Stopped in for a light lunch and left seriously impressed. The breakfast burrito was griddled to a perfect golden crust--warm, soft tortilla outside and a hearty, well-seasoned filling inside--topped with a bright house pico de gallo and a fresh orange slice. Across the table, the grilled cheese hit all the right notes: melty, gooey center with a crisp, buttery edge, paired with a simple greens + tomato + parmesan side salad that actually tasted fresh (not an afterthought). Drinks were equally solid: a hot chocolate with silky foam and balanced sweetness (comfort in a cup) and a chilled Spindrift for contrast. Service was friendly and fast, and the space has that relaxed neighborhood feel--easy place to linger with a warm mug.

Stopped in for a quick lunch with a coworker and loved it! I got a sandwich with a side of the figgy potatoes -- omg, those potatoes were incredible. All the sweets in the case looked amazing too, so naturally I walked out with a big bag of cookies to take home. The gooey brown butter cake and the death by chocolate cookie were both phenomenal. The vibe is very classic coffee shop, and service was quick and friendly. Definitely recommend!

This was our first time going here. We went here to pick up some pastry and soups. This place seems like a good place for breakfast. The chocolate chip cookies are good. The potatoes soup has great flavors- I did not take a picture. The other pastry we had also tastes great. The staff here are nice and friendly despite being busy this morning. The decor seems open and airy.

Colleen's is always so good! The food is great. So many options for breakfast and lunch. Coffee is always great as well. They are all so nice and quick. Love sitting and eating in. They recently redid the interior and it looks great. Plenty of inside seating and some outdoor seating when it's nice out, too! Make sure to try a death by chocolate cookie!

Don't pass on the ham & cheese croissant!

With those bodega-like graphics and generic branding, I would walk right by this place but I'm so glad I didn't! The latte is superb along with the assortment of delicious scones but the real star of the morning is that ham & cheese croissant! Don't let the smallish size fool you. The ham & cheese is an utter delight to the senses...best in St Louis!

Don't brother... I came bere wanting to try a new spot and left more hungry than I came in. The website gives off the appeal like it's this spacious coffee shop but when you walk in, it's anything but. It's small, like really small. There were people everywhere, which caused utter chaos because you didn't know if they were coming or going or trying to order. Since I had no idea it would be this busy, I snagged the first open spot I saw at the bar. I saw there was a QR code and figured maybe I'd have to order there. Nope. I made eye contact with one of the people behind the counter thinking she was going to bring a menu but instead, she was looking at the open tables (which might I add, weren't a lot since so many needed to be bussed). I finally asked the guy sitting next to me if I needed to order here or go to the counter and he said the counter. I made my way over and was finally able to order. I went with the classic and added in cheddar cheese for my eggs and avocado. I was given a number and I went back to my spot at the bar. Believe it or not, I waited a really long time. Each time I'd hear the bell ring, I grew anxious hoping it was mine and was let down each time. There was a time where the food runner came out with what I thought was my food. When I asked her she rudely said, "no". Not trying to be petty, but her response made me not even want to eat my food whenever I did get it. Finally, after watching others get their food before me even though they came in after me, my food arrived. This was the most basic plate of food I've ever seen. Considering it comes with two eggs, it looked like 1. I ate a few bites and then realized this wasn't worth it and left. From the plethora of unbussed tables, confusing way to order and lackluster service, I have no desire to ever return. All those times my late parents would say, "there's food at home", when I'd ask for certain things def. hit home today. Lesson learned for next time!

Went here for a work lunch the other day and was shocked that a spot of this quality and price point had escaped my notice so close to the office! So many great things to say about Colleen's. There's plenty of seating inside and outside and a robust menu of affordably priced lunch items. You order at the counter where you are given a number to find your own seat with. Our food came out shortly and I was again thrilled with the portion size. While the cafe does get busy, it was never too loud to have a natural conversation. We sat inside because it was raining, but the street outside also would have been quiet enough for us to conduct our casual meeting. Will absolutely come back with colleagues in the future.

