The service and food was fast and quick and the ambiance was nice, I don't have much complaints but after I ate my meal my stomach began to hurt. I don't know if I just got a bad meal or all the foods are like this.

Terrific little down home Breakfast spot. Perfect for a quick stop while shopping or meeting with old friends. Tucked away in a shopping strip in the beginning of Old Webster district. Food was hot and seasoned. The restaurant was packed on a late morning week day but tables and service were quick and attentive. The only thing that kept them from 5 stars is the lack of ventilation or maybe no hoods in the back of the house. Will definitely return.

The cutest cafe! We love all their food, large menus plenty of options and great staff! A must try!

Food was good. Service was ok. Honestly I felt a bit out of place. Not sure that I would go back. It wasn't a bad experience, it just wasn't great.

The Boardwalk cafe has everything you need for a good breakfast spot. Nothing too fancy, but it has a lot of character. When we walked in, the place was filled! Took us about 5 minutes to get a seat. Coffee, omelet, hash browns, and toast is what I had. Nothing over the top, but I liked the vibe. If you're looking for a local spot who does the basics right, they've got you covered!

First time coming to this dinner. I wouldn't necessarily consider this a cafe. It's def more of a dinner type feel w/o the stools at counter lol. Or an upscale Denny's . Regardless...you sit where you want which was awkward for someone coming in for the first time and everyone just looks at you until a staff tells you "sit anywhere you like". But!!!! The ladies here are all friendly, they look happy to be there and they have regulars from what I could hear (there's no music ...you can hear all the conversations around you ). The menu....so many options to pick from and the portions are very generous and pricing...well I haven't seen them that low since before Covid lol. Husband and I each ordered food, order of biscuits and gravy bc it's a must wherever I go, and two drinks and our bill was $34. We haven't seen our bill that low in a long time! The hashbrowns were cooked perfectly, crispy but not crunchy or oily. My Greek omelette was sooo good!! The biscuits and gravy....well I'm picky and always looking for the perfect gravy and this gravy was just your basic gravy...but the biscuits must've been made from scratch bc the outside were crisp and the inside so light and not dense. Actually loved their biscuits. In conclusion, I highly recommend this place for any one looking for a chill, not over priced, but good breakfast place. I def will be back to try other omelette with biscuits to go .

I had the vegetable skillet (minus peppers) w added fresh avocados. It was delish! Tge servers are always so helpful and nice. The kitchen does a great job preparing food that is tasty and satisfying. Great little neighborhood joint with a homey feel. Check out the hours.... They close at 3p

Boardwalk skillet, added spinach. So good! My son had big fluffy pancakes!

Great food. Great service. Inexpensive! It was a tough decision as there were lots of good things on the menu. Perfect sunny side up eggs and big fluffy pancakes!

Wow. Wow. Wow. Best. Hash browns. Ever! We came here due to local and it looked like a great breakfast spot. Right when we walked up you could see all the waitresses having conversations with all the regulars here. Everyone was so nice and just on top of everything! The menu has choices for everyone and is priced very fair. I ordered the Popeye omelette and my fiancé ordered the Arch Skillet. The food was so good but the hash browns were absolutely AMAZING! The flavor was top notch. The cook on them was absolutely perfect. I will be coming back here for the service and food but the hash browns are the best hash browns I've ever had! I asked the waitress if they made them a special way and she said "no, but next time you should try the fries!" Well I will be back again and again but it will be the tough decision between breakfast or lunch!

It is a Trojan horse for one of the best burgers in St. Louis (my wife says I'm being dramatic for calling it THE best; I say I am not NOT going back for another). We enjoyed everything we order: the pork belly burnt ends and cashew chicken wings, and a coffee & cardamom old fashioned that sounds like a personality disorder but tastes like a vibe, smoky, a touch sweet, and very drinkable year-round. The Sam Elliott burger, BBQ sauce, bacon, crunchy onions, brioche, is named for a man who has never disappointed anyone, and neither does the sandwich. And the meatloaf is NOT your grandma's brick: tender, charred at the edges, laid over silky mashed potatoes with broccolini, perhaps closer to a chop steak than a loaf in the best possible way. Vibe is farm-chic: old church pews, repurposed interior doors, a proper bar up front, plus a patio and rooftop for when the weather cooperates. Fun fact -- it's named after the blue duck Billy Madison paints in elementary school, which is a fantastic piece of trivia and tells you absolutely nothing accurate about the actual restaurant. 4.7 Stars. Picking Nits: the counter-order setup is efficient, but it sets expectations in the wrong direction for the first 90 seconds, you brace for fast-casual and instead get something considerably more ambitious. Food comes out fast once you've ordered, which is great if you're hungry and slightly jarring if you wanted a slow, lingering dinner. And the Billy Madison naming is charming trivia but entirely misleading as a vibe preview, no complaints about the actual restaurant, just the branding expectations it sets. If The Blue Duck were a character: Ron Swanson. Hear me out. If Ron ate here, he'd be suspicious of the entire experience until his first bite of protein -- the counter ordering, the repurposed doors, a burger named after a fellow mustachioed American, all of it registering as potentially too clever. Then the Sam Elliott hits his plate, he takes one bite, and the skepticism dissolves into the quiet respect of a man who has found his people. Looks rustic. Has strong feelings about meat. Secretly sophisticated -- plays saxophone in a jazz club under a fake name, builds his own furniture, would 100% approve of the farm-chic decor once the protein has spoken. Presents as simple. Isn't.

