My friend and I came here for appetizers and drinks before dinner, and we asked to be seated inside. Usually that would mean that service is faster as the staff are walking out of the kitchen, but the service here was unbearably slow. We had to crane our heads to get our orders taken, to find someone to give us our bill, and to ask about our order. We ordered a drink (the second drink was sold out and my friend was uninterested in other options) and two appetizers and the drink came first, followed by a twenty minute wait for calamari. The calamari was probably the thinnest squid in the ocean and looked like shoestring fries, but the sauce it came in was delicious. There were approximately three zucchini sticks and four peppers in the calamari, which is on par with many restaurants, but less bang for your buck. It eventually became clear after another 10 min wait that our truffle fries were nowhere to be seen, and since we had to leave for our dinner reservation soon we struggled to flag a server, who then told us that they never put in our fries order. We obviously did not ask them to start making it for us, instead asking for the bill and then leaving. I wish I liked this place more than I did, but the service and staff here were so slow and hard to flag down it felt like we spent our entire meal looking around. read more

The Wolfe has a fabulous wait staff and decent food, yet the seating arrangements are tight and the bathrooms could be much cleaner. Lots of TVs enable you to watch several different football games and 60 Minutes (unfortunately without captions). The smash burgers sliders sit on soft bread. The angus patty - cooked as requested - was to be served with fire roasted tomatoes but the tomatoes were super sweet and from a jar, overpowering each bite. As for the seating, we sat at the high tables in the middle of the room, and each time the people at the bar threw their arms up to cheer for their team, their chairs and arms hit our chairs. Avoid these seats if you can. The sounds of the full house weren't overwhelming, yet the presence of your neighbor was ever present. I'm not sure I want a repeat experience. read more

Lovely vegetarian friendly restaurant with multiple TVs at the bar. Came here on a Thursday afternoon, they weren't busy, service was great. Incredible happy hour that starts at 11:30am!! My friends and I split the Arancini and the Sticky Tofu. They were both incredible and the perfect appetizers for 3 people to split. The arancini was crispy and cheesy, the tofu was cooked to perfection and the sauce was absolutely divine. I also had the Kale Caesar Salad, the kale was tender and the salad came with a generous amount of light cheese. Wonderful portion size. Pricing here was very fair - 6 happy hour cocktails, 2 appetizers, and 3 entrees all came out to around $140 (pre-tip). Overall 10 out of 10 experience. Looking forward to coming back on a Monday to take advantage of the $18 martini + fries "happy meal" special! read more

Our favorite bar in the UWS! We love to visit for their weekday deals and happy hour which ends on the later end (at 7p). Their jumbo wings are the best and we also love the big bad Wolfe burger and their truffle fries. The decor and ambience is so nice for a sports bar. There are giant TVs across both sides of the room. It can be quite loud, but it's a great spot to watch games with friends over good food and drinks. read more

Awesome food for a sports bar. Holy moly. We came in late on a random Tuesday night for dinner and got a spot ~30min before they stopped serving food. Man I'm quite glad we chose to chow down here. We got tacos, cherry chicken wings, and a smash burger. All items were YUM. The chicken wings were the dry rub seasoning was a perfect balance of both sweet and spicy and bless the lord they have ranch not just bleu cheese. The smash burger was also very solid! I was only in NY for the night and was craving a smash burger and am very glad we stopped here instead of the 7th street across the block. Staff were also quick and attentive! First Impressions: came here for happy hour, it was pretty packed. All the booths were taken and only the round tables in the middle were available... which sucked because we were hungry and we were planning on ordering a lot of food. Luckily, after our first round of happy hour, drink drinks a bigger table (booth) opened up and we were able to move there... as you can see from the spread we ordered quite a bit. The Noms: the wings were very dry would not recommend. The Burrata and peach was delicious, I only wish that they gave us more of the bread to eat with the burrata. The artichoke and goat cheese croquettes were very good. We also ate some of the Burrata and peach with the croquettes since there wasn't enough bread slices to eat all of the burrata. I would probably order both the dishes again... the fries were light and crisp and the Parmesan and truffle topping wasn't too overwhelming, which can often be the case. One thing I didn't get a picture of is we did order a martini with a side of fries. (I think it's the Monday special called a Manhattan happy meal?) the fries that came with that martini was way too salty... whoever put the bay seasoning on those fries had a really really heavy hand. It was a pretty small portion and too late to return it... but I would not order that one again. In Conclusion: I would come back here for happy hour again... but I guess I would have to make a reservation to make sure that we have a booth so we can order more food. I saw some tables had a reservation sign on it.... So I guess you can do reservations for happy hour., which I would recommend doing. read more

