Unbelievable Ooey Gooey Butter cake!! We were visiting and wanted to bring some home with us. It travelled really well (doesn't need to be refrigerated) and was still phenomenal the next day, many states over. The smell alone of Federhofer's is incredible. This place is such a staple in our community and I was happy to be able to support local when I needed some cookies for an event! They sell cookies by the pound, and I ended up getting three pounds to go along with a hot chocolate bar. They had an incredible variety of small cookies that literally melt in your mouth. Some were cookies they have all year round while some were holiday themed. Tons of attendees asked where they were from, they were definitely a hit. Parking lot is pretty big right off of gravois, and the staff was super kind and helpful. They have a massive variety of options, definitely recommend checking them out. read more

We have been steady customers for many years, especially at Christmas. For the first time ever, we were disappointed in our cakes, cookies and breads. The rye bread is not the same as in years past. The Swedish crumb (a family favorite) is different; I can't quite put my finger on it. And the Springerle cookies that I eagerly await each year have BARELY a hint of anise. If cost-cutting measures are in place, I would rather pay a little more and enjoy the same quality. We won't discontinue our visits but we now understand why some folks switch allegiance. read more

A mix of European type desserts and breads. Picked a few items and certainly those hit well on the palate. Clean, friendly and helpful. With a solid German name like Federhofen would have anticipated more German type backers goods I.e., Apfelkuchen, Beliners, and streuselkuchen. Although the latter was available, did not seem to be the same - still very good. Did I mention Obstkuchen would have been great but didn't carry it. Bringing Cake's from Federhofer's to any Birthday or Celebration will have the whole group asking where you got the cake. Our family favorite from here is the Shadow Cake. The Shadow Cake is one layer Chocolate, one layer White Cake with Chocolate Icing that falls over the edges of the cake. Other favorites are the Gooey Butter Pastry, Carmel Pastry, and Cherry Pastry. They also have many types of homemade donuts. Federhofer's has there own parking lot. They are open on Sunday's which is very much appreciated. I will be back soon. read more

The bakery products may be good, but customer service is awful. I ordered a cake and was quoted a price. When I picked up the cake I was charged a 40% higher price. Federhofer wouldn't stand by their quoted price. Instead, they firmly said that they were charging me the correct amount, according to their price book, for the product and would not stand by their quote. If you get a quote from them be very cautious. I will no longer trust Federhofer's word and will not shop there again. read more

Nice neghborhood bakery serving up all those delicous sweets that we feel guilty about later. Had to try my first St Louis Gooey Butter cake. I guess these are a big deal in this city. Its kinda like someone made a cake and forgot to add baking powder - so it all just collapses and emulsifies into the bottom of the pan. Tastes like a cross between cake and cake batter. My wife and I were six feet away from the front door when we both simultaneously said "this smells great!" And once we were inside we knew this was a truly overwhelming, amazing bakery! They had a tremendous selection of colorful, aromatic cookies, cupcakes, pies and other wonderful pastries (many of which we had never before seen). Even the dinner rolls and breads made my mouth water! They also had a huge display of decorated cakes available for pre-order. A small refrigerated case held bottled milk, water, and sodas for purchase. No tables for indoor dining - but that explains the people eating in the cars in their large parking lot! By the way, all of the pastries we bought were delicious - and we plan to return soon to try more!! And the prices were incredibly reasonable!! Absolutely recommend!!! read more
