22. Grilled Pork and Egg Roll with Vermicelli
Emily L.

The food is decent, just expensive and they don't have mint at all here :/ 3/5 - Pork & Eggroll Vermicelli. Wish this had mint! The eggroll is the crunchiest egg roll I've had in the area, so I'd definitely order just this as an appetizer next time! 5/5 - Oxtail Pho. Doesn't come on the actual bone but you do get a decent amount of meat and it's a lot easier to eat this way. The meat was phenomenal, and I love how there's so much green onion in this!

Came on New Year's Day. We wanted Pho but ended up getting other dishes! The pork and eggroll vermicelli was pretty filling and felt like a complete meal with noodles, meat, veggies and savory fish sauce. The grilled chicken and rice special was tasty with the lemongrass mouthfeel and pickled veggies to round it out. The included soup was a bit salty though as it was the broth for pho. Ample parking in the strip mall lot with the 99 Ranch grocery store.

Broth is very good. I like the slightly thicker onions. I think the price difference from regular size to large was a bit high compared to other places. Regular was $18, large $22.

We've gotten Pho2000 a few times but it seems like every time it doesn't quite hit the mark. Some things were pretty good, but always hampered by something else that was not good at all. The egg rolls were nice and crispy and the grilled pork and shrimp vermicelli was pretty tasty as well. However, the shaken beef was probably the worst I've ever had. It was full of fillers and barely had any meat and the sauce didn't take anything like what shaken beef should taste like. The springs rolls were also bad. Loosely wrapped and fell apart after the first bite, and lacking in flavor, though the sauce it comes with is good. I mainly ordered delivery so I can't speak to the service, but the location yields a large parking lot and several other restaurant options nearby.

I walked in for lunch today as I was craving some pho (I know right? Who would eat hot food while it's 92 degrees). I was welcomed in by Deb, she quickly sat me down and explained the menu and their updated pricing. I was surprised at how affordable and delicious the food was! Their spring rolls were delectable and the pho was amazing, make sure you stop in and check it out. Thanks Deb for making my experience a great one!

Let me preface this by saying we walked in on a rainy day and were greeted quickly, while we intended to have Pho we were informed that the Vegan option wasn't available. My family and I don't eat Beef or Pork so that made things a bit more difficult. After looking over the menu we saw plethora of options with shrimp, chicken, and vegetables. We decided on the Shrimp Fried Rice, Shrimp Vermicelli, and Vegetable and Chicken with Steamed Rice. Everything was very flavorful, and I thoroughly enjoyed the fried rice. I recommend stopping in if you want a nice meal with good service.

7/20/23 Yes....on a hot day, hubby decides to try the Spicy Korean Ramen while I have my usual #22 Bun (grilled pork & egg roll) I was going to have pho with tendon but I really wanted something fresh. The cool lettuce & pickled veggies did it for me. It sure hit the spot! Hubby ordered the new Spicy Korean Ramen. For $11 it looked tiny & underwhelming. He was pleasantly surprised when he found dumplings in the soup. He bit into it, thinking it was a little cool, but burnt his tongue and lip when he bit into the dumpling as it burst in his mouth! Granted, it was flavorful & delicious, but hot damn, he said it'll leave a mark lol. The ramen was nothing spectacular, it reminded me of the usual Maruchan noodles from the package. The broth was good, spicy. He said he'll order it again next time. Highly satisfying because I've been craving some of this food.

Great pho place with nice bamboo decor. I felt so relaxed sitting in this restaurant. The pho and vermicelli salad are great and worth trying. Their rice plates have rice that is better than most Asian restaurants I've been too. It's very tender! The ice shaved dessert was a bit too sweet for me but the free tapioca dessert was just perfect. Quick service and friendly staff.

Oxtail pho

I came here the other day and got seated right away. I like how the place closes later since a lot of pho places tend to close super early. I ordered the oxtail pho and although this place is pricey, the portion size is huge. I ended up taking home enough leftovers that could make a full second meal! The oxtail was super tender and flavorful. The broth in the pho wasn't overly oily and had a good salty flavor. Definitely hit the spot. Plenty of parking in a parking lot outside.

The overall mood is so chill, making it the perfect comfort spot to unwind, relax, and just enjoy a fantastic meal. The pho here is top-tier with a rich, deeply flavorful broth and fresh ingredients, but honestly, the staff is what makes it really special. At this point, it feels less like a standard restaurant transaction and more like visiting close friends; the waiter lady is always so warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive, even during rush hour and she is the only person working. Unfortunately, they didn't make it. After we came back off of lockdown, I remember driving around a two mile radius near the Cerritos Mall trying different places. They were open, but none of them served oxtail pho which is my preference for the nutrient density. Then I found Pho Pioneer, and I couldn't have been more impressed from day one. I'm a pretty low key, chill person. I prefer speakeasy vibes, quiet spaces, and traditional spots and this place checks every box. The service is great. The woman who runs the restaurant has always been incredibly sweet and welcoming. It makes a difference when you feel genuinely appreciated as a customer. I also love the art and photos on the walls, and the fish tank is a whole experience on its own. There's nothing quite like eight creepily beautiful fish judging you while you're sipping pho and recovering from a cold. Pho Pioneer has become one of my go to spots, and I'm grateful I found it.

I ordered the rotisserie chicken along with the Bo Ne (the sizzling skillet with eggs and filet mignon), and wow... that combination was ridiculously good. I've had it at both locations, and it's always rich, refreshing, and the perfect complement to the meal. What really makes Garlic & Chives stand out, though, is the service. We ordered the toothpick lamb dish as well which was so good. No funk and no musk which I'm very sensitive to. I tend to avoid lamb all together but actually really liked this. I also had the Bo loc lac and it was tender and seasoned well. Everything tasted great!!

We were craving some warm pho on a cold night, and Soup Shop sounded like the perfect spot. The plaza Soup Shop is located in is usually super crowded, but if you go after 9pm when most of the other restaurants and shops are closed, you'll find plenty of parking. Write your name down on the waiting list at the front podium and then wait for your name to be called. They have a few seats to wait right outside the door. Once we were seated, we were given menus. I really like that their menu has a lot of large photos of the dishes, so you know what you're getting! Once we ordered, the food came out pretty quickly despite being busy. For appetizers, we ordered the Crunchy Pork "Bao" since it sounded unique. Inside the bao is pork shoulder, mushroom, Vietnamese sausage, and quail egg. The outside has a thin, perfectly crispy layer that gives a nice little crunch when you bite into it. Really enjoyed these and would recommend! We also got the Crusted Parmesan Cauliflower. Not sure what's in the sauce, but it's sweet, tangy, and delicious! It's also topped with fried onion, cilantro, cucumber, and parmesan cheese. Also a winner! For entrees, we got the Chicken Pho and the Pho Ribeye. For the chicken Pho, you can get it with thigh or breast meat. I got it with breast meat, and they gave a good amount of meat! A little dry, but I appreciated that it was nice and lean. The flavor of the soup is really good. Pho Ribeye was also tasty! Hit the spot.

So you're paying more for less good food. I would hope they read my reviews and go back to how they served big bowls of yummy pho with great ingredients. I know food is expensive but they've already increased their prices to offshoot current inflation. SO GO BACK TO HOW YOU USED TO SERVE PHO.