The only real warmth we encountered came from the female host; the rest of the staff delivered service that hovered somewhere between disinterested and "we're doing you a favor by being here." We kicked things off with the fried deviled eggs, which arrived neither fried nor particularly deviled -- just cold little reminders that hope is fleeting. Cocktails landed squarely in "General Public" territory. My Squatty Potty showed up lukewarm, like it had been loitering at the bar contemplating its life choices instead of making it to the table piping hot. A chicken Caesar salad was perfectly fine... if you enjoy playing hide-and-seek with the chicken. The breakfast burger came on an English muffin with what might be the most emotionally unavailable portion of hash brown casserole I've ever seen -- tiny, distant, and gone too soon. Then there's the Scream Burger. Marketed as ghost-pepper spicy, priced like it's the main event, and delivered with all the heat of a polite Midwestern handshake. Dry, bland, and somehow bold enough to charge me an extra dollar for more mayo -- because nothing says "premium burger experience" like a condiment upcharge to make it edible. My husband's Pork Pountine? Imagine fries sprinkled with a few bacon bits like confetti at a party nobody wanted to attend. We came in excited because Eat Crow in Soulard sets the bar high. Unfortunately, Crows Nest feels like it's cooking for someone driving in from Chesterfield who asked the kitchen to "tone it down." If you're craving the real deal, do yourself a favor: go to Soulard. This nest still needs a lot more feathers. And to the influencers calling this place "amazing" -- do better. Honest, authentic reviews help restaurants grow and help diners know what they're walking into. Stop selling hype and start telling the truth.

If you're eating in the winter, try to avoid eating by the door ... unfortunately my biscuits and gravy were a bit cold the last time I ate there because the wind kept blowing in when people were checking in at the hostess stand. But that's okay because the Posole was steaming! Tables larger than 6 are going to have a longer wait time in the winter. In nicer weather, the outdoor patio is great to enjoy a meal in. I had my first dinner of my stay at Olive + Oak, and it blew me away from the moment I laid my eyes on it. From the unsuspecting street outside, the giant windows glow with the warm, sparkling light from within. An elegant dining room with a beautiful bar and a good amount of hustle and bustle. I felt like I was at an upscale New Orleans joint. Very cozy. Service was just as beautiful. Our server was extremely nice, new the menu backwards and forwards, and rattled off the nightly specials without hesitation. And on top of all of that, when we were getting some stuff to-go, she threw in more bread for us! You can't train that level of service. That's just a good person. Onto the food. We started off with the Blue Crab Gratin (calabrian chili, celery + pretzel bread). This was ooey, gooey, cheesy, delicious, had a fair amount of crab in it, had a nice little kick, and the sliced, crunchy pretzel bread dippers were exquisite. Something seasonal that isn't on their menu anymore, we ordered an Okonomiyaki, which is a savory Japanese pancake, basically, covered in sauce. Wow, this thing was done well. Very reminiscent of the authentic thing I've had in Japan. Very nice. Another dish that isn't on the menu anymore, the Catfish dish. It was slightly Asian and on top of some sort of risotto rice. I can't remember exactly, but I do remember that it was very well cooked, had a nice char. An eclectic dish that came together very nicely. I also got to try some of the Rabbit Crepe (port wine braised rabbit, blueberry, fennel, arugula + kenny's bleu gouda crepe). Some people might shudder at the idea of eating rabbit. Those people need to grow up. Rabbit is one of the most succulent, delicious meats out there, and in this wonderful flavor combination, in a crepe. This chef is genius. I could have downed two of these things. We finished off the night with the recommended Cloud Cake (vanilla chiffon cake, coconut pastry cream, coconut + whipped cream icing). This thing was de-ca-dent. A nice, thicc sponge, a very coconuty cream, and a whipped icing with lots of coconut pulp in it. So heavenly. Overall, my socks were blown off. Not only does St. Louis have good food, this was a better meal than I had in Nashville and Kansas City. Who would have guessed. I would love to come back.

Their food came first while mine came later. I sampled a piece of the gyro meat and it was quite tasty but had a taco flavor, which I found odd considering we were at a Greek restaurant! I recently stopped by after an appointment in STL. It was right at lunch time and it was also, opening day for the Cardinals. So when I entered, the line to order was already long. To my surprise, the one lady taking orders, moved that line quickly. So I give her major kudos. When it was turn to order, I was ready. I went with a Double and swapped out the American Cheese for Pepper Jack. For my side, I tried their Salt&Pepper Onion Rings. After ordering, I took my number stick and took a seat at the bar. Once seated, the bartender welcomed me and I ordered a draft beer. I barely had completed my Wordle and my burger basket was being slid in front of me. Before taking my first bite, I admired the crisp edges and actually ran my finger around them. My first bite was heaven. It proved to me that all a good smash burger needs is; ketchup, mustard, onion and pickles. The Onion Rings were made in house and the simple seasoning of Salt & Pepper made them a winner. While dining at the bar, I learned a new trick. If you're going to be sitting at the bar to enjoy your smash burger, you can order it from the bartender. That's right, no standing in line to order, you can go straight to the bar. Great staff. They all hustle and provide friendly and professional service.
