If you're visiting St. Louis, you've probably heard about toasted ravioli, and Anthonino's Taverna is one of the places that kept coming up in recommendations. The restaurant was packed on a Monday evening, so I'd recommend making a reservation if you're dining with a group. I stopped by without one and only had a short wait. It was also fun seeing the photos and memorabilia from when Guy Fieri featured the restaurant on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Service was friendly and quick. I started with the toasted ravioli, and while it was nicely fried, it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. It was basically deep-fried ravioli without much flavor on its own, though the marinara sauce helped. For my entrée, I ordered the Tutti Mare in garlic butter sauce, which I enjoyed much more. The seafood was cooked well, and the pasta was light and flavorful without feeling too heavy. Overall, I had a great meal and left completely full. Even though the toasted ravioli wasn't my favorite, I'd still recommend Anthonino's Taverna if you're looking for authentic Italian food in St. Louis!
We visited last night for the first time to celebrate my birthday. I was looking for a solid family restaurant and Anthonino's fit the bill. It's a big restaurant with lots of seating and an extensive menu. The service was friendly and attentive. For an appetizer we chose toasted ravioli and they were some of the best I have had. Flavorful filling, crispy exterior, and plenty of Parmesan cheese. We all really enjoyed these. The complimentary bread with olive oil was also nice while we waited. Not a ton of places still have this. I also liked that the olive oil was seasoned which gave it a nice kick. For entrees we ordered two lasagnas, salmon pasta and a frisco burger. All were good but the lasagna was the standout. A little spicy and very filling. The salmon could have used a little extra salt but I loved the grilled flavor. Since it was my birthday they gave me a complimentary mini cannoli. It was so cute and very tasty! If I wasn't so full I would have loved a full sized one. If we go back again I would try a pizza and Palmer's style chicken. Both looked really good!
Great food, atmosphere and service. Anthonino's lived up to the hype! From start to finish the dinner was seem-less. When visiting St.Louis, I'll definitely be back.
Clearly, with over a thousand reviews, Anthonino's is beloved in St Louis and beyond! I had to check it out for myself. Reservations are a good idea due to its popularity. Parking is easy within a block or two. Outdoor, booth, and table seating is available. My husband had the gluten free pasta because it is also vegan, and no lie and true to form, it was delightful and light! The tomato sauce is Perfection: not too acidic, not too sweet, letting the grand yet humble tomato shine. I chose the puttanesca, one of my favorite traditional Italian pastas. I would order this again!! Had plenty for lunch the next day. Not to be left out: the toasted ravs and cannoli. I've had a few T-ravs since moving to StL, and these are excellent. The tomato sauce for dipping, once again, is a real treat. The cannolis? Precious, flaky, and dreamy. I ate one at our table and took the second bad boy home. FIRE.
Went with a large party and one gal took care of all of us and Leann did an AMAZIN job!!! This place is authentic Italian food and has some STL classics too. Like they have really good Toasted Ravioli. Their Meatball Pasta was also really good. Handmade meatballs and pasta, soooooo good! The place is small but they keep everyone spread out really well. It is open and has a modern flair to it. It is a great place to break bread. The food was a little pricey but for handmade pasta, it was understandable.
Came here with a friend on a Wednesday night. I was shocked at how busy it was. When we sat at our table, our waitress was super sweet and attentive. We got our bread and appetizer pretty quickly. We got the appetizer of the goat cheese and pita it was so delicious. I got the pasta con broccoli, and it was pretty good. The lasagna seemed like it took longer to cook and came out Piping hot where my pasta con broccoli wasn't necessarily hot. The lasagna came out a cute dish, which was cool. The tiramisu came out and it's not the best tiramisu I've ever had, but it was pretty good and came in a cute little glass. Solid experience on the hill.
One of our favorite restaurants on The Hill! Everyone is so friendly and accommodating. They absolutely love dogs on their patio and even partner with Ciao Chow pet store to provide your pups with "Toasted Ravioli" treats! Their food is fantastic! Everything from their Caprese Salad with Burrata to their pasta and pizza and down to their desserts. Their dining rooms are lively and the restaurant is filled with the best smells. I came in for lunch by myself and wasnt sure what to expect. This place was really nice. I heard the pizza was good and had to see for myself. It checked out! Note they are 1 size, so you will have left over pizza unless you're with others. The salad was great also, loved the house dressing. The server was efficient, and professional. Its a really nice place (men in suits everywhere) so I felt slightly under dressed. But it was noon on a Tuesday lol so I think my Nike apparel was fine. Overall, I would definitely go back and get the toasted ravs and a pasta.

