First of all the food was delicious, the service was very good and the atmosphere was very nice. So why not 5 stars? Why? Well we knew there was a 90 minute seating. This is explained on the website and I believe when I made a reservation online. With about 10 minutes yet to go on our 90 minutes, a person whom i assume was the manager came to our table to remind us. This was okay although it could have been worded differently. We were just paying the bill that had just arrived when she came back again stating she had a reservation waiting and she needed us to basically leave. We did not see anyone waiting either at the hostess stand or outside but rules are rules. Again it could have been worded differently and perhaps it could have been suggested we could finish at the bar (perhaps those are also reserved though) or to one of the empty tables outside. If you want excellent food and great service and you can be finished in 90 minutes I would recommend Bodhi. I also understand turning tables. Just know the timeframe does not allow for dessert (or an appetizer as we did) unless you hurry and you had best be watching the clock or the manager will make it clear you need to leave. read more

Establishments like BODHI highlight the true meaning of cuisine bridging together love and community - uniting people, sharing Thai cultural traditions and deepening human connections around a shared table whether in the dining room, the bar or their picture-esque patio! Jake was absolutely incredible. From our service to our desert we were left with full hearts (and of course tummies) for the duration of our trek home to Nashville. We of course had to order some cocktails, we ordered our birthstones or on their menu their collection from Gems of Siam "Black Star Sapphire" and "Ruby" The Ruby ended up being the star of the show! The most unique drink we both have tried! We have never experienced something quite like that! From the ruby chocolate swoosh with a boozy tropical gel to the coconut milk punch adding depth to the Song Cai Dry Gin I was left in awe. (Recommend a sip and then a bite of the chocolate to enhance the flavor profile) Our meals were created with such love. It was truly art. Played beautifully and tasted phenomenal. The noodles were light, fluffy, amazing. The Crab Puffs were incredibly light and delicate which gave me a new appreciation for them! I felt like I could devour them without feeling too full or guilty to finish my meal. The curry was spectacular. The spices, the aroma, the flavor profile everything was perfect. No notes. It's delicious. Each bite you understand why BODHI is a staple in the community. You taste their desire to make you happy. To fall in love again. Onto dessert! Salamat Cookies has always held a special place in my heart the moment I discovered them two years ago! As a Nashville resident, I have had their treats delivered to my door. To come to BODHI and to my surprise see Salamat on the menu could've have been a greater cherry on top. We ordered the Ube and Pandan blondies. The experience was put over the edge by the addition of a strawberry cold foam addition to the desserts. Even though we took our deserts to go they were packaged with care. Why will BODHI forever hold a special place in my heart and will always receive a visit or recommendation from me to anyone visiting, driving through or living in Indy? Simple. Love. Each bite you can taste the love that was put in. Every interaction from the staff from dining room, patio, to front of the house you feel the love. Every laugh, every clink of the glass you hear the love! BODHI was built on a strong foundation of love. This is a terrific Thai restaurant in the Mass Ave. District of downtown Indy. Judging by its popularity on the Monday night we visited, I'd say that's no secret to the locals. Business was quite brisk and the quality of the fare made it evident why that was. Parking is a little tricky but not too bad to navigate. There is some street parking but one of the pay surface lots or garages is probably the best bet. We spent $8.26 for two hours ($7 + fee) to park in the lot in front of the Bottleworks. It was a 3-minute walk. We were seated right away when we walked in. We were perhaps a little fortunate as I think next time I'd make a reservation. The one thing that was off-putting was the fact that they put a time limit on our meal. I thought I heard 90 minutes and my colleague thought 2 hours. We were not planning to be there any longer than that, but we all three thought that to be a negative. I understand why they do that, but they should re-think their approach to that policy. We chose to sit outside