Absolutely delicious ! We all had tacos (corn tortilla & onion, cilantro). The staff were so friendly and helpful. Great atmosphere, cute little town! Definitely worth the trip! Yum!

Lunch chimichanga special at Los Maguelles in Fortville
Mark H.

This place has a great location in old downtown Fortville. For some reason, the whole downtown of Fortville is closed on Mondays, but at least Los Maguelles is open. Their salsa has a nice kick to it and the chips come out warm. I ordered the lunch special chimichanga which was advertised as having shredded beef on the menu, but it actually was served with ground beef. It was well prepared & had a good sauce on the top, but I would not have ordered it had I known it was ground beef. The guacamole on the side was especially good, and I even heard other customers remark on how tasty it was. I wouldn't go out of my way to come to Los Maguelles, but it was decent Mexican food in a pleasant location.

Great steak tacos! Loved chips and salsa! I'm definitely going back to this Mexican restaurant.

Beef chimichangas - good sauce, but beef was kind of tough and not well shredded. Refried beans were thin and had no flavor.

Great margaritas. Love the food. Friendly staff. Great atmosphere and a place to hangout at the bar or in the dinning side. Will be back.

Fresh and tons of choices, even seafood and vegi! Their grilled shrimp entrees are the bomb like hibachi shrimp.

Huge portions with a great price - very happy with my meal - and leftovers. Nice choices at the bar.

The food is okay. The service is horrible. And it seems like they have slacked off a bit with their cleaning. Their salsa is weak.

I kicked off the evening with the Black Margarita--a berry-flavored twist on the classic--which, unfortunately, reminded me more of cough syrup than a cocktail. As usual, we started with choriqueso, though this version was overwhelmingly queso with just a small amount of chorizo. My husband ordered the Quesabirria Tacos and enjoyed them, while I opted for the beer-battered shrimp tacos--admittedly a bold choice for someone who usually avoids seafood unless I'm near the coast. I'll be sticking to that rule from now on, especially after dealing with some stomach discomfort later that night. While the restaurant clearly has a strong reputation and many enticing options, our first visit didn't quite live up to the hype. Prices leaned toward the higher end, and oddly, a server who wasn't even assigned to our table ended up being more attentive than our actual one. That said, the restaurant was busy, and both food and drinks arrived in a timely manner. The ambiance gives off a more upscale, modern Mexican vibe, but personally, I'll always prefer the flavors and value of a traditional Mexican spot over something that feels overpriced and underwhelming.

But I'm so glad I was hungry and ordered the lasagna. It's a decent amount of food and I think it was the best Lasagna I've ever had. Seriously. Melted in my mouth and the texture and flavor was amazing. All the pasta and sauces are made in house and I could taste the difference. Delicious. My SO had been thinking about their linguine and clams and was not disappointed. There were fewer clams than the last time (granted it's been a long while now) so it's best for a lite appetite. Service was good and the owner stopped by as well ... from Italy and these are home recipes. Looks like they recently installed new carpet which was nice. Love all the framed pictures especially in the back room. This restaurant is perfect for a special occasion, or an intimate dinner, or for just when you want some authentic great Italian food.

It was hopping on a Friday night. I had been wanting to come here for a long time.. Everyone I know says this place is really good. This is a 3.5 star review. The bruschetta was 4 pieces and soggy. It was also 15 dollars. They don't serve table bread for free so I ordered some for $4 and it was about 5 1/2 slices of the same bread they used for the bruschetta. It was served with a bowl of oil with balsamic vinegar. I also asked for my pasta to be saucy and the waitress looked at me and she said, do you mean you want extra sauce? So for $2 extra I feel I got a normal amount of sauce so I'm not sure what a regular amount looks like. Unfortunately the pasta was pre-denté. Everyone else's dishes were steaming hot and the pasta was visibly able to be twirled around a fork. Mine was warm and I had to cut it with a spoon and fork just to get it separated for many bites, which were very chewy, almost hard. The ragù was fine. The atmosphere was nice for dinner. I read some other reviews and they are definitely mixed. One of my friends who had been before warned me after I was excited to initially try the cheese wheel pasta, to be careful. She said hers was wet and vodka flavored, so I didn't get it. Similar reviews said the same. I will say the calamari was some of the best I've had lately. Not chewy at all and a lovely light batter, served with tomato sauce. I did find it odd that the sauce was cold. Everyone else seemed to really enjoy their meals so this gets the 3.5 stars.

I didn't realize a chile relleno could come frozen but Chuy's found the supplier that makes it. And it's awful for what it is.. two completely identical, DEEP fried from frozen chile rellenos are quite an alarming spectacle to behold, if I'm being honest. My fiance had steak tacos and he said they were cold. The steak was NOT from a freshly made steak; it was like the pre-sliced cuts of meat you get for salads and such. The person behind us also got tacos and theirs were out less than 5 mins after they ordered. Big red flag, especially the server saying, "look how quick that was!" We won't be back. It is NOT worth the price you're paying.

We sat at the bar and were very well taken care of by Christian, who provided excellent service from start to finish. I decided to order the empanadas, guac, and churros from the happy hour menu. Everything was $5/each. I went with the steak empanadas, cuz unfortunately you can't mix and match flavors. For me, the texture was a bit off. Christian noticed my hesitation right away and kindly offered to replace them. He brought out the chicken empanadas instead, and they were much better. Not phenomenal, but enjoyable. My classic margarita was refreshing... until the manager offered me a sample of the Carriage House margarita. Whew! Yaaaass! That was deliciously potent! Easily two drinks in one, so pace yourself. It has officially become my new go-to leaded bev when dining here. If paella is your thing, I'd absolutely recommend it. That's usually my standard order. But just a heads up... sometimes it can be a lil like my friend when my outfit is cuter than hers - salty! So, you may find yourself needing another margarita to help balance your palate.
