We made an online reservation for Valentine's Day after our original plans fell through. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the hostess informed us that they had turned off online reservations and were fully booked since the day before, even though we had received a confirmed reservation. We were hoping to do the BBQ grill, but she kindly offered us a regular table, which we really appreciated! Our server was incredibly sweet and attentive. Even with how busy the restaurant was, our appetizers and entrees came out surprisingly fast. The pan fried dumplings were absolutely amazing. These could have easily been the best dumplings in Indy I have tried! (11/10) My husband ordered the bulgogi dupbop, which was served hot in stone bowl and was absolutely delicious. (10/10) I ordered the beef bibim bop. I was a little disappointed because the dish was served lukewarm, but the flavor of the food was great! I came here for the first time to celebrate Lunar New Year with friends! I started with the seafood pancakes! It was good! I liked the vegetables cooked into the pancakes along side the seafood! For the main course I got the rice cake soup! According to my Korean friend it's a must have New Year meal! It was delightful! The broth was light, the rice cake was chewy and delectable, and the beef was tender! I would definitely get the soup again! For dessert another friend got the cheese cake. She liked it okay. What was very good was the pot teok! The quantity seemed a bit sparse considering the price, but I was already so full that two was perfect! Service was attentive and quick. A beautiful restaurant, equally suited for date night and group outings. Easy to make reservations, and they will have your table ready. Convenient especially when you frequent restaurants with a group in tow like I do. Service is generally friendly and efficient. Not stellar, but good. I love all the food choices. I always intend to get the BBQ at the table, but then and up with something containing sweet potato noodles. I love those things. I also tremendeously enjoy all these little side dishes that come with your meals. Yummy is all I can say. It's not a 'cheap' place, but you do get your money's worth with quality ingredients here. Visited 2 years ago... Goodness is what's cooking at cafe Korea unfortunately the services doesn't deliver. Arrived at the establishment at 6:39pm on a Sunday. Wanted to scout some cool places to take the parents. Greeted by a lovely woman and seated immediately. Let's call the waiter Joe the Sloth, greater us with the same enthusiasm as the hostess after about a 10 min wait in a half capacity restaurant. Ordered coke and a water which came out 7 mins later. There was enough time to scour the extensive menu and formulate some great questions. Joe the Knowledgeable even helped pick out a nice bottle of Black Cherry Wine. And this is where Joe became the absentee. Food came out a whopping 47 mins later for one entree and about an additional 21 extra mins for the other dish. There was a larger table behind us that I guess waited longer and were supplied with so many of the 6 available sides they were "Sided-Out". Joe the unapologetic refused to refill the side dishes that we requested. Joe the "I have better things to do", never checked on us except to ask if we wanted a box. Joe the "I will not acknowledge that I never refilled the sides". Joe the "It's the Kitchens fault that your food came out weird". Joe the "let's walk off in the middle of your sentence." (I kid you not). Joe the "I want you to know how much I hate my job because I refuse to do my job." Couldn't even remember how good the food was because the service was so bad. This goes out to Joe who soured my experience and made my Sunday feel like thee worst Pre-Monday. read more

We visited this restaurant for the first time and ordered combo bbq. Very pleased with the quality and the quantity of the meat. Not only are their utensils spotless, but they also offer metal chopsticks not cheap disposables. The waiter provided additional sauces, lettuce, and plates for our young children. I had an odd experience! I came in to have dinner with 3-friends. 2 of us arrived first and were seated immediately at a 4-top table directly in front of the door - everyone would see us. I went to the bathroom while waiting for 2 others to join us and when I came back we had been moved to a larger table hidden away behind a wall. The reason given by the host is that "it was too cramped," and did not listen to the protest that we were fine there. Not 5 minutes later, they sat another table at the previous spot who also had multiple strollers, actually making it cramped - they would have been better seated at the 6-top that we were forced to move to. As we were the only black people in the building, we did wonder if there were racist motives behind the forced move. We want to give the benefit of the doubt but no other reason makes sense to us. Our server was very nice, though, and checked on us constantly. He made sure that a vegetarian accommodation was made for me. The grill items are somewhat overpriced for what my friends received - 4 slices of pork belly for $30+ and the bulgogi was quite thin and also 30+. We did order the vegetarian fried dumplings and but were served pork dumplings, so that was disappointing. The fried seaweed rolls were delicious, though. At the end of our meal, we were served complimentary grapes which was nice. There was a mix up with the bill but it worked out fine. I am not sure that I would go back just due to the discomfort that our experience caused. Food wise, though, it was all very good and satisfied our cravings. read more

