We did the Point on Penn/Flatiron on tonight (Friday). It was outstanding. There was alive trio band and foods was phenomenal. As soon as I arrived I was greeted by several employees The atmosphere is cozy and intimate. Our server was wonderful! We had a group of five! We ate the Alfredo fries ,shrimp and grits, mac & cheese, Brussels sprouts, grilled chicken with asparagus, crunchy shrimp tacos and for dessert ..cheesecake, sticky pudding and espresso torte. The sticky pudding was to die for! EVERYTHING was delicious. I can easily see us hanging out here as a chill spot. Thank you Flatiron.

We came here for a birthday dinner where we were all in the back room. The serving staff was very nice, but it seemed like they needed one more person to be working. Our food came out a bit slowly and some of our orders were wrong (they remade it so it was correct), but once we did have our food it was amazing. The Mac and cheese seemed like the way to go- you can get it with different proteins on top and it tasted amazing. I got a grain bowl which was also very good. They had a nice selection of drinks, some of which I had never seen before which was cool. Nice location and great view of the park and sales force tower. Will go again with a smaller group to try some other things!

My husband happened to meet the bartender, julian at another bar and he told us he made the best old fashioned and invited us to this bar the next day to check it out. So towards the end of the evening my husband and I walked the ten minutes or so at 10:00 that evening since we did say we would for sure come to the bar. We are so glad we did. Your right Julian, you make a great old fashioned drink. David and I really enjoyed getting to know you and your beautiful wife. We will be back to try the food. Keep up the good work, this bar is lucky have you.

Vegetarians / vegans: look elsewhere. You've got one or two options for lunch that are your typical salad or soup, so it's not really worth the money to come here for lunch. My two options for lunch time as a vegetarian were: tofu and tomato salad (snooze) or tomato basil soup. I went with the salad as it was a summer day. It's some grilled lettuce, diced cucumbers and cherry tomatoes, and some tofu with your choice of dressing. Super a-okay, basic. Would love to visit again if they up their amount of vegetarian options, but as of now, it's just nothing to be impressed about. I do love that they kept a lot of the Elbow Room signage and paid homage to the previous restaurant. The interior and the design changes were great, but not enough for me to want to come back for more.

Small plastic fork gives size perspective of $10 steak house chop salad ... and not piled high. Should have been $4. #ReviewsByRL

I've never given just two stars before. And I'm really confused reading good reviews and looking at other gorgeous food pics, because that is not what our menu offered ... So initial impression of the place that has taken over the old Elbow Room location: Wow, it was warm inside. And I'm always cold, so if I think a place is warm, it's generally too warm. There's a nice little 4 chair seating area in the "new" lobby and we order at a counter, looking at a poorly done digital menu in on the back wall. Nothing looks too enticing, sandwiches and salads (not the great "pub" food previously from the Elbow Room). "miso broth" is listed twice in the same product description (proof read!) ... so I'm already in an "off" mindset. The previous seating room now has a couple of tables, but is mostly consumer with their prep area. It's a really weird use of space. The order taker at the counter tells us we can sit anywhere downstairs, so we go to the left side / bar side of the building. It's still the old wood, historic photos ... but with an odd assortment of mission and art deco lights. And doesn't fit with the sandwich / pastry shop stuff on the right side. Not sure what style them is supposed to be happening anywhere. We think we're in two different businesses (?) Anyway, I think the other food pics i'm seeing on Yelp are from the "Flat Iron" (left side / nicer) part of Point on Penn -- because lunch on the right side was "meh" at best. And I say that because one of the party of 4 got the buffalo wrap and chip which looked pretty decent (chips were really good; I'm guessing home made). The the other 3 of us got the steak house chopped salad. For $10, it was about the size of something I'd expect to pay $3 for a little side salad for. And my 6 little strips of "steak" -- 2 of them were dry roast beef (?), and 4 were nothing but fat and completely non edible. I have never posted a "gross" picture on yelp before -- but check out my pics of this. I put them on a side napkin. I didn't want to take it to the counter to complain; I half thought someone might come to check on us and see it and then I would mention it ...but noone came to check on us. So I left it there. The sherry vinaigrette was tasteless. The amount of blue cheese was pretty sparse. I did have some avocado and bacon bits, that were good. But the whole meal was generally a "miss." interestingly enough, as I see some other food pics here, there was a chef on the "left" (Flat Iron" side that was carrying trays of sandwiches etc upstairs (we presumed a catered lunch) ...and that all looked quite tasty. So - overall, I'm not sure what this place is supposed to be. But what I do know is there are many other restaurants out there to try, and none of the 4 of us feel the burning need to go back here. :( ... my first #NotAYum ... #ReviewByRL

