Samples of mac and pickled chips. Recommend.

Looking on Yelp for a new place to try, I stumbled on this highly rated lunch spot. It is tucked away at the fort, but a very popular spot. We walked in and were immediately greeted by Mr. Fitzgerald. He could tell we were new, and offered tips and suggestions. They were already sold out of the chicken salad for the day. I opted for the Chicken Bacon Wrap and my mother got the Cubano. While we were waiting for our food, a patron recommended the mac and cheese, baked potato casserole, and soups. My mother sampled the mac & cheese and said it was REALLY good. We also sampled the House Pickle Chips. Very refreshing and tasty as well. We enjoyed all of the food. This restaurant is only open for 3 hours but offers catering. There are several table for in person dining. I highly recommend stopping in for some lunch if you're in the area. You won't be disappointed!

You order at the counter and they bring to whatever table you choose.

My friend and I live on opposite sides of town (NE vs SE) so we looked for a local lunch place in the middle. Picked Fitzgerald's due to the great reviews and they were not lying! The hospitality of the staff was top notch. They found out we had never been there before so brought us a sample of their signature side of the baked potato casserole. Yum! I got the Cubano and my friend got the Wilbur and they were both great. The place is really cute. They're only open during the week and during lunch. I will be back for sure.

Had a wonderful lunch at Fitzgeralds recently. It's only open on weekdays for lunch so I've been meaning to come here for a long time, but haven't been able to until now. Everything we had is so fresh and you can tell it's made with a lot of care. You order and pay at the counter, get a number, and then are served at your table. The atmosphere is very casual, and the interior is clean and bright. There is lots of parking available as well. We had a couple different people check on us throughout our meal which I appreciated. I got the chicken salad sandwich and it was delicious. I'm always nervous to order chicken salad since it changes so much from place to place, but this one was clearly made with fresh chicken. My dad got the Cobb salad and really enjoyed it. We both got soups, I got lemon chicken orzo and my dad got the tomato bisque. I highly recommend both. This was a delicious lunch for a reasonable price and I hope to be back soon.

Menu and the special was sloppy joes.

Everyone was so friendly, I've been interested in this place for awhile and glad we finally went! The food was very good and we were in and out in less than 45 minutes. The layout is unique as an old mule barn with the dining spread out. It definitely gave it a homier feel and didn't get too loud since it was sectioned off. The desserts looked really good but was trying to behave!

WOW! What a great little spot! We've tried to visit this wonderful establishment several times, but have always missed out. Their hours are 11A-2p Monday-Friday , this alone should've told me this place is gonna be GREAT! They stay in business only being open 15 hours per week, incredible!! We stopped in on a Thursday around 12:30, the line was out the door but moved quickly. The interior Is nicely decorated, has a decent amount of tables , and they have extra patio seating! We sat on the patio as the weather was beautiful. The food?? AMAZING!! That Rooster sandwich was mouthwatering , The Maurice was ssssooooo flavorful, and the baked potato casserole was terrific!! I can't wait to try the rest of the menu!

Delicious food, relaxed ambience, friendly waitress who chatted with our party. In all a great experience, would definitely be a regular customer if I lived in the state.

The entire staff is so very friendly here. This restaurant has a deceptively large dining area that just keeps going and going as you move towards the back. They have a pretty simple menu with sandwiches, salads and wraps. They also have daily entree and side specials that they post on their FB page. The day I was there the special was chicken and noodles and chipotle mac & cheese. The top it off they have a hot sauce bar and desserts like some huge coconut cookies. They have a down home type of vibe. It is somewhat a cafeteria style restaurant. You place your order and they make it for you from the prepared trays on the line. You then pay for it at the register at the end of the line. If you are dining in, they will bring your food to you. I got the bacon wrap with the chipotle mac & cheese special. It was fresh and delicious. The wrap was very tasty and flavorful. The bacon, lettuce, tomatoes and other ingredients were so fresh. The Mac & Cheese was cheesy and had a little chipotle kick, just like I like it. When you are done eating, you can just get up and go. They will come, get your tray and clean your table. Like I said, high quality service. The restaurant has a decent size private parking lot and is very clean. I highly recommend checking out this joint. It has great food and high quality service, all at a reasonable price. I throughly enjoyed my meal and will definitely be back soon.

Pulling in, I wasn't sure which building was the actual destination, but we walked right up to the register and were greeted by 2 gentlemen. You order and take a number and then are served at your seat. We walked around from the main room, into a middle smaller room, and then to another small room in the back. There's patio dining, but it was windy so we opted inside. We were a group of 3 so we pulled 2 tables together in the middle room. All the food is prepared fresh and every single worker is committed to your dining experience! An older gentleman came into our room and talked about the local art displayed where we were sitting, and then mentioned the owner who came out and chatted with us. He was the first person who greeted us and took our order. When a server named Crystal found out it was our first time there, she brought us out a sample of the mashed potatoes- which were DELISH! The salads are crisp and fresh! Loved it all! When I found out we were returning to the area, the first thing I said, I want to go to Fitzgerald's!!!