We always have their BiBim Bop which is excellent but it seems like their prices jumped $10 or more overnight. They look to be marketing themselves as a high-end white tablecloth restaurant They used to feel like a family restaurant but there's no way I'm paying $25 for chicken teriyaki. They've seemed to, like many other restaurants, taken advantage of the inflation because everyone knows they're going to have to pay more, but they don't know if that increment reflects the cost increase for the restaurant. So the restaurant tries to get away with passing the increased cost to the consumer but then shuffles in a handsome pay raise for themselves in there too. And that's exactly seems to be what's happening here. read more

I cannot say enough good things about cafe korea! Everything is top notch. From the service, to the salad dressing to the sides. We used to frequent Bando on the east side, but due to new ownership there, things have changed. We tried cafe korea for a switch up and we will always return there now!! You don't get as many side dishes, but they're extremely flavorful and that sweet deep fried tofu is crave-worthy!! That is the only time I ever had tofu lol! I am picky about Korean cuisine- and this place is a solid 4! I think it's a good thing they opened in this area- we don't have enough Korean restaurants here. Service was friendly and quick, and I like that little button who can push for service. Reminds me of restaurants in Japan. Maybe it's a common thing in Asia. I had bulgogi and loved it. I also loved all the little dishes that came with the meals. The only star missing is pricing. Comparing three other Korean restaurants in Indy area, theirs are definitely a few dollars more per item. But there is no wow factor to add value to it tbh.... My fiancé and I have heard lots a great things about Cafe Korea. We have been loving trying different Korean restaurants in the area so we were very excited. They do have kbbq available but were completely booked when we came in on a Saturday night. Would highly suggest reservations if you want kbbq. The interior is very spacious and we were seated in the regular dinner section without a wait. For appetizers, we got the ttekbokki with fish cakes. We opted for a mild version. Because we got the mild, the ttekbokki was cooked in a sweet and savory soy mirin sauce. It was such a unique dish since I usually see ttekbokki in a gochujang sauce. I loved how the rice cakes were a bit longer and the sauce was delicious. The fish cakes were also very good and had a nice sweetness to them. We weren't expecting to like this dish as much as we did and are certainly glad we ordered it. If you've tried the traditional spicy version and are looking for something different, would highly recommend trying this version. I ordered the cod stew for my entree and my fiancée got the shredded beef. Each entree can be made mild, medium, or spicy. They all come with a house salad, white rice, and 6 side dishes (banchans). The side salad was a nice starter and the dressing was very unique. It tasted like it had some mayo, soy, and sesame oil. Very nice! I was very impressed with my fish stew which had generous amounts of cod, daikon, enoki mushrooms, and zucchini. It was cooked in a clean but nicely seasoned broth. I loved the addition of all the vegetables. One notable point is that the cod had bones in it, which I don't mind and actually prefer because it gives more flavor, but I could see that being a turn off for some people. My fiancé got the shredded beef which he very much enjoyed. I tried the broth and thought it was delicious and had a nice beefy flavor. There were 6 unique banchans. My favorite was the daikon kimchi. The cucumber kimchi was also nice but a little sweet for my liking. The fried tofu was also very good! Service was also very great. It was pretty busy when we were there, but the waiter was very attentive and always asked if we wanted more refills on the banchans/if we needed anything else. At the end of our meal, we were served complimentary grapes as a little dessert! Such a small but nice way to end off a great meal. Prices were a tad more expensive than other Korean restaurants but in my opinion, the quality of the ingredients and the great service justifies higher prices. We felt extremely well taken care of during our dining experience. We left feeling full and happy! Would definitely recommend anyone looking for delicious Korean food to check out cafe Korea. I liked the food and drinks, and was about to order another drink when the server brought us our check and complimentary desserts (grapes). As you can see in the picture, at this point we were only about halfway through our bbq and it was a little less than an hour since we were seated... I found this quite rude... did they want to kick us out...? I'm guessing not since when once we finished our meal and placed our credit cards, it still took quite some time for them to notice... We visited right when they opened! I do agree with the reviews that it's a bit pricey. Soju is $18 but you can go to the store and get a bottle for $8. Im used to AYCE for about $35pp so maybe that's why I think $30+ for each item of meat is expensive. The side dishes were good, but surprised that they don't include the kimchi with it. You can ask for it but if someone isn't familiar with Korea food, then they wouldn't know to ask. The food came with a soy sauce dipping sauce, but I asked for other dipping sauces and was able to get the salt with sesame oil which went well with the chadol baegi. We also weren't given tongs to cook with and I asked for those as well. The food and service is good! I enjoy having KBBQ in general, but with the prices being a bit high for what you get, I'll probably go on special occasions rather than frequenting. read more