Finally got the chance to try Colleen's for brunch and it was super cute! I enjoyed sitting outside on the small patio space and the menu was much more extensive that I would have thought. My caramel apple chai was delicious! It's a nice casual ambiance in a central location, but it does get very busy on weekends and can get fairly loud inside. The service was quick, but it's pretty much just an order and pay at the counter set up. The bagel and lox was okay, but I'd probably try something different the next time I visit.

My friend and I had a nice visit to Colleen's for coffee and pastries! There was a short line to order that moved quickly. I ordered their signature caramel latte and my friend ordered a latte and cookies. They had a buy one get one free cookie special, so he got two sugar cookies for the price of one! We grabbed a seat and our lattes were out shortly. My caramel latte was deliciously sweet and creamy! The space itself is quite roomy with lots of natural light and fun pops of color. We had a great time at Colleen's and will be back!

A pleasant surprise for me! Lovely place to enjoy a meal and some conversation. The Irish breakfast measured up well (just got back from Ireland 2 weeks ago). Delicious! Had a decaf latte that was also tasty. Good service, reasonable prices, and a calm ambiance. Great trifecta!

First timer at Colleen's and I can't believe I've never been here before! This is one of my new favorite spots. It has tons of seating as well as great food and drink options. I loved the holiday decor and pastries. I really enjoyed the coffee service for here. The latte art was a nice touch. The servers were busy but polite and efficient. I would absolutely recommend this place to friends and will be back.

The breakfast fired rice is delicious me and my friend love it. We also got coffees. I don't remember exactly what they were, but I think they were some sort of flavored latte. It was also very delicious.

Today, I was blessed to find my favorite spot at the bar open. This is a great vantage point to witness how a well run restaurant functions. The bar space is quite tight, but the servers and baristas (notably, the always excellent Lynne) move elegantly between each other as if in a choreographed dance. The Lindbergh Tartine was on point today with delicious sausage gravy over house-made sourdough, two sunny side up eggs and the always fantastic crispy potatoes. Soooo gooood! The pleasing decor, cute bistro-style tables and live plants makes this spot feel so warm. After coming here multiple times, I sometimes look for small improvements that I might suggest, but I'm consistently unsuccessful! With that said, I do think it's time to put some purse hooks up under the bar seating....still getting a solid 5-Star review! Come to Ivy Cafe and see for yourself!

I was remarking to a member of my running group that I've probably driven past this place a million…read moretimes and never noticed it was there. I'm not sure what I imagined it being. A Kinkos? Some place where I could print off copies of my zine about protecting the environment by committing minor acts of terrorism in America's forests? Turns out, it's a place where you can listen to truly random vinyl records while eating burritos entirely too good to be available in Clayton. Nothing about the latter says this part of town except for the price, which is almost like someone's cruel idea of a joke. I'd suggest that they're the best breakfast burritos available anywhere in the area, but what do I know? I've been eating breakfast burritos since the Reagan administration, when they were invented (as far as I know), but mostly of the microwavable variety. They have the potential to be the best food possible, because they combine the two other best foods, breakfast sandwiches and Mexican food, but no one seems to put any real effort into them. They're less likely than their lunch/dinner counterpart to cause gastrointestinal distress. People suspect that the reason Chipotle gives you the runs roughly every third time you visit is because of the cilantro, which is impossible to wash, but I heard it's really the lettuce. Never get lettuce on a burrito from Chipotle. If you're getting one of those bowls, why are you even going to Chipotle? You're probably already fat, and not eating a tortilla is not going to make a difference. But I digress. Upshot is primarily a coffee shop, and I think it's generally well regarded as far as that's concerned, though I'm no expert. I drink a nice, stiff six cups or so of whatever's on sale first thing in the morning and it usually ends up being the highlight of my day. I don't need any coffee in addition to that. I might get nervous. I've had luck lately with the seasonal selections at other local coffee shops that I've visited, so I figured I'd take my chances with an iced strawberry matcha latte. It seemed like it would be nice and refreshing after getting in a few miles with the homies, and damn it if it didn't hit the spot. You could see the actual seeds in it from where they must have crushed up an actual strawberry to make it, thus justifying the price, at least as far as they're concerned. They spared no expense with the burrito either. It's filled with surprisingly large chunks of bacon and avocado. Can they afford to give you more bacon because they don't cook it to the point where it starts to shrink? I like it when it's still kinda chewy, but I'm sure many would beg to differ. That must be how bacon is served in Clayton. They don't have the lovable old James bring it out to you, but I can understand, with this being 2026. It's not the lengthiest tortilla in the world, but it's stuffed to nearly overflowing with eggs, cheese, potatoes and what have you. I'd suggest bringing a date just to see if she could wrap her lips around it, but who's got that kind of money? It would have to be someone you've already been out with a few times, who's with the program, so to speak.

