it was a safe choice. We were a group of 5 and requested booth seating, so we were right behind the host stand. I wasn't thrilled about that, at first, but several larger groups were seated in the same area near the entrance. The booth was spacious and comfortable, and the decor is very bright and vibrant. I ordered the Marg of the Month for May, which was the Bee Sting Margarita. It is made with jalapeno honey and lots of slices of fresh jalapeno. Between those aspects and the bite of the tequila...I quickly understood why it was given that name! If you like a spicy marg, I would definitely suggest! I also ordered the Chips & Salsa Flight for the table. I chose the Roasted Red and Chile de Arbol salsas, along with the guac and queso. I loved all of the dips...except the chile de arbol. It was just spicy...and nothing else. No flavor other than hot. LOL For our entrees, I ordered the Steak Fajitas. I probably could've fed the entire family with the portion that I received. It's Tuesday and I'm still working on it! The steak, peppers and onions were flavorful and tender and it came with all of the pertinent toppings (shredded cheese, lettuce, and pico de gallo). I also requested sour cream on the side. It was served with a side of beans and rice as well. My cousin ordered the Chicken Tinga Enchiladas and quipped that she would've liked "more tinga on her chicken". She didn't eat it all or take the leftovers home, so I'm not sure that I'd suggest that dish. One of my daughters ordered the Shrimp & Street Corn tacos without the corn, so they looked a little plain, but she liked them. She wasn't a fan of the $5.50 per taco price tag. My aunt ordered the Matador bowl and our server, Hailey, stated that it was her favorite. I had also been eyeing that on the menu. She enjoyed it and had plenty to take home with her as well. My other daughter ordered the Quesabirria tacos and supremely enjoyed her meal as well. The hosts and our server provided excellent service, and we had a really good time. read more

Stopped into Social Cantina with our executive assistant after our organization's national conference and it was exactly what we needed. The ambiance was really nice--more polished and plush than what I expected from a cantina, but still relaxed and welcoming. The taco menu was creative with plenty of options, and kudos to the chef because everything we tried was flavorful. Service was fast, food came out quickly, and the portions were perfect for a post-conference bite before dinner. Overall, just a great vibe from start to finish. I'd definitely make a return trip next time I'm in Indianapolis. read more

I attended a 4 day conference in Indianapolis and ate here twice because the food, servers, drinks, location were great enough to come back. I had tacos on corn tortilla which were awesome and price was reasonable. Restaurant was clean and decor lent to the good food and great servers. Michelle was exceptionally attentive. She is a keeper. read more

Thought we would try something new but unfortunately the Social Cantina was not able to meet expectations. The service was extremely lagging, the food was sub-par but the ambiance was nice. I wish I could say it was busy or provide another explanation but there was plenty of staff for the customer load. It's too bad, we love visiting locally owned establishments. read more

4.4.26 so Yelp tells me my last revew was 6.28.24 when I was downtown for hte Olympic Swim Trial festivities, which is funny because today we were downtown for the final Four festitivities! The hubs and I split the social nachos, & added pork. Price has gone up sinece last time (now $19), but it was big enough for two, plus left overs. And very tasty. I also had a non alcholic blueberry basil margarita, also a #yum #ReviewsByRL read more

I visit this place every year for Gen Con. and let me tell you i look forward to this over the convention. i'm not joking when i say the pork belly tacos are not only life changing but mind breakingly orgasmic. i wish the chef, everyone who helps with the preparation, and the owner has an amazing life, and lives happily with friends and family. i genuinely got religious, taking a bite made me think of the improbability that these ingredients mixed, the improbability of the chefs existence in the grand scheme of ancestry and evolution. it made me tear up knowing that as uncertain the universe is, that right here, right now that doesn't matter, as heaven stands before me. i truly love this restaurant, and if you are indie i would recommend it to you under all circumstances. if i was on deaths door and i had to choose between life and this taco, i know with certainty that only one option would make me complete. and it is not the choice to survive, but to LIVE. read more

