What an adorable little breakfast gem! I can see this spot getting quite crowded on the weekend. This restaurant is located right off the Greenway so it would be a great spot to bike to! We enjoyed breakfast out on the patio and enjoyed it despite the construction out back. I think they may be adding on a patio for more outdoor dining. We really enjoyed the biscuits and gravy and Gouda grits!

The Barn is such a quaint comfy neighborhood gem. IYKYK! Feels like going to grandmas kitchen for a home cooked casual good meal. Had a basic drip coffee and omelet and was more than satisfied with both. The omelet was cooked perfectly done, and stuffed with plenty of goodies. You can never go wrong here if you're looking for a casual spot to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and lots of view of the outdoors at every corner. Ps. Their baked goods are absolutely just like what I'd drive to grandmas for, and with friendly service to boot

fun place in a historic park setting along the grant greenway/bike path. i'd been wanting to try it and finally came with a friend. We were there on a thursday morning for brunch. we both had eggs benedict. i had the crab cakes benedict and grits, my friend had more conventional EB with ham and a side of fruit. we both had cocktails. bloody mary & mimosa. they have amazing looking homemade desserts and i took home coconut cream pie (delicious) and my friend a cinnamon roll. Our server was nice and super helpful. Food arrived in a reasonable timeline.

Great patio to enjoy on a nice day! We tried the Texan Benedict, pancakes, hashbrowns, bacon, and biscuits and gravy. The Benedict and pancakes were definitely the best parts of the meal, and the standard black coffee is the best I've had in a long time. Service was fast and good, but they unfortunately cleared some of our plates before we were completely finished and walked away too fast for us to stop them. Overall, still a nice spot for breakfast.

Great bacon and this is the plain French toast

Fast service, we had our name on the list but chose to sit on the patio on a cool morning. They had plenty of heaters so not a big deal. Actually we got warm! 2 servers working all the tables so plenty of attention and food was fast!! I also love to pay at your table with the server and machine. Patio was nice. Park near by and historic sites. Yea the construction is not pretty but they provide a QR code as I'm sure they get asked a million times. My mistake was not getting the Belgian waffles made into French toast. The option the day I was there was not a fan of so I skipped it. But I'll be back!! Great place for a casual breakfast or lunch followed by a hike afterwards.

There was a lot for parking. Service is excellent. Prompt and attentive. There's even a store upstairs. Food was good. Hash browns. 9/10. Crispy. Tasty. Sourdough. 8/10. Already buttered and toasted well. Eggs over medium. 9/10. Well cooked. OJ. 7/10. Solid. Sausage. 6/10. Good. I like it cooked more well done. Taste was fine. Bacon. 6/10. I like it crispier. But didn't request it that way either. Pancakes. 7/10. It was good. Nothing that stands out. A great breakfast overall. Service was excellent and recommend.

First impression of The Barn? Absolutely irresistible... From the moment we walked in, the customer service was top tier. The host greeted us with genuine warmth, friendly, upbeat, and welcoming in a way that instantly set the tone, customer service is everything to me and that's what stood out to me especially for first impressions. The vibe? Unmatched. The entire staff moved like a well oiled machin...very supportive, family oriented, and clearly proud of what they do as a team. Now let's talk about the food... hunnti, it did NOT disappoint. Everything came out prompt, made to order, fresh, and packed with a kick of flavor. You can taste the care in every bite. Kudos to chef. Yes, it was busy, but in the best way.... The energy in the atmosphere makes you want to stay and soak it all in, but also respecting the flow because this spot is in demand!!! If you haven't tried The Barn yet, go. Don't overthink it. You will not be disappointed!

Stopped in for a quick brunch after morning kid activities and glad we did! We got in the parking lot which had a decent amount of space and snagged the last spot open. On their site you can get on the waiting list which we did and it said 45 min wait. We got in after about 10 mins. The host was super nice and our server Colleen was a doll! We had a good time with some other people sitting near us and the food was so good and fresh! I had the special French toast which was a waffle in fresh toast batter with a strawberry shortcake topping! My husband had the Texan with a fried egg instead of poached and the Gouda grits. Sooooo good! It's the cutest place, atmosphere was super chill.

The food here is always delicious. I've seen another review in here saying they felt rushed. The place is extremely popular and not very big if the outside patio isn't open. Older folks who want to sit around and take up a table for 2 hours sipping on a cup of coffee this isn't the place for you. They want to get you in serve you a great breakfast and make room for the people waiting in line to do the same. Some of the best breakfast/brunch food in the area. Highly recommend.

