Great experience here this past Sunday. Walked in to watch the Saints game during the nor'easter and really enjoyed my time. I grabbed a seat at the bar and the servers were lovely. Very attentive and respectful. Plenty of televisions that showed all the games -- they even put the Saints on the main TV after I asked if it was possible! The burger sliders were delicious and reasonably priced. Only docking a star because they didn't have a single sour ale, which is my go-to beer these days. Will return! read more

This review is overdue. About a month ago there was a group of 20 of us coming into the city from NJ to see a show at the Beacon Theater. I was scrambling to find a restaurant that could accommodate us and take a reservation. It was quite difficult but then I stumbled upon Westland Roe. I called and spoke to Linda. She was very pleasant. I explained to her that we had a large group and limited time. She said no problem. I'll reserve a space for you. The next day we were stuck in Friday night traffic and I called Linda and said we were running late. Again, she said no problem. To save time I took everyone's order ahead of time. When we got to the restaurant Linda greeted and sat us immediately. The restaurant, especially the bar area, was crowded but as she said she saved us a table for 20. I gave the waitress our order with changes and requests and everything not only came out quickly, it came out right. The food was good and very reasonably priced. Linda was great and we were done in plenty of time to walk the few short blocks to the Beacon theater. What could have been a very stressful time turned out perfectly. Great customer service. My wife and I were heading to a show at the nearby Beacon Theater and came across the Westland Roe as I did a search of the area. Figured it was casual enough to get a quick yet hearty bite while knowing we needed to take a quick walk for the start of our show. First, I had made a reservation and did not get there on time...I totally own that. Nonetheless, they were more than accommodating and sat us almost immediately despite being pretty busy. That said, we were served in very quick fashion and everything we ordered was great. I did not take a photo of the seasonal drink my wife had which she enjoyed. I had an epic pint of Yuengling. Pictured are the tacos we had as an appy and then I had the buffalo chicken wrap, my wife had the (unpictured lol) shepherd's pie. The waiter came through which a brown sauce which he said was the staple to have with a shepherd's pie and he was not wrong. It was a great vibe for a Saturday night. Super casual spot with a large bar and open seating across the bar and then table service in the back which is where we sat. If you are in the area for a show or just in the area, drop in! Came here for New Year's eve towards the later side of the night. It was popping and everyone was having a great time. The bartenders were nice and my friends got nachos and a sliders and it looked good. I was happy that the bartender's and the waiters asked what kind of gin I wanted for my gin and tonic. Most places just use the house gin if not asked for a different kind. I would come back here and try out their food and other cocktails. FALSE ADVERTISING ON NEW YEARS EVE--NO COMPLIMENTARY CHAMPAGNE: I saw the attached poster on Westland Roe's Instagram page advertising no cover charge and complimentary champagne for New Years Eve. Sounds like a cool offer, right? We entered the bar at 10:30 PM and to my surprise, it was not that full. We ended up at one of the many empty "reserved" tables and ordered four cocktails with our server and asked him for four waters. I believe our server was the guy in the photo with his arms up. We asked him several times for waters and he did not bring them. If the restaurant was busy, I could understand him forgetting / ignoring us, but it was not busy at all, and there were a lot of people staffed. That was strike one. As it got closer to midnight, we started seeing a handful of people holding glasses of champagne. I remembered that the Instagram poster promised everyone complimentary champagne so I asked the same server for glasses. He snapped at us "one minute!" And proceeded to stand in the corner with his friends with his arms in the air for 10 minutes. Now, a glass of prosecco on Westland Roe's menu only costs $10, so we could have bought it ourselves: that's not the issue. But if you're going to advertise complimentary champagne, you should have one bartender and one server going around giving every single patron a glass. Last night, my experience was that only a select few lucky patrons were allowed to receive complimentary champagne and it was only (1) if they asked for it, and (2) if they asked the right server or bartender. It's the principle. Don't advertise free champagne if you're not going to give it to everyone. read more

