The best late night comfort food! Soup Shop has good food, and they're open late. It's no wonder there's always people waiting for a table outside. We were craving some warm pho on a cold night, and Soup Shop sounded like the perfect spot. The plaza Soup Shop is located in is usually super crowded, but if you go after 9pm when most of the other restaurants and shops are closed, you'll find plenty of parking. Write your name down on the waiting list at the front podium and then wait for your name to be called. They have a few seats to wait right outside the door. Once we were seated, we were given menus. I really like that their menu has a lot of large photos of the dishes, so you know what you're getting! Once we ordered, the food came out pretty quickly despite being busy. For appetizers, we ordered the Crunchy Pork "Bao" since it sounded unique. Inside the bao is pork shoulder, mushroom, Vietnamese sausage, and quail egg. The outside has a thin, perfectly crispy layer that gives a nice little crunch when you bite into it. Really enjoyed these and would recommend! We also got the Crusted Parmesan Cauliflower. Not sure what's in the sauce, but it's sweet, tangy, and delicious! It's also topped with fried onion, cilantro, cucumber, and parmesan cheese. Also a winner! For entrees, we got the Chicken Pho and the Pho Ribeye. For the chicken Pho, you can get it with thigh or breast meat. I got it with breast meat, and they gave a good amount of meat! The meat portions were lacking and we subbed out one protein for another in the combo pho and were charged a Fee for swapping. The pictures looked nothing like the food that was served. Its one of those Pho places that closes at 1:30am so if you get that late-night craving and cant find a Pho that open...well... this one is. I took a pic that im attaching and hopefully you can see it. 2... a Super Busy Dine in restaurant that remained open but with a Not Working Bathroom.. thats a Health Code Violation and everyone knows that.. they should have switched to take out under California Law but remained Open for Busy Dine in. When asked about the Bathroom.. they said they weren't going to be able to get it fixed until Tommorow and I know theres plenty of 24 hour Bathroom Plummers but they just chose to make business over following the Law. It was good but I am more of a fan of their brisket. My friends and I also ordered the cajun garlic fries for the table and they were delicious. It came with a sauce which was a great surprise, very light spice but it was delicious. My personal favorite item of the day was their passion fruit juice. It was easy to get a table on a Monday afternoon around 3pm--thankfully it wasn't too busy yet. The first time we went was during thier soft opening, I didn't really like thier broth nor noodles as the broth was very cilantro heavy and the noodles were really stiff even after sitting in the broth for a while. Last night we went back to give it another chance as maybe that soft opening day was a fluke. It was not. The waiter that took our order had only gotten our drinks correct. I ordered a Brisket Pho and they gave me a Combonation Pho - even placed it down saying it was the Brisket Pho. My partner ordered a combonation pho with extra ribeye and extra noodle, he got the add-ons but they had replaced his rice noodles in his soup for the garlic noodle pasta that they use in the other dishes. He did not ask for this. At first we thought they gave him an egg noodle replacement - after looking back at the menu, there is no such replacement. The noodles themselves were soggy and overinflated as they are not supposed to be in a broth. The wait staff also ignored us the whole meal, did not check in to ask if everything was alright but they would ask the tables around us. Came here with my husband since the weather has been chilly and was craving some pho. We had to wait for about 30-45 minutes to get seated. We ended up ordering the pho ribeye which comes with unlimited noodles (they usually bring it out to you when you've eaten throughout your soup and when you ask your server). Out of all the businesses that exist in this small plaza in Cerritos, Soup Shop has to be one of the best. Walking up to the front of the restaurant, I felt a little uncomfortable because there were so many people waiting for a table outside. I put name down for two and was told it would be a 25 minute wait but didn't even end up waiting the whole 25, they had the table ready pretty quick. After sitting down, we both ordered our pho and the food was out in less than ten minutes. I had the combination and my friend ordered the oxtail with a bone on the side. They were both amazing. Considering the price you pay, which most of the pho bowls here are over 15$, the portion makes it absolutely worth it. On top of that, you get unlimited noodle refills to eat with your soup. The restaurant is very stylish, modern, and aesthetically pleasing, and everything looked extremely clean and well-kept. It feels more upscale than your typical pho spot. Honestly, this place is very close to a five-star experience. The only thing holding it back for me is the price. After tax and tip, the total for two people came out to around $63, which feels a bit high for a vegetable pho and a rare beef pho.
