Love coming here for lunch. Whenever I'm in the mood for Thai food on a weekday you can find me here. The lunch special comes with an egg roll, soup or salad, and entree. I ordered the mixed vegetables with chicken (chop suey) and it was fantastic. The egg rolls are crunchy and the sweet sauce they come with make you want to order more. I also like to get a Thai tea or Thai iced coffee to go which isn't too sweet. You also can't go wrong with the noodles especially their pad Thai. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The staff is also very friendly and the ambiance is peaceful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We just tried The Basil for the first time tonight and had a wonderful meal! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is clean and inviting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was warm and friendly, and everything we ate was great! Egg rolls (5) were good. Tom Yum soup was delicious. The broth was great, with lots of vegetables. The Panang Curry with chicken was smooth and spicy. The Chicken Pad Thai was balanced and the noodles were great! Everything was piping hot and came out quickly. Delighted to say that we have found our new go-to Thai spot

The best Thai for your buck in the South Bay area. The prices are not ridiculous - they even have good $12 lunch specials. But the execution & flavors of their dishes are on par with the fancy schamncy spots. By far my favorite dish is their Drunken Noodles with Tofu - always super flavorful, aromatic, and spicy. I do eat meat but the texture of the tofu is great with the noodles. Another standout is their spicy eggplant with tofu - not oily or overcooked and very yummy. The pad see ew and wonton soup were not bad, just basic. And I was sad that they forgot the bok choy in our soup. Hits the spot if you're craving it though. Most of their stir fried dishes have a lot of smoky undertones. I enjoy it but it might be overpowering for others (like my noodle loving toddler who surprisingly rejected the pad see ew). When you dine in, they are super accomodating for little ones. Cute little reusable cups, special utensils and very clean high chairs. Love how spacious the place is inside and the team is super welcoming and attentive.

The food taste was ok. Not the best ever, but good for the price. However I had two issues. One is that the Medium curry they gave us had the chili paste at the bottom of the container and it hasn't been stirred in yet. So at first it was very mild, then we noticed, stired it and then enjoyed what we ordered. Next time please stir the spice into the food. But the biggest thing is that the rice portion they gave us for takeout was ridiculously small. Smalest rice container over ever seen. In 40 plus years on the planet I didn't know a rice container this small existed. I was this many days old. It also makes no sense because rice is so cheap, just give a normal sized rice and don't be so chintzy. I might come back but will probably look for other places too.

Lunch menu states different prices and it's really higher cost when you pay. Portion of food is like a kids meal.

A portion of white rice that is so tiny, that the container fits INSIDE a 1 cup measuring cup.

Extremely small portions for the price. I have never seen such a tiny portion of white rice with a curry. About enough for 4 big bites? I have had many family dinners at this restaurant over decades, but recent changes have made this delivery order ridiculous. Very disappointed, because while the food is delicious the portions for delivery are laughable.

So, I've been coming to this location since 1997. I bought an old school discount book and Thai Basil was in it. I got hooked on Pad See Ewe (that's my favorite Thai dish). My family would come on Sunday's after church and enjoy dinner. The owner and his family would also be in the dining room enjoying their meal. My kids loved the cashew shrimp and fried rice. Though I have continued to visit throughout the years, the restaurant has now changed ownership. On the positive side, the portions are good and the value is good. The food has changed. The Pad See Ewe was tasty but super oily. They use to have chips with sweet and sour sauce- they don't have this anymore so I ordered the fried wontons. The wontons were super greasy as if they did not drain the oil before plating them. The sweet and sour sauce is a different color too. I just wish the Pad See Ewe tasted the same. The service is still good and the restaurant has had some simple upgrades. Not sure if I will be back. Maybe just for the nostalgia of what was- Family, Food and A Full Heart.

We got the sample appetizer, good variety and very good. We got 3 plates, Chinese broccoli with crispy pork, pineapple shrimp ginger curry, and garlic and pepper with chicken. All were fresh and very good. We will be back.

I've ordered delivery from this place a couple of times. Both were delivered through DoorDash. The first time I ordered chicken pad thai, eggplant with tofu and extra veggies, and a side of peanut sauce. The second time I ordered pad se Ew with beef and chicken Pra-Ram. I ordered the Pra-Ram because I really enjoyed their peanut sauce. However, the sauce was more watery than I expected. The rice helps, but I was expecting a thicker sauce. The Pad Se Ew was saltier than I like. I definitely preferred my first order. The Eggplant tofu and Pad Thai were delicious which is why I ordered again. I strongly recommend these items. I am giving this 5 stars because the flavors are more of a personal preference issue. Otherwise, Everything was cooked well! I ate everything and enjoyed it. While I will likely not order the pad se ew and pram again, I will definitely continue to order from them and explore other menus items. read more