Food was delicious and we got in quick before the Jonas Brothers concert! I am not sure what happened to our chips and salsa but it took a while to get and then basically got our food right after getting the chips and salsa. We got the red roasted salsa and it was a good classic salsa. I then got the chicken tinga tacos and carnitas tacos. Both were delicious and pretty big tacos ! I did not prefer one over the other. Very filling. I was full by the end! read more

We have only been here two times but cannot stop talking about it. From the food to the service to the atmosphere, everything is worth mentioning. Before heading to a Fever game we popped in. We were quickly seated. Jacob was our server. He was tentatively, friendly, and had great recommendations. We started with the salsa flight which is HUGE in portion and was almost as big as the table. Next we ordered a couple of drinks. By the time we worked our way through some of the salsa flight we decided to split an entree rather than order two entrees because there was no way we could eat all of the food. We decided on the Korean Fried Chicken bowl which was INCREDIBLE. It was so flavorful and soo good that we talked about going back the next night to order it again. We struggled to finish all of our food so Jacob boxed everything up for us and even gave us some fresh chips to go. Highly recommend checking this place out if you have not already! read more

This was my first time trying social Cantina and I have to honestly say this was so good. I wasn't entirely sure what to get on the menu, but our waiter was very patient and he offered me a chance to build my own. So allow me to introduce what I like to call " The Aaryana" bowl. This ingredients are rice, lettuce mix peppers/onions and Pico de Gallo. Topped with sour cream and Adobo Crema. This will now be my go to when dish when dining. Food was ok. Service was kinda slow and they were just going through the motions. No personality.

Posted to wrong place. Sorry and I will try again and make sure to pick the right place.

Nice little restaurant with a decent assortment of options on their menu. My small group all enjoyed our food and drinks. Collectively we had different burritos, bowls, and tacos. As well as a mix of different drinks. I had the El Matador bowl made as a burrito with a side of rice and beans and queso. Everything was tasty and I also enjoyed my seasonal Moscow mule. read more

Place looks nice and menu looked tempting so we decided to try it. Big mistake. Place was about a 1/4 full so we thought it wouldnt take very long. We were seated promptly. Ten minutes later we placed our drink order, another 10 minutes past and we asked for at least some water. 25 minutes in and the margaritas showed up and it was the wrong drink. Waiter was super nice but holy cow is this place poorly run. Food took about 30 minutes to come and it was the wrong order also. If you go, dont come hungry or thirsty and once you get your order, plan on it being wrong. read more

Delightful! I went here once a few years ago. I remember it being okay. We went back today for lunch before a play at the IRT. It's a bigger place than it seems from the outside. We were there at 12:15 on a Sunday. It didn't seem terribly busy, so we were able to sit right down. It has a fun and vibrant decor. Our server Zoe was very sweet. 1 person had a steak burrito, another had the steak bowl, and one person had the shrimp bowl. I had the chicken tinga and carne asada tacos on corn tortillas with the side of rice and black beans. Everyone really enjoyed the food. The menu has many different options. I look forward to going back to try more. I forgot to get photos of our food, but snapped a few quick photos of the inside. read more

My brother and I stopped in for lunch, having had a recommendation from a coworker of mine, and we weren't disappointed! Our server was friendly and checked in multiple times to make sure everything was okay. We both ordered a variation of different tacos. Our favorite was definitely the Shrimp & Street Corn Taco! There are lots of options, but make sure to try this taco (it's so good!) Prices were a little higher than we wanted, but nevertheless, a great meal in a new city! read more

Came here for lunch with coworkers while in town for a conference. This place was packed, as the conference was huge, but we were still able to get quickly seated. Our server was decent and friendly. They have a nice menu with several salsas to choose from as well as plenty of tacos too. We started with their salsa sampler, which was a big hit! The tacos we got were pretty good as well. Then finished with churros and those were really nice. Overall, definitely a nice meal was had here! read more

We had a nice visit to Social Cantina. Service was quick and accommodating, and the outdoor seating made it perfect for enjoying the great Indianapolis weather. For entrées, we tried the carne asada burrito (packed with flavor) and the chicken tinga enchiladas, which were tasty and well seasoned. Both dishes came with bacon charro beans, cooked beautifully, though we wished the portions were a bit larger. As an appetizer, we went with the mango habanero chips and salsa. The salsa definitely packs some heat and has more of a puréed texture, so next time we'd probably try a different one. read more

