Brussels & Kale Salad Dinner- very tasty- would have loved even more apple
    Rebecca S.

I had another great meal at the Consulate on the UWS with my mom. We dined on a weekend evening- I have usually only been here on weekends earlier in the day or weeknights and we did find the noise level inside to be too loud- this can easilu be rectified next time by requesting a quieter table by the windows. I did find the service on paat visits to also be better, but other staff members and the manager did notice when we had been waiting a while with empty plates and then were waiting to order dessert and pay the bill and they took care of us. I will chalk this up to it being a busy weekend as past visits here have featured exceptional service Brussels & Kale Salad Dinner- very tasty- would have loved even more apple $23 Chef's complimentary Amuse Bouche salmon tartare- really stole the show- we would order this next time! My mom doesn't usually go for raw fish and loved it! $0 Short Rib Cavatelli Dinner- my favorite item- so delicious and sheep cheese on top $37 I dream about this dish! The week before I dined at The Smith by Lincoln Square and ordered their short rib pasta- it was SUCH a let down- NO short rib and barely any sauce, similar price to The Consulate, so my mom and I joked that tonight's was a bowl of "redemption short rib" Wild Mushrooms Truffle Flatbread - $24 Madw with goat cheese- my mom and dad's favorite menu item- mom loved it Sticky toffee cake - $15 This was a dessert special and had dates in it, was divine! Receipt for dinner for 2 - before inKind promos - 2 apps, 1 entree, 1 dessert $107.79 post tax, pre-tip . Total post inkind post 22% tip: $91.46 I appreciate that the consulate is on the InKind app and I can use my earned cashback as well as promo offers. Using inkind to pay, I was able to get $25 off the bill and earn 20% cashback for future trips

Came here with my coworkers and really enjoyed it! It's intimate vibes and very dark inside. Good: - The food was all so high quality - despite being more pricey - The lamb tartar was very fresh and the bread it came with was also very tasty and toasty - The beef pasta dish was very good, the texture was good and the flavoring was just right too - The ceviche was fresh and very palette cleansing Bad: - The table was a bit small for four people - Portion sizes are pretty tiny for the price - Food took a while to get here but the staff were still nice Overall a really great fancy spot to go with friends for a more intimate dinner setting!

Hugely impressed with our experience at The Consulate. Really charming French restaurant on the Upper West Side! We ordered a variety of items to split, and loved all of them. My favorite was the mushroom flatbread and the sliders, but really tough call. Everything was truly great! The ambiance was lovely as well, would for sure return.

Came here for happy hour on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon and it was absolutely spectacular. They have a nice outdoor seating area. The restaurant was pretty empty and quiet around 4pm. The weather was perfect, they had all of the doors & windows open providing the perfect indoor/outdoor type of vibe. We got the Wild Mushroom Pinza bread ($16), it was a perfect snack for two people to share. We also tried the "Oui Mademoiselle" cocktail ($14 each), it was tiny but very tasty, the blackberry purée was prominent so maybe try something else if you're not a blackberry fan. After that, we ordered dirty vodka martinis - they were made to perfection. Overall wonderful atmosphere and a solid happy hour, would definitely come back here!!

Always a good time stopping in, alone or with a bigger party. Dishes are delicious, drinks well made, service timely and attentive. I keep going back for those reasons!

I had an amazing brunch here with a friend during snowfall this weekend and it was such a comforting stop for us with great vibes. The brunch menu is amazing, we opted for avocado toast which came with perfectly runny eggs, an impressive and fresh Niçoise salad and a Burrata Salad with truffles. Everyone was so warm and welcoming, making it an overall amazing experience.

Cool and inviting. Food: Absolutely outstanding. Every dish we tried was exceptional. Service: Good, though there's room to improve. Staff was friendly, but not always as attentive as you'd expect for a busy Tuesday dinner. Missed Items: Unfortunately, they forgot to bring the barada corn salad I was really hoping for--but everything else made up for it.

Yes....yes...and yesss..of course I'm not a fan of French cuisine. Just never been my thing, However it's in my neighborhood and I was pulled in by the decor. A beautiful sunny afternoon and inside just screams lavish but opulent. It wasn't pompous, but so inviting. Definitely welcoming ..now the menu was their brunch menu ..prices were affordable with a an array of options ..of course I went with the escargot...(first time) ..impressed ..NOW WHAT REALLY HAD ME ; was their drinks ....EXCELLENT! The prices and the service ...I must come back and give it another go ..come with a friend or a good date night ..it's fly

Bb is an amazing waiter and was super friendly to my puppy . She brought him water and played with him. The dirty martini was so amazing and truffle fries and oysters were amazing . Great customer service .

Our party of three had a decent meal at The Consulate on a recent Monday night... The place itself has a really cool vibe... It's French Brasserie meets Modern American Steakhouse vibes and It's perfect for a business meal. We shared a nice bottle of red wine and a dozen oysters, a Crab Cake, Filet, Steak Frites, Brussels Sprouts and a Caesar Salad amongst the three of us. While it was all fine, none of the food blew me away. The service was good but not overly attentive. Given the fact that there are so many incredible dining options in NYC, I probably would not return.

Had a nice happy hour experience here! I wasn't able to drink this visit so I asked the bartender for a mocktail with many restraints and he HIT IT OUT OF THE BALLPARK! He was also very kind and attentive. We had some light snacks and I was very pleased with the food quality. The restaurant itself is very pretty! Upscale but inviting. Will certainly be back!

