We've enjoyed Pan d"Olive for many years and have witnessed several transitions. We love the happy hours, which we attend regularly. The recent transition updated the environment and menu. Everything on the happy hour menu is still delicious, but I'm disappointed with the new hummus. The old hummus was larger and much smoother with the toppings on top rather than mixed into the hummus. The flavor was also much better. Please return to the old hummus! I order it every time and miss the older version. Thank you! P.S. This place is amazing! Our first time there, for the 3 of us. The place is really nice and several areas to eat. We ate in the front with big windows and the bar. The area was nice and bright and inviting. They offer a deal for lunch with an entree, a soup, side or salad and soft drink. This was around $15-17. We each had the same thing, we ordered the salmon. My wife thought the fish was a bit over done, but I thought it was fine. The flavor was ok, but then I really like to be hit with flavor. It was served on top of something and I do not remember what it was exactly, but felt there was little taste in the slightly over cooked red... onions or beets, sorry not sure. We each had a different side, eggplant, hummus and the zucchini. The portions varied. There were 4 long pieces of zucchini with what was supposed to be a garlic sauce. It was 'ok' and almost funny to see only 4 slices of zucchini on the plate. The hummus was the best, largest and tastiest. The eggplant was a little diluted, but I did get the garlic flavor. The service was excellent! Great staff and the food was hot when it came out. It's a good deal at least for lunch. However, if the flavors are what can be expected for dinner, we might not be back. For the general public, the flavors would probably be just fine. We eat out all the time and have expectations that may exceed what most people would like. I was looking for a good (and new-to-me) happy hour spot before plans downtown this past Wednesday, and after extensive research I settled on Pan D'Olive. The many reviews I read did not steer me wrong! First of all, their happy hour menu is super generous--you will find a TON of options for both drinks and food. We enjoyed three happy hour apps (smaller portions than their regular menu)-- phyllo cigars, shrimp scampi, and arancini. They were all between $5-10 and delicious. I also highly recommend their lemon drop, which was perfectly tart and sweet, and only $7.50 on happy hour. Did I mention that their happy hour also goes until 7PM?! It's one of the latest I've found in the area; for me this is a HUGE selling point. Beyond the excellent food and drink, our bartender, Melissa, was fabulous and super attentive. She was extremely busy, but we never experienced a long wait or empty drinks. The restaurant is also beautiful, sleek, and clean, with tons of outdoor seating options as well. Went in with a group of 7. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation but were seated promptly. Another good meal here. I got the spinach salad with salmon on it. It was tasty. I love the bread they serve at the table. Usually comes out warm. So yummy. The one downside of the evening was our waitress. She was a bit of a cold fish but everyone has an off day sometimes so I chalked it up to that. read more

Lovely atmosphere in a spacious and uncluttered environment. They have several dining areas including an upstairs and downstairs private space. First time here! Everything was wonderful! You can tell that they put special attention in everything they create. We ate outside and it was lovely. It was a busy night inside but our waiter came out so many times to check on us. Other servers would make sure our eaters were full! Just what you would want in a nice restaurant. Now for the food! We started off with warm slices of bread delivered to our table in a basket. The olive oil had the most wonderful taste. We ordered the phyllo cigars, stuffed with herbed feta, as an appetizer. The crunch, the cheese, delicious! Sometimes they can be greasy but these were not all! I ordered shrimp scampi and they did not skimp! The shrimp were so large and fresh I couldn't even finish them. Served with potatoes and carrots, Judy the right amount. Fresh, Fresh, Fresh!!!!! My daughter has a special, pistacio crusted salmon with pasta and sautéed vegetables. Fish was fresh with right amount of breading! Perfecto ! My friend ordered the spicy capellini, which was my second choice... It was excellent and quite a serving that she had leftovers to take home! Two of us also enjoyed the Shepherd, salad... (house salad). Full as we were, we could not pass a dessert. Homemade pistachio gelato and crème brûlée or our choices of the night although there were many other wonderful dessert selections to choose from. The gelato was full of pistachios and have such a fresh creamy taste. I love crème brûlée and I have had a lot of crème brûlée, but I have to be honest and say this was one of the best ones that I have ever had. The custard was exceptional! We also cannot forget about the drinks. My friend and I both decided to have the Limoncello Collins. I was a little skeptical of the Limoncello coming in a soda glass, but as with everything else, it was excellent. The booth we sat in is big enough for four people and felt private with full wall on 3 sides. Food prices are pricey while drink prices are a great value. As far as shrinkflation go, I don't mind the smaller size dishes with prices staying in the $20 range. Our waitress started us off with a basket of warm complementary bread. From the moment we sat down, the atmosphere felt warm, welcoming, and perfect for lingering over a couple rounds of drinks. We started with the shrimp scampi, and it was bursting with flavor and cooked perfectly. The lamb shank was incredibly tender and rich, practically falling off the bone with every bite. The seafood linguine was loaded with fresh seafood and coated in a light, flavorful sauce that tied everything together beautifully. I don't think Pan D'Olive gets the attention that it deserves. It offers up fantastic lunch specials, a good Happy Hour and has ambiance good enough for a romantic date night dinner. A friend and I went recently and had a delightful lunch. Of course we had adult beverages, too and were impressed with the specialty cocktail menu and prices. The lunch menu was only $14.99 per entree and we each took leftovers home. Portions are huge. I enjoyed Fried Risotto Balls and Linguini Clams. The Linguini and Clams were as good as some I have had at an Italian restaurant. My friend had, Phyllo Cigars and a Gorgonzola Burger. She loved her cigars and enjoyed the burger and fries. The fries weren't hand cut, but she said the quality was pretty good for french fries from a bag. We were seated at a high-top in the bar area and the bartender was our server. He was very attentive and made an excellent Martini for me. I'll be back for another lunch and also plan on checking out their Happy Hour in the very near future. read more