as it was a very nice evening. Their patio was nicely arranged and was a rather pleasant spot for a meal. Our server, Apple, did a good job taking care of us. The menu featured some excellent Thai and Southeast Asian choices. We started with the Spring Rolls which were wonderfully crispy and tasted very good. My colleagues had the Steak Drunken Noodles and the Chili Basil Pork and both returned good reports. I had the Penang Curry Chicken and was extremely happy with that. The spice level was perfect and it was quite tasty. Our final bill with food, drink, tax and tip was $101. At just under $34 per person, we were quite happy with the value. We were first in after all the reservations and we got the last two seats inside and sat at the bar The service was great, taken care of by the bartender. In town on family business, for a couple of days, I was looking for someplace interesting for dinner on a Wednesday evening. It had been before the pandemic since my last time in Indianapolis and much has changed on the city's dining and drinking landscape. Following a recommendation from a bartender at Sundry & Vice, I made my way to BODHI. I didn't have reservations, which I'd strongly recommend, since the place was packed on Wednesday night before 6PM. Fortunately, I was able to snag a seat at the bar, which was ideal since I was dining solo. Upon scanning the hip, high-energy, yet petite dining room, I had a sense of deja vu about it before realizing that I had been in this space before back when it was Black Market. I started off with a cocktail from Bodhi's intriguing and expansive drink list, a 7 Realms of Happiness, made with Old Hamer Bourbon, Faccia Brutto Centerbe, Cappelletti amaro, saffron honey, and lemon. My thought was that it's their twist on a classic Whiskey Smash. It was bittersweet, yet balanced, and simply a delight. As for the food, BODHI's menu is concise hitting the most of the Thai food usual suspects. I had the Papaya Salad and the Shrimp Green Curry. The papaya salad came out first. I was pleasantly surprised by its plating, looking much more like an elaborate entree with its cashews, watermelon radish, and chicharrones than the humble side salad atop a leaf of lettuce or cabbage that I've usually received at virtually every Thai restaurant I've ever been. It was just a pretty plate as it tasted even better than it looked. It was fresh and flavorful as those flavors popped from the perfect balance of salty, sweet, sour, spicy, and funky. It was the best rendition of a papaya salad that I've tasted. My bowl of curry was no less successful in balancing those diverse Thai flavor profiles. Unlike some/many other curries I've had where it seems like a bowl full of sauce with bits and pieces of protein or vegetables, Bodhi's rendition achieved the perfect "solids to sauce" ratio. The shrimp were cooked to perfection and the curry itself was bold and bright on my tongue. It was a delicious spoonful. I loved it! For "dessert", I had a second cocktail, the Garnet, a booze-forward whisky drink made with Mars Iwai Tradition, Pinhook Rye, Akashi Ume Plum whisky, Veda Mushroom Liqueur, Balsamic Vermouth, celery & orange bitters, and topped with a Moon Smoke Bubble. It was very unique, tasty and satisfying, if not a bit difficult to describe. I would maybe compare it to an Asian-influenced Vieux Carre and I thought it was excellent. Service from Carli, the bartender, was stellar throughout my night as she was friendly, helpful and exceedingly outstanding in making my drinks. A definite rock star! BODHI was outstanding. I'm not sure how to best describe the place. Was it as an amazing Thai restaurant that also does incredible cocktails or an amazing cocktail bar that also does killer Thai food? Regardless, I could not have enjoyed my experience more. If/when I'm back in Indy, BODHI is at the top of my list for a visit! read more

Ummmm of all the times I e been in Indy, why have I never been here. You need a reservation, and must show proof of being 21 and older to enter. Please note: if you use Open Table that is not the correct restaurant, so avoid that mistake. My friends and I sat on the patio and we ordered shrimp cocktail and fried tofu. Holy yum. I can't remember our drinks but they were absolutely delicious. For dinner my friends had pad Thai and I had the lemongrass soup with shrimp. All were amazing. The best part - our server was James. As for the entree I ordered the vegetable fried rice and substituted their amazing tofu, cooked perfectly the fresh veggies and rice complimented the fresh cut cucumbers and fried tofu very well. The restaurant only offers dinner and doesn't open