A really nice spot to go before a show at Lincoln Center. There is live music, the space is elegant and fine, the dining is also quite fine, and the service is over the top. The food isn't anything like Jean Georges, it's simply just real food made fancy, but really well done. The pizzas are good. The duck confit is one of the best duck confits i've ever had, the pasta was decent, the bread and olive oil amazing. In essence every dish is just really really good. In If you needed a textbook great duck confit, grand marnier souffle, and margherita pizza Rampoldi is the place while wowing you with service and entertaining you with the space and music. BTW you must get the souffle. If you don't it's a crime. It doe stake an extra 20 minutes so keep that in mind. You are unlikely to make as tasty of a souffle. We came to this restaurant after going to the NYC ballet at Lincoln center. Super convenient location if you are catching a show, this was literally less than5 min walking. Rampoldi has an elegant atmosphere; loved the live piano music, and considering the time we arrived, we got the perfect table to enjoy the music. I forget the name of our server, but she was attentive and warm, making the entire experience very enjoyable. I wanted to love the food, but I just liked it, not bad by any means, but just standard. I may give this place a try again soon again. They have a special early dinner menu that works around the Lincoln center performances, may try place again when I come to another show. Wow! I am so glad we went to Rampoldi for our anniversary dinner! Everything was absolutely amazing from the service to the food. Absolutely an amazing place. The vibes is so pleasant to eyes and feeling. We decided to dined here being its location is steps away from Lincoln Center. A show we were scheduled to see is set at 2 pm and thus placed opened at noon. It is just perfect for timing. Food is delicious, a unique taste that elevated our senses . It took a while to serve our main entree not because they were slow but I believed because they were making sure for us to experience the best . When it arrived- the best food taste ever I have tried. It's a combination of French and Italian fare on the choices on its ingredients and spices. We went for their duck confit and beef rosini! Incredible hidden gem. It does get crowded since it is near Lincoln Center, but it's worth the wait. The ambiance is amazing. Cozy / romantic feel but also feel comfortable sitting at the bar alone. We went here after visiting central park due to its proximity. The waiter asked if we had a show to watch after to accommodate our schedule which was nice. However, the portions were tiny and the food was just average. My favorite was the salmon but even this was just mediocre. Rampoldi offers an elegant dining experience with attention to detail from start to finish starting with the bathroom, which was surprisingly beautiful with soft lighting that sets a luxurious tone. We began with breadsticks and sourdough, served alongside butter, olive oil, and green olives. The olive oil had a rich depth with a slightly briny, pickle-like flavor that stood out in a good way. The sourdough had olives baked right into it, which was a really nice touch, and the crackers were perfectly crunchy a strong start. The carpaccio was incredibly fresh and beautifully presented with sweet tomatoes, creamy avocado, and a cracker that literally melted in the mouth when combined with everything else. Easily one of the highlights of the night. The foie gras was phenomenal velvety soft and rich, paired with brioche bread that made every bite feel indulgent. This was the standout dish for me just perfect. The risotto came al dente, with peas, mushrooms, a vibrant green sauce, and a dollop of creamy white sauce on top. I came to Rampoldi with my fiancé and two other friends for dinner on a Thursday. Our friends live around the area and highly recommended that we come here-- this visit certainly did not disappoint! This restaurant specializes in cuisine from Monaco, I.e Monegasque, and there is an original restaurant in Monte Carlo which I thought was super cool. The space is absolutely stunning and completely embodies the grandiosity, and upscale feel of Monaco. The restaurant has beautiful high ceilings, marble walls, soft warm lights, and a live pianist which really elevates the ambiance. The service is absolutely stellar. Andrea, the manager, was very attentive of us and was available to make sure we had a great experience. He also had fantastic recommendations for wines. We ended up getting a bottle of an Italian Prosecco that was perfect to start our meal. David was our waiter and he was also very personable and knowledgeable of the menu. He gave us really great recommendations for food which I'm happy we listened to! The brought out some complimentary crispy flatbread as well as regular bread with side butters and some delicious olives while we waited for food. The cuisine has a lot of Southern French and Italian influences so the menu is reflective of this, offering a variety of different items from carpaccios to pizzas to more traditional French dishes. We tried: - Carpaccio de sériole: a delicious amberjack carpaccio with very mild and light tasting fish, citrus punches from the lemon, with the crispy texture and saltiness from the shoestring potatoes. Ver bright dish but light. This was the perfect starter and the presentation was beautiful although I did not take photos. - Roulade de poulet: I ordered this dish and it was amazing! The chicken was so tender and had a very soft filling which I think may have had cheese and some sort of umami element like pancetta(?). The truffle sauce was magical-- it was very balanced and had a hint of truffle without it overpowering the entire dish or the flavor of the chicken. This all came with a generous bed of sautéed chard which complimented the dish well with its more tangy flavor profile. - Confit de canard: my fiancé ordered this and let me try a little... it was absolutely delicious! The duck was cooked to perfection, and had a subtly sweet and acidic sauce of wine, berries, and spices which balanced out the more umami meat. The potatoes it came with were cooked to perfection. Very comforting and filling dish! A warm hug in the cold winter. -Cauliflower au gratin: we got this as a side dish and it was delicious! Very comforting side dish for the winter with a creamy sauce, generous cheese, and perfectly broiled cauliflower topped with some crispy breadcrumbs. Decadent! - Glacé à la lavande de Provence: for dessert we tried their signature lavender ice cream that came with a scoop of yogurt ice cream. The lavender ice cream had a pretty prominent lavender flavor but it was nicely balanced by the more tart