Dirty condiment sitting on the table filthy handprints everywhere food everywhere & dust

The server was really sweet and attentive, and I've eaten here before under the old management, so I didn't realize it had changed ownership because the decor is still mostly the same. I did notice the restaurant seemed a lot more cluttered and less clean than before -- random items in corners, painter's tape with handwritten labels on bottles and containers, etc. The server did a great job and was very pleasant, but unfortunately the food was not good at all this time around.

Been here plenty of times. Usually I get the vermicelli bowl and love it. Their pho has always just been so so. I got their chicken pho the other day and it was nothing like before... I really hate to use the word horrible, but it was hardly edible. Super duper salty and a really off flavor. Broth soaked into the noodle and meat, making it bad as well. Then the chicken was super dry and hard to chew. They barely gave any toppings (see pics). Overall such a loss this time! We were shocked they would service such a poor quality dish. Makes us not want to go back here, unfortunately. It was just a bit uncomfortable to say anything as you could tell my the workers demeanor it didn't feel it would've been welcome.

All around good experience. Food was great. Spring rolls were okay but the chow fun was great, really filling. Passion fruit was something new. Tajin (i think) was an interesting twist. Food took a minute but came out hot. Every part of every dish was fresh and it was obviously made to order. Vegetables were crunchy, noodles were tasty everything was steaming. The store was calm. I think it was kpop or something. Still good energy. Generally didn't expect everything to be this good. Very good option for Asian food.

Family owed. Our server was sweet and hospitable. We ordered the sea snails. Definitely something different. But, Hey! Why not right?!

Rice with seafood, shrimp and fish balls! Delicious!

The menu photo, Rice and Seafood, $19.99. Looks like it had fresh, crunchy vegetables and a lot of seafood. Beautiful presentation. Now look at the other photo. Sadly, that's what I received. I got two thin sliced carrots, two small broccolli, onions and a couple of bok choy, and two shrimp, yes, only two!! Looks nothing like the photo on the menu. It was terrible. It looks like they scooped out a small serving from a plastic bin where it was already made, and just reheated it. It was not fresh at all, overcook vegetables and hardly any seafood. It was a small serving compared to the photo. Waste of money! We won't be back.

2026 Review. 01.18.2026 2nd time here. I gave it a 5 star in 2025, today it lost 1 star.. Still my favorite Pho restaurant in the city of Lakewood. This time around ordered Pho with Ribs, Rice and Egg rolls. Nothing short on the taste and flavor. All very good! Taste is fresh. The only complaint I have for this visit is the service. Our waiter was very slow today as well as the chef. It was noon time and only a few people there. Our waters were not served until 15 minutes later. We received our foods but it took 45 mins. That is too long of a wait. Need to work on Service at a timely manner. Need to hire more workers. Lucky I was not in a rush at this visit. Plenty of parking with clean restrooms. I will come again. They close late too.

We've had pho delivered from here twice. Both times my wife has had the filet mignon pho. I've had steak and brisket, and brisket and meatballs. The food has arrived quickly and hot. All of the pho sides were included. Great service. Their pho broth is rich and quite frankly, amazing. It is not too salty at all. Lovely rich beef flavor. It's my favorite close place. Very good pho here.

I came here for lunch after leaving work to get that soul healing pho. The pho was just right! Satisfied my soul. The broth was perfect. The spring rolls came just before the pho, and they were great. The rolls were fresh and crisp. The thai tea was mostly milk, so I was sad about that. I was the only patron at the time and my water was never refilled. Other than that, it was great trying out this place. Looking forward to coming back to try their cajun items!

Found this cute little restaurant in Lakewood the food is authentic and good! Snails in coconut sauce Combination pho Crispy Noodles All were delicious. The staff is nice and welcoming

I was shocked to see this restaurant charge for something as basic as water. We were charged for both "water with lemon" and even plain ice water. Charging customers for tap water and a few lemon slices feels unnecessarily greedy, especially when we had already ordered over $85 worth of food before tax and service charge. What made it worse is that it comes across as incredibly desperate. Charging for ice water and lemon water is not something you expect from a restaurant that values customer service. It feels like an attempt to squeeze every possible dollar out of customers, no matter how small the amount. The food was okay, but these extra charges left a bad impression and made me feel nickel-and-dimed. It's not about the money--it's about the principle. Most restaurants provide water as a basic courtesy. Seeing charges for ice water and lemon water on the bill made the experience feel more focused on collecting extra fees than providing good hospitality. To top it off, an 18% service charge was already added to the bill. Between the service charge and being charged for water, the overall experience felt disappointing and unwelcoming. Unfortunately, I won't be returning because of this practice.

Pho to go-broth not hot enough.

I'm always excited then saddened when a new restaurant opens in this space, because it is very challenging for them to stay open and I really want Saigon Hoa Pasteur to make it. I was feeling under the weather and didn't want to dine out, but I wanted soup and some spice to help me feel better. I loved the food that we got: Pho with steak and flank, 9/10, then the vermicelli with egg roll and chicken, 10/10 and the Bahn Mi with pork and fries 10/10. The food was fantastic but getting it as take out was a mistake. The Pho broth wasn't hot enough to cook the beef and we had to reheat it on the stove and there was way too much packaging. There were lots of sides that were delicious, but added to the packaging. I didn't want to spread my cold, but I wish we had eaten there except for the ambiance, which was not the best. When I go out I either: read if I'm by myself, or converse with my party. I definitely do not need to see/hear cartoons screaming at me, or any news programming at all. This is not a sports bar. If you must have the televisions on, show beautiful scenes of Southeast Asia or relaxing nature with ambient music. Since there's a seafood theme even beaches and the ocean would be nice. The service was prompt and efficient. I'm sure it would be for dining in as well, which is what I would do next time, unless the TVs are showing news/cartoons. In that case I'm moving on.

