    Ramen cooking Yum!
    Mindy P.

What a fun experience! Now that I understand the flow of the restaurant, I cannot wait to go back and not mess it up! I'll set the scene, late lunch with girlfriends. None of us had been before and apparently we all need directions told to us 25 times. I wanted to try literally everything. On my social media I had seen a lot of talk about the rice crispy fried chicken and these ramen bowls with toppings, so this is why I talked my girlfriends into coming with me so I could try more food. When we entered, we were given the run down, pick the Ramen, pick the toppings, come back pay and get instructions. I do wish the toppings were labeled a little bit better, but now that I asked all of my questions, I know my next bowl will be top notch. First thoughts on the rice crispy chicken, I thought it was going to be sweeter. That being said, it was an ok covering for the chicken, the best part of the chicken is that each piece was cooked to perfection, juicy and super hot. I also loved the yumyum sauce it was exactly what I wanted, sweet and a bit spicy. Lastly we also tried the SDSD, apparently I love rice cakes, I could eat those ALL DAY LONG but then I would not be filling out my food pyramid. They also had yumyum sauce on them, I could also consume a lot more of that than I need to.

A new spot in the former home of Mom's Deli. I loved the Tikki Hut bar inside and outside! Neither were in use when I was in but interested to see what they will be used for. Upon entry, the service counter is to the left and the middle is pretty open with a couple tables to sit and enjoy your selections, to the right are the machines for create your own Ramen. Very interesting, pretty cool concept. All the instructions are there for you to do this on your own. They have a small hot bar, a Ramen wall, a cold case, and Chicken 7 walk up. We got a chicken bowl, with corn and lettuce and sauce, it was flavorful and hot. There was a Korean Hot Dog ordered but I am not a hot dog person, so I didn't try it. It looked very cute, though. Guy behind the counter was helpful. Can't wait to return when I will make my own Ramen

Back at Cafe Ganadara getting aggressively loved through food again. I ordered a couple things like a fool. Fish katsu crispy perfection and my forever favorite tuna gimbap. They also have a whole create your own ramen bar. And somehow, despite all that, they still kept feeding us. At this point I'm not a customer, I'm family. Send help. Or don't. Grabbed a brownie for later but let's be honest, it's now a bargaining chip. Power moves only.

Absolutely loved seeing Cafe Ganadara in a new space and how they have reimagined their menu. Love the addition of the ramen making stations and I will be back to try that out. For this visit, we just focused on their hot food, prepared food menu. We ordered their beef bibimbap, spam rice ball, tuna gimbap, and cinnamon pancake - hotteoke. Everything was incredible and we still think about how simple yet delicious the spam rice ball was. Service was great and they even help you navigate the ramen making stations. Our food was also out quickly.

Cafe Ganadara re-opened and better than ever! Located where Mom's Deli used to be! They brought their Chicken Seven and now they have a Ramen Library! Bulgogi, Pork, Chicken, and more! Yay! We tried their Fish Katsu, Soy garlic chicken, soup dumplings, and 2 ramen. They also have variety of Korean Pocket drinks and your choice of Boba. Friendly family owned business. Great seating outside patio Street parking (free)

We didn't try the ramen, but it was a ramen bar where they were packages of instant ramen where you pick items to put in. Service was great and friendly! We got Korean fried chicken - tasted great, I'm just picky about dark meat.. Korean corn dog was so interesting, didn't expect to like it because it's a strange concept. Mozzarella cheese in a corn dog crust with sugar. It was actually very good

I will start with the don'ts so I can end with a positive note. The absolute don't for a better experience. Do not order any 'grab and go' unless you enjoy microwave meals. There is no real proper way to heat up this to go meal. If you try to consume it as it is served, you will end up with clumps of fatty oil mixed in with the vegetables. If that's not enough to deter you, at least you have been warned. Now the do's. Do order the wings and nothing else. You may be tempted to order rolls/wraps, but that's a dime a dozen in the greater StL area (not a unique experience). The wings here are crispy and flavorful. The fried chicken is good here. Since moving to this location, they have changed their business model - this is now a self service type. Street parking.

