Wife and I tried this place after Mass on a Saturday evening. It's across the street from the Boathouse near the bridge in Cicero. Parking is behind the restaurant as they have outdoor dining set up on a front patio, although there had been rain on the day we came so the patio wasn't being used. It's not the cleanest looking restaurant on the inside, but it's fine. We were seated immediately upon entering into one of the many booths they have, promptly were asked for our drink order, followed by a basket of chips and salsa being brought to the table, and then placed our order when the server brought our drinks. All of this took place inside of probably 2 minutes. Although not every table was filled, there were a number of folks who were already there as well as entered when we did, so the service was not lacking. The chips were sort of the standard chip for a restaurant like this, a decent crunch and not much flavor. The salsa was more on the runny side as opposed to the chunky that we prefer, but it did have a good flavor and just the right amount of spice to it for a little kick without being too much. Not that it was an issue for us, but they do indicate on their menu that the first 2 baskets and salsas are complimentary, but cost $1.99 for additional orders beyond that. In my opinion, that actually seems pretty reasonable all considered. We decided to split an item listed as "new" on their menu, Seafood Fajita ($16.99). Like the rest of our experience, our meal arrived pretty soon after we order it. All of their fajita orders include a plate of refried beans, Mexican rice, lettuce, guac, pico and 3 corn or flour tortillas. Along with the usual peppers, onions, and tomatoes, our choice included scallops, shrimp, crab, and a piece of tilapia, and they didn't skimp on the quantity. I know ordering seafood can be dicey at places like this, but everything seemed to be legit and tasted pretty good. We were both filled and agreed that we would order it again. Even though we did like what we got, their menu seems to have a decent bit of other offerings that I would be interested to try as well. Bottom line, it was a very efficient meal that we both enjoyed and was priced reasonably. When the weather is more dependable, I'm sure dining on the patio would be a nice experience for a view of the reservoir and bridge as well as the general car and pedestrian traffic along the main drag. read more

Nothing to write home about as far as Mexican or TexMex, but good enough for the suburbs of Indianapolis. We had a few basic items from here as far as mains, and they were good enough. The guacamole, meanwhile, was most likely out of a can, or at least tasted like that. And the cheese dip was as basic as you can get. So, stick with basic foods that every Mexican Restaurant serves, and skip the starters, and you should be okay here. read more

First, the good. The food portions were large and tasted great for Americanized Mexican. We got two meals off both orders. I could have easily downed the second burrito but I chose portion control. The salsa looked standard fare but tasted much better and it was homemade. The only negative to the food, the server skimped on chips even after we ordered queso cheese. It's dipping cheese, not soup. Second, the bad. The restaurant is small and some sections the seating is cramped and some booths too close together. We had four loud talking retirees downing margaritas two tables over and it was like they were sitting with us. Other seating looked reasonable, we just got bad luck. Third, the ugly. This place needs a good scrubbing. The window shades were filthy and menus were sticky. There are a lot of roof leaks and the ceiling is stained. I don't want to know what is above the ceiling. If they aren't cleaning the menus or worrying about leaks, what is the kitchen condition? Woof. Overall the big portions and tasty food buoys this review for three stars. read more

My wife and I both got the same thing. The fajita quesadilla and it was fantastic, the portion sizes were really good for a Mexican restaurant which is normal way too much food. The margaritas are delicious but POTENT. Great service and incredibly fast! The ambiance is like a normal Mexican restaurant but their patio is very nice with a view of the lake. My family and I had lunch here the other day. We thought the food was very good. I had a chicken quesadilla (which was tasty). My wife had a steak fajita that was very generous with the amount of steak. My older daughter enjoyed her street tacos. My son liked his children nachos and my younger daughter really liked her steak chimichanga. La Cascada offers good food and generous portions at a fair price. I pass by here on my way to work everyday and I have always wanted to stop. Well today our foremen decided to come here for lunch and I was impressed to say the least. First of all the restraunt is located just off of the bridge that crosses Morse Lake in Cicero. The view from my fable was gorgeous and almost had a marina feel. Of course you are started out with the traditional chips and salsa, which I was a fan of, because the salsa was a little hotter than most other places. I ordered the chicken fajitas. The rice and beans were about on par with most other Mexican restaurants, but the fajitas were perfect. The bell peppers, onions, and tomatoes were carmelized to perfection and the chicken was moist, but still had the burnt edges. I definitely recommend this restaurant if you are in the area and are craving Mexican. read more