Happy to see the old McAleer's space doing well. The Wolfe is a member of the Stout family. I like their properties! But Wolfe is like...fancier, I dunno. We spent nearly $100 for beers, sliders and truffle fries. Not saying it wasn't good: the food was great. I was thinking this place might have been more... maybe... sports bar-ish? Like the Stout or Feile? I desperately need one of those in the neighborhood (a step above blondies, the Jake's/Gin Mill crowd lol). But this was like three steps above those places. Not complaining, but I need a burger and wing place but like, older crowd that caters to gen X. But the staff was very friendly, they had the rangers game on. Seems to get regulars. They have a really solid happy hour. Bottled beer is $5 and draft is $6. Their happy hour goes until 7 pm. My girlfriend and I went and we got the big bad Wolfe burger with truffle fries, their smash burger, and a beer each. The bill was about $53 before tip. The Wolfe is such a fun brunch spot on the UWS. My friends and I came here on a Saturday morning. It was about half filled when we arrived . We each ordered the bottomless brunch which came with unlimited mimosas and Bloody Mary's for $25 pp. Those drinks are not watered down! I ordered the sweet and spicy crispy chicken sandwich with fries. I thought the chicken was a bit dry and enjoyed the fries. The menu has some good options for just about all preferences. This is a pretty decent sized bar. Nice bar setting with tables behaving. Even a mini semi private table toward the back with own screen. It was a good ambiance and a variety of people popping in for the superbowl party. It was vibrant and loud and it was amazing. The staff are supper friendly and the ambiance is a lil upscale. Very cute for a light for date, after work drinks with friends, or a place to start a night out. Very mixed feelings about this bar. Ambiance is great. Almost a classy sports bar. A lot of tvs, high top tables - perfect for football watching with friends or even just hanging solo at the bar. There are also a couple great private rooms that have seating area and private tvs. They also have open curtains so you can close them for more private space or keep them open to make it feel like you are still part of a bar. Great concept. The music however, awful. Awful. Rap that was incredibly loud that you couldn't have a conversation. How can you watch a football game and talk about it with friends while screaming over rap music? I only sat at the bar so I can only speak for the service at the bar. I would say it was decent. Attentive. Friendly. Good drinks (I had the Retox which was great). But when I switched to wine, the pours were TERRIBLE. For a place that has basically midtown prices I would have expected pours much larger. All in all, I would go back for a cocktail - but wouldn't be a place that I'll be spending an afternoon for football on the weekends, which is what I think they were aiming for. If they turned down the music and changed it, that may help but I heard people actively talking around me how they couldn't take the music anymore. read more

OMG, this little spot is great! Came here after a day out and Becca was our server. Excellent Customer Service from start to finish. She answered questions we had about the menu and remained super attentive checking in and ensuring we didn't need anything else. She was SIMPLY AMAZING as was the food. I got the big bad wolf, burger and substituted for the plant based patty, no arugula. Becca recommended the wolf sauce and let me just say, delicious. I got the regular fries, which were also good. We started with the artichoke and cheese, croquettes, and the brussels sprouts for appetizers. Both were very delicious! The wait to get set seated was a little long but not insufferable for a weekend brunch. Service was excellent. Food was tasty. My wife commented that it has a very male vibe, which is true. Too many TVs for my liking, but otherwise a cozy nicely appointed space I thought. My one gripe was that the Wolfe omelette I ordered was described as having maitake mushrooms and black kale. In fact, they were just regular standard issue mushrooms and what appeared to be regular green kale. It was tasty enough so I didn't make a stink about it to the waitress who was very nice. But I felt like it was sort of a bait and switch. Maitakes have a very distinct look and flavor that is absolutely not like garden variety mushrooms. If a restaurant advertises one thing and runs out, they ought to alert customers to that when ordering Overall I found this to be a good place to eat as a vegetarian and it was just across the street from our hotel so if you're on the UWS it's an easy choice. read more