It's a very unassuming place when you drive up but once inside you're greeted by an amazing and loving atmosphere. I loved being there, the staff were very friendly, and attentive. It was a slow day so take that into consideration but regardless me and my gal felt at home. The food is very delicious, we ordered the Thai Basil and Pad Thai. The medium spice level is the way to go. They're also not shy about the portions for the Thai Iced Tea and the fried tofu was delectable. Please give this place a shot, We need more local businesses like this. read more

This is my regular go to for Thai food. It's outstanding. Best Thai that you can find in the south LA/Ling beach area. I'm 100% sure of this as I've tried ALOT of other Thai restaurants and this is the best. I always get takeout so I cannot speak to the dine in experience but I cannot imagine any issues when the food is this good. read more

Love the food and service here. I wish mango sticky rice was always in season but that is not in their control. Used to know it as Thai Basil. Usually we take out. I love the drunken noodles with the tender beef and just spicy enough to make me question my decisions. Have eaten in a few times and they have a very clean and aesthetically pleasing dining room. Seats could be more comfortable, but my mouth is happy when I eat there. read more

Always order via DoorDash after browsing randomly last year and finding this place, and have never been disappointed. Best Thai food in the area for sure! Food has always been hot + fresh; excellent quality and great portions for a relatively cheap price. Love the different veggies, spices, and herbs they use for the dishes here - authentic Thai flavors a lot of places skimp on. Highly recommend the Panang curry with beef! read more

I found this place on google and with the great reviews I placed my order. It was a nice place, I was greeted with a smile. When I arrived home I was excited to eat. I ordered combination rice (with shrimp), prick-king green beans (with shrimp) and wonton soup, you guessed it (with shrimp) . I really wish I took pictures.. the portions were small, smaller than most Thai take-outs Ive been to. Lastly, I got 6 shrimp in total 6 SHRIMPS) The food was tasty with minimal meat, I spent almost $60 for me and hubby and it was barely enough. I would have been ok if they filled the containers with green beans and rice and minimal meat. Again, it was tasty but I wont be back.. read more

Excellent hospitality. Cozy, clean dining area and relaxing music. I ordered the chicken Glass Noodles and it was perfect. No need to add soy sauce or doctor it up. It was light but filling. I am making this my go to Thai spot. The best part is the prices are very reasonable in comparison to other places; worth it because this place is authentic. Highly recommend. Really good thai food, first time eating here but will be back. We ordered pad thai which was really good, the orange chicken was a hit with the kiddos, chinese broccoli with crispy pork also very good. I absolutely love this place! Me and my daugther come all the time. I get the spicey egg plant and orange chicken. I've been coming here for years! The service is awsome and they're friendly. We love Thai food and this find has become a weekly meal. After trying many of the dishes, I can highly recommend the hot basil with crispy pork, drunken noodles, and orange chicken. Tonight was our first dine-in experience since the Covid shutout. The portions were bigger and the service was the best. They offer free local delivery but normally faster (15 minutes) for pickup. Super friendly. Looking forward to next week. Should have taken pics of the food but before we thought about it it was in our bellies read more

Omg amazing I couldn't be anymore satisfied ! Everything was so on point I moved from Vegas missing my Thai place back home and found this place because a recommendation from a friend. The Thai tea was amazing and the crab Rangoon so fresh crispy and fresh.. the green bean and chicken was amazing white rice cooked perfect. I will definitely be bringing my mom when she visits me she's gonna love ! I wish I had a bigger stomach to order more stuff! 5 stars must try good prices read more

If you're looking for a local casual Thai restaurant look no further. The staff is nice, the food is good and the portions are generous. This is not the place to go if you're looking for a fancy date night. Some of my go to dishes they serve are Pad Se Ew, Pad Thai, green papaya salad and their fried rice. The fried rice comes with a choice of meat or no meat. I was able to sub the meat for tofu. Also a great option if you're just looking for takeout. read more

Upon arriving there was 2 designated parking spot for handicap. The noise level at the restaurant was very quiet. There was no designated seating area for individuals that are handicap. The bathroom was the main negetive. First it was difficult opening the door since the spring look like it was broken and it was really heavy when trying opening the door. The light wasnt properly working and the portable handpaper wasnt working to the point where we have to manually rip out the paper. The overall quality of the food was just okay. Service can use improvement since we was the only customer thatt was in the establishment and it took about 35 min to receive our meals from the time we order. At first the wrong order came out but server was nice enough to comp the order. read more

Came here for some take out dinner through a delivery app. It was ready within 15 minutes on a light Monday afternoon. I ordered the Pad see ew, Pad Thai, and Green curry. I really liked the green curry the best. Great flavor with good amount of meat and veggies. The rice was included unlike other places where they might charge extra. The noodles were good as well with your traditional Thai flavors. The pad see ew came with regular broccoli instead of Chinese broccoli which i prefer. Pad Thai did not have a lime wedge here. Pricing was about average to above average compared to other Thai places i go. Each dish on the app was $10. Overall, it was a good meal and enjoyed the quick service. read more