Food is typical for a Mexican restaurant, they have a large menu. A lot of the meals don't come with toppings and we weren't warned about it. The host was friendly, however our server was rude. Short and clipped about trying to place a kids food order first and almost arguing with a family member over their order. Just not friendly or helpful whatsoever. My first visit here and I was definitely impressed. A friend and I arrived rather late (8:00 pm, closing time is 9:00) yet we received excellent service. The chips and salsa were really good! Chips were served HOT, fresh, and crispy. The salsa was very smooth and flavorful. I like hot salsa and asked if they had a spicy salsa. Our server brought a bowl of spicy salsa right out and it was very good. It was slightly more chunky and had a great flavor, definitely hotter. I enjoyed both salsas. I ordered veggie fajitas and my friend ordered steak fajitas. We were both very pleased. Again, despite the proximity to closing time, all the ingredients were very fresh and tasty. The rice was perfect, the beans had a good texture and flavor. The vegetables were perfectly grilled and nicely seasoned. My friend enjoyed the steak fajitas as well. The server was excellent, making frequent trips to our table, bringing extra salsa, chips, and boxes when it became apparent that we would have food to take home. The were completely rude and of course the guy didn't listen to me to begin with and didn't bring me what was asked for. So when I said politely that it was wrong he cussed me out in Spanish. This place was fairly average. The place was nearly empty when we dined here. Our server seemed to have other things on her mind. I requested unsweetened iced tea and received sweetened - blech! On to the food... The salsa served with the chips was blah. I ordered carne asada (steak) tacos with cheese as well as sides of rice and beans. My steak was dry and disappointing. However, I really enjoyed the rice and beans. They weren't overly salty like most places. I would make the drive to find another Mexican restaurant when in the area. read more

This was a first. While the waiter was taking our orders and we were selecting what we wanted from the "vegetarian" section of the menu, he mentioned to my daughter's Mexican boyfriend in Spanish that ALL the beans there have chorizo in them!!! I asked him more than once because I just couldn't believe it...you mean you don't have beans without chorizo, and he said no! I am shocked they'd have a vegetarian section that had 3 item combos all of which had something with the chorizo beans. The food that I could eat wasn't terrible, but I've had way better. Love this location! Located right across from the lake it is a very calming and beautiful view. We sat outside which made this even more enjoyable. Our server was nice and the owner even came around talking with us and telling us about their other location opening soon near Purdue. The server ended up bringing us some tequila shots for the table which was a fun surprise. The food was delicious- my fiance and i split the fajitas and this was plenty big for both of us. What happened? This used to be my favorite but recently, it's taken a turn and enough for me to create an account to leave a review to warn others! I order delivery once a month from here (usually on Thursday around lunch, then often on Saturdays and Sundays) The last 3 times have been a disaster: stale chips (like a week old stale!) and SOUR salsa (extremely gross and hard to get past the tingly feeling you get when it touches your tongue. isn't just "off" tasting, but genuinely tastes hazardous). They have forgotten items the last two times (queso-which stinks more when the salsa is inedible and a beverage) I don't know if it's because of cutting costs or new management, but it's absolutely terrible all around. Will probably be the last time I order from them in a long time :( read more

I would hardly say La Cascada is the average Mexican restaurant because while they have the usual menu items of most Mexican restaurants in Indianapolis and the surrounding area, the thing that sets them apart is that their dishes actually have flavor. Everything from the salsa to the flan had seasoning or taste to it that kept it from being bland and made me remember why I like Mexican food so much. It was probably the cilantro in the salsa. I'm not sure what it was with their queso dip, but our table agreed it had a great taste and is better than average. We had fajitas which were seasoned, and I'm happy to say were prepared properly so that the meat was tender and moist, not dry. The chili Colorado actually had some heat to it, so it was better than most. The chicken verde had a pleasant tomatillo flavor with just a bit of spice that complimented the entire dish. We enjoyed our entrees so much that we decided to go ahead and try the flan. The texture was a smooth and creamy, and the caramel sauce had a light buttery finish. Our server was pleasant and attentive. We didn't have drinks, so I would like to go back and try out the margaritas with another great dinner. read more

This has become a regular spot for us. They have an outdoor patio with a beautiful lake view. That's largely what sets it apart for us. They have a good selection on their menu and the food is on par with most mexican restaurants. I particularly like their salsa - lots of cilantro in it. We've been about 6-7 times in the last month and the service has been spot on each time. Our drinks are kept full, refills on chips and salsa are proactive and waitstaff visits the table regularly to check in. I reserve 5 star reviews for places that are really unique or incredible food I crave after having it. This place doesn't rise to that level, but my highest recommendation for a 4 star joint. read more