Went for Happy Hour which they have Monday through Friday 4-7! Bonus time that makes it easier to go for those that aren't out of work early. Our first visit here, nice parking lot right next to the building. We weren't sure if the side door was the way to go but it was open and the staff inside the second door, greeted us warmly and directed us to the bar area, explaining we could sit where we liked, it was first come, first served. Maura was honest and friendly through our stay. The Happy Hour menu is small but has a range of selections that should please most. I ordered a Lemon Drop as my drink choice and Napolatana Flatbread. Both great choices! The drink was lemony and sweet with a great powdered sugar rim. The flatbread had 6 large pieces, each topped with mozzarella, basil a slice of tomato and a piece of fresh mozzarella. I liked to corner pieces the best with their extra crunch. Husband Paul got a diet soda and chicken wings. The wings, about 8 or so, were crispy (yum!) and the sauce was spicy and tangy. I enjoyed them but the wings were very small. Maura recommended my second drink, a Kir Royale. I had never had one and it was just sweet enough with nice pop of champagne. My espresso martini was so strong and disgusting I couldn't finish it, and at $14 a cocktail I expected something a little more delicious! My friend said the same thing about her Moscow Mule and also left almost 3/4 of her cocktail on the table. The bread service was nice, but the bread was stale and chewy. My pasta dish tasted like a frozen TV dinner. this was the first time that I've ever been there I ordered the lamb shank, and my wife ordered the salmon on a bed of cabbage Turkish stew. Mine was absolutely phenomenal the best lamb shank I've ever had.!!!!!!!!! and my wife's was also comparable. I don't care for salmon, but the cabbage stew it was on I tried I asked for extra to go. Unexpectedly yum! I've lived in St. Louis most of my life and have driven past this place probably thousands of times but have never been. So when my mom and I were looking for a dinner spot, we decided to stop in. While I was a little bummed the lunch items weren't available for dinner (this is on my reading comprehension, not them), I ended up loving my spicy capellini! The menu feels a little limited and the restaurant is a bit dark and dated, but the service was great and I'm glad to have a new-to-me place to have an affordable and tasty meal. read more

Let me start by saying I used to live on McCausland and go to the place about 2 years back fairly regularly. Prime happy hour and espresso martini + pistachio ice cream. I have super fond memories so decided on there for Valentine's day last month... not sure if they changed management, recipes, or are cutting costs due to the economy but unfortunately the food quality just isn't there anymore :( Very hesitant to write this review as I am aware they are locally owned and I have never had a problem with the service and the ambiance is always nice. However, the salads, scampi and beef medallions were sub-par at best... the scampi actually made me a little sick after eating and I had to share. If you are particular with your meals/going for a date night I would wait on this one... or maybe go for drinks and dessert! Still love you guys and hope this was just an off night. Alfredo was bland with tiny 1/4 inch sizes of chicken (very few), peas were not cooked thoroughly and bland. Friends dishes of flatbread and tilapia bland as well. Desserts were delicious (tiramisu, lemon cello cake and crème brûlée). The only reason the lemon cello cake landed on our table was because a use the waiter thought we ordered it, we did not, just spoke about it. We came here without a reservation but luckily they had a table available. The waitstaff here is always very kind and the bussers are eager to take your dishes and give you more water. Always. I've had this before and I've always been a fan but it didn't seem like there was enough alcohol in it. My friend had a salad. We went there a couple days ago and I'm still hearing about that salad. They didn't share so I'm going out on a limb to say it was great! The bread is sooooo soft. It's so good. I wish we were given more. Honestly, I'm guessing we could have asked for more but we didn't. That's on us. I did save part of mine to wipe up the olive oil crumbs from my trout which as usual, was FABULOUS! This was my first time visiting this restaurant. They were very accommodating for our party of 8. We originally had reservations for later that evening. However, our plans were cancelled and decided to go early. The workers opened the restaurant a little early for us. They normally do not open until 5pm on a Saturday. Wait staff were excellent. We were seated upstairs. The whole inside of the restaurant is beautiful. Full bar offering. I was a little disappointed that they had few things on the menu for a vegan considering they are a Mediterranean restaurant. I ordered the spinach salad and hummus plate. A friend ordered same salad with the calamari (I do eat fish and seafood on occasion). The salad was good but small. The hummus plate was a little underwhelming but flavors were good. What an absolutely lovely little restaurant. I'm not really sure why I had never eaten here before but it is definitely going into regular rotation. First of all the food was delicious. They aren't attempting to be new or trendy or to break any barriers but the food is well cooked, well seasoned, and a delight to eat. It was also very affordable! Pasta dishes for less than $20?!? In this economy?! The ambience is decidedly upscale so I was expecting to see those upscale prices! They charge about the same as Pasta House, with a vibe that is more in line with a special occasion restaurant. The service was outstanding! I have several food intolerances and preferences that they easily and happily accommodated them. They were attentive but gave us space to enjoy our food and wine. 10/10 will be back! read more
