This place is spoken highly of, and I finally had the chance to visit and check them out. I love the location it is very cozy and decorated, the menu has a nice selection of sandwiches, salads and soup! I had the Maurice, and it was delicious! Fresh, savory, Italian sub, it's going to be hard to try new sandwiches after having this one, and when they learned it was my first time visiting, I was given a sample of the Mac a cheese, and it was good! Especially for it being so close to the end of the day for them! Definitely going back, and I hope others will visit them as well! Service is very friendly! read more

Fitzgerald's Lunch House is exactly that, a place where you can get lunch only. The hours are 11am - 2pm Monday - Friday. The sandwiches are very delicious. The roast beef is tender and warm. The sides I have had so far are the potato casserole, homemade chips that come with every meal and the Mac and cheese. Everything was warm and cook roast perfection . The restaurant has I think 4 rooms to dine in, which includes the outside sitting. read more

We happened upon this place by happy accident and will DEFINITELY be coming back. The owner greeted us upon coming in, was very friendly, food is all fresh and made in house, great use of unique space and the art is cool! (Also the owner's handiwork) We fawned over how good the sides looked and he gave us each a little sample of some mac and cheese and potato casserole--to die for. Then we decided to also take a salad to go because it looked so good and we didn't realize until we got home that they snuck a delicious cookie into our bag. I have a new crush!! It's on this place! read more

Looking on Yelp for a new place to try, I stumbled on this highly rated lunch spot. It is tucked away at the fort, but a very popular spot. We walked in and were immediately greeted by Mr. Fitzgerald. He could tell we were new, and offered tips and suggestions. They were already sold out of the chicken salad for the day. I opted for the Chicken Bacon Wrap and my mother got the Cubano. While we were waiting for our food, a patron recommended the mac and cheese, baked potato casserole, and soups. My mother sampled the mac & cheese and said it was REALLY good. We also sampled the House Pickle Chips. Very refreshing and tasty as well. We enjoyed all of the food. This restaurant is only open for 3 hours but offers catering. There are several table for in person dining. I highly recommend stopping in for some lunch if you're in the area. You won't be disappointed! read more

My friend and I live on opposite sides of town (NE vs SE) so we looked for a local lunch place in the middle. Picked Fitzgerald's due to the great reviews and they were not lying! The hospitality of the staff was top notch. They found out we had never been there before so brought us a sample of their signature side of the baked potato casserole. Yum! I got the Cubano and my friend got the Wilbur and they were both great. The place is really cute. They're only open during the week and during lunch. I will be back for sure. read more

Fitzgerald's serves sandwiches and salads only. I ordered a roast beast sandwich (roast beef, provolone, au jus), which comes with kettle chips for about $12. I also ordered a side of mac & cheese (about $4) and a chocolate chip cookie ($3.50) because I'm a hog. The roast beast was okay. It had a generous amount of beef, but it was too salty. The beef was dipped in some sort of brine or stock that had too much salt. Also, the beef-to-cheese ratio was off for my taste..... there was too much beef and not enough cheese. The chips were good. The mac and cheese was great. The cookie was also great, and it was huge! The staff was very good - they were friendly and they did a great job keeping the restaurant looking nice. read more

Had a wonderful lunch at Fitzgeralds recently. It's only open on weekdays for lunch so I've been meaning to come here for a long time, but haven't been able to until now. Everything we had is so fresh and you can tell it's made with a lot of care. You order and pay at the counter, get a number, and then are served at your table. The atmosphere is very casual, and the interior is clean and bright. There is lots of parking available as well. We had a couple different people check on us throughout our meal which I appreciated. I got the chicken salad sandwich and it was delicious. I'm always nervous to order chicken salad since it changes so much from place to place, but this one was clearly made with fresh chicken. My dad got the Cobb salad and really enjoyed it. We both got soups, I got lemon chicken orzo and my dad got the tomato bisque. I highly recommend both. This was a delicious lunch for a reasonable price and I hope to be back soon. read more

