Parla is one of the few restaurants in NYC I think of that nails the experience in every way - the food/drinks are inventive and excellent, the service is always amazing, and the space itself is gorgeous, sunny, and so chic. I have been here twice and adored it both times. They have the best drink menu with both NA and alcoholic options. I love their marinated olives, arancini, and parmesan (with honey and black pepper!). My favorite pizza is the burriza, which has burrata/pesto/tomatoes/balsamic and is SO GOOD! I highly recommend getting the calabrian chili honey as well to dip the pizza in. I think their pasta portions are on the smaller side, so I would stick with pizza! They have a huge variety (both round and square), so everyone will find one that they love. Zach (the manager) is so lovely as well, you can tell there is so much heart put into Parla. Visited here for lunch with some friends on a Sunday afternoon - we had a 2:30 reservation but weren't seated til 3 pm - the restaurant is tiny but the staff is so kind, they were extremely apologetic about the wait time but didn't want to rush the other party out as they also had young children (so did we). Really wanted to love Parla as it seems like reservations here are hard to secure and it's the newest Italian spot in the city however the experience and food fell pretty flat. We've attempted a walk in on the most popular days and times aka dinner time, yet have always come to a "It'll be a 40-60 min wait" which is crazy given that there's a chance the long wait will not lead to a positive outcome. We eventually had reservations and it's safe to say that Parla is good for what it is if you're in the UWS and craving a pasta pizza combo and are either riding solo or stumble upon an off time to dine. We ordered- Lumache Pomodoro NY Classic The setting is very intimate and can get quite loud however it truly felt like we were at the hottest spot in the neighborhood, so no surprise there. The pizza was quite dry and we essentially had to dip each of our slices in the pasta just so it could taste a bit less...dry. I thought you'd get more bang out of your buck by ordering a round pizza, however maybe flavor wise the square pizzas could be better. But after coming to Parla, I can definitely understand why they've generated buzz for a cuisine that's available on pretty much every street corner. We tried two styles of their pizza - the round (S.O.P.), and the square (Full Shroom). The round was somewhere between a New York and Neapolitan style.
