I'm mad at myself because this place is two blocks from my apartment and my friend from Brooklyn had to tell me about it! We met here for a catch up dinner and I was wow-ed from start to finish. The vibe of the place is great and I would love to sit at the beautiful bar in front for happy hour sometime. The interior is cozy and fun. Service from Iryna (sp?) really put the experience over the top. She was exceptional and add that to the outstanding food, it was a great experience. I started with an Ocean Fashioned cocktail (basically an old fashioned, maybe a little sweeter) which was great. We shared some oysters and shrimp cocktail, along with some halloumi. Everything was great but we all went gaga for the halloumi. It was so good and had a wonderful bit of spice to it. There was some type of reduction on it that was amazing. I couldn't eat an entree after that, so I had the frito misto appetizer which was huge anyway. It was great...I could have just eaten a bowl of the lightly fried veggies in it! We wrapped up with a lava cake which was also great. I'm so happy to have come here and will definitely be adding it to my neighborhood rotation!

Call me crazy for ordering pizza at a Seafood spot, but I'm proud to be crazy. The pizza was to die for! It melts in your mouth. The HH specials are awesome too, and they have this really cute wraparound bar. The bartender, Matt, was a superstar. He was so charismatic and made amazing cocktails. Literally said hi to every person who walked in the door and made everyone feel at home. Will definitely return!

On our last night in NYC my daughter and I felt like Oysters. We decided to check out Blue Seafood Bar and Eatery. We had a lovely walk from the M Social where we were staying to the restaurant. The restaurant is intimate and stylish. They have an oyster bar in the front when you walk in. We had quiet table in the back. The menu is all Mediterranean style dishes with lots of seafood, along with tapas. They bring delicious complimentary bread to the table served with olive oil, balsamic, and sea salt. We started with the Blue Point Oysters. Loved the presentation. They sprinkled oranges, strawberries, and blueberries around the ice. Made it even more fresh and loved the citrus touch. We ordered their special that was Moules-frites served in a white wine garlic cream sauce, it was SO good!!! The mussels were firm with a tender texture and the sauce was incredible! Yes we were dipping the fries in the sauce!!! Next we split the Burrata e Mortadella Brick Oven Pizza. It had fresh mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, pistachios, and was topped with mortadella. I don't eat mortadella so added mine to my daughter's side. The pizza was delicious and loved the pistachio sprinkle on top. We ended with their Chocolate Soufflé. We were in NYC celebrating my daughter's birthday so it was perfect! They brought it out with candle for her. It was warm, rich, and fluffy, Yum! The service, ambiance, and food were fantastic. Such a wonderful dinner to end our NYC trip! I can't recommend Blue enough, five stars!!!

I Come For The Happy Hour Oysters! $7 beer and get a dozen oysters?!?! Um, YES PLEASE!!! And whoever is back there making those different flavors of bread... AMAZING!!! I've never had oysters with a piece of fruit... Game-Changer! So refreshing and definitely calm the punch of that ocean flavor oysters have... The service ids great. Our server came every 20-30 minutes making sure we were ok on drinks and oysters. When everything is all said and done, im 3 dozen deep!!! We sat outside which was perfect because I love people-watching. I believe happy hour guests only sit outside... the main dining room is reserved for the full menu. no happy hour inside...

My personal favorite came back three times in the last week just to have this! SUPERB! Rich with flavor. Garganelli with lobster bisque

The food here was absolutely amazing. Every visit somehow gets better, and this last one truly stood out. Our server, Mihaela, was wonderful--so attentive and genuinely kind. She even remembered us and many of the dishes we've ordered and loved on previous visits, which made the experience feel extra special. The chef, Isael (I hope I'm spelling his name correctly), is truly Michelin-star quality in both talent and attitude. The food was exceptional, and his passion really comes through in every dish. I made a point to personally thank him and let him know how incredible our evening was because it was that good. We were also lucky enough to meet the owner during our visit and had a lovely moment chatting with him. It made us want to reassure him that we will absolutely be back whenever we're in town. Blue Seafood Bar & Eatery is something special--fantastic food, wonderful people, and an experience worth returning to again and again.

Wonderful service! We notified the staff we had a show to catch and they fully acknowledge and acommadated it. Started off with a bread basket which isn't common in NYC, per se. Our table got the $39 pre-fix menu which came with an appetizer, main and dessert. I am not sure when it starts but it ends at 7pm. I got the branzino ceviche, salmon and coffee creme brûlée. The ceviche and salmon were excellent portions and helped with my protein intake for the day. Highly recommend and glad we stumbled upon this spot!

I arrived earlier than my date this evening Planning on attending the Louis Armstrong play afterwards and was allowed to sit outside at a table with a glass of wine. How perfect was that. When my guest arrived we dined indoors and it was quaint and lovely. We ordered Salmon and it was superbly prepared. Followed by a delicious dessert. The servers kept everything moving smoothly and we left with enough time to stroll to our show. Such a wonderful experience.

Great happy hour deals on weekdays, but the quality of the oysters are not it. There are other New York City spots with better HH oyster deals so if possible, there are many options. But apparently some days are good so I guess it can be really good.

Mixed Grilled Seafood (For Two or More)

Pretty good! Walked in for an early dinner on a Wednesday night and was able to get seated. It was a little loud inside but the service was alright. The mixed grilled seafood was awesome (and a lot of food). Nothing else stood out as particularly good/bad. The pours of wine were a little small for the price/quality.