We walked into this unassuming place and were created by the chef and owner. Super friendly and helpful and explained that most things were house made! Our group ordered the Cobb salad, pulled pork sandwich, egg salad and potato casserole. Everything was fresh and delicious. We sampled the Mac & cheese and it was excellent. WOW! What a great little spot! We've tried to visit this wonderful establishment several times, but have always missed out. Their hours are 11A-2p Monday-Friday , this alone should've told me this place is gonna be GREAT! They stay in business only being open 15 hours per week, incredible!! We stopped in on a Thursday around 12:30, the line was out the door but moved quickly. The interior Is nicely decorated, has a decent amount of tables , and they have extra patio seating! We sat on the patio as the weather was beautiful. The food?? AMAZING!! That Rooster sandwich was mouthwatering , The Maurice was ssssooooo flavorful, and the baked potato casserole was terrific!! I can't wait to try the rest of the menu! read more

Everyone was so friendly, I've been interested in this place for awhile and glad we finally went! The food was very good and we were in and out in less than 45 minutes. The layout is unique as an old mule barn with the dining spread out. It definitely gave it a homier feel and didn't get too loud since it was sectioned off. The desserts looked really good but was trying to behave! read more

The entire staff is so very friendly here. This restaurant has a deceptively large dining area that just keeps going and going as you move towards the back. They have a pretty simple menu with sandwiches, salads and wraps. They also have daily entree and side specials that they post on their FB page. The day I was there the special was chicken and noodles and chipotle mac & cheese. The top it off they have a hot sauce bar and desserts like some huge coconut cookies. They have a down home type of vibe. It is somewhat a cafeteria style restaurant. You place your order and they make it for you from the prepared trays on the line. You then pay for it at the register at the end of the line. If you are dining in, they will bring your food to you. I got the bacon wrap with the chipotle mac & cheese special. It was fresh and delicious. The wrap was very tasty and flavorful. The bacon, lettuce, tomatoes and other ingredients were so fresh. The Mac & Cheese was cheesy and had a little chipotle kick, just like I like it. When you are done eating, you can just get up and go. They will come, get your tray and clean your table. Like I said, high quality service. The restaurant has a decent size private parking lot and is very clean. I highly recommend checking out this joint. It has great food and high quality service, all at a reasonable price. I throughly enjoyed my meal and will definitely be back soon. read more

Went here for a holiday work luncheon. Very busy. We had a group of 7 so we squeezed into a table in the front. The staff are super friendly, told us how to order and came by often to check everything was good. You line up to order, then pay, and if you're eating in they'll bring the food to your table. I wanted the egg salad sandwich but they were sold out so I got the chicken salad sandwich instead. I got a fountain drink too and the sandwich comes with chips. The sandwich was good and the chips were nice and salty. Can't emphasize enough how great the service is, they refilled our drinks and checked if we needed anything and cleared our plates too. I can see why this place is popular. Would definitely recommend. I was so hungry I forgot to take pictures lol. read more

I have only been here on one occasion but I was happy to find a great lunch spot in the Fort Ben area that I could find myself becoming a regular at. Pulling in, I wasn't sure which building was the actual destination, but we walked right up to the register and were greeted by 2 gentlemen. You order and take a number and then are served at your seat. We walked around from the main room, into a middle smaller room, and then to another small room in the back. There's patio dining, but it was windy so we opted inside. We were a group of 3 so we pulled 2 tables together in the middle room. All the food is prepared fresh and every single worker is committed to your dining experience! An older gentleman came into our room and talked about the local art displayed where we were sitting, and then mentioned the owner who came out and chatted with us. He was the first person who greeted us and took our order. When a server named Crystal found out it was our first time there, she brought us out a sample of the mashed potatoes- which were DELISH! The salads are crisp and fresh! Loved it all! When I found out we were returning to the area, the first thing I said, I want to go to Fitzgerald's!!! read more

Getting into this place requires you to put in a little work. It's not visible from the street but Once you know how to get in you're good to go. It's not a large building The staff was very friendly. I ordered the Rooster sandwich to go. The Rooster consists of: Chili lime chicken, smoked bacon, avocado, pickled onions, white Cheddar, and chipotle Mayo served on a toasted baguette. The meat takes several days of preparation that includes brining. The chipotle Mayo enhances the southwest smoky flavor. I can't wait to try their other menu items. read more

