Love coming here for lunch. Whenever I'm in the mood for Thai food on a weekday you can find me here. The lunch special comes with an egg roll, soup or salad, and entree. I ordered the mixed vegetables with chicken (chop suey) and it was fantastic. The egg rolls are crunchy and the sweet sauce they come with make you want to order more. I also like to get a Thai tea or Thai iced coffee to go which isn't too sweet. You also can't go wrong with the noodles especially their pad Thai. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The staff is also very friendly and the ambiance is peaceful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We just tried The Basil for the first time tonight and had a wonderful meal! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is clean and inviting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was warm and friendly, and everything we ate was great! Egg rolls (5) were good. Tom Yum soup was delicious. The broth was great, with lots of vegetables. The Panang Curry with chicken was smooth and spicy. The Chicken Pad Thai was balanced and the noodles were great! Everything was piping hot and came out quickly. Delighted to say that we have found our new go-to Thai spot

The best Thai for your buck in the South Bay area. The prices are not ridiculous - they even have good $12 lunch specials. But the execution & flavors of their dishes are on par with the fancy schamncy spots. By far my favorite dish is their Drunken Noodles with Tofu - always super flavorful, aromatic, and spicy. I do eat meat but the texture of the tofu is great with the noodles. Another standout is their spicy eggplant with tofu - not oily or overcooked and very yummy. The pad see ew and wonton soup were not bad, just basic. And I was sad that they forgot the bok choy in our soup. Hits the spot if you're craving it though. Most of their stir fried dishes have a lot of smoky undertones. I enjoy it but it might be overpowering for others (like my noodle loving toddler who surprisingly rejected the pad see ew). When you dine in, they are super accomodating for little ones. Cute little reusable cups, special utensils and very clean high chairs. Love how spacious the place is inside and the team is super welcoming and attentive.

Yellow curry and smallest rice ever!

The food taste was ok. Not the best ever, but good for the price. However I had two issues. One is that the Medium curry they gave us had the chili paste at the bottom of the container and it hasn't been stirred in yet. So at first it was very mild, then we noticed, stired it and then enjoyed what we ordered. Next time please stir the spice into the food. But the biggest thing is that the rice portion they gave us for takeout was ridiculously small. Smalest rice container over ever seen. In 40 plus years on the planet I didn't know a rice container this small existed. I was this many days old. It also makes no sense because rice is so cheap, just give a normal sized rice and don't be so chintzy. I might come back but will probably look for other places too.

Price is more expensive than the menu

Lunch menu states different prices and it's really higher cost when you pay. Portion of food is like a kids meal.

Ah, Thai food. How have I missed thee! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=06XeAZvi3gDd_PQ8TcsDYQ&userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA Formerly Thai Basil many moons ago, when 7 Seas Tropical Fish was the main tenant of the plaza, The Basil bangs out delicious Thai food at a affordable price. Stopping by for lunch, I perused Thai Basil's $10.95 lunch specials (additional for beef/shrimp/brown rice/fried rice), and chose pad thai. Being the national dish of Thailand, it's the de facto bar which all Thai restaurants can be judged by. Lunch Special Pad Thai https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=CjZOfvm46Vqu5PdCtzUuAw&userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA Tangy & bright, which good pad thai should be. The generous amount of food was pleasing to my tummy. I relished each forkful of noodles. The included vegetable egg roll was crunchy, whereas the salad was a typical iceberg lettuce salad. At $10.95, this meal was a bargain. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=hxspdJzIjRY91FqwPagC9w&userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA Service was good. The food didn't take long, at all. Ample seating via booths & tables, The Basil shares a private parking lot, and is locate on the right of The Donut Place. With prices rising on just about everything, The Basil's $10.95 lunch specials are a sight for sore eyes & stomachs. I was thoroughly impressed by their pad thai, and am looking forward to frequenting the restaurant more, as Thai food is one of my favorite cuisines, and I always wonder why I don't partake of it more often? Knowing the $10.95 price may not last long, considering everything going on in the world, I plan on taking advantage of it often & again. Highly recommend!

So, I've been coming to this location since 1997. I bought an old school discount book and Thai Basil was in it. I got hooked on Pad See Ewe (that's my favorite Thai dish). My family would come on Sunday's after church and enjoy dinner. The owner and his family would also be in the dining room enjoying their meal. My kids loved the cashew shrimp and fried rice. Though I have continued to visit throughout the years, the restaurant has now changed ownership. On the positive side, the portions are good and the value is good. The food has changed. The Pad See Ewe was tasty but super oily. They use to have chips with sweet and sour sauce- they don't have this anymore so I ordered the fried wontons. The wontons were super greasy as if they did not drain the oil before plating them. The sweet and sour sauce is a different color too. I just wish the Pad See Ewe tasted the same. The service is still good and the restaurant has had some simple upgrades. Not sure if I will be back. Maybe just for the nostalgia of what was- Family, Food and A Full Heart.

