This is such a cute Israeli restaurant on the famous Delmar Loop! We ordered their specialty dish, shakshuka, and it was so good--very flavorful and served sizzling hot, just the way I like it. It was a great mix of tomatoes, eggs, cheese, and other ingredients that came together perfectly. They do have a small parking lot, but it was full when we arrived, so we used free street parking nearby. The restaurant also seems quite popular, as we waited about 20 minutes before being seated. I met a friend here for brunch as he said the food here was good and thought I'd enjoy it. I got there before he did and had a chance to look around and find the best spot. Once he arrived, we ordered at the counter. I got the katom and the Shawarma-spiced chicken laffa. My friend some got some coffee and shakshuka. It was a minimal wait but was worth it. The beverages came first followed by the food. The juice was beyond refreshing. Best of all, I didn't feel guilty since it has a healthy mixture of fruits and a veggie (carrot). The food was quite surprising (in a good way of course). Although it's labeled spicy, the attendant said it was mild and she was right. I was surprised at the presentation, but for the record, I wasn't sure what to expect. The dish itself was tasty, but I didn't realize it would come with all the things I don't like on top (onions, diced tomatoes, etc). I managed to pick around it and gave the rest to my friend. I came here with a friend for brunch to celebrate my birthday. I was super excited because I had been wanting to try this since it opened. I started with the bauhaus coffee and we ordered the abu omri hummus. I love espresso but I was surprised how bitter the coffee was with the unsweetened whipped cream and cocoa. It wasn't my favorite. I LOVED the hummus the flavor was fantastic. I was surprised that you had to order the pita separately. I also got the Jerusalem bagel with whitefish salad. I went for brunch and everything was delicious! We tried the shakshuka deluxe and famous egg salad toast. Both were excellent! I really enjoyed the lamb sausage in the shakshuka and it came with warm pita. The egg salad was deliciously creamy and the bread was perfectly toasted. We also tried Aviv and Katom signature blended juices. Both were delicious but I think the Katom was my favorite just due to preference of flavor! Service was super friendly and helpful. Everything was brought out quickly and they even refilled my juice without extra charge! Inside is super cute with what I believe is Israeli inspired decor. It's a good options whether you're popping in for a coffee or sitting down for a full meal. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and were pleasantly surprised that it wasn't too busy, making it a great place to catch up with friends without shouting over noise. The vibe is casual, with both indoor and outdoor seating available. There's street parking and a nearby lot, so getting there was easy. The coffee was good (no refills, but that didn't bother us), and the food was very nice. The lamb shakshuka was flavorful and satisfying, while the Persian herb omelet felt lighter and packed with fresh herbs -- both dishes were beautifully done. The Shakshuka was incredibly done - the flavors were perfect! The lamb pita was really good as well. We had the Hummus Abu Omri with fresh vegetables to share. The hummus was creamy and rich. Popped in for brunch on a weekend. Had reservation but they seem to have plenty of spots outside as well. Inside is pretty small so I would recommend making reservation. We got the fried eggs with harissa brown butter Greek salad, shakshuka delux and baba ghanoush. Baba ghanoush came with bread but shakshika did not for some reason. Both were amazing. They didn't offer to refill coffee which was odd and they took away plate while food left without asking if it was ok to take away. Tables are small, and we ordered a lot for two, I get that they were making room for the table but I wish they would've checked. I think same situation as Esca, the servers / staff are new and hope they get more training as the business thrives! Always excited to try Poremba's new place. They never disappoint. It's Friday, and my handsome, intriguing gentleman decided to whisk me away for a new experience in the city. You never know where we might end up or, sometimes, where you might find me alone. This time, we landed at Florentine, and what a treat it was! Thank you, Florentine, for my first-ever authentic Middle Eastern food experience! The vibe here is rustic and vintage, with a cozy, homey atmosphere that immediately made me feel at ease. The staff was amiable and attentive, ensuring everything arrived at the right moment--no rush, just perfect timing. The hummus was excellent; after this, I'll never go back to store-bought again! I also tried Turkish coffee for the first time, and let me tell you, I'm hooked. I might have to start making it at home. The falafel was another first for me, and I'm happy to say this will be my new go-to spot for my meatless days and whenever I'm craving Middle Eastern cuisine. You're greeted by friendly staff who are knowledgeable about the menu and can help pick the perfect items for you. The menu, although it looks small, has a wide breadth of options, and all of the items I tried were beautiful and flavorful. You can't miss out on the pita and dips. What a horrible experience we had last night for Mother's Day dinner. We ate her when Olio was doing a pop up. Super expensive, terrible food, small amounts, and unacceptable service. We waited 1 hour for the first dish, hummus, to come out. After that another half hour in between everything that was being served. In total we were there for almost three hours. My choice of shakshuska florentin was so good. It takes a moment to cool down, which could be my biggest complaint since I was excited to eat! I ordered a pita as well for the breakfast. The vanilla bean latte was really good. And it wasn't way too hot when delivered to the table so I could drink right away. All staff members were very friendly, I was there on a perfect Friday am. Like many, I was thrilled at the news that Florentin would be arriving in the STL food scene. Chef/owner BP has really good taste, and is one of the few restauranteurs to bring creative and culturally magnificent food to our beautiful city. I hope he continues to share his vision by bringing more of his ideas to life. That being said... My experience was underwhelming. Upon arrival I honestly didn't know if I was supposed to order at the counter or through the waitstaff. We waited 15 minutes before we could get anyone's attention. They were "short staffed" (on opening weekend?) and the crew they did have on hand seemed like there were 100 things they'd rather be doing than this... The utensils they gave me were dirty with visible stains on both sides. The napkins were damp. The hummus, while visually appealing, was bland and lacked flavor. The pita was great (expertly crafted in fact) but the falafel tasted burnt. There was an unpleasant char to the flavor that was off-putting. My stomach felt heavy after eating it... Dipping sauces were okay, but nothing I would crave. While friendly overall, service was slow to bring out any food or accommodate requests... I observed other guests with similar disappointment about this, frequently having to get attention from the staff, who almost went out of their way not to make eye contact with the people at the tables they were covering. In a word, this opening felt "rushed." Which surprises me, because at their other restaurants the service is generally wonderful and extremely attentive. I will come back in a few months to see if this has improved. read more

Not real authentic Mediterranean food, I don't recommend drove 40 minutes from the suburbs to try this out. Very disappointing.

We came into the place for breakfast, the restaurant was empty and the hostess asked if we had reservations! I asked if she was expecting a crowd. She seated us and brought the menu. The egg and croissant sandwich was 9.95 and the other dishes went up from there. I didn't mind the prices but the offerings were slim. I'm not unfamiliar with breakfast Mediterranean style, having traveled in Turkey and having Lebanese breakfasts in other areas of the world but the selection was slim and pricey for this location. I would recommend it for lunch not breakfast. read more

Enjoyed Sunday brunch here in the unpretentious outdoor garden. The menu is similar to the now-closed Olio on the south side (same owner, the creative restauranteur Ben Perumba). I had eggplant toast - a welcome and delicious twist on avocado toast. Perumba's dinner time restaurant, Esca, is across the street. The food just wasn't good to me. I had the egg salad toast and my wife had the lamb shushaka. We left probably 80% of our food on the plate. The lamb smelled and tasted too gamey.