Decided to try out La Cascada with a few friends, my girlfriend, and my father the other night. I must admit as soon as I walked in I was impressed with how clean and well decorated this place is. It's pretty obvious La Cascada is relatively low budget, I do believe they have another location in Noblesville though. Regardless, I was pleased to see what they had done with the place. It's located just across the bridge in Cicero where many restaurants have failed. We were first served chips and salsa with our drinks while we looked over the menu, which is one of the biggest menus I have seen. Don't get too excited though, super large menu and zero diversity. Almost everything will come with pico de gallo, guacamole, rice, and/or tortillas. I was just really disappointed to see that the chef or owner wasn't able to come up with a few fresh, exciting, and different side options. To be fair, I did try some of the guacamole and it was very good. I decided to order the "Fajitas Chihuahua" dish, which was a combination of chicken, shrimp, steak, and bacon with sauteed peppers and onions on top of a cheese sauce, served in a skillet. This was a very safe choice on my part, but I really can't stress enough how boring their menu is. I don't want to go into a Mexican restaurant and order something you'd typically find anywhere else. I like to try new things, and see that a small town restaurant can compete with the big guys. I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner. It was good, but it was too simple of a dish to mess up. Nothing special about it. The service was pretty awful. Our server was quiet and didn't seem to care, and didn't hide it. He didn't really check in with us to see how our food was, nor did he refill drinks(at least mine). We saw him to take our order, deliver our food, and drop off our check. Don't get me wrong, it is unbelievably annoying when a server won't leave you alone, but this was far too little attention. All and all, La Cascada doesn't seem like a bad place after only one experience. I will not be returning, because there's nothing there that excites me. I'd rather eat at Abuelo's and pay more for it. I'll give La Cascada 3 stars because what I did try of their food tasted good, but their poor service and overall poor menu was underwhelming. read more

I live in Cicero. Been here several times. It has never been exceptional, but good, inexpensive and fast. Tonight was different. I ordered a steak chimi. The steak was chewy, full of gristle and stringy. It was $10.99. I told our waiter about it twice and he said "I told them about it" and he gave me a check for the full amount due. I told the cashier, which I believe was our waiter, I couldn't believe they charged me full price! He said I ate all of it, which wasn't correct. However, the chewy meat was on the last part of the chimi, so I did eat most of it. They obviously don't need my business, given their rude response. I'm never going back! Too many better dining options. This is very sad. They get 1 star, as my wife said her meal was good. I would give them minus 5 stars! read more

OK little place in a location that's had a lot of restaurant turnover. The food was decent. I got one of their Pollo Loco dishes. The chicken was pounded thin and came out on a sizzling plate with chorizo. Drawback was what seemed like velveeta melted on it. Tasted OK, but just not what I expected. They had very generous chips and salsa - and we all loved their salsa. Seconds all around. One problematic thing was that we were seated under the AC vents, and there were some chunks of dust coming out of them, landing right on the table. As far as the food is concerned, this location is much better than the Noblesville location. The portion sizes seem larger and the food itself just tastes better. Service is fast and prompt but not overly friendly. Menu is large and there are daily specials. They are happy to make vegetarian modifications when they can as well, which I appreciate. I like the decor and ambiance at La Cascada but it always seems kind of on the chilly side. But, what can you do? It's clean and colorful but not over the top. Menu consists of your basic Mexican fare selections with a few twists, like a Mexican pizza and a wide variety of fajitas. The fried ice cream is pretty delicious and the sopapillas are pretty tasty as well, thought the strawberry sauce didn't seem very "authentic." If you are in the area, this is a great place to grab lunch or dinner if you are hankering for some Mexican. read more

While out driving around in the area, we came across this place & decided to give it a try. We walked in and stood in the waiting area for about 10 minutes before anyone even came up there to seat us. We should have just left instead of staying for a less than stellar dinner. We were finally sat and our waiter was friendly, but seemed overwhelmed and the place was not even that busy. We ordered a California burrito and a special #1. The burrito was huge, which was good, but the flavor average at best. The Special #1 included one beef taco, 2 cheese enchiladas and rice. The taco was ok, but the cheese inside the enchilada was not even melted in the middle. Cheese enchiladas are something I order all the time at Mexican restaurants and these were some of the worst I've ever had. Dinner for 2 with soft drinks and queso was $32. Do yourself a favor a go spend $30 somewhere else! Will not return to this place again if in ever in the area! read more