A portion of white rice that is so tiny, that the container fits INSIDE a 1 cup measuring cup.

Extremely small portions for the price. I have never seen such a tiny portion of white rice with a curry. About enough for 4 big bites? I have had many family dinners at this restaurant over decades, but recent changes have made this delivery order ridiculous. Very disappointed, because while the food is delicious the portions for delivery are laughable.

We got the sample appetizer, good variety and very good. We got 3 plates, Chinese broccoli with crispy pork, pineapple shrimp ginger curry, and garlic and pepper with chicken. All were fresh and very good. We will be back.

There's loads of amazing Thai places in Long Beach but you tend to go you the ones you like. I been to a good amount where they're highly rated but something about them isn't what I'm looking for. Some tends to be very Americanize, others are just whatever but people love them. I like what I like and this place is one of them. Like mentioned, whenever I'm in Long Beach a visit here is always a must. The service is amazing as all the staffs are very friendly and welcoming. The place isn't that big but a fairly decent amount of seating on both side. They do have a table out front but it's only one. Menu has pretty much a good selection of Thai dishes. I like what I like and tend to go for the same items as they are one of the place that makes it the way I prefer. And why is it some Thai places don't offer their classic dish, the boat noodles. I've been to a few and they don't offer it while some places, it's not that good. Here, it's alway consistent and very flavorful. That a must for me and alway ordered. We also love the papaya salad which you can have Thai style or Laos style. Depending on what your preference is. Their larb is great as well. Very flavorful and tasty. Of course our main items we tend to get here, the boat noodles which I love as it's flavorful, broth is perfect and all the extras added. Also all their curries are excellent. Lately we've been getting their massaman curries which the flavors is really nice. Whatever protein you like. The curries do come with a side of rice but an extra order is alway needed. Love it to have with the papaya salad and larb. All their dishes are great and very flavorful. Spice level varies on what you like but I tend to go with medium and add all the extra spices for myself with their sauce selection. We tend to alway be full even before being asked if we wanted dessert. The food is always amazing and the staff are always friendly and sweet. There's two restaurants that's a door apart and both are great but this one takes the cake for me. It's always a must when I'm in town as I know the food will alway be delicious. Highly recommended. Heads up, parking in the area is a bitch. It's all residential so people tend to stay in or else they're going to lose their spots. Just a heads up.

Feeling under the weather, I wanted to have a big bowl of pho but try a different Viatnamese…read morerestaurant so I googled pho restaurants near me and this one popped up. Tucked away in a small older strip mall, this is an order at the counter type of place (also have one cashier as well). I ordered the veggie pho and my BFF ordered the rare brisket pho. Both were tasty and the portions were huge for the regular size (don't order the large unless you are sharing). No fountain drinks are available as everything is canned or bottled. You can get bottled water for 1.00; however, water with ice and cups is provided gratis. Overall, a great place just not as authentic as some other Viatnamese restaurants but I still enjoyed it.

Long overdue journal about this joint! Came to LBC's Cambodian new year festival at the community…read morecollege and had such a great time seeing all the locals and culture. We've never been before and it was nice. We really wanted to feast it up at the stalls but the lines were so long and it was so hot. Thankfully we found this amazing gem! This place is strictly CASH ONLY. So please come prepared. We came and it was a full mad house. Lines and parking was full I knew that's when we were going to get a great meal. Came with my mom and we DEF ordered more food than we can take on. My mom hasn't had Cambodian food in a while so we def made people wonder why we ordered so much lol Food was so savory and delicious. Seating is limited hopefully they can expand. I think they deserve it as a lot of people raved about their dishes. Service was friendly as well and short staffed due to the holiday. All patrons were really understanding of that. I would def come back again or wishes I wasn't so far so I can DoorDash this!

All kinds of mixed feelings after dining here…read more The good: The young man who took our order was super friendly, welcoming and accommodating! The student noodles with pork was delicious! The iced coffee was solid. The bad: The women who work here were a lot less friendly. The tables were so close to one another that we couldn't sit across from one another. Food also took an incredibly long time to come out even though we only ordered two dishes--student noodles and beef skewers. We also had to wave down a server just to follow up on the iced coffee that I ordered, especially since this was already after the food had finally arrived. Lastly, while it was good that they had their own parking lot, exiting through the almost too narrow alley was incredibly challenging in either direction. All in all, still remain torn about returning.