I initially visited this place because it's a rare downtown restaurant with great street parking so I always knew I could find a spot (huge plus!). My first visit I tried the blackberry cheesecake stuffed French toast but It didn't seem like it was truly stuffed with any cheesecake. It had some on top though and the flavor was still great, just a bit dry. I should've gotten a bit of syrup on the side. I washed it down with an iced French toast latte that was crazy good so I ordered one to go. Finally my server was Molli and she was just perfect. Sweet, talkative, and attentive -- oh and to top it off she saved my butt after I left my credit card there. I hope she sees this because I appreciate her! The next two times I visited that week I was craving oatmeal and they delivered in an elevated fashion. Their banana walnut oatmeal is decadent. I love boring oatmeal at home but it doesn't have to be boring. Half & Half elevates this humble dish into an incredibly tasty experience. I can't get oatmeal at other places now! I washed it down with some OJ that was just alright. It doesn't taste like it's freshly squeezed in house like other breakfast spots in Clayton but it's hardly a complaint. I will visit this warm and cozy spot many times over.

This year, when thinking about where I wanted to go to celebrate my birthday, it was a really quick…read moredecision for me to make. I knew Half & Half was the only place on my mind! For some reason, the waitlist online was not available so we could not get on the list ahead of time so I am not sure if they took that down or if they just turned it off or what. But that didn't bother me because I was willing to wait if needed. Where Half & Half is located is on a really busy street in Clayton and you really only have the option to find a street parking spot. Maybe you get lucky and find one out front? Or maybe you are like me and need to park 4-5 blocks away and take a little walk. Either way, you can find parking if you are willing to walk a bit. Upon arriving, there were already a ton of people waiting to be seated so I already knew it would be a wait. I talked with the hostess and added my name (party of 2) to the list and was told it would be about 30-45 minutes wait. The restaurant is not very large, so on a cold day, I did not want to wait outside. Instead, I was able to find a little spot in the corner near the bar and just tried to take up as little space as possible while waiting. Eventually, I received the text that our table was ready and so we made our way to the hostess stand (had to make out way through crowds of people who were also waiting) and then the hostess walked us over to our booth for two. It was just perfect for us. Tim, our server came over right away to greet us and offered us coffee or other drinks. Once we ordered, he gave us some time to review the menu and went on his way to grab our drinks. When he came back, we were ready to order, and, of course, I think I had a difficult order, but Tim made it possible and wasn't even bothered by request. I really just wanted a smaller portion of the Clara cake (to share) and then I asked for a scrambled egg and some turkey bacon. I thought this would be a complicated order, but he made it work and I am so grateful for that. My hubby ordered one of the hash bowls with steak. While waiting for our food, we enjoyed coffee and Tim made sure our cups were filled. He even brought over some bailey's for the coffee for my hubby to add since I ordered a mimosa as my cocktail of choice. When the food came out, it was all so fresh and delicious. I legit love the Clara cake so much and it really made my birthday super special! The eggs were super fluffy and the turkey sausage was also good. Since I did not finish my meal, Tim offered to bring over a box and a bag and then he made sure we were all set before he gave us the bill. Since the restaurant was still super busy, we did not hang out for much longer after paying. Instead, we paid, packed up and were out the door. Honestly, the food is always my favorite here. But this visit was even extra awesome since Tim took such good care of us. Servers are busy and I appreciated how he took good care of us. Thanks to Half & Half for the delicious meal and thanks to Tim for the service! I'll be back.