Came here for dinner and the food was very good. The French fries are crispy and delicious. The pasta was rich and extremely tasty. The dining experience was odd. The waiters are very gung-ho to clear the table and remove any glassware. It's odd and makes the dinner feel very rushed.

Went to the consulate for brunch. We really enjoyed the food, everything looked and tasted fantastic. The restaurant itself was spacious for a NYC restaurant and not too busy. Would go back again

How could I not love a place with the name, Scarlet Lounge?…read more It takes a lot to get me to venture to this part of town and I honestly cannot remember the last time I had a night out on the Upper West Side, but Scarlet has been on my list since I saw owner, Michael Imperioli's announcing the opening on Instagram. I found myself in the area on recent Friday evening and decided to meet up with two friends here. I was smitten at first sight of the beautifully-appointed room, with seductive red drapery and gold accents. All I wanted to do was curl up on one of the velvet chairs and spend my entire evening captivated by imagined past lives of this space... Dorothy Parker holding court here with her Vicious Circle, sipping on Gibsons and martinis. You're going to have a glorious time. We were welcomed by a dashing gentleman at the door who kindly found us seating in the sultry little nook by the piano. Our server never left us wanting for anything and believe me, we wanted it all. Cocktail names are well-priced, especially for Manhattan. I kept to a decent bubbly and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of my time here.

ONE BARTENDER FOR THE ENTIRE BAR -- READ BEFORE YOU GO:…read more I've never felt more gaslit by positive reviews in my life. The people calling this place "amazing" are either Sopranos fans, personally connected to management, or grading on an unbelievably generous curve. I have absolutely nothing to gain from distorting my experience. And judging by reviews like Benny R's below, I'm clearly not the only one saying this: if you go to The Scarlet, expect to wait forever, get ignored, and leave frustrated. And the worst part? It's not even a one-off bad night. I've been to The Scarlet multiple times, and every single visit has been the exact same mess: one bartender trying to run the entire place alone while customers sit around waiting endlessly for service. Last night (May 20), there were around 20-25 people in the bar between the tables and bar seats, and a single bartender was expected to do everything: make drinks, take orders, deliver cocktails to tables, clear space at the bar, all of it. Unsurprisingly, service moved at a glacial pace. My date and I were seated when we arrived and after waiting 30 minutes without anyone coming over, I finally had to walk up to the bar and order my own drink. It was deeply uncomfortable and unprofessional. Management charging $25 per cocktail while refusing to properly staff the place is ridiculous. If you're going to price drinks like a luxury lounge, at least operate like one. MEMO TO MANAGEMENT - stop being cheap and hire another bartender. Your customers are paying enough to deserve basic service.

Paper plates, plastic cutlery and pita chips warmed and served in the bags they came in. 2. Service - non-existent. No staff members acknowledge your arrival. You either have to wave madly or go to the bar and ask for a drink. The staff is always closing early with the staff excuse that "we are not busy" yet guests are routinely turned away. The staff is not happy and begrudge being there. DO NOT believe in the hours posted on the website. There is a built-in clientele but the staff can't wait to close it down. I don't know what is wrong with management but they have lost the plot. 3. Ambience - The space could be so much better than it is. The lighting is okay but the seating in the bar area is not appropriate. The adjoining cafe has a better feeling. Ambience has a lot to do with making guests feel welcome - this staff doesn't understand the meaning of hospitality but they should not be blamed. It is clear they have no training and are not held to any standard. If you want to go to a great space, go to the Wallace Hotel around the corner (I am NOT affiliated with them... have just gone there many times). It is so sad to see a place with such potential be so poorly run, especially as they have such little competition. The Arthouse Bar has the potential to be THE leading cocktail/music/late-night bar on the Upper West Side.

Usually that would mean that service is faster as the staff are walking out of the kitchen, but the service here was unbearably slow. We had to crane our heads to get our orders taken, to find someone to give us our bill, and to ask about our order. We ordered a drink (the second drink was sold out and my friend was uninterested in other options) and two appetizers and the drink came first, followed by a twenty minute wait for calamari. The calamari was probably the thinnest squid in the ocean and looked like shoestring fries, but the sauce it came in was delicious. There were approximately three zucchini sticks and four peppers in the calamari, which is on par with many restaurants, but less bang for your buck. It eventually became clear after another 10 min wait that our truffle fries were nowhere to be seen, and since we had to leave for our dinner reservation soon we struggled to flag a server, who then told us that they never put in our fries order. We obviously did not ask them to start making it for us, instead asking for the bill and then leaving. I wish I liked this place more than I did, but the service and staff here were so slow and hard to flag down it felt like we spent our entire meal looking around.

We had an absolute blast from the moment we stepped inside. The whole experience--from the warm welcome at the door to the high-energy live music--was 10/10. The Food Experience: Truly Next Level The food here isn't just "bar snacks"--it's a full-on culinary experience. We tried several dishes and honestly, every single one was a hit: * Grandma's Sunday Sauce: This was the star of the show. It's pure comfort in a bowl and tastes like it's been simmering for days. * The Bacon: You can't go wrong here. It's perfectly prepared, smoky, and dangerously addictive. * The Burrata: So fresh and creamy--the perfect way to start the meal. * Crispy Shrimp: These had the perfect crunch and were packed with flavor. The Vibes & Service The host set the tone right away with a great welcome, and the service throughout the night was seamless. It's rare to find a spot that balances a sophisticated "speakeasy" atmosphere with such friendly, attentive staff. And of course, the music! The live band was electric and kept the energy high all night long. The "Roaring 20s" vibe is so well-done--it feels intimate but exciting at the same time. Final Verdict I would definitely suggest Prohibition to everyone!
