Unfortunately I think I just don't like a lot of Mexican pastries. My friend that is more familiar with these types of sweets told me that dry and crumbly is the style, and that's just not for me. I tried several different things and didn't really like any of them. The sugar cookie with sprinkles, the almond cookie with powdered sugar, and the frosted chocolate sugar cookie were all no-go for me. I wanted to buy the wagon wheels (not sure if that's what they're actually called?) but they were plain! No cinnamon sugar on them. The service was pretty good! We didn't chat with anyone as we shopped but once we got to the counter, they were friendly and helpful. The line went by quickly and the atmosphere was warm and cozy. My compatriots also got several things and I'll add their reviews too! Cannoli - the filling had a gap in the middle and it was little disappointing. The filling was good. The shell was a bit thick. Pretty good overall. Cheesecake - not my favorite. Tasted good and the texture was perfect but not cream cheese-y enough for my liking. The chocolate version might be better. Giant meringue - really good! Nice and crumbly with a great taste. Wedding cookies - didn't taste like anything and they were super dry. Literally no almond flavor at all. read more

This place never disappoints! We came today with the kids, got bunch of things. All fresh and tasty. Kids started eating chocolate chip cookies in the car and we had chocolate churros. So amazing! It doesn't take much to tempt me into a smorgasbord of sweets. Your first step's into Diana's are filled with the aromatics of baking spices from cinnamon, to nutmeg, to sugar--and everything in between. The selection is huge. Tons and tons of pastries line the racks. With traditional offerings to more out of the box they have something for everyone. We got a chocolate chip cookie, a birthday cake scone thing, cannoli, and a layered s'more-esque dessert. The cookie and scone were fine. Pretty crispy and not a ton of flavor. I would not get them again if I am being honest. The cannoli was wonderful. The filling was creamy and fluffy with a beautiful richness. The casing was crispy and brittle. The s'mores dessert was the star. It was layered with a flaky croissant like base. With a super light whipped cream/frosting between layers. Of course, topped with a thin layer of a rich icing and chocolate drizzle. An insane amount of offerings, with plenty that I missed out on. Would happily go back to try some other items. I have been to Diana's and I am probably the only person who doesn't like it. I want to like this bakery and I have been a few times, but to me most of the baked goods don't seem fresh. Lot of dry bready items and it's just not my vibe. The one thing I DO love here is the tamales. I know, I go to a bakery and my favorite thing is a non bakery item, but hey, it is what it is. the service is good, the people who work there are always nice, but unless you are seeking out a specific Mexican bakery item, I would skip it. Used to be a favorite spot of mine, I'd drive an hour a couple times a week but after being turned away an hour and a half before they closed was enough for me to never come back. Nobody would even come outside to talk to me, just waved me away from inside. I used to spend a lot of money here but I'm all good on that. Absolutely incredible! The pan dulce was fresh, and delicious. I got the conchas, cuernitos, orejas, and galletas. Perfect classic pan dulce. I also got some champurrado which was hot, and very creamy. The panaderia was clean, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I find the weekend mornings to have the best selections (I love churros and a coffee from Sump n a Saturday morning ). I was very confident this bakery was going to blow me out of the park. Upon entering the most insane, sweet smelling smells hit you in the face, the floor to ceiling cases packed with colorful pastries overwhelm you with excitement. I liked the self-serve set up; trays and gloves available to use to grab all you desire. However, despite the convenience, we were not greeted or acknowledged the 10+ minutes we served ourselves. I wanted to get their opinions on what was best or a had-to-have item being our first time in and never having had authentic Mexican desserts before. I didn't feel comfortable due to the near silence from behind the counter, it was slightly uncomfortable with 3+ people working up front. We bought 3 full bags of goodies. Not much was said to us other than being told our totals, regardless we could barely contain our excitement to try everything. Pastries were just okay, not very sweet but the freshness was there. I really wanted to love this place and share with others but kind of bummed regarding the over all lack of hospitality. This is a cute old school bakery! Super inexpensive. We spent $7 on many different pastries. We tried the Galletta de Grajea, Concha Grande, caramel donut, deliciosa cookie. Checkout was quick and easy, they take cash & card. There's no seating inside, you just grab a glove/ bag and bag items yourself. My friend and I were walking down Cherokee street and got/were still kind of hungry from walking around. My friend was craving a churro so I followed him in and found a large space with a bunch of baked goods. I ended up getting a strawberry danish and a concha, while friend got the aforementioned churros. We walked out with them while we continued to go walk. If you do one thing at Cherokee Street, come to Diana's Bakery. This little shop has a ton of baked goods at super affordable price points. I think it's a mix between Mexican and Western breads/other baked goods. - Conchas - Usually I don't love the conchas you get at many Mexican bakeries because it's too sweet but Diana's is actually really good. It's not overly sweet and the bread is so soft. - Apple Croissant - Kind of a weird thing to get here but I thought it was pretty good with a lot of big apple chunks inside. - Chicken Tamales - I saw a bunch of locals get tamales from here so I had to try it out. I was worried that it wouldn't taste that great after reheating it, but I was very wrong. After you reheat it, there's still that slightly crispy texture of the corn and the filling was very flavorful. Highly highly recommend! Overall, great find on Cherokee Street. Definitely looking forwards to coming back for more (especially for the tamales)! read more

Visiting from out of town, I saw the reviews and had to stop in. I walked in, and expected something slightly different, but, it worked out, as you can grab your own stuff. Take a bag, put on a glove, and go to town. I ended up grabbing about 10 diff things, and over the course of eating them, some def stood out more than others. I've steered clear of Diana's Bakery for as long as I could. Until suddenly I was slipped a delectable orange muffin with a salad I ordered from another Cherokee Street business. After sharing the muffin with a co-worker, he requested another on my next visit. Fast forward 2 days...I went back for an encore of my salad and orange muffin only to be told the muffin actually came from Diana's Bakery! OMG...now I'm forced to step foot into this carbohydrate/sugar heaven that reeks of deliciousness from the curbside. Walked in to Diana's with caution. I wanted to stay forced on the muffin I came for! I was sidetracked by the beautiful cases, cakes, cookies, coffee, coconut macaroons, donuts, churros, chocolate covered strawberries, ice cream freezer, breads and personable service. Grabbed my muffin and wanted to inflict coworkers so I got a bag of churros to spread the love. The prices are reasonable, but that means you have to buy quite a bit in order to reach the $8 minimum to use a card.