The sandwich is about as long as my humerus, and I ate the whole dang thing in one sitting. New York Gourmet Deli is not to be confused with NY Gourmet Deli, also in Indy. New York Gourmet Deli is located on East 21st Street on the near east side; NY Gourmet Deli is on Ruckle Street, near The Children's Museum. Are they owned by the same people? I don't know, but someone needs to change their name so I'm less confused. Anyway, New York Gourmet Deli, on the east side, is great and located in an unassuming parking lot full of potholes. It looks like a liquor store from the outside, but step inside and you'll see the large deli counter where you order sandwiches, burgers, fries and other foods. The joint is also a convenience store, of sorts, with a wall full of refrigerated beverages, aisles of chips, candy, and lots of Mexican snacks. There's also a little corner of the store with goods like laundry detergent and other necessities. The hustle here is unmatched. The fellows behind the counter were flying all over the kitchen to fulfill the orders. I visited around noon on a weekday, which seemed to be a busy time because there were lots of people from all walks of life here, either waiting to order or waiting for their orders. The guys behind the counter were unflappable and took orders and made sandwiches at a speedy pace. Even if there's a line, you won't wait long for your food.

Service was very good with only a slight wait due to a small line. You order, they start making your order and you pay. A few minutes later the have everything ready and bagged up. I got a chopped cheese, it does reminded me of a sloppy Joe, and my only complaint was I wanted more lettuce and tomato. Richelle got the east coast roast beef and cheddar. She loved it and it had plenty of lettuce and tomato. Fries are good, and the give them a sprinkle of seasoning too. Plenty of cans of pop to choose, but would like to see a few diet pop options added. We will definitely come back, and I ask for plenty of toppings.

For me, Jockamo remains a solid entry in Indy pizza scene. It's a place I look forward to visiting, but I'm unlikely to ever consider it one of Indy's best. For those who don't yet know, this location is in the Fort Ben area in one of the office buildings. It's on the ground floor and faces East 56th Street. It is right across the parking lot from a Tru by Hilton. Jockamo is locally owned. There are locations in Irvington and Greenwood in addition to this one. All the locations tend to have a slightly hipster vibe with a warm, hospitable decor and friendly customer service. On this day, I arrived shortly after their 11am open for a quick lunch. I typically get a "build your own" option here - it's nearly always a 10" pepperoni pizza and my usual unsweetened iced tea. I eat for about $15. I will occasionally get breadsticks, though I didn't today. Today, I was basically told I could sit where I wanted. I picked a comfy 4-top near a window. This building was fairly new when opened a bit over ten years ago. So, unlike most of Fort Ben there are not really accessibility issues. That said, a couple of the parking spots are not ADA compliant and that always leaves me asking "Why?" There are a couple of truly ADA compliant spots. I have definitely had occasions when I passed by Jockamo because accessible parking as not available. They serve up the usual selection at all three locations including a wide variety of pizza options easily customized, a variety of appetizers, beer/wine, salads, sandwiches, a lunch special menu, and more. Vegetarians can easily get by here - My sense is that Vegans can, but I won't swear to it. I ordered my usual. The pepperoni pizza was good with ample toppings that were generous without being decadent. The crust was nicely crisped, though not burnt. Again, this is not my favorite Indy pizza. However, I consistently like it. I think where Jockamo tends to excel is in customer service and that was also top-notch today. Jockamo offers free Wi-Fi. They also carry local art work AND give 100% of the proceeds (cash only) to the artist. I love that. During warmer months, they do have outside dining options. They also have a bar area that is not kid-friendly. The rest of the dining room is family friendly. I still prefer this location. Irvington is the original - it's got a great vibe, but I'm just a Fort Ben dude. I like this spot and I love this area. During the week, they also have lunch specials that are awesome including slice options. I'm not around Fort Ben during the week as I work downtown, but I really like the specials and go for them when I can. Good pizza. Great people. An environment that is warm and welcoming. Ten years later, I still love Jockamo.

With my most recent visit on 5/7/2026, the man with the long hair and head wrap taking orders and slicing meat, was clearly agitated. He was observed throwing the meats and cheeses into the metal slicer with unnecessary force. I was tempted to leave when I witnessed this with the two parties ahead of me, however, I had been waiting a few minutes and was excited for lunch. When it was my time to order he asked me 3 times what I wanted and replied "of course you do" when I requested that my meat and cheese be left on the side. While retrieving the container for my salad the whole stack of containers fell on the floor which agitated him even more. I was scared to ask for a clean container (one that had not been on the floor) so I went along for the ride. He proceeded to place the ham, turkey, and cheese into the metal slicer, slamming the metal down each time (which I have never witnessed in my many trips to Jersey Mike's). All of his behavior elicited awkward glances between other customers and employees working alongside him. It was evident that this employee was not enthused to be working and his behavior rose to the level of inappropriateness that the young women working the cash register felt the need to apologize to me when I arrived at the register to pay. We all have bad days at work but when working in a customer-facing role, this behavior is not only off-putting but was aggressive and unacceptable. In a normal situation I would have asked to speak to the manager; however, the man I assume is in a managerial position has also been less than friendly and professional in my experience on one other occasion.