Grande seafood tower

I was looking for a seafood restaurant for a large group and allow behaved little foodie kids, which can be hard to find ;) I found them on yelp and google. Came here with a very large group (family) and they were so accommodating. Easy to book on Resy. Communication was great, they called to confirm, the waitstaff was on it too - excellent service - special thanks to Armando for all the attention and his recommendations were honest and on point. We came on a weeknight, so it wasn't too crowded. While reading the menu, they bring out tomato bread with accompaniments, loved the zucchini dip. We ordered some margarita pizzas and fritti misto for the kids - they ate it all. For the adults we got the New England clam chowder (good size portion), grande seafood tower, the grilled seafood platter, mixed grilled vegetables, broccoli rabe - everything was fantastic! We shared everything family style. Great sized portions.. I don't get why other reviewers were complaining about the portions? Quality is fresh. Another table got the halibut special which looked really good too. Wine list is good too - had a bottle of some white burgundy that wasn't overly expensive. All the desserts were delicious, definitely get the coffee creme brûlée. We also got the tres leche flan, chocolate soufflé, and tiramisu. Honestly, everything was good and the whole family was happy with Blue Seafood.

"Purple Colored" Sour Dough Bread

I had a delivery order of oysters, fish & chips and panna cotta. I had never ordered nor expected a restaurant to deliver shucked raw oysters, but Blue Seafood Bar did and they were excellent! They were served on ice with cocktail sauce and lemons. They were juicy, fresh and delicious! The flounder was nicely cooked with some crispiness to the breading and a nicely cooked large single piece of fish inside. The fries were still crispy, too. I really enjoyed the panna cotta dessert...excellent! Also included were two small pieces of a strange looking though tasty purple colored sour dough bread! Delivery was fast, and the price was average for Manhattan. In all, I was very pleased with this meal! I hope to go to this restaurant in the future.

I love the vibe at Blue Seafood Bar. The Happy Hour is buzzy and the oysters and seafood are fresh! Very friendly service too by Michaela!

Beautiful Midtown Manhattan/Hell's Kitchen - the area in which it's found.

Recently, my friend and I stopped into this fabulous spot on 9th Avenue, which was def worth the visit. We sat at the bar - she's a drinker and I'm sober - and both found something that we enjoyed. She ordered the "watermelon vibe," which she savored, and I ordered a pineapple juice (on ice). I wasn't hungry, but she was ready for a little something; so, she also ordered three different types of oysters (two of each type). Our bartender and server, Matt, was both helpful and kind, as was his bartender colleague; forgive me, as I only grabbed Matt's name. We struck up a conversation with Matt, and he was easygoing, charming and pleasant, too. It was a gentle and welcoming place to hang for a while. This is a sweet, low key eatery for a late evening drink and/or nosh. Their items are elegantly prepared and presented, yet relatively affordable. We recommend it! Best, Kat

I was warmly greeted by the gentleman at the door (5 service there), which set a great first impression. However, as soon as I walked downstairs, it felt like the space had lost its speakeasy vibe. I was seated right near the stairs and could feel cold air from outside every time the door opened, which made the experience uncomfortable. I was also surprised to see how much the cocktail menu had been reduced. When I asked about it, the response was that "the place changed a lot." That's fair -- places evolve -- but instead of highlighting the improvements or new strengths, the explanation focused negatively on what the bar used to be. As someone who really enjoyed the former version, that wasn't reassuring. Unfortunately, the drinks themselves didn't make up for it. One of the two cocktails was simply not good. No one came back to check on the drinks, and when I asked for the check after about 20 minutes, there was no acknowledgment that I had barely touched mine or any inquiry about my experience. Overall, a place I once enjoyed and recommended now feels more like a standard dive bar where " Mixologist " were replaced by bartender and were fun cool looking and tasty drinks were replaced by " less complex cocktail ", lacking the warmth and attention to detail that once made it special.

Easy to find if you know what you're looking for, if you arrive right at 5pm on a cold weeknight in the winter, you'll easily find a table or seat at the bar. Very cute space, cozy like everyone says, but nothing mind blowing. Music is moderately loud. The menu in early February still included their winter holiday cocktails. I was more interested in the apple sage house-made fermented soda, and it was pretty good-large glass, flavorful and not too sweet. My friend enjoyed her pomegranate version. The space started to fill up at around 5:30. Service was polite when you could get it, but generally very inattentive, even before it got busy. It honestly didn't feel too different from anu other very nice NYC bar, in terms of menu selection, prices, ambiance and service. Maybe that's standard for NYC speakeasies, but the places I frequented in other cities were more fun and felt more worth the price. I'll still give another NYC spot a try, but not coming back to Thyme.

For drinks, we ordered the Smoke Show and the King Tusk. The Smoke Show was beautifully balanced. The Grey Goose vodka and Dolin Dry gave it that classic martini backbone, but the fino sherry and brine added depth. The smoked olive oil and blue cheese olive brought just enough savory drama without overpowering the glass. It was complex but not fussy. The King Tusk leaned more aromatic and layered. The vermouths gave it richness, while the Buddha's Hand and osmanthus flower added subtle citrus and floral notes that lingered in a really elegant way. It felt like a cocktail designed to be savored slowly. The music fit the mood perfectly, not too loud, just enough to give the room energy without killing conversation.