While traveling through Missouri, my wife and I were looking for a place to have dinner. I searched Yelp and came across Anthonino's. I also remembered seeing it featured on the Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, so we figured it had to be worth a try. When we arrived, we were asked if we had a reservation. We didn't, but noticed a few open seats at the bar and asked if we could sit there instead. The two bartenders welcomed us right away and told us they would take good care of us throughout the evening. My wife ordered an iced tea, and I started with an Old Fashioned. For an appetizer, we ordered the Toasted Ravioli ($14), which is handmade in-house and filled with ground beef, ricotta, and pecorino romano cheese, served with marinara sauce. It's one of the dishes featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. For dinner, my wife ordered the Chicken Marsala ($23), and I went with the Bolognese ($17), made with veal, pork, red wine gravy, cresta di gallo pasta, stracciatella, and Calabrian chili oil. The toasted ravioli arrived looking great. I tried one without the sauce first. The fresh pasta didn't fry up quite the way I expected. It was more flaky than crispy, and I was hoping for a little more crunch. The filling was decent but could have used a bit more seasoning and flavor. The marinara sauce also had a bitterness to it that wasn't my favorite. When our entrées arrived, both dishes looked and smelled wonderful. Unfortunately, the flavors didn't quite live up to the presentation. My wife's Chicken Marsala had good flavor overall, but the side pasta was very gummy, and the sauce again had a bitter note that seemed to overpower the dish. My Bolognese was the biggest disappointment of the evening. When I think of Bolognese or a rich meat ragù, I usually expect a wider pasta such as pappardelle. The cresta di gallo pasta wasn't my favorite choice for the dish, and it also had a gummy texture. The sauce itself suffered from the same bitterness that we noticed throughout the meal. Looking back, I probably should have ordered the Carbonara once I realized the Bolognese wasn't being served with the type of pasta I was hoping for. Overall, the meal was okay, but it didn't quite meet the expectations we had after seeing the restaurant featured on television and reading the reviews. The service was excellent, and the bartenders did a fantastic job taking care of us. While this visit was a bit disappointing, there were plenty of other dishes on the menu that looked great, and I would be willing to give Anthonino's another try and order something different.
Went here for dinner and everything was really tasty! We had a reservation which was smooth and easy, it seemed to be pretty filled up on a Wednesday. The pizza was incredible and the homemade pesto was awesome. The server was really nice. It is nice place and you could wear a cute outfit on the inside it looks like a modern Italian restaurant.
Anthonino's was the culinary highlight of our trip to St Louis. Located well-outside of Downtown, it is located in a largely residential neighborhood. We had 6pm reservations and were seated on time but people without reservations faced a 2 hour wait. Make reservations! Upon entering, there is a hostess stand and small bar with seating extending to the back of the building. We had the first table so I can't comment on the full size. My son ordered a Bloody Mary and I had a Pinot Noir while we looked at menu. Bloody Mary was very good and the wine was pleasant. We started with Garlic Bread with Cheese. It was the only menu item I would not order again. Flavors did not come together. I ate my fair share so it was good. Just not great. We then shared a cheese pizza with provel. Elite crust and sauce! The crust had an amazing char and the sauce was deliciously nuanced. The cheese was very good, but most definitely not the star of the pie. Pasta Pomodoro was wonderful. House made pasta was excellent and the sauce was a perfect accompaniment. (Anthonino's really does sauces well!) I finished with tiramisu and I am so glad I did! Did I need it? No. Did I want it? Heck yeah! I think I will be wanting it every day for a long time to come! All of the staff were welcoming and friendly, while remaining efficient. Nice group of people. Took some out-of-town coworkers here for Italian based on all the glowing recommendations, and it did not disappoint! Online reservations were a breeze, and we were seated right away. The atmosphere is lovely, and the smell of fresh food as you walk in instantly sets the mood (just give yourself a few extra minutes for street parking). Our server, Cherish, was outstanding--warm, fast, and attentive. Everyone loved their meal, the food arrived quickly, and the toasted raviolis are an absolute must-try. Anthonino's Taverna was one of the highlights of our trip to St. Louis! The food was so good that we ate there twice during our visit. Every dish was delicious, the service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed. WOULD