We had the opportunity to stop by the LA Cafe in Whitestown, IN. The weather was great so we sat outside. The service was great from host to bar to server. I had the parmesan crusted pork loin with mashed sweet potatoes. The sweet potatoes were excellent and the pork loin tasty! Others had the sea bass, dried shrimp, and fish n chips. We ended with sharing the carrot cake. The trip would have been worth it for the carrot cake alone! If you're near Whitestown take time to stop by LA Cafe to enjoy the small town eatery. read more

This was our first time at LA Cafe and we were not impressed at all with the service here. Maybe it was just a bad day and we could try again sometime. We had a group of 3 for an early Mother's Day dinner. We started off with a peach (or orange) martini and an old fashioned. The martini was fantastic. Old fashioned tasted like water. The spinach dip we shared was good and I would recommend it. All three of us ordered steaks, all medium rare. All three steaks came out over cooked - medium well at best. And the veggies (broccoli on one plate and green beans on another) were undercooked. I was most disappointed by the level of service we received. We hardly saw our server, and she never asked us if we wanted more drinks - which we would have happily ordered more to keep chatting away the evening. We had to flag her down even to get water refills. All three of us agreed that we didn't feel very welcome that evening. This wonderful restaurant continues to delight and surprise me. It has a great selection (but not too many choices) of entrees, pastas, wines and a full bar. Had dinner with 6 friends at LA Cafe tonight up in Whitestown. Been a while since we were here. What a great place - plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I got the Parmesan Crusted Pork with 2 sides - twice baked potato and sautéed mushrooms. A generous, flavorful piece of pork - enough that I took some home for lunch tomorrow. I had a really great dinner on their patio with some girlfriends! They currently have seasonal fall cocktails so I tried the pumpkin White Russian. It was like a delicious dessert! 1st of all the parking sucks 2nd is it is very expensive for little ole Whitestown and the nice clean place is a little noisy (my wife said it's because I am old) the food had by all was very good and the service was very good. Followed up on recommendation for a local spot and it was a positive experience. Clean venue with open layout and a bar. There's an outdoor patio for warmer days. My boys were intrigued by the motorcycles and holiday decorations on display. Friendly service. The food came out hot, timely, correct, and delicious! Get Extra Bread!! It is delicious. I actually ordered a load to go and ate it at midnight. Win for me! The restaurant is clean and so are the restrooms! Huge deal if you have a toddler! Staff were incredibly nice and accommodating which is hard to find when you have younger kiddos. Now onto the thing we all care about..Food- Appetizer we ordered Potato Skins. They were good. Not the best I've had but not the worst. Ribs- My son loved his full rack of ribs, but he couldn't even start his sides because they were so delicious he ate all of them. Patty Melt- My husband really liked it! Fish & Chips- Delicious! Kids Meal- Chicken Finger with fries and a milk. Not bad. Dessert- Bread Pudding. I do not recommend this. We each ate one bite and it went in the trash. No thanks. -Crème Brulee. Delicious!!!!! My reasoning for the four stars is that I felt it was pretty pricey for what it is. I mean the only thing that I'm still craving is the bread. The kids meal was $9 and that did not include the milk. So $12 for a kids meal. Craziness if you ask me. Some friends recommended a little cafe in old Whitestown to our dinner group. The cafe had a cute flare with all of the motorcycle memorabilia and metal walls. We were a rather large party of 10, but they did a great job keeping our drinks filled and clearing dishes from the table. We ordered a buy one and get one free shrimp cocktail, which was average. The odd thing was how it was served on a long rectangular plate instead of in the normal martini glass. The bread that was served was good and the sun-dried tomato butter was a nice surprise, but very salty. The winners of the night, food-wise, were the Ribeye steak, Mushroom soup, and calamari. The ribs left a lot to be desired with no bark and weak sauce, and the Parmesan-crusted pork was not crusted in Parmesan (it was shaved on top, and a glop of butter was added too). We might consider going back for a steak, but it was a long drive for most of us. read more