Came in for dinner on a Sunday night. It wasn't too busy, there was plenty of seating available at the tables and the bar. We were seated right away. Great service, everyone was very nice and we did not wait too long for our food. I had the margarita flat bread which was phenomenal; great presentation, good portion, very tasty and reasonably priced. I also had a couple glasses of wine that were very generously poured. The day i went there was a show at the Beacon, so it was definitely very busy and loud (the waitress said even louder than usual), so definitely something to check beforehand/keep in mind if you're going for a quieter or more intimate experience. Full Irish breakfast is one of the best in NYC! From the bacon to the puddings! All was amazing. Definitely recommend trying their brunch! Also the rest of the menu has great items to try. Westland is a fairly typical pub with assorted drink and food options. Very good selection of beers. Burgers were excellent and the fries crisp with some skin. Service was a bit spotty. Had to ask for menus and then had to ask again in order to get food menus. Drinks are on one menu and food is on another. Prices are moderate. Location is perfect if you're looking for drinks or a bite for a concert at the Beacon theater. read more

With a new spot in the neighborhood, really wished I had better things to say. Positive: drinks were good. Atmosphere was good. Negatives: service. Completely awful. Didn't even have water for about 45 minutes. Food - - only thing I ordered was the dumplings, awful. The bartender recommended them to me and they were so bad I only had one. Salty and overcooked. Recommendations: if you want to go for casual drinks (again this is just based on the bartender I had), it's good if you have patience - but she made good drinks. Slow service: Our food took over an HOUR to come out. After 40 min I asked the server to check in the kitchen, otherwise didn't receive any updates. There was only one main server and a bartender. So service was slow all around. Food: When it was finally served, it was pretty good. We were there around 10:30am on a Saturday and was a bit disappointed there's no brunch menu, just one menu. So we ordered bar food apps - fries, onion rings, pigs in a blanket, mini tacos- and salads. My caesar salad was heavy on the dressing but otherwise okay. Warning there is a credit card surcharge. Given all the dishes and drinks were either standard or slightly pricey (standard fries priced at $9), I'm surprised there's another charge for just paying with credit card... for a group like ours who is paying with all cash? If I'm being honest I would rate lower, but want to extend some grace because it's a new business. I hope they take this feedback into account. read more

4 for early dinner before a show, we walked in and the small crowd was loud as they watched a game on TV. Seated quickly and drink orders taken. Ordered regular nachos,quest cheese spread over a pile of chips, one dollop of sour cream and guacamole one end of the plate. Presentation not great but tasty. Ordered fish&chips, Roe burger, Cesar salad and roasted Brussels sprouts. Everything was great. The waiters were perfect, friendly, helpful, quick and efficient there was never an empty glass or plate on the tables and never ask how things are while our mouth was full. Another great addition to the UWS. This space has been vacant forever so I am thrilled to see it come to life with such a fun, lively, and attractive pub. The beau and I popped in on a Saturday night and got a table in the back. The bar was full of patrons clearly enjoying the highly anticipated addition. Decent cocktails at a decent price and the food was pretty darn good. The generous piece of fish (and chips) was served piping hot with pretty standard fries. The fish was tasty and succulent. While the burger isn't the best I've ever had, it's perfectly respectable. Love that you can sub onion rings for the fries too! All of the servers are friendly and help each other out. Stopped by for a quick bite with a friend, the ambiance inside is inviting and even a bit romantic if you come at the right time of night! The service was friendly (maybe a bit understaffed but who isn't these days) to my friend and I with our requests and adjustments to our good. The menu has a wide variety to accommodate most groups, I had a veggie burger and I've gotta say the bun was great! They did tell us the veggie burger and a lot of the dishes are homemade, I love to see it. The fries weren't the most satisfying for me (I think because they are hand cut and I love a gourmet crispy fry or a crunchy sweet potato fry). There are a LOT of TV's across the joint, so probably a great place to watch sports too. read more