definitely recommend. Came by for a quick dinner after a long day of errands and shopping. We didn't have a reservation prior, which I would recommend especially for a Saturday evening (reservations made via SpotOn). We were able to get bar seating that night anyways and still had good experience. They had an extensive drink menu with so many different pastas, pizzas, appetizers, and sides to choose from. We started off with drinks, got Moscow Mule (9.4/10) & glass of Lambrusco (9.0/10), both of which were made very well, the bartenders seemed to have sufficient experience. For appetizers, we order the Toasted Ravioli and Kale Caesar Salad. The toasted ravioli was not too crunchy, which I actually liked. Most of the time, toasted raviolis are so flaming hot and crispy that its hard to taste the filling because it falls out, but this one wasn't that which I enjoyed (8.6/10). The Kale Caesar Salad was also good, just wished it came with a little more salad dressing, a problem which can be fixed (7.8/10). For our entrees, we order the Chicken Parmesan w/ side of Bolognese pasta and the Grilled Salmon Pasta w/ Alfredo Sauce. The chicken parmesan was cooked well, fresh, with amazing marinara, cheese, and parsley garnish (8.9/10). The Grilled Salmon Pasta comes in garlic butter sauce but we asked to replace with Alfredo sauce and it was the best decision we could have ever make. Their alfredo sauce is very authentic with ample cheese amount, tastes nothing like store bought alfredo which was great (9.4/10). Overall, the food had pretty great quaity. All in all, this restaurant was very good to us, service was on point. The food was definitely the best part of the experience. Pricing was not bad at all for the dishes we received, with adequate portioning. This is a great family-friendly restaurant if you have people from out of town and want a nice cozy Italian dinner. This might be my go-to for Italian if I have to choose again in the near future. read more
My family and I went on a Friday night after the holidays and they were booked but we were able to walk in with a 30 minute wait. The service from the bartender was excellent to the our server making us laugh. The food came out quickly and fresh. My chicken Parmesan was wonderful. Something about homemade marinara sauce just hits. All of their pizzas are 5+ and you cannot go wrong with it. I love how they keep the restaurant cute and decorative throughout the seasons. read more

WOW. Great atmosphere, great food, great service. Came in at about 8:30, 2 adults 5 kids. Total chaos. Our server Bailee, was so patient, helpful and pleasant our entire time. I ended up ordering the lasagna. WOW. PIPING hot (actually burned myself on the dish it came in, lol), so flavorful and tasty. Pasta cooked to perfection. I wish it had more meat, but delicious nonetheless. My friend ordered pasta con broccoli and said her dish was also delish. My daughters had meatball pasta, a cheese pita pizza and shrimp Alfredo. All dishes were devoured. I will DEFINITELY BE BACK, I can't wait to try a pizza!!!! read more

I was visiting St. Louis for the first time and I wanted to try foods that St. Louis was known for (according to online research) and toasted ravioli kept popping up. Being from the Bay Area in California, I had never heard of toasted ravioli so I added it to my itinerary. I found this place on Yelp and saw that Guy Fieri (another Bay Area native) had featured it on his show so I settled on Anthonino's. I walked over from the Botanical Garden on a Friday afternoon around 12pm so that I could get a better feel of the streets, locals, surrounding shops, and the Hill neighborhood. The area was very calm, clean, safe and had a sense of pride. I enjoyed the sights and sounds throughout the streets and by the time I arrived at the front door, I was super excited to eat. I was seated quickly at the bar and given a menu and water. The bar staff were friendly and pleasant to talk to and also took my order within a few minutes. The restaurant quickly filled up behind me and it was a lively environment. I really appreciated that the TVs had sports shows on (huge sports fan and was in town to visit Busch Stadium) so it gives you something to look at. I ordered the toasted ravioli and a tiramisu. As a solo traveler, I have to limit how much I can order so this was the perfect amount for me. The food was amazing and I wished that I could have tried more plates. The ravioli had great flavors and texture and the tiramisu was so creamy and fresh. I would definitely return if the opportunity presented itself. I have been meaning to go here for awhile but finally went for lunch. I highly recommend you get a reservation ahead of time if you can- especially if it's over the lunch rush. There was about a 45 min plus wait if you didn't want to sit at the bar. The restaurant was much longer than what I thought. What's cool about Anthonino's is they do greek, italian and pizza! Its hard to decide. We did a mixture! We started with the