Located in the spot where "Moms deli" used to be . Lots of street parking . Cute ambience . Mostly outdoor seating . LOVE the DIY ramen wall with all the toppings . Cant wait to be back to try that .The bibimbap was good, the gimbap and boneless spicy fried chicken were amazing ! The lemonade boba and taro drink were gray . Service was friendly and efficient!! Can't believe this is my first visit and can't wait to be back

I found out about Cafe ganadara after watching an Instagram reel about their cool ramen station and machines and was excited to check it out for lunch today. It's a hole in the wall with fried Korean chicken, packaged ramen, boxed lunches, japchae, and fun street food! I ordered the japchae and 2 hotteok which are warm sweet pancakes filled with cinnamon and sugar and nut filling. Everything tasted super fresh and authentic and my friends tried out the donkatsu lunch box and the kimbap rolls. They have a few vegetarian and vegan options too. I'll be back soon !

Love the updated concept of a food court with Chicken 7. It was nice to see the owners in their element again and the additional menu items are soooo good. Seating is mostly outside now, and it's fun to see the old Mom's deli reimagined. My partner loved it, and he's so excited to come back. Really excited to come back again.

Nice lunch at Cafe Ganadara at their new location on Jamieson Avenue and dined on a Korean beef bulgogi in a bento-style box that was delicious. I must admit this restaurant perplexed me a bit with different options including preparing your own ramen from a machine (I guess!) with a choice of different additions to your ramen bowl but decided to order the bulgogi bento box from the counter and an ice tea and ate outside on the patio outside that has limited seating but was a nice day anyway and uncrowded at lunch time. I enjoyed my food thoroughly since I love Korean food especially after living in the Far East of Asia for a few years and the food tasted as authentic as I would get there. Friendly counter service and not much ambiance but the porch was nice to sit and dine.

Thinking this is the new Chicken 7? They have a lot of things alluding to our beloved old chicken 7.. the tapokki sausage is our awesome. The Korean corn dog is also excellent. The favorite is the rice crispy chicken, such a simple concept but sooo good. It's a cute little spot, has indoor an outdoor seating right on Hampton. The atmosphere is very very quiet, almost whisper when talking kind of quiet. They had music videos playing the other time we went, so it was less quiet at least. Everyone who works there is nice and helpful, we've never had any complaints!! If you're thinking of going, GO!

I had the bulgogi beef gimbap. It is wrapped in seaweed. There's a bit of sesame oil drizzled in the roll. I was also given a spicy noodle soup that wasn't on menu. It was really nice and spicy! It's a small place that can probably seat 20-25 people and a small outdoor seating area. They have boba tea that I wanted to try, but unfortunately they didn't have any today. Apparently they have several different sweets you can try as well. The service was prompt. I will be back to try this place again. I'm updating this review as they're at this new location that used to be mom's deli. Had the kimchi bulgogi Bimbap. My wife and I split it. It was probably not a great idea for us to do that because it wasn't enough food. What we ate though was quite good. They have self serve Ramen stations as well.

A Great Hole-in-the-Wall Korean Spot…read more I was really in the mood for Korean food, and as Korean culture has become more mainstream, I've noticed that some Korean restaurants have started to feel a bit commercialized. As someone who cooks Korean food myself and spent time living in Korea, sometimes you just want a simple, authentic, no-frills spot that focuses on the food. Thankfully, Asian Kitchen Korean Cuisine, located at 8423 Olive Blvd., St. Louis, MO, delivered exactly that. I knew I was probably in the right place as soon as I walked in and was greeted by one of the owners, whose direct and no-nonsense personality reminded me of many family-run restaurants I've visited over the years. It gave the place a lot of character. I kept my order simple and went with the beef bulgogi, while my sister ordered the chicken bulgogi. Both came with rice and kimchi. We also shared an order of vegetable potstickers, which were fried perfectly. Everything was delicious. The food had a homemade quality that felt comforting and authentic. The bulgogi was flavorful, the kimchi was satisfying, and the potstickers were easily one of the highlights of the meal. We ordered everything to go, so unfortunately I didn't get any photos, but the food definitely spoke for itself. One thing to keep in mind is that there may be a bit of a wait, but that's because the food is prepared fresh. If you're willing to be patient, it's well worth it. Overall, if you're looking for solid Korean food in the St. Louis area and don't mind a straightforward, family-run atmosphere, Asian Kitchen is a great choice. 4 out of 5 stars.