Orders always come incorrectly and the they yell at you for correcting them... At that point no one knows their name..... when you ask WHAT IS YOUR NAME ?? They literally say NOTHING... At that point you ask so YOUR NAME IS NOTHING...they then smile and say yes... Food is decent when you get what you ordered it's just not likely to happen..... NEVER AGAIN.... If you're looking for a saucy and tasty pad Thai, this is the place. I've tried several places in Cerritos and Artesia but this is my far my favorite pad Thai. What a find!!! I've lived in this area for years and never knew this place was here. I received a menu left at my front door and decided to give it a try. I got the lunch special Chicken Pad Thai. If you're looking for authentic, delicious, and filling food, I highly recommend ordering from The Basil and supporting our local businesses. There was so much yummy food and the price was very reasonable for what I got that I was able to tip well since they are currently like so many, not able to have any indoor dining. I will definitely be back and look forward to dining in and enjoying a meal with friends. I would have posted a photo but ate before posting the review. read more

My parents and I have been eating here for years. FOR. YEARS. It used to be called Thai Basil back before COVID. This is our family's go-to takeout restaurant. We always faithfully order the same things; fried rice, pad Thai, glass noodles, some spicy salad, and green curry. Everything is always so good and the portions are just right. We used my room since I have a bigger room. We had plates and set ups for all five of us and we re-plated the food on the serving plates that came with the room. I showed up around 5pm and sure enough there was already a line forming in front of the restaurant. The restaurant is located around a neighborhood, so you have to find street parking, which can be challenging. I already did my research on what I wanted to order, so my process went fairly smoothly. I imagine some other people were not as prepared and asked a lot of questions at the counter which can make the wait time even longer for other people in line. We ordered caesar salad, pizza focaccia with soppressata, squid ink tonnerelli, and ribeye tagliata. We also ordered some glasses of wine. After ordering, they walked us to our table inside. This location used to be a bbq restaurant- shady grove- before they closed down. And wow I was so impressed by the change of the patio vibe. It looked way nicer now under Due Fuori. I truly believe the vibe of a restaurant is equally important to the quality of the food, and this place nailed it. Also, apparently you can still order more stuff even after you're seated. They don't really have dedicated server for each table but the service was pretty efficient in my opinion. Now the food, everything was delicious, I have no notes! Caesar salad, very good. Pizza, omg amazing. And I'm not a pizza kinda person, so this is really a compliment! It's the thick kind of pizza, and they put some honey on it too which makes it even more delicious to me. Next was the squid ink pasta, another delightful dish. My only complaint is that it's not big enough of a portion, haha! The ribeye tagliata was so good. It was served with some salad that's very refreshing. The server explained to us that the original dish comes with the greens and cherry tomatoes underneath the meat, but they serve it separately to keep the freshness and crunch. The meat has some nice crust on the outside, very flavorful. We ended up taking some of the ribeye home, as we were already really full. It was plenty of food to share between two people. I definitely will come back to try other dishes, especially the other popular pasta dishes. This place has been really popular and I heard the line is still long even after a few months (or maybe it has been a year now?). One thing I really appreciated was that he took the time to let us sample a couple of different wines until each of us found one we truly enjoyed. That level of service made the experience feel personalized and never rushed. I ordered the cacio e pepe, and it was delicious--simple, flavorful, and exactly what I was hoping for. Between the excellent food, the thoughtful wine recommendations, and the outstanding service, it made for a wonderful dining experience. Their lunch specials and food cannot be matched with other Thai food restaurants in the area. When working in the Long Beach area, my coworkers and I would eat here at least twice a week. The lunch portion includes a dish selected amongst 10 or so options with rice and a side item(salad, soup, wontons)I am a huge fan of a spicy foods and this place makes the best and spiciest(as requested) Chicken Red Curry I have ever had.I have never been disappointed with the service although sometimes the time it takes to receive the food varies. read more

Great food and portions! Been coming here for Thai food for about 13 yrs, never disappoints. Especially love the Pad Thai and Pineapple shrimp curry! It's hidden away in a little strip mall, but the good news about that is that it's really mellow and welcoming.I've noticed that some of the newer local Thai places are really loud and modern, and I feel like I'm eating in a bar! YES!!!!! Thai Redemption. This place is the truth. You can't go wrong with just about anything on the menu. The place is not that large so don't bring the whole family and parking sometimes can be tricky - but please do not let those mere trivial matters take away from some of the most delectably tasteful Thai food in the LB vicinity. read more