until 5 PM. My friend made reservations a week in advance for Sunday right at opening. They have the option to come in stand by so you can take your chances if you don't make reservations, but they do seat reservations first. The last time I visited, they didn't take reservations, so it's nice that they offer them now. Just a heads-up: they do require a card on file, and if not everyone in your party shows up, there's a $25 per person charge. I arrived around 4:30 PM and noticed there's a small parking lot in front of the building, along with metered street parking. The lot looked full at first, but I lucked up and grabbed a spot right in-front of the building. Since it was Sunday, parking was free, definitely a bonus, otherwise the parking spaces in the lot are metered. It was a beautiful day, and it looked like the outdoor seating was open. The last time I came, it was too cold, so that area wasn't available, nice to see the difference. The interior is very small, so having the outside open can accommodate for more guests. Our server, Kristy, was friendly and welcoming. They have a unique cocktail menu. I tried the 7 Realms of Happiness, a bourbon-based cocktail. It was smooth, easy to drink, and not too strong, pretty good, but on the expensive side for $20. The food menu has some tasty choices. The apps we shared were the crab puffs and the spring rolls, I love these, so good. I was stuck between a stir fry or noodles. I decided on the Chili & Basil with steak (spice level: 2 peppers) and glad I did. It had a nice kick, definitely on the spicier side, but the flavor was so good, it was delicious! The portion was generous, and I even had leftovers. There was a $5 upcharge for the steak, which felt pricey, but I loved it. To start off the parking is a bit space right by the restaurant so prepare to park on the street or by the garage food hall just around the corner. BODHI has a very cool vibe as well, we sat on the back patio which had plenty of greenery and decorations, it was absolutely stunning! The food at bodhi is some of the best Thai food I have had in all of Indianapolis. The drunken noodles were tender and delicious as well as the chicken was super flavorful . My girlfriend got one of the curry's and she loved it as well. We also ordered the crab puffs which were perfectly crispy, sweet and had just the right a mound of crab flavor. Believe the hype. Bodhi is amazing. Even more amazing is that they just recently started accepting reservations, which changed everything for me. You see, you used to have to line up and wait in order to get a table. I ain't got time for all that, so I put Bodhi at the bottom of my must-visit restaurant list. But! Now you can make a reservation, and everything is seamless. We even arrived about 15 minutes before our reservation, and they were able to seat us right away. Keep in mind: Bodhi is 21+ only. No pesky kids! I ordered the spring rolls, which are five crispy, perfect rolls filled with vermicelli and vegetables, and served with a sweet plum sauce. These are addicting! And this appetizer came out very quickly, which was nice because I was very hungry. My go-to at a Thai joint is usually pad Thai. I know! I'm so basic. But I decided that at a supremely excellent restaurant, I needed to expand myself a little, so I got the Braised Chicken Yellow Curry. The server told me it was his favorite, and I can see why. It was the best curry I've ever eaten, with fall-off-the-bone chicken thighs, carrots, potatoes and onion swimming in that golden curry. Jasmine rice comes in a separate bowl, and I spooned the curry over the rice and ate delicious bites of curry and chicken-studded rice. It was a perfect, comforting bowl of Thai goodness. The pad Thai was also ordered (because we had to taste it), and it was so good, and the portion is huge. You can choose your spice level, and medium is just hot enough. Bodhi is known for their cocktails. I'm not really a big cocktail person (I like my red wine), but again, I felt like I needed to change things up a bit. So I asked the server what kind of cocktail I should order if I like gin. He suggested the Herb & Leaf, which is a tarragon and curry-infused gin with Cocchi Americano white wine and vermouth. He warned me that is was very herbaceous and bitter, and it was, and I loved it. I don't like sweet alcoholic drinks, which is why I stay away from most cocktails, but the Herb & Leaf is perfect for those of us who like green, bitter drinks. Bodhi was insanely busy for a weeknight, so definitely make reservations, if you can. But they do still take walk-ins, so if you're feeling lucky, you might get a table. read more