I was going to get omurice, but it's no longer on the menu so they need to either put it back on the menu or take the photo of that dish down near the entrance. I'm Korean and grew up with Korean food in Chicago, so I know what the real thing tastes like, and this is the real thing. I got the soondae stew and it completely hit the spot. The flavor profile was so authentic and satisfying!! Came out boiling still, so fresh. The banchan selection was great too and the waitress was really sweet about bringing more if you wanted. My only small note is that I wished the side dishes came out a little earlier rather than alongside the main food, because I was starving by the time everything arrived! But that's a minor thing. There's also a karaoke spot right next door that I heard gets pretty lively at night. TLDR: Good Food, But A Lot of Red Flags…read more I had been wanting to try Shabu Day for a while and finally made it out. The food was honestly really good -- but there is a lot this place needs to fix before I can fully recommend it. The first thing that hit me when I walked in was the smell. And not in a good way. It smelled like a sewer. Not what you want when you are about to sit down and eat. It lingered the entire time we were there and was really hard to get past. The front of the restaurant looks okay at first glance. But once you sit down you start noticing things. The tables are wobbly and clearly rigged up with makeshift fixes. Extension cords are running visibly across the floor which looks bad and feels unsafe. The menus and sauce bottles were sticky -- like they had not been wiped down in a long time. Little things like that add up fast. I caught a glimpse of the back of the house and it looked grimy and dirty. That is a problem at any restaurant, but especially at a place where you are cooking your own food right at the table. The staff were not very welcoming either. They were hard to find when you needed something and did not seem very interested in making sure you were having a good time. Now here is the thing -- the food was actually fresh and delicious. The broth was flavorful and the ingredients were good quality. That part genuinely impressed me. But for the price they are charging? The total package is just not there yet. Good food can only carry a restaurant so far. They need to clean things up -- literally -- before I come back. UPDATE: One more thing worth mentioning that I think is really important. Shabu Day is strictly all you can eat -- and that is the only option they offer. For most people that is fine. But for anyone with a medical condition that limits how much they can eat, this format is a serious problem. You are being charged full all you can eat prices for food you physically cannot consume in that quantity. That is not fair and it is not inclusive. A lot of restaurants in this space offer a la carte or smaller portion options for exactly this reason. Shabu Day should do the same. It is a simple change that would make a big difference for a lot of people and would show that they actually care about all of their customers -- not just the ones who can eat the most. Clean things up, fix the smell, train your staff to be more welcoming, and give people a fair way to order. The foundation is there. Now build on it.

And to my knowledge,…read morethis is the only place in St. Louis that serves this type of cuisine (only on Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm). I ordered classic items like the rice roll, beef sesame flatbread, and soy milk. They were out of the congee this time, but that's also one of my favorites. The beef in the sesame flatbread was thin cut and full of flavor. It pairs really well with the cucumber, cilantro, and green onion, along with the toasty sesame bread. My only critique is that I wish it was warmer and not served cold (intentional), but that is certainly a personal preference. The rice roll is made up of sticky rice around pork floss, pickled vegetables, chinese cruller, and, tea egg - all classic ingredients that work so well together. It fell apart towards the end, but it was still delicious eating it with a fork. The soy milk was delicious as well, and you can customize the sweetness by adding your own sugar. It is classically paired with the Chinese cruller (youtiao), but the menu is a bit pricey, so I did not separately order the youtiao. My meal came out to be $26, so I definitely consider this to be a "treat myself" meal. But given that this is the only restaurant that does Chinese breakfast in St. Louis and does it authentically, I am a huge fan. Service is great, and seating is very spacious.