This is a cute breakfast spot with a great brunch menu I found online and wanted to try before we headed out to the Ozark on our family trip. Kind'of on the outskirts of town and near some pretty parks and farmland. I really liked the quieter location and views from the back patio while we ate. They're also dog-friendly and let people's dogs on the patio. I love that they have a rotating Avocado toast on the menu and the day we were there it had brisket and sounded delicious. They have breakfast and lunch options and a ton of sides with a bunch of interesting Benedicts that sounded delicious. I ordered the egg salad BLT which was delicious and huge with the cheese grits on the side and thought it was excellent. I got a croissant and should've gotten the toast bc my husband ordered a breakfast sandwich on toast that was yummy. Coffee was OK but not excellent - a bit too watered down for my taste. We tried one of their daily pastries and had a white chocolate raspberry scone which was pretty good. There is a small gift shop upstairs with some gifts and cute items you can browse while you wait or after you eat for gifts or tchotchkes and they had mugs for sale.

The Spicy Bloody Mary....wow!
Brenda C.

Met up with 11 girlfriends for a late lunch, we were seated right away and our waitress was fantastic! She told us their specials, got our drinks (may I recommend the spicy Bloody Mary, it's excellent!). I had the BLT, very good...but the highlight...the carrot cake! HOLY CRAP, think it might be the best I have ever had....and I forgot to take a picture!!! So now I HAVE to go back....The Barn is very cute, quaint and all of the food was wonderful, they are only open till 130pm so plan accordingly....

This was our first visit to The Barn! Best thing we did was join the online waiting list via Google on a busy Sunday morning, highly recommend so you can sit right away as the inside seating area is cozy! We were greeted by Josh who was incredibly personable and made us feel very welcome, and we were shown to or table around shortly after arriving. All the staff were wonderful and very attentive! We ordered the Barn Breakfast and the Strata, both were wonderful! Food arrived 5 minutes after we ordered so we were extremely happy. We will definitely be back!

My daughter's favorite brunch option. Service is always impeccable and we love sitting outside on the patio. They have gluten-free options for my daughter. She really enjoys the gluten-free French toast and potatoes. I normally get the avocado toast special of the day. They have great homemade desserts. I usually get one to go and take some home for my husband.

We were pleasantly surprised they weren't super busy, selfishly it was nice, but I hope it's not always like that because they deserve the hype. We sat at the bar and had great service the whole time. We started with a house made Bloody Mary (it had fantastic flavor) and an espresso martini (should we say the best in the city???). A piece of candied bacon came on the Bloody Mary and I'm still thinking about it. Then the food. I got a cheeseburger and fries and it was freaking fantastic. So juicy and tender, tons of flavor, one of the top burgers in St. Louis in my opinion. My husband got a special which was a braised beef Benedict and he was VERY happy. He likes a good burger and still said his meal was the best. They plate everything so beautifully, this is like a high class culinary experience in a (clean diner) with great prices. And the small menu is very preferred because it doesn't take you an hour to decide. And the fries - so fresh and crispy. This place deserves all the love. I was so impressed with it, it doesn't look like much from the outside but it is so worth it.

It's a small diner with patio situation and we were informed there would be a wait which was fine with us. We were quickly sat at the (covered) patio on a gorgeous sunny day and enjoyed the views of people walking to see a game at Busch Stadium. Kelly was a wonderful server! Both the Bloody Mary and the Espresso Martini were excellent! The deviled eggs were a delicious appetizer. Hands down though, that biscuit breakfast sandwich was what breakfast dreams are made of! Kelly recommended the sausage which was rich and flavorful. The over-medium egg was perfection! Potatoes were well seasoned and mouthwatering. I would call this place the perfect "city slicker" diner…read more The location is on a busy street, they have a side alley that is also their patio. They are very wheelchair accessible, and they make that known. There's no moving tables or chairs to ensure this. Which is great! But it does make it very difficult to come with children who are high chair aged. It's very "self-service". There's a host/food runner who seats you and brings your food out. You order all your food on your own device off of a QR code. The menu is very eclectic, no ways to personalize and very expensive. After ordering you can tell everything is made to order so it does take a minute to get your food which I'm not knocking. But you order and tip ahead of time like it's a normal restaurant and it's just not that. I'm taking my own order so it takes a lot of the personal connection or service out of the experience. Which brings me back to being the perfect city diner. Now the food, we were actually recommended to come here because of the pancakes. Which we had gotten both the kids and regular pancakes. The pancakes comes with EVERYTHING on them while the kids pancakes have everything on the side. NOTE: they are the same exact dish, the only difference is the kids dish is the condiments on the side. As far as flavor goes. The pancakes weren't bad, they have crispy edges and fluffy centers. But you can tell they're fried in a heavy oil of sorts or butter. It reminded everyone in our party of funnel cake. It tastes like we were eating overpriced fair food. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE fair food but not for a sit down breakfast where I'm expecting AMAZING pancakes. This is a pancake shaped funnel cake. The bacon was overcooked, dry and for the price wasn't worth what we had gotten. Every piece was crumbly because it was overcooked. So if you're a soft bacon person, don't waste your taste buds. We also had gotten the sausage egg and cheese sandwich. It came on a ciabatta type bread with a side of potatoes (don't forget there's not substitutions when ordering for yourself). The sandwich was simple, came with pickled onions and homemade pickles on the side. All that to say, it's a great place if you don't cook yourself at home. If you have a small kitchen and maybe don't enjoy cooking. This place is for you. Its a good "home cooked" meal you can have. But, honestly at least to me, not worth the price. But try it for yourself! I won't be back because it's not for me, but there is a patron for this type of place and that's for the non-cooking people.