Unfortunately, they didn't make it. After we came back off of lockdown, I remember driving around a two mile radius near the Cerritos Mall trying different places. They were open, but none of them served oxtail pho which is my preference for the nutrient density. Then I found Pho Pioneer, and I couldn't have been more impressed from day one. I'm a pretty low key, chill person. I prefer speakeasy vibes, quiet spaces, and traditional spots and this place checks every box. The service is great. The woman who runs the restaurant has always been incredibly sweet and welcoming. It makes a difference when you feel genuinely appreciated as a customer. I also love the art and photos on the walls, and the fish tank is a whole experience on its own. There's nothing quite like eight creepily beautiful fish judging you while you're sipping pho and recovering from a cold. Pho Pioneer has become one of my go to spots, and I'm grateful I found it.

I waited perhaps 4-5 minutes until an employee came out. I almost walked out, but ultimately, I was glad I stayed! I got the house special/ pho dac biet in the large size (13.95 vs $12.95 for a reg size). The bowl came out hot and the noodles were al dente. The ratio of meat to noodles was on par/ ideal. They were a little skimpy on the amount of noodles. The broth had a nice balance of beef and pho spice aromas and taste. It was topped with plenty of green onions and cilantro. The downside is the service, portion since that large size wasn't enough for me, and the tendons were too tough. It felt more like a regular sized bowl than a large. I couldn't hear what the employee said every time there was an interaction except at the very end when she said thank you. The restroom hallway was dark and I had to use my phone flashlight, not sure if they just turned it off to conserve energy? But it was so dark, it could've been bad. My overall take is, don't let the appearance of the place and service deter you. If you're craving pho, give this place a try! I could tell, they put some lovin' in it!

The place was empty when we went around 3pm, yet it took just under 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us. We placed our orders: *Thai Tea, no boba - apparently our server didn't put in the order, never checked on us, and therefore never arrived. *Vermicelli bowl with grilled pork and egg roll - Huge bowl of vermicelli with salad underneath, pork on top and a piping hot cha gio. The pork was so dry it was more like pork jerky, but not in a good way. It was very difficult to chew. No one ever checked on us, so we didn't have an opportunity to tell our server the meat had been overcooked to the point of inedible. That egg roll sure was good, though! *Pork and shrimp Spring roll - not bad at all, but there was precious little pork or shrimp inside. Mostly the cool vermicelli noodles. The peanut sauce was unlike any I've ever had at a Vietnamese place. It was a gloppy sauce with a tiny bit of crushed peanuts added. Usually it's like Thai satay sauce but this wasn't even close. Fortunately they had sriracha and hoisin sauce on the table. Tried to ask for check, but again, no one was paying any attention to us so I had to get up and ask for it. Remember, we were the *only* people eating at the time. We never felt like anyone cared that we were there or if we ever came back. No worries. There's lots of other good Asian choices in the area.

Updated Review: Disappointing Experience…read more I'm updating my previous review because our most recent visit unfortunately changed my overall impression of this place. I've always liked this spot as a late-night eatery, and the food itself is still good, the broth is flavorful, and the noodles and other dishes have generally been enjoyable. That's why I was especially disappointed by how our most recent visit was handled. We arrived around midnight and put our name on the waitlist. There were a few parties ahead of us, and around 12:30 AM, the host came out and explained that at that point, seating was no longer guaranteed, despite the restaurant being scheduled to close at 1:30 AM. We decided to continue waiting and were eventually seated around 1:00 AM. We ordered immediately, and our food came out shortly afterward around 1:15 AM. At exactly 1:30 AM, while we were still finishing our meal, our server came over and said that they were closing and asked if we wanted boxes for the remaining food. Technically, it was phrased as a reminder and an offer to provide boxes for our food, but the implication was very clear: we needed to leave. That was what made the situation particularly uncomfortable. We completely understood that the restaurant was closing and had no intention of staying past closing to socialize or linger. We were literally still eating the food we had just ordered around 1:15 AM. We had only been seated for about 30 minutes, ordered immediately, and were already nearly finished when the server approached us. We had also already paid our bill. The timing just left an awkward feeling. If the restaurant closes at 1:30 AM and customers who are seated close to closing are expected to be completely finished and out by that time, I think that should be communicated before seating them. It would have allowed us to decide whether waiting until 1:00 AM was worthwhile. I also understand that employees need to finish their shifts and close the restaurant on time, and I respect that. My issue is more with the overall communication and the way the situation was handled. Being seated at 1:00 AM, ordering immediately, receiving our food around 1:15 AM, and then essentially being told at 1:30 AM that it was time to leave made the experience feel rushed and uncomfortable. This isn't a review based on the food, the food is still good. It's about the overall experience and customer service during this particular visit. Unfortunately, what should have been a nice late night meal ended with an awkward feeling that stayed with us after we left. Because of this experience, I can no longer give this location the five stars I previously gave it. I hope management takes this as constructive feedback, because I do think the situation could have been handled much more smoothly and with clearer communication upfront.