First visit to LA Cafe last evening and it sure will not be the last! Far exceeded our expectations. Casual vibe inside with great food, great menu, and nice staff. Got there on the early side and we were seated right away, entrees came out without a long wait - across our table we had a Black and Blue salad with steak, a Patty Melt with fries, and the nightly specials of sirloin steaks. Can't wait to go back and try other things. We were too full last night, but desserts sounded delicious! We went for a late lunch on Valentine's Day. It is clean and comfortable with sporty decor. The staff is fantastic! Kind, friendly, attentive but not overbearing. The food was really good with big portions. Wish I had taken photos, but we dug in as soon as we got it. I had a patty melt, with the burger cooked exactly the way I requested. The crew at L A Cafe were not only ready for our 33 hungry mouths, but also was quick and accurate in taking our individual orders and efficiently delivering delicious food! Kudos to Rachel and the cooks and helpers behind the scenes. We were recharged to hike the 6 miles back with wonderful memories of the energy supplied by this great crew. We were super excited to try L A Cafe! We came to celebrate a birthday. Staff was really kind. If you order an Entree you get dinner bread served as an appetizer. It came with a sun dried tomato butter which was so delicious. For our meals, I got the Parmesan crusted pork loin. OMG it was to die for. So so flavorful, crispy, buttery, and cheesy. My husband got the strip. For a $30 strip it was pretty darn good. We both got baked potatoes and mushrooms for our sides. Potatoes were... potatoes lol. Not much to them! The mushrooms were meh honestly. They had 0 flavor. They tasted like cooking oil. But the meat of our entrees were both so good that we were able to look past it. Then we got the creme brûlée as dessert. It was really good! No birthday specials for celebrating a birthday here! Which is fine, just something to note. Overall a good place to eat in downtown Whitestown. This place have outside parking and it is causal dress. It is also a great place for kids because they have a kid menu. The food was great and delicious I enjoyed the Parmesan crusted pork lion and my wife enjoy the sea bass. This is a good place to bring your family , friends, or date night. I would prefer to sit outside at this place and rather than inside. The waiters are nice and helpful and this is a hidden gem in the Whitestown area. Hubby and I took our 2 adult grandchildren for dinner last week. We sat outside for an enjoyable evening. Excellent half price bottle of wine and the wine glasses themselves were first class. My hubby and I shared a full rack of ribs delicious. BTW I'm the rib queen and they were in my top 10 score. My husband chose LA Cafe for his birthday dinner on a Tuesday evening in May. We have never been to the restaurant to dine but have been to a wedding that was catered by them. It was a busy place for a Tuesday and fortunately we were seated right away in the bar area. It was shrimp night, so we ordered the 2 for 1 shrimp cocktail. The shrimp was good-sized, and the cocktail sauce had a slight kick to it. Delicious! We both ordered house salads as one of our sides to our entrees, and they were packed with all the fixings. So good! My husband ordered the Mango Salsa Sea Bass with wild rice, and he loved it. I had the Grilled Salmon, blackened and it was fantastic. Our server recommended the Twice Baked Potatoes as a side, and I was not disappointed. The service and the food were outstanding, and I would definitely come back. Wonderful birthday dinner at LA Cafe. What a gem in little Whitestown. Our server Blythe was awesome. She gave great recommendations, was perfectly attentive and an overall joy. We enjoyed the steaks - ribeyes and filets, cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. Great sides included the twice baked potatoes, mushrooms, broccoli and salads. Always thought this was a coffee shop but we were in the area and jumped on the Yelp app and couldn't figure out how we missed seeing this as an awesome dining spot for so long! We ordered bravely (for Indiana) the clam strips which we have had many times during our 5 years living in Boston but the ones here were better for real! Not the Gordon's oven baked crunchy chewy clam strips (but those are still good) these were so fresh so delicious and light crispy. Gotta love all that patio space. Wish Indiana weather was nicer, so one could dine outside more often. Bonus though, most of it seems to be fairly shady, so that helps. We dined inside and were in a dining room that had fine dining written all over it. Reservations were easy to make. Our table was ready and waiting for us upon arrival. The staff is very friendly and quick . No complaints there at all. Why not 5 stars you ask? The French onion soup. Well... Yes it was covered in cheese, yes it was full of bread and onions.... BUT it was very very salty AND came out extremely fast and was at best lukewarm. Leads me to believe that it wasn't freshly made, much less broiled... I am suspecting a microwave in action here... it's only a suspicion, but... I also had the small spinach salad with hot bacon dressing which was very nice. I got to taste some of my friend's shrimp cocktail which was also delicious. Nice big fat shrimp, chilled with a horsey cocktail sauce, lemon and crackers on the side. The bread and herbed butter served with the meal was absolutely the best. The bread with a nice crunchy crust, soft and warm on the inside... yes, yes, yes. I chose the pepperoni flatbread, which also had a nice little crunch to it. Taste wise it was a-ok. My guests really enjoyed their dishes and are very likely to return here in the future. While attending a conference in the area we looked for a quaint sit down restaurant with some healthy options and this spot came up on our Yelp search. I'm glad it did as it was a fun little corner restaurant with good lunch options and friendly service. The parking was full when we arrived but we could see several lots across the street which were available for use. Once we entered we were quickly seated in a small section with other sit down diners. They did have a bar area where you could go and get your food if you preferred. Our server was very friendly and helpful and the lunch menu was pretty extensive with lots of sandwiches salads and soup options. We were all quite hungry so I didn't get any pictures but we ordered a variety of salad with French onion soup, One of the Reuben sandwiches, and some of their fish tacos. Once the food arrived everyone dug in and really enjoyed everything. I could tell because all of our plates were empty in a matter of minutes! My salad had some really delicious pecans as well as an amazing house-made vinaigrette. It was the full size but you could get a half portion if you so desired. I would've liked a little bit more lettuce as I wasn't quite as full so I ordered a side dish to fill me up for the rest of the day. The prices were pretty comparable and each one of us paid around $12 for lunch. I would definitely check the spot out if you're in the area and looking for a cozy lunch spot with plenty of good options. read more

My visit to L A Cafe was quite quaint. It had been a while since I had a daddy-daughter date with my teenage daughter and I have heard good things about this place, so I figured I'd give it a shot. The service was good, the food was good, and the conversations I had with my teenage daughter were good too (after I took her phone away so she could get off the dang Tik Tok). She ended up asking a lot of questions about how shaky things have been between the wife and I. I reassured her, mentioning how the wife and I had our first couples counseling session the other week. That session was.. eventful to say the least --maybe I'll talk about it more in a future review, but it definitely was an overall positive experience. Visited LA Cafe on a busy Saturday night with a reservation. Other than parking being a huge challenge as the restaurant is located in Whitestown where no parking exists, the experience at the restaurant was nothing but flawless. Food was all prepared well. From the robs to the Prime Rib special all of our tables food came out exceeding expectations. Very casual atmosphere and comfortable setting. LA Cafe's varied menu is an excellent alternative to the chain restaurants to the south off the interstate. Well worth the slightly extra time needed to land a parking spot! read more