I saw this venue on Monday, 10 November, and decided to stop by for lunch on Tuesday, 11 November. They could use a little more assistance at the main door as it took nearly 10 minutes for a recommendation that I sit at the bar after entering the venue. That caveat aside, the food was great and the staff were kind. A nice, well-balanced, filling, and warm meal on a cold day! read more

More than 30 minute wait for food while I watched bugs crawling around. Lemonade refill, 20 minutes after SHE offered. I recently visited Social Cantina on a Saturday night. I was pleasantly surprised that there wasn't a long wait and our group of 6 was able to be seated right away at 6:30! Our server was great at getting quick refills and was super friendly. The decor is also wonderful. My food was delicious, but it came out a bit cold, which was a bummer. My son had the kids meal and I had a quesadilla, chips and queso for under $7. I thought it was a good deal for all the food he got. So far on our girls weekend, this has been the favorite by far. All of the drinks were so good. I had the Blackberry Spiced Sangria from the winter menu and it's probably my favorite cocktail I've had anywhere ever. When we went to order a second round, they only had enough left to make one and we were all about to fight for it. I let my friend have it and tried the Rose Sangria, which also pretty good. The food was good too. Of the three tacos I ordered, I liked the barbacoa the best. They did come out on a little tray which was cute at first but once I realized how messy it was gonna be, I was like how is this going to work? We split the chips and queso which we all enjoyed too. The vibe and decor were pretty cool but it doesn't take much to impress us, just shiny things. read more

Text service from Isabel at the bar. I'm staying at a hotel around the corner. Thought I would venture out and go see what the towns about stumbled in this place for some fajitas. This was the margarita flight featuring the Prickly Pear Mezcalita, Blueberry Basil, Lychee. I appreciated I could customize my rims. I was very disappointed they ran out of actual lychees for garnish; this was something the birthday girl went here for specifically. I'm unaware of the tequila content -- I wouldn't consider these strong or big drinks. Presentation and service were great! read more

My review is mixed. I was going to a concert downtown and grabbed a bite to eat before walking over to Gainbridge. I had eaten there before for the same reason. My first visit was pleasant and the food was very good. We ordered a variety of appetizers including salsa, queso and guacamole. I would give it 4 stars for that trip. The second time recently was not quite as impressive. There was an odd smell wafting near our table that reeked of faulty plumbing. We ordered the vegetarian nachos and they were not what I was expecting. It was a massive mountain of chips and the toppings fell short. The picture I am adding doesn't really show how the ratio was very imbalanced. The nachos were basically OK in taste, but there was too much of the chipotle cream sauce, and there was no cheese. It would have been MUCH better with cheese. I might consider trying this restaurant again, but I would definitely order something else on the menu besides an appetizer to get a better feel for what else they offer. read more

Our order was accurate and I definitely will return when in the situation of hunger for Mexican.. TV's were on the sports I wanted to watch. Fantastic atmosphere. The margarita was so decadent! Definitely enjoyed the atmosphere and our service was fast! Came in with a group of 3 and were seated fairly fast for being a Friday with no reservation. Joined my sister and her boyfriend who attends IU and they wanted to show me a local taco joint that was trending. We ordered the mango habanero salsa and it sure is a scorcher! I can usually tolerate spice but this was HOT. I ordered a side of cilantro rice and small Queso and they were eh. The rice was my least favorite of what I ordered. I was not impressed. After we got our food it got quite busy and ended up staying 30 extra minutes to wait for the check. I would recommend going before the rush. The tacos on the other hand...I enjoyed to my hearts content! Definitely enjoyed my fish and vegetarian taco (I am not a vegetarian or vegan, just wanted to try something new). I thought they were good! For being in Bloomington it's not bad! I recommend giving them a try! read more

We went on a very busy night as there was a convention in town. We (2) managed to immediately get a seat at the bar, we waited a bit for our drinks to be taken (understandably) but we put our food order in soon after and everything came out surprisingly fast. We got the chips & salsa flight which was bigger than we expected, a (actually)spicy margarita and an array of tacos.