After visiting Gallery 924 on Penn, I decided to head a few blocks south to check out the newest addition to neighborhood restaurants. Located in the former Elbow Room, this new business(es) maintained a lot of the interior architectural details while giving it a thorough cleaning and making it seem less crowded. They also maintained the outdoor seating that is on the Ft Wayne St side once the weather cooperates. As you enter from Pennsylvania St, the Point is on your right. The left side is a small connected building that hosts "The Flatiron" which is an evening/dinner side of the business for food and drinks. There is also a stairway that leads to the "Upper Room" which can be reserved for private parties and has the wine "cellar". (Otherwise, the space is not open.) When you head towards the order counter of the Point, there is a comfy lounge area with four stuffed chairs and a small central table. I wasn't sure if patrons could dine there or simply wait for their to go orders, or wait to be seated in the small interior dining room. The dining room consists mainly of a single row 2-top tables with bench seating on one side and a chair on the alternate. At the actual point of the restaurant, there is a larger table that has an excellent window view of downtown. The east half of the point has the order counter, then displays of "KK's" pastries, and a food prep area behind another counter where they call out your name once your food is ready so that you can pick it up. There is also an "extra" station where utensils, sugars, napkins, sauces, etc. are self help. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Service was very prompt too! But there were some things that can be improved upon. Their schedule is a bit confusing with KK's opening at 7:30, full breakfast opens at 8, then switching to lunch at 11 (until 3 on their website), and then closing that side and moving over to the Flatiron for dinner, but the website doesn't say when that side opens and for how late. They could simplify this. Do they stop serving breakfast at 11 or can you still get something from that menu? Why not open the breakfast at the same time as the pastry side to avoid confusion or making someone wait an additional half hour to get something more than a pastry? They also ran out of steak and avocado by 11 am, so the steak salad was not an option and any of their lunch items that had avocado were also off the available options. When I reviewed the overhead menu, the hostess/cashier mentioned they had fish and chips as their specialty. (Though not on the menu board or the website.) I decided to go with that as my order. Although I ordered my meal for dining in, it was put in a to go box that had three fish fillets (battered cod) and was loaded with house made, lightly salted potato chips, not traditional English chips that are thicker. My initial thought was that it was rather expensive for frozen fish and chips, but I realized as I ate that the fish was light and flaky, so much so that I wasn't sure if it was house made or commercially prepared. It was that good! And the portion was generous with enough chips left over that I ended up making use of the to go box to take the chips home. I had a pleasant overall experience and I understand that prices have to be higher to cover the rent (the building owners got too expensive for the Elbow Room to stay), but the food quality was solid and not too pricey for downtown. I think I would return and try some of their soups and/or sandwiches to get a better idea of the Chef's vision. It's nice to have options for dining in the area just a bit north of the circle. I can't believe I waited so long to visit this new downtown gem, and already I can't wait to go back. Located in the old Elbow Room building, the restaurant has been refurbished with original charm and fresh new appeal. It is family-owned by Chef Glen and Rolanda, who are so kind and friendly, humble and unassuming, and really made us feel welcome. The food was fast, fresh, delicious, beautifully presented, and reasonably priced. Off Menu Tip for Dog Lovers: We sat outside, with our two pups and a fun view of the bustling cultural trail. Chef Glen stopped by our table and offered to prepare food for our little dogs! He says they are putting together a little menu for canine visitors on the Patio and he served our furkids big portions of oats and extra lean brisket ($6/ea). They devoured it in seconds then licked each other's plates. Ask your server and I bet Chef Glen will prepare meals for your pups too! Add Point on Penn to your downtown dining rotation (you can thank me later).

EXCELLENT! Hubby and I just visited Flatiron for dinner and the food was amazing! He had bone-in ribeye, I had shrimp and grits. Not only was the food superb, but the presentation was beautiful. Service was awesome, love the old architecture of the building, so cozy and warm. We will be back!!

This is a plate from a multiple course catering event that the head chef and I made. The drip on the side was my fault.

I worked at this restaurant for a year and a few months and the owners and staff are some of the greatest people I've ever met. Their food is phenomenal and well priced. The presentation is on point and the foods encourage wellness in the body. The service is great and you can tell that the people there love what they do and where they do it. The team in the back of the house are dedicated and loyal. They are always trying to improve and do better every day. In addition to doing classical American fine dining, they have a lunch service, bar, cigar lounge, and catering. Their catering services are simply the best in all downtown. The foods that they bring forward are of unrivaled quality and deliciousness. If the traditional menu isn't enough for you, they do a heightened winetasting experience that must be scheduled ahead. In this experience, the head chef will make a multiple course dinner that will walk you through his years of experience in cuisine and wine pairing. Whatever you put into this place, you will get back in fantastic experience and love. Definitely give this place a try. Take time in getting to know the flat iron and you will love what you see.

Bread with butter, parm, fried onion

Flat Iron is heaven. It's like a home-cooked meal but 100x better and prettier. Simple ingredients elevated to perfection with no detail spared. The first time I had the opportunity to go here right when it opened, we came for drinks and were welcomed graciously by the staff with complementary chips and queso. PHENOM. And you could tell how proud the chef was to serve his food. The second time was tonight. And boy, Flat Iron did not disappoint. The waitstaff is extremely attentive and enthusiastic without being too intense and gave us some delicious recommendations. We started with the berry salad with citrus vinaigrette. It was simple but the perfect way to start the meal. I was shocked by how tasty the strawberries and blueberries were since it's February and they are not in season. Next followed the house bread served with hot butter garnished with parm and fried onion. Sinful. I will be dreaming about this every night for a week. I broke my diet for this carb. But the main course was where it was really at. The pan fried salmon with risotto couldn't be more perfect. It was veggie forward with just the right amount of fat for it to be flavorful without being greasy. And I honestly don't think I've ever had a tastier, fresher risotto. Creamy without being mushy - A+! Our sweet waitress closed our meal with a bite of the espresso torte with berries - divine! Vodka soda pours were also generous. Love this place!! Fresh food, reasonable prices, and friendly staff. This place deserves all the recognition and business it gets!

Definitely a hidden gem. I have yet to be disappointed by Chef Brown's creations. Everything fresh and home/hand made. His famous pickles and chips are delectable. Every dish presented immaculately.

This is a great lunch spot in downtown Indy! It is steps from the War Memorial and Mass Ave if you want to do some sightseeing and shopping. I was a little confused entering the building since the doors weren't clearly marked and I didn't know if I was going into Elbow Room or the Flat Iron. Whatever the case may be, I had a buffalo chicken wrap and it was incredible! The wrap was so thick and absolutely stuffed, I ended up having to take half of it home. The chips were also really great and tasty!