Now that they take reservations, we figured a new year's dinner was the way to go! The restaurant decor was beautiful - low, warm lighting and moody art, cozy dining area with the fancy cocktail bar vibe. I started off with a Fruit and Fire, which was a little spicy (hot) but I really liked it. My wife had the NA Yen and she really liked it. For starters, we had the crab puffs and papaya salad. The crab Puffs were good but the papaya salad was shockingly delicious. It was very well balanced, fresh, and just so good. For the mains, my wife had the steak Drunken Noodles and our waiter recommended the Chili & Basil Pork (heat level 3). The Drunken Noodles was really good but my dish was definitely the star of the show. The heat level and flavors were just a masterpiece. I cannot wait to go back for more! WOW! who would have known that one of the best thai spots would be in Indianapolis! Everything here was AMAZING! There was an hour wait, but it was well worth it. The vibes inside were great. I also want to mention that the presentation of all the food was gorgeous!! To start, we tried the spiked Thai tea. It was awesome! I've never had a spiked Thai tea before, and this blew me out of the water. You couldn't even tell that it was spiked, which is a dangerous mix LOL, but I loved that it came with the banana spring roll (like turon almost). So much hype--had to finally see what all the fuss is about. It was a Sunday evening so we managed to walk in and snag a tiny table without a wait. The decor and ambiance is terrific. The bar is beautiful to look at. Really nice lighting and fun details & fixtures. We knew what we wanted right away and ordered almost immediately after we were seated. The food is great although not sure the pad Thai is worth $25 but nonetheless came out super fast. I love that this place is women owned and operated but not sure if any of those women were there tonight. Appreciate that it's 21+ only. A bit off putting that "audio surveillance is in use." Our server was attentive and so were the rest of the staff. So fast in fact, it felt like they were rushing us somewhat to finish up and get out of there as quickly as possible. Random moody people kept coming around to clear dishes every step of the way. It's not like this is fine dining where someone comes around to scrape crumbs off the table and give you a new crisp cloth napkin. It's more of a trying too hard/hipster vibe. While it's nice to have things cleared quickly, we didn't order a ton of food. We were there two hours before closing and decisive with our order. It really felt more like we were being rushed. This prompted me to look up the hours they're open. I was surprised they were only open from 5pm-9pm. I've worked in bars and restaurants in major metropolitan cities so I understand being exhausted and in a hurry to get home but there's no way anyone was working a double there today. My biggest pet peeve is when a table is being sprayed down next to me and I can taste the chemicals. No one wants to spend good money on food and drinks only to ingest the stuff they use to wipe down the tables. Is it really so difficult to spray into the cloth instead of like 4-5 pumps directly on the table when people are sitting two feet away? The takeaway is the food and drinks are good but I would probably go to Thaitanium for Thai on Mass Ave down the street for dinner next time and maybe just a drink at Bodhi. The menu is more limited than many traditional Thai restaurants I've been to. It was a tight squeeze in there for seating and we got the feeling the staff was just ready to go home. Tonight, I overheard our server explaining how the salads and curries are made fresh daily by the family that owns Bodhi. This was while I was eating my favorite glass noodles with shrimp. My husband had the chili basil and pork stir fry. We went ahead and ordered the papaya salad, mild, with the anchovy funk. I was a little nervous about the anchovy funk but I couldn't taste anything fishy. Giving 5 stars to this place is a wake up call that the other 5 stars I've been awarding did not deserve it! The food here was phenomenal! We didn't have a reservation, but showed up at 7 pm on a Friday night. The waitlist said 90-110 minutes, so we went across the street and had a drink. We checked back after about 40 minutes and they were able tog eat us in. They had not notified us and it seemed that we got in just because we checked back and asked nicely... they moved some things around to make it happen, much appreciated! You must try the coconut chicken soup! So bright, limey and flavorful, and great to share. We also had the steak salad which was delicious