Had lunch today at Fitzgerald's Lunch House located by Ft Benjamin Harrison. They are only open 11-2pm Mon through Friday - I suggest getting there early to beat the crowds. We both got the Wilbur - smoked pulled pork on a brioche bun with a side of house made Barbeque sauce, pickles and potato chips. I also got a side of the baked potato casserole. The pork was a very generous portion of juicy smoked pork and the home made Barbeque sauce complimented it well. Their baked potato casserole is outstanding. In addition to several sandwich choices they also offer fresh soup and variety of salads. Give it a try - you won't leave hungry. read more

Holy Moly! Incredible service and food! I'm so beyond impressed. I've had this spot bookmarked for awhile and I'm so glad I could finally make it in. I was deciding between sandwiches and as soon as I read the Rooster description (Chili Lime Chicken, Smoked Bacon, Avocado, Pickled Onions, White Cheddar, Chipotle Cream Cheese on a Baguette) I had to have it! When the owner said it was his best seller I was won over even more. Flavor explosion! This is the king of sandwiches. Everything has a perfect ratio and it's so fresh. The chips that were served with it were great as well. Anytime I'm in the area and it's time for lunch, this is where you'll find me! read more

Such a cute place! Ordered take-out and it was PACKED! Thankfully, I was able to tell the difference between the two salads because they were labeled incorrectly (the vegetarian one was labeled Cobb and the Cobb was labeled the vegetarian). My lunch partner thoroughly enjoyed the Cobb with ranch! The choppa was good, but it came with ranch dressing (not what I had asked for) and I super dislike ranch dressing. It was a bummer that I didn't realize until it was on my salad! Overall though, it was yummy and I'd like to try other things! read more

My mom got: Rooster Sandwich- I tried it, it was delicious. Perfect bread to toppings ratio, the avocado cooled the chipotle cream cheese & chipotle lime chicken down. Not that it was super spicy or anything but just a nice contrast. I picked: Pork sandwich- loved the Brioche bread bun that was slightly toasted maybe with a little butter. The PORK was so tender and flavorful. BBQ sauce was not too sweet or tangy just right. Kettle chips came on the side those where pretty standard. My thoughts: The Friday special should be the natchos but with tots!!!!!!!! TOTCHOS please. read more

Yum. Yum. Just... Yum. Today I had the Rooster and it was delicious. The bread was nice and soft, the chicken was still tender. All of the menu items looked good. The potato casserole was great. I liked this place a lot, a whole lot. It's charming, it has a cozy feel to it, the service is friendly and inviting, and most of all the food is very very good. Coming here was recommended by someone who works in the Fort Ben area. She said I should go try the Cuban sandwich if I can get in but that the restaurant is fairly small and often fills up quickly. I lucked out - when I went a little after noon on a weekday I was one of about a half dozen people eating inside, plus a couple braving the cool weather on the patio. The gentleman who took my order at the counter seemed to be one of the primary food preparers, if not the only one. I did indeed order the Cubano - a sandwich with roasted pork loin (he told me he cuts it really thin and seasons it in a special way to boost the richness of the flavor of the pork), ham, pickle chips, yellow mustard and Swiss cheese, all hot pressed on Cuban bread. I've had many a Cuban sandwich before, particularly when I lived in Southwest Florida, and this was absolutely on par with anything I've had anywhere else. The sandwich came with kettle chips, and since I was new to visiting their restaurant, I graciously accepted sample size servings of their two hot sides - mac & cheese and baked potato casserole. I really liked both but found the casserole a little more interesting when paired with the sandwich. I would probably order an entire side of that next time. In addition to the food, I enjoyed sitting near the counter and listening to the banter of the employees, who all appeared to know each other well and may be related to each other. At one point the woman at the register said out loud, to no one in particular, that the music on the satellite radio sounded like ballet. I had noticed the music already because for my money you can't beat a place plays classical music during lunch hour, and I commented that I didn't think it was ballet, it actually sounded like Beethoven. Sure enough, the gentleman who took my order had put the radio on the Beethoven channel. So boom, nailed it. The lady who started the conversation commented that he likes to change it up as far as the radio goes and would probably put on Five Finger Death Punch by the end of the week. These were clearly my kind of people. So anyway, the menu is not huge. Eight different sandwiches, five different salads, five different sides, and soup. Oh, and let's not forget the homemade cookies. They seem to do a lot of catering business. I would most definitely come back and try other menu items. If I do, I almost guarantee they would push my 4-star rating to a 5. Bon appetit to the good folks who run this restaurant. read more
