Amazing lunch at Antonio's Taverna was a pleasure. The food was fantastic and delicious. Calamari appetizer with grilled bread is exceptional! Not fried, but sautéed with a light red sauce really surprised me. Salad and soup, house with light vinaigrette and Avgolemino were both great. Nonna's Ragu and Grilled Salmon Pasta both excelled. Came here with a friend on a Wednesday night. I was shocked at how busy it was. When we sat at our table, our waitress was super sweet and attentive. We got our bread and appetizer pretty quickly. We got the appetizer of the goat cheese and pita it was so delicious. I got the pasta con broccoli, and it was pretty good. The lasagna seemed like it took longer to cook and came out Piping hot where my pasta con broccoli wasn't necessarily hot. The lasagna came out a cute dish, which was cool. One of our favorite restaurants on The Hill! Everyone is so friendly and accommodating. They absolutely love dogs on their patio and even partner with Ciao Chow pet store to provide your pups with "Toasted Ravioli" treats! Their food is fantastic! I used the marinara from the calamari because I liked it better. They were good and very filling. The calamari was good with a nice crunch and tender. We ordered the Italian Salad. The dressing was way too salty and it was dressed too heavily. The lettuce was not right for an Italian salad. I had scampi. Cooked very well but too much sauce and not enough acid. WOULD definitely recommend. Came by for a quick dinner after a long day of errands and shopping. We didn't have a reservation prior, which I would recommend especially for a Saturday evening (reservations made via SpotOn). We were able to get bar seating that night anyways and still had good experience. They had an extensive drink menu with so many different pastas, pizzas, appetizers, and sides to choose from. We started off with drinks, got Moscow Mule (9.4/10) & glass of Lambrusco (9.0/10), both of which were made very well, the bartenders seemed to have sufficient experience. For appetizers, we order the Toasted Ravioli and Kale Caesar Salad. The toasted ravioli was not too crunchy, which I actually liked. Most of the time, toasted raviolis are so flaming hot and crispy that its hard to taste the filling because it falls out, but this one wasn't that which I enjoyed (8.6/10). The Kale Caesar Salad was also good, just wished it came with a little more salad dressing, a problem which can be fixed (7.8/10). For our entrees, we order the Chicken Parmesan w/ side of Bolognese pasta and the Grilled Salmon Pasta w/ Alfredo Sauce. The chicken parmesan was cooked well, fresh, with amazing marinara, cheese, and parsley garnish (8.9/10). The Grilled Salmon Pasta comes in garlic butter sauce but we asked to replace with Alfredo sauce and it was the best decision we could have ever make. Their alfredo sauce is very authentic with ample cheese amount, tastes nothing like store bought alfredo which was great (9.4/10). Overall, the food had pretty great quaity. All in all, this restaurant was very good to us, service was on point. The food was definitely the best part of the experience. Pricing was not bad at all for the dishes we received, with adequate portioning. This is a great family-friendly restaurant if you have people from out of town and want a nice cozy Italian dinner. My family and I went on a Friday night after the holidays and they were booked but we were able to walk in with a 30 minute wait. The service from the bartender was excellent to the our server making us laugh. The food came out quickly and fresh. My chicken Parmesan was wonderful. The wait was terrible on a Friday at 5:15. I thought we would beat the rush but we were waiting for an hour and fifteen minutes. The service and atmosphere was great and the chicken parmesean I got was delicious. The pasta on the side was a little underwhelming. I think they could do better with the freshness of their ingredients. It feels like they just make the sauce and pasta in a big batch and store it for a while. The chicken parmesean was a good size serving but I was disappointed in the amount of chicken served. It is pretty thin, would like it a little thicker or have another small one added to the plate. Small hiccup to start, I ordered a lemonade and it tasted really off, almost like there was something weird mixed in or maybe their machine was having an off day. I had a salad and a pasta dish and the portion sizes were generous, I'd say maybe half our group finished their plates and the other half had leftovers to take home. For an appetizer we ordered the toasted ravioli. It was crispy and delicious (might be the best I've had in St. Louis!) Loved the cheese in the maraina sauce. The gyro pizza was unique, really interesting with the feta and pizza cheese. I probably wouldn't order the pizza again though. Then we also tried all the deserts: gelato, cheesecake and cannoli. Its hard to decide. We did a mixture! We started with the saganaki appetizer, which was fantastic. It wasn't the traditional style where its put on fire at your table and served as a block of cheese. It was sliced into strips and grilled. Really flavorful and salty. It comes with pita bread and tzatziki dipping sauce. I wanted more! I also got a house salad, which was really good but I should have asked for the dressing on the side. They put too much on. For my main- I had Beef Tortellini with pink sauce. It really fresh and homemade tasting. Others got a salad with gyros and the fish stew- everyone loved their meals! Service was fast and our waiter was helpful. WOW. Great atmosphere, great food, great service. Came in at about 8:30, 2 adults 5 kids. Total chaos. Our server Bailee, was so patient, helpful