No one knew my name, though, and that was OK with me. I like my anonymity. I also like my coffee black, and they serve a good black coffee here. I was visiting Egg during the late morning, so I chose a dish that was kind of breakfast, but also not: the Chakchouka, which is a basically a shakshouka. But here! The entire menu can be made vegetarian. So 5 stars for food. Everything that we had was ah-mazing. The proportions were just enough. You'll walk out satisfied but not full. Cute ambience- a cozy feel Description of food- I love how the menu identified common allergens. When we were seated, My daughter who is gluten intolerant, explained that she has a gluten allergy. She orders the Chakchouka that is listed as GF. It came out with slices of bread. We were not sure if the bread was gf. After about 10 minutes our waiter walked past us. We flagged him down and asked if the bread was gf and he looked at us like we had 10 eyes and said "no- absolutely not" and briskly walked away.... Well why would a server bring a child bread when they knew she was gluten intolerant? Which brings me to the service- We ordered 3 coffees. One hot with almond milk, one iced with oat milk and one hot with 1/2 and 1/2. The coffee came out and 2 "milks" were placed in front of us and our waiter moved on. We had to wait 5ish minutes before our waiter walked by again to ask what the milks were. He simply said - that one is 1/2 and 1/2 then walked away. Now I get it... if he was slammed... I'd understand why he was so short... but at the time we were in there there were 2 waiters and 4 tables. He was not slammed. We also didn't get the iced coffee until we flagged down a different waiter and he exchanged a hot coffee for an iced. The "other waiter" was on his game while I think ours was on hurting to get back on his phone.

Owners Mark and Leslie are very kind, attentive, and share a lot of history of the mansion and recommendations without being obtrusive. The mansion rooms are well appointed and I would highly recommend one of their food packages. We did chocolate and wine and both were amazing at a reasonable price considering the quality (which was good). Mark is a chef by trade (second career) and makes a darn good breakfast! There are complimentary snacks coffee and tea available 24/7. Location is great. The place has a bit of a dated feel and there are some repairs/upgrades needed here and there but keep in mind Dear Traveler: this couple has only owned the place for 15 months so I'm confident minor facelifts are coming. Only VERY minor complaint, and it's only from personal taste: food although delicious is a bit carb-heavy. This is no fault of the owners and they give you plenty of opportunity prior to your stay to mention any diet preferences, which I failed to do. So no knock on FdL at all. If in St. Louis visiting or need a nice staycation check this place out!! FYI they do a great job with COVID compliance, too

The Fleur-de-Lys is the epitome of a luxurious getaway. Whether it is the quaintly appointed guest…read morerooms or the delightful library and parlor, each area of this former residence is unique and meticulously maintained. While it is not likely the norm, the owners, Mark & Leslie, met us at the front door, quite literally inviting us into their establishment. It was simply the most welcoming manner in which to be introduced to this treasure and Leslie quickly engaged us with the history of the home and how she and Mark had recently become the owners. We chose this destination based upon the significance of the Fleur-de-lis to my love, a native New Orleanian. Given St. Louis' rich French heritage, the mansion was originally outfitted with four chimneys that feature the fleur-de-lis design and the pattern is repeated throughout the home. While we enjoyed a quiet morning coffee in the back of the property, a lovely shaded patio area, she noticed how many places the symbol was present. She actually made mention to Mark & Leslie that they could make an activity out of counting/finding all of the fleur-de-lis around the home. What a fun idea! We were fortunate enough to book the Tower Grove Park room, a spacious room fitted with a king-size bed and a two-person jacuzzi tub. There is even a 'fainting couch' for that extra French touch! The bed was amazingly comfortable and the decor and accoutrements were exceptional, right down to the pocket doors and writing desk. But a B&B is set apart by the fare served in the morning, and this is where Mark, a chef by trade, and Leslie, a self-taught baker, knock it out of the park. That morning's menu included a fruit starter, fresh juice, Leslie's home-baked sourdough toast and home-baked English muffins, and Mark's egg and sausage soufflés with country potatoes. The entire breakfast had us completely over the moon! We felt so at home that we wanted to clear our own place - so we did! The rates are competitive and well worth every moment spent here. There is parking behind the property, as well as across from the property, and each guest is allowed a unique security code so as to gain entry while you are enjoying your stay. I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed this getaway, and Mark, Leslie, & assistant Sammy made us feel like family from the moment we crossed the threshold. We'll be back - and you should give Fleur-de-Lys a try!