yogurt scoop. They top it with some honey which adds that natural sweetness as well as some candied pistachios which bring some nuttiness and texture. They brought out this dessert with a candle and congratulations since we were celebrating that my fiancé and I are getting married soon. It was very nice of them. Overall, we had a fantastic dinner experience and I highly highly recommend this place for a pre-show meal at Lincoln Center, to impress out of towners, or on a nicer date. We returned for New Year's Eve. It wasn't as much of a party scene as we had expected. The jazzy band played American standards and they were terrific. Party favors and a glass of bubbly were provided. Service was good and the food was great. They had a set menu for NYE. We added the shellfish tower. The lobster bisque was delicious. Everything was quite something: the setting (pink marble!), the size of the space, the sheer opulence. That said, I sat at the bar and was offered three menus. I took a deep breath and carried on. I had just sat through a rather heavy performance across the street, so I wasn't sure about another "deep dive." Come to realize that the offerings were varied and plentiful. My bartender, David, was cheerful and gave me just the right amount of attention. I chose a nice Italian red wine, a Caesar salad with grilled shrimp and said yes to the "bread." Well, the bread was like a meal onto itself. Poured the offered olive oil onto the plate with the slab of butter, as they say: amazing, as was the salad. Chatted a tiny bit with the others sitting a the bar, as one does, especially on a Sunday evening. All in all, it was a delightfully enjoyable experience. Had a lovely pre-opera meal at this swanky joint -- the dining room feels more like a bank-turned-club, all marble and red lights. But the feeling is chill and nice, the service was friendly and they knew we were on an opera deadline and had no issues getting everything out on time. I came in a small group so we split two appetizers, the veal and the foie gras. Both were tasty, though the foie gras was truly stand out. The chutney was really delicious, not a sentence I find myself saying often. We also split a tiramisu for dessert that was perfect. For an entree I just got the truffle pasta, which did rule I gotta say. Extremely filling, what with its interesting pasta shape, not that that's a complaint. Delicate and lovely. I opted for a Rampoldi cocktail as well, which was dessert-like and delicious. Overall a nice experience, though nothing truly blew my mind. The ambiance is beautiful and I loved the set up and colors. It was pretty desolate when we were there...perhaps because it was Monday night and they were missing the theater crowds. Their prices are high, their character is low. Our friends are regulars here, to the point that they always get comped free drinks. They booked a dinner with us and noted in the reservation that we were celebrating 2 birthdays. The waitress was definitely pushy, trying to upsell at every opportunity, but it was after we'd ordered drinks, apps, mains, and dessert that the waitress and Assistant GM came by with a drinks cart. My friend said "Admittedly I don't know anything about brandy, what would you recommend", and they pushed him towards a particular Remy Martin vintage. They did not note its cost, he thought it was a comp, it was only when the check came did we discover it cost $300. I've written to the restaurant twice and told them we felt like we got shaken down, neither time did they respond. Watch out with this place, the incident I'm describing is by design. read more

The restaurant was very accommodating with my requests for a birthday celebration and overall I had a pleasant experience. My party and I all ordered different meals and as a group felt the food was okay. I had the duck confit and it was not that great in the restaurant but thankfully I decided to try it as leftovers and it was much better. I did get to taste the lobster spaghetti while in the restaurant and that was decent. The best thing about the location is the service and ambiance. The service was terrible. I think they forgot about us. We waited an hour and a half for our food to arrive which added stress to the experience because we were going to the ballet after and were under a time crunch. When the food did arrive it was lukewarm and chewy as though it had been sitting out and was then reheated. I don't even know where to start on this mess. They had **two waitresses for the whole restaurant** on a Saturday night. Poor staff all looked totally stressed out and running around like crazy. They WERE well-staffed enough to have someone there taking photos with her phone of carpaccio being made table side which I assume was for social media promotion. Our reservation was 5:30pm for an 8pm show. Took our drink orders, brought our drinks about 25 minutes later - by the time we got our food, it was 50+ minutes into our reservation. Took our glasses from our (empty) drinks never asked if we wanted another round. Pasta was dried out from sitting, scallops were lukewarm (from sitting?). Never asked how the food was, got one water refill. Manager came over at 6:45 when we'd been sitting with empty plates and empty water glasses to ask if everything went well. We told him no....he and the waitress both asked if the problem was that they didn't get us out in time for our show. "No....." we explained the myriad of problems. We explained we would have liked a glass of wine to accompany our dinner, he stared at us like deer in the headlights. They comped our one round of drinks. Won't be back. Ever. read more

I have dined at Jules Verne in Paris, on the Queen Mary 2 and at many other very fine restaurants, THIS restaurant eclipses all of them. I am wondering why it doesn't have 3 Michelin stars. When I saw that even the tablecloths were ironed between dining guests, I knew this was the restaurant for me. Sophisticated and upscale with a sultry ambience, the atmosphere is only matched by the superb food and excellent service. David was our server and he took wonderful care of us- expertly guiding us through the menu. We enjoyed the half dozen oysters of the day which were beautifully presented. My husband ordered the duck confit and I ordered the salmon. His duck was the winner of the two entrees as the flavor was rich, dynamic and had an incredible sweetness that was perfectly balanced with the bold red wine sauce. Each bite brought a new burst of flavor and it was so enjoyable. The salmon was delicious as well and both were plated in such an aesthetically pleasing way: feast for the eyes! I was so pleased with the coconut sorbet- if you enjoy the flavor of coconut at all, you must order it. Rich and nutty and a perfect way to end the meal.