saganaki appetizer, which was fantastic. It wasn't the traditional style where its put on fire at your table and served as a block of cheese. It was sliced into strips and grilled. Really flavorful and salty. It comes with pita bread and tzatziki dipping sauce. I wanted more! I also got a house salad, which was really good but I should have asked for the dressing on the side. They put too much on. For my main- I had Beef Tortellini with pink sauce. It really fresh and homemade tasting. Others got a salad with gyros and the fish stew- everyone loved their meals! Service was fast and our waiter was helpful. Stopped here after it was recommended from a friend who was a local in St. Louis. The place did not disappoint!!! Great spot at "The Hill" with friendly service. It was good. Not fantastic. Service was great. The restaurant is big so bring everyone. We had two apps. Calamari and the artichoke hearts. The hearts are huge! I used the marinara from the calamari because I liked it better. They were good and very filling. The calamari was good with a nice crunch and tender. We ordered the Italian Salad. The dressing was way too salty and it was dressed too heavily. The lettuce was not right for an Italian salad. I had scampi. Cooked very well but too much sauce and not enough acid. My son loved the lasagna. The pesto pasta was fine but not fantastic. The restaurant has I think two bars and has a lot of seating. It's cozy and a great place for celebrating. One of the best lunches ever! The toasted raviolis were absolutely amazing. And the steak pasta special was perfectly cooked, seasoned, and portioned. First, our server was great. Sweet, knowledgeable and celebratory (as it was a birthday)! The space itself was busy, we had a 7 PM reservation and got sat about 7:20 so not too long of a wait. It's a pretty casual vibe, don't have to be too dressed up but you for sure can! Now the food: They can fry some good stuff. Ravioli and Mozzarella sticks were great. Cheese bread was okay, could've been a little crunchier for me. I ordered the garlic , chicken, spinach pizza. Delicious! I will say it was a tad soggy in spots but the reheat was on point! Good flavor. My love has the Carbonara, first time having it and it was great. They make their own pasta and you can tell it's made with consistency. read more

The pizza here was so good. I enjoyed it very much. The toasted ravioli that the area said we had to try, was not that great. It was literally a piece of ground patty inside a ravioli. No cheese or sauce or filling just a mini piece of meat. But the pizza awesome!! The service was great we went to pickup. The inside looked nice and plenty of seating. read more

Service was horrible. Long wait time on everything. Took a good 10-15 mins for a waitress to show up at our table. We placed order right away then. My husband ordered a well done burger but he got a burnt burger. I ordered a Primavera but i got a tomato/marianna sauce veggie pasta. At this point, we just wanted to eat and leave. Waited another 10-15 mins to get our bill. This was not the end. Two days later, our credit card alerted us that we tipped 46% on that bill. Checking to see if it was right. Had to call a manager to get things straight. We got over charged cos someone misunderstood the tip amount. read more
Came here for the first time with coworkers after work and I had heard really good things so I was excited. The place is pretty spacious! Small hiccup to start, I ordered a lemonade and it tasted really off, almost like there was something weird mixed in or maybe their machine was having an off day. I politely let the waitress know and she was super sweet about it, no issues switching me to something else. We got the toasted ravioli for the table and it was delicious! I had a salad and a pasta dish and the portion sizes were generous, I'd say maybe half our group finished their plates and the other half had leftovers to take home. The handmade pasta is very popular here. The place also had like a private party room with an event going on, so it's definitely a great spot for bigger gatherings too. The service was good. The food was ok. I'm from the west coast so food is much fresher where I live. We got the baked goat cheese and lasagna. The goat cheese was ok, very basic but I do love goat cheese. The lasagna was not to my liking but only because it was overpoweringly sausage. The noodles were good. In all fairness it was probably the best food we had while in St. Louis but imo that's not saying much. read more
When in St Louis the Hill is a must for every and any thing Italian. We stopped for lunch and the place was hopping. Our server Dimetri was amazing. He reviewed the menu with us and made suggestions. We decided on the roasted garlic pizza which was outstanding. Creamy garlicky and a fantastic cheese pull. The chicken and spinach were the perfect compliment to the pie. Lots of interior seating and some outdoor as well. Finding parking is the biggest challenge but worth the effort read more
