My stellar cocktail !
Jon B.

I came here for cocktails with a friend . Very unassuming from the exterior and quite low key yet upscale inside . The drink menu was quite interesting and they had plenty of options . The bartender was exceptional , friendly and a true artisan . I can recall what I ordered but it was a sort of old fashioned - excellent and on point . Great happy hour as well ! Highly recommended!!

This not-quite-a-dive bar was not as literary-themed as I was expecting, and not very Irish for an Irish bar in NYC. I did appreciate the solitary 2 food items: popcorn and/or hotdogs, which were both surprisingly good, at least for 1am. The service was great, the drink selection was basic, and the vibes seemed oriented towards college-aged crowds, as you would expect from any bar open until 4am.

Hands down one of the dopest spots I have walked into !! The drinks were amazing !! Bartender top Notch !! I'll drive down from Long Island for a drink again !!

This is exactly my kind of bar - no frills, no uppity feel, just food drinks and good vibes, but most importantly, fantastic drinks. I had reservations in the area for brunch but ended up being early so me and my boyfriend stopped in for a drink. At around 2 on a Saturday, the place had a good crowd, but me and my date were able to snag seats at the bar. The service was good and quick and my drink was really good. They have an amazing variety of different drinks so I'd definitely stop by again

A cool pub with a literature theme, and more importantly awesome cocktails. It looks like a bar that's for smart people. The Dead Poet makes for some good reading. Patrons can even check out the inventory of old books. You have to get something to drink of course too. It doesn't have a snooty feel after getting to know some of the customers. More of a loud crowd than expected. They're not a bunch of bookworms as you may have thought. If it were this would be an even better bar. They still have lots of books you can look at in the back as you sit on the couches. As it is, this is still a good bar. The cocktails are about $12 to $13 or so. Expensive but these are excellently crafted. They're all named after poets or writers. All of these are more simple than they appear. I like the Walt Whitman the best. This is made with coconut rum, gin, orange liquor, and lemon vodka. Bookworms are welcome but you don't have to be one to go here. It has actual books to look at if you feel like it. There's a chance a drink is named after one of your favorite writers.

Dive-bar type vibes on this UWS bar -- good yet limited selection of drinks, I got a beer on their menu right next to the bar. The first bartender was a little rude but the next one we got was much friendlier and made the experience more worthwhile with my group of 4. Pro tip: order the popcorn!! We got 2 bags as per the friendlier bartender :)

Tight fit but a nice bar for meeting up with friends. I've also come here to get some work done. Cheap snacks and friendly bartenders.

Unfortunately, no. Smoking and e-cigs are prohibited by NYC in outdoor dining areas. Sorry for any inconvenience.

We ordered two fish dishes (salmon and swordfish) and they were both delicious. The only thing I didn't really like was the rolls were ice cold and so was the butter. Wasn't something I was excited to eat on a cold Thanksgiving evening. The table next to mine was reserved for people who were dining alone and I noticed the waiters and owners made a point to chat with them and make sure they were okay. Got a cozy window seating and loved the ambiance thanks to their floral interiors along with holiday ligthing right next to our table. Noise levels on the quiet side and easy to have conversations. They have a decent kids menu, and the Chicken Fingers ($10) were perfect for our little one. Huevos Rancheros ($19), and Vegetarian Omelette ($19) which was served with home fries and tossed salad was a good portion. Kimbo Coffee ($4.25) was actually pretty good although would've loved it to be warmer. Refills were slow to come. Food was inline with our expectations. Food arrived within 8-10 mins of placing our order, so yeah, really quick! Our initial server/waiter wasn't that attentive but their crew members were definitely more alert. Overall, pretty decent experience.

Let me be clear, the main redeeming aspect of this place is the talent on stage. The musicians were exceptional and deserved far better than the environment surrounding them. I ordered a scotch neat, something I'm very familiar with, and immediately knew something was off. When I politely flagged down a waiter, he responded with visible annoyance, as if I was inconveniencing him by being a paying customer. I explained the issue and simply asked if it could be checked or replaced. Instead of addressing it professionally, he walked away without a word, returned holding the bottle and my glass, and said, "this is what you were poured," before carelessly tossing the drink back onto the table. No apology. No explanation. Just attitude. It escalated from there. When I confronted him about his behavior, he denied it outright and then doubled down with an aggressive, confrontational stance, getting in my face and effectively threatening me. His exact words? "If I tossed your drink on the table, it would have been all over you!", and "Man, shut yo ass!" Completely unprofessional and unacceptable in any setting, let alone an establishment that positions itself as upscale. The manager's response was just as disappointing. Instead of addressing the behavior of his staff, he blamed me, asking why I "chased" the waiter and suggesting I should have gone directly to him. That's not how basic customer service works. I tried to resolve the issue directly, respectfully, and without escalation, something his employee clearly had no interest in. I was thinking if I talk to the waiter first, he wouldn't get in trouble with his manager. To make matters worse, the manager continued to defend the waiter rather than de-escalate the situation. At that point, it was clear this wasn't a one-off issue; it's a reflection of how this place operates. I paid my bill and left. For a venue that attracts world-class jazz talent, it's astonishing how low the standard of service is. This place is doing a disservice to the artists who perform there. I will never return, and I would strongly caution anyone expecting a professional, respectful experience to look elsewhere.