but quite spicy- and I like spice! We finished with the massaman curry which was also unique and tasty. Our server was so helpful, upbeat and helped us decide what to order. Wish I could remember his name to give him a shout out. Can't believe I'm just now reviewing Bodhi, because this is easily one of my favorite Thai spots. Every visit is consistently excellent. My husband and I lucked out with a Thursday evening walk-in and only waited about 15 minutes -- a rare win here -- which made it even better since we were celebrating that night. Once seated, we had an incredible server who nailed every recommendation. I was in the mood to branch out, so I went with the Françoise & Étienne cocktail and the chili basil pork for my main. The drink was exactly my vibe -- sweet, balanced, and sophisticated. We started with spring rolls and crab puffs, which came out quickly and were the perfect way to kick things off. The chili basil pork was packed with flavor and absolutely delicious. My husband stuck with his go-to drunken noodles, which never disappoint. We ended the night with dessert -- ube and pandan brownies topped with yuzu whipped cream -- and yes, it was just as good as it sounds. This place came with sure high hopes I was intrigued. No reservations to be had and they don't offer delivery which is a big miss. However, you can pick up which is what I did. Unfortunately my uber driving went to the wrong hotel and so by the time I got to the restaurant my food had been done for 10-15 mins. Then I stood in the check in line for another 10+mins to simply pick up food. That is a huge miss on the restaurants part. Once back to hotel I opened the goods. I ordered more food than necessary but decided to try enough to make it worth while The crab puffs were delicious. The sauce was some of the best I have had The papaya salad was good. Spice level medium. Interesting combination with the pork rinds on top. The pad Thai came with high hopes. I would say it was simply ok. Certainly not the best I have had and probably try something else next time. All in all a good Thai place and worth giving it a shot if u can get a reservation. The food was incredible. The service was great and the drinks were amazing. This is a 21+ restaurant. If you don't have a reservation, come right at opening or be okay with an hour wait. Sat inside and the ambiance was lovely but I think most come to sit on the patio. Parking is limited, would recommend ubering so you can try the mixed shots! read more

In town for work so friend and I tried Bodhi. Definitely feels like a vide kinda of restaurant for local. Our server was very friendly, all the staff was actually. Food was good and full of flavor. The wings were excellent! The steak salad I found to pretty damn good as well. Chili basil pork for sure was pretty on point. The edamame.In it was a strange addition. They didn't have any Thai chilis in fish sauce but they did have a house made hot sauce that had lots of flavor. Overall great meal just not super authentic Thai, just a tad bougie. If I lived here I would be back for sure. read more

I'm a certified Pad Thai lover, and Bodhi is truly one of my favorites. In fact, I get a little disappointed when I order Pad Thai anywhere else after having theirs, it's that good. As a spice lover, I appreciate that they don't hold back when you ask for extra spicy. Their espresso martini is also a hit. Yes, I've had to wait to be seated before, but it's always worth it. And I love that they're trying out reservations now. I'll probably be making one soon. read more

I can't wait to go back to Indianapolis just to dine at Bodhi! After two years of trying to make it in, I finally got the chance and it was *so* worth the wait. This was hands down the best meal I've had in Indianapolis. The service, the ambiance, the drinks, everything was a 10/10/10 across the board (Beyonce voice) The spring rolls were the crispiest and most flavorful I've ever had. The Panang curry was perfectly spiced with just the right touch of sweetness. And the glass noodles with shrimp? I'm still dreaming about them. The flavor was truly unmatched. The chili-basil rice with pork was deeeelicious. A bit spicy, but nothing I couldn't handle. Next time I'd ask for that to be mild. Portions were generous and exceeded my expectations. Every dish could easily be shared, or if you're dining solo, you'll definitely leave with leftovers. Everyone mentions the wait, but honestly, it wasn't bad. I was quoted 35 minutes, and it ended up being exactly 35 minutes and absolutely worth every minute. If you're in the Indy area and looking for an incredible meal, make Bodhi your stop.