Cafe Korea was a wonderful experience with my foodie group. This Korean restaurant in Fishers brings an eclectic ambiance to the customer, and provides a relaxed setting as well. The customer service is excellent and you feel like you are at home. The menu has starters and dinner entrées in Korean, so I am not able to tell you exactly what I had tonight, but I can say I had the dumplings as a starter, which were fantastic. My dinner entrée was a pho bowl with chicken served in a hot stone bowl and crispy rice on the bottom. It was very fresh and delicious!! I ordered the honey citrus ginger tea for my beverage, and it was very refreshing! Everything was wonderful at Cafe Korea, and would come back here again for dinner in a heartbeat. read more

Didn't feel like cooking so we just went to the dining area. (they have the cooking table option) Started with wings and dumplings. The wings was very well marinated that it was really enjoyable. The dumplings was just ok and mediocre. Now the best part is the gal bi (rib eye thin sliced). Man, this was so good and the serving was actually big so you could enjoy this meal longer. Our group had a really good experience here. The place is clean, ambience is on point, and service was amazing. I've had Korean BBQ before, but I still feel like a newbie. Everything here was easy to understand and order. Our group got two small combos for 4 ppl, this may have been too much but we still cleared it all out! This was my first time at a Korean restaurant like this where you could cook on the table, but I came with family members who were familiar with the process and have been to many here and in other countries. I was impressed with the restaurant. We order steak and chicken meals. They brought us plates full of the meat, then we cooked it ourself on the grill in the middle of the table. It was a pretty easy and fun process. I liked the beef more than the chicken, but they were both good. With the meat, you got unlimited of the sides. I mainly had the potatoes, but everyone at our table enjoyed the sides. Overall, I thought it was a little pricey for the meat you recorded, but it was also a little more for the experience. Café Korea is one of my favorite places to eat Korean barbecue. If you're wondering what I get, it's usually the open grill barbecue and the number to Galbi marinated beef short ribs. (Over the LA style, the boneless, or the unseasoned.) Unfortunately, they recently took off the Ox Knee soup (the only one in the city and one of my favorite dishes of all time), so they no longer get five stars. Also, no really good beef intestine soup options unfortunately. PS. Beautiful restaurant! Clean, open, everything looked brand new. We went here for my birthday dinner and the food was really good. The portions were very generous! The meats were seasoned perfectly. The grill ran a little cool, we had to turn it up a bit, but then again we like our meats seared and more on the well-done side. I don't know if you're familiar with Korean presentation but each entree gets like 5 or 6 sides with it and they're shared for the table but guess what they're free refills! The kimchi was a little mild for my taste but then again, we like things pretty spicy so the milder taste is perfect for newcomers or people with a less spice prone palate. The service was wonderful.
