If you want to try authentic Thai food CanCoon is the one! I've been coming to eat here on and off for years but life got me so busy going to different places and many choices to eat. So today I decided to bring a friend out to try authentic Thai food and Can Coon did not disappoint us at all. I ordered Nam Kao Tod : Crispy rice with ground pork ,ginger, peanut I ordered not spicy B/C my friend can't handle the heat. Thai flavors are like how I experienced in Thailand so flavorful they made it just right. My favorite dish. Nuah Num Tok: It's beef salad with roasted rice lime juice red onions I asked to cooked the steak medium rare and it came out perfect Chinese Broccoli with Crispy Pork: this dish is my all time favorite. Crispy Pork was nice and crispy not chewy not hard at all Can Coon knows how to make this dish so well. Chinese Broccoli was not over cooked it was fresh and crunchy. Last dish was a Thai Menudo soup Or #45 Tom Kreong Nai The beef was so tender melt in my mouth, tribes was crunchy not over cooked we loved it with a hint of limes I added more of chilies powder B/C Thai food is all about the heat and spicy. The Thai Lady that took care of us is super sweet and friendly She's very attentive always keeps my glass full. She makes sure we got everything we need and with smile too. The restaurant is very clean no trash on the floor no stain or food left on the table. The Ambiance was nice and quiet not too loud we can have a normal conversation without yelling at each other. Great location. The servers are on top of taking orders right away and the portions are good. I enjoyed their Thai tea and thought it was super creamy. Ordered a chicken pad thai to go from this business and it was ready for me sooner than the quoted 15 minutes, which was awesome. When I opened the container at home, I noticed that the noodles looked a little dry, which was odd because I don't live far from the restaurant. Regardless, the pad Thai was still pretty appetizing. Can-Coon Thai Restaurant is hands down one of the best Thai spots in the Bellflower area!The food is always fresh, flavorful, and authentic. Some of my go-to dishes are the egg rolls, Thai beef jerky with sticky rice, grilled pork salad, yellow curry, Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, veggie stir-fry, and the crispy pork with Chinese broccoli--seriously SO good. Ordered a mild spice chicken Pad Kee Mao for takeout, my order was ready within 5 minutes. Service was friendly. The noodles were pretty decent! Only thing is I wasn't expecting bean sprouts which definitely messed with the flavors for me. Also, felt like the portion was on the smaller side for $14. As a semi-frequent customer, I highly recommend this place for those that want to go outside of standard Thai dishes. They have 2 versions of papaya salads, while both are definitely delicious, I gravitate to the Laos version with raw crab. Another go to dish, Koi Koong, raw marinated shrimp. There's no dish description on the menu but there is a picture. Absolute yumminess. Another go to dish is the Yen Ta Fo soup. It's definitely different from the soups I've had. It was a pleasant introduction to new soups. A new dish, Chinese broccoli and crispy pork over rice. I don't typically order fried rice but something said, Order Me, so I did. No regrets at all. I thought the crispy pork would have a crunch with lingering sogginess, NOPE. The pork pieces were top tier lechon pieces. Every server during every visit has been 100% with their customer service. This is a hole in a wall Thai restaurant in the middle of Bellflower that just exceeded all my expectations. Their parking lot easily gets full, depending what time you go and if it's the weekend. The restaurant is very clean with beautiful decor. Service was top notch and food was absolutely fantastic! The Chinese broccoli with crispy pork is my absolute favorite! We've only had take out from here several times. My favorite thing here is the crispy pork with Chinese broccoli over rice. My only complaint is that the pork amount seems to get smaller and smaller. My kids like the pad see ew and the crab fried rice. We've also had the chicken fried rice which was pretty good. The spicy noodles (drunken noodles) are hit or miss. Decided to give this place a shot after frequently seeing it pop up on yelp and honestly I was disappointed. I ordered the Panang Beef (medium spice level) and pork wontons. The Panang Beef had a good flavor to the curry itself, however, it was lacking in the spice department. It almost felt like there was no spice at all. Additionally, the quality of the beef is poor and the random addition of peas and carrots that you traditionally see in the freezer section in grocery stores was a massive let down. The beef itself was reminiscent of Panda Express beef and broccoli--tough texture and no flavor. The pork wontons had no flavor at all and just a thin layer of pork. Literally everything is SO flavorful-- best pad thai, pad se ew, and beef salad! .. and for those water drinkers, even the water is delish, LOL. The parking lot has plenty of parking, so that's not an issue. I ordered my food to go, but I did get to see the inside of the establishment. This place makes good food...if you know what to order. I'm sure this is true of most restaurants. Save your appetite for the good stuff and skip their tom yum soup, rad nar, and traditional Thai dishes. The best thing I tried is their fried pork (Moo Yang) and the crispy rice with ground pork (Nam Kao Tod). Their tom yum soup was watery, bland and lacked any sour, spicy, tangy, or salty flavor. Meh. The rad nar was so starchy that the gravy was super sticky and not pleasing to look at or taste...which there wasn't much of. Now the moo yang was so good that I ordered a second serving. It was crispy and lightly breaded with so much flavor. Really tasty even without the dipping sauce. The nam kao tod was delicious too. The crispy rice was fresh and perfectly crunchy, which is hard to do. The ground pork and sauce gave the dish a nice lemony sour kick to it. I would stick to the Isaan dishes of northeastern Thailand. That seems to be their specialty. Dishes like papaya salad, sticky rice, larb, grilled chicken, and of course the moo yang and nam kao tod are probably best. read more

1. PAD THAI - delicious. Flavor is right. More turmeric/tangy style 2. SAI OUA - Flavor is right but not as good as Elephant Thai in regards to the sai oua and ginger. However big difference between these two restaurants is Cancoon actually has sai oua whereas at Elephant Thai they don't have sai oua most of the time. Sai oua is labor intensive that's why it's not readily available at most thai spots. Satisfying nonetheless if you're craving that rare northern Thai sausage, because all the flavors are there ! 3. BEEF JERKY - pretty bad. Not Thai jerky but just deep fried beef. I was disappointed because flavor was too salty as well. I would not recommend the jerky here. 4. PAPAYA SALAD with shrimp - YUM YUM YUM. One of the best I've had in OC/LA area. So fresh, made right, and flavor is DELICIOUS. Their "spicy" felt like a medium (I eat spicy foods well) so you may not agree. However it was perfect nonetheless because my mouth was already burning from the three thai chilis in fish sauce I had devoured. 5. STICKY RICE - Reasonably priced. Hard to say for other restaurant charging a ridiculous price for a small portion. Sticky rice was amazing. - Has the pickled grilled chilis. - Has Thai chilis in fish sauce, but with double the amount of chilis than average restaurants.
