Beautiful space with lots of greenery, great music, and friendly, attentive staff! The food was good but not too memorable. I had the Sloppy Mustafa Tost and it felt like something was missing. The biggest letdown was the "runny" egg, which wasn't runny at all, very surprising for a breakfast spot. The ordering process also takes away from the experience. Waiting in a long line to order and pay, then carrying your own water to the table, doesn't make for a relaxing brunch. My friend also wasn't told they had run out of the somun for the Cilbir until the food arrived and it had already been substituted. Not your average breakfast! That is what I loved about Telva. My friend had the Kunefe - what a surprise! it is a mixture of cheeses with shredded phyllo and baklava syrup - savory and sweet all together. We shared a Chocolate Povitica - similar to a babka and really good I had the Cilbir - very similar to Shakhuka but with garlic yogurt - REALLY GOOD!! Earlier this week I decided to grab some breakfast to go from Telva at the Ridge, which is Balkan inspired cafe. I placed my order online and it was hot and ready when I arrived. I love when I can track the status online. I ordered the breakfast sendvic and I added sudzuka (seasoned beef). You do have the option to add beef or turkey bacon. We finally tried Telva at The Ridge. This spot is owned by the same folks who own Balkan Treat Box, so we hoped to have a similar or better experience than BTB (which we liked, but didn't love). Sadly, I'd say this restaurant is actually a star worse than BTB. Let's start with the positives: this place has a cool vibe. It's industrial with a bit of the warmth from the attached Rolling Ridge Nursery below. The downside of the industrial vibe is that the chairs are painful and there could be more seating. The food wasn't bad by any means, but it didn't knock our socks off. My Mom got the Breakfast Sendvic, which is essentially an Egg Sandwich on crispy bread with an herb aioli. She added Beef Bacon. I understand they don't serve pork here, but the Beef Bacon was not her favorite. I got the Breakfast Pide. I thought I ordered sausage on top, but instead received something similar to Pepperoni. Regardless, I enjoyed my meal. The service was definitely the weakest part of our experience. We did not encounter one "friendly" staff member. They all ranged from cordial to rude. I tried this spot for the first time on a random weekday afternoon. There were probably 3 parties in total, including mine, so it felt very quiet and empty since the dining room is so big! I could imagine how lively the place would be during the weekend. My friend and I each had a breakfast pide ($18) with meat added on ($3-5 depending on choice). The bread was pillowy and chewy with lots of charred spots, which I personally love but might not sit well with others. I've been here multiple times and I've never had anything that wasn't amazing! (The mustafa tost was good, didn't have the deeper flavors that I like, but still very good.) I didn't think that the orange cake would be nearly as good as it was, but WOW!! The cream topping was phenomenal and the cake itself was SO flavorful and moist. The orange flavor was more authentic and present than it's been in any other orange-flavored thing I've ever had. The kilbir is always savory and has a depth and warmth to it that pairs perfectly with the yoghurt. I wish there was more bread included because the pieces included don't seem to last for half of the dish. The latte was very nice! If you're a coffee lover, then you'll like it. The coffee flavor is very nice and isn't drowned out by the syrups. The baklava parfait is a MUST. With the honey drizzle and nuts and flower petals on the plate, you get nice variety and it looks gorgeous. He usually likes a pastry with his afternoon coffee, so I was surprised when he ordered an avocado toast with an egg on top. Along with his double cortado, or hot latte with light milk, he has finally found a spot other than Starbucks for his afternoon coffee needs. He likes to say "would you like coffee" at lunch time. We stopped into Telva's around 12:30pm on a Friday to find it buzzing with college students, laptop workers, and tourists. You order at the counter before being assigned a table. The European Sipping Chocolate is a seasonal hallmark and major draw for folks to Telva's. They only serve it on weekends (Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays) in December. We had never been to Telva's and came explicitly to try this drink. There were a few tables to choose from, so that meant we were cozy with other customers; eavesdropping on your neighbors is almost inevitable. The sipping chocolate and baklava we ordered arrived at our table within 5 minutes. The sipping chocolate was oddly cool; we expected it to be at least a little warm. European Sipping Chocolate is intentionally high-quality, dark chocolate. The toasted marshmallow rims on the teacups are the perfect pairing, allowing each consumer to mix in some marshmallow to sweeten to taste. The chocolate was delicious, but so rich we did wish we had shared one order. We do think it would be lovely if Telva expanded the drink in the future to serve the toasted marshmallow with toppings like pistachios or berries. The pistachios especially would make the drink pair so well with their delicious house baklava! We are glad we took the time to taste the famed Telva's European Sipping Chocolate, but wish it had been served a bit warmer. read more

One of the best brunch spots in St. Louis and I mean that. The fact that it's attached to a plant nursery alone makes it unique and special! The interior is earthy, kind of vintage, a little grunge, very cultural and layered. It just has so much character and personality to it. The menu is simple yet good variety. Please get the Bosnian coffee! It comes as a fun little DIY kit with a Turkish delight on the side and it is such a delightful experience haha! The lattes are also incredible and the mugs they serve in are so pretty. The food though. I don't even know where to start. We ordered a few dishes and every single one was insanely flavorful. They are a machine, huge space that's packed with a line out of the door so if it's a Sunday I suggest ordering online and going for a nice walk. We ordered and got our food quickly; the next-door neighbor Rolling ridge Nursery was fun to browse briefly. The French toast special BLEW me away. Crispy exterior and warm buttery interior topped with phyllo crispies, agda syrup, pears, the sweetest pomegranate seeds. I want to return purely for this French toast which was like the perfect marriage of a bread pudding and baklava. We also enjoyed the sloppy mustafa toast which reminded me of chili ground beef with a perfectly runny egg on bread. There are no misses on the restaurant menu, everything is delicious, and if I had the stomach capacity I would want to order everything in one sitting to eat. The Cilbir is one of my favorites because of the yogurt and the eggs once mixed together is so delicious together with the bread they provide. However the Sendvic is another classic in our household, either with the sudzuka or the beef bacon added. Honestly everything on their menu is amazing.