and pleasant our entire time. I ended up ordering the lasagna. WOW. PIPING hot (actually burned myself on the dish it came in, lol), so flavorful and tasty. Pasta cooked to perfection. A patron would be comfortable and welcomed wearing anything from a suit to a sweatshirt - it is casual yet elegant. The menu was two pages - mostly Italian type fare but also had burgers and whatnot. Anthonino's Taverna is my go to Italian restaurant lately. I have learned that no matter what day of the week or what time, you should definitely get a reservation! When my mom is in town last time, we went for a dinner date and while waiting for our table, sat at the bar to enjoy a cocktail. The bartender was helpful and talked with my mom about some of the drinks that she might like to try. He ended up creating a fizzy cocktail for her that she really enjoyed as it was not too strong and not too sweet. I can't remember what it was, but it was refreshing which is all that matters. For dinner, we usually start with an appetizer and then choose a pasta dish with seafood (the clams and scallops are always a great pick). The salads are refreshing and just the right size and the bread they bring out is usually warm and tasty. The butter, on the other hand, is usually too cold to spread. Service has always been fantastic and the food has been tasty each and every time we visit. We don't always order dessert, but if we do, it's usually the cannoli to share. If you don't want to order the traditional Italian dishes, they also offer a few Greek dishes so this place is a win-win if you are looking for something with both options. They have a small sidewalk patio during the warmer patio months and can be a lot of fun. They also allow dogs outside with patio seating, so this is another dog friendly choice when I want to bring my little guy along for a date. read more

Two friends and I went to Anthonino's for an early Friday nite dinner in Feb 2026. We tried three different meals and an appetizer. The appetizer was excellent, I've tried toasted ravs at any number of places on the Hill so we ordered an app plate of them while we waited for our last friend to join us. The ravs were delicious, toasted to perfection, not greasy, the filling was hot but not scalding. The marinara dipping sauce was kind of bland but that was fine as it didn't overpower the ravs' flavor. For dinner I tried a salmon & pasta dish, the salmon fillet was excellent. The pasta was very good and while I finished the fillet I could not finish the pasta. One friend had the salmon entree and was rewarded with 2 salmon filets and a side dish. [Admittedly I made a tactical error and should have done with the entree and taken the 2nd filet home.] Don said his salmon filets were great. Our last friend tried a basic Italian plate, it was so basic I didn't even recall that dish but she really enjoyed the dish. I've never had a bad meal here and I've been coming to Anthonino's at least 15 years for biz meals and dates. We did sit in a booth in the main bar area so I would say that was pretty noisy, hence the 4 instead of 5 stars. If you're on a date you should opt for the rear dining area or weather permitting in the outdoor seating. I had bottled Mich Ultra, my friend had T&Ts (Tanguaray & Tonic), and my other friend had a draft beer. I do recommend the place and really wanted a dessert but couldn't talk the others into it. read more

One thing that I learned from my trip to St. Louis is that it has a very big Italian restaurant presence. Most of those restaurants are located on The Hill which is a neighborhood. Anthonino's Taverna was my last meal while in town and I wound up saving the best for last. I had dinner there on a Thursday night and arrived without a reservation but only had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. This restaurant has a lot of inside seating along with outside seating too. Add a full bar and this restaurant gets loud. Don't expect a quiet romantic kind of dinner experience here. I ordered the Tutti Mare entree for $19 and added a house salad for another $7. The complimentary bread and olive oil basket arrived shortly after. It was very good bread and so I had to remember to not eat too much of it. Then the salad arrived with romaine, red bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, pepperoncini, olives, cucumber and feta cheese with Greek dressing. It was a very good tasting salad made with fresh ingredients. Shortly after that the main dish appeared. The clams, squid, shrimp and mussels bathed in olive oil garlic butter sauce over spaghetti pasta that is house made. There was plenty of seafood in this meal and for $19 it was a steal. The olive oil with garlic butter sauce was delicious but the star of the show was the pasta. Absolutely perfect! I went to Rome and Florence last year and the pasta quality was by far the best I've ever had. This pasta was the best pasta that I have had since then. Perfectly cooked and the taste was legit. It turned this meal from a 4 score to a 5. Even though I was stuffed after this meal, I think I could have eaten another bowl of just the pasta. It was that good. Bree was my server and did a fine job. Anthonino's is an excellent restaurant with a lively atmosphere. We finally made it back to Anthonino's & we loved every minute of it! We went on a Tuesday around 2:00pm. We took an Uber from downtown & were able to get dropped off right out front. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. There was about a 15 minute wait for a table (it was one of the first warm weather days so everyone was out for lunch that day). So we put our names down & grabbed a seat at the bar. We both ordered a drink & by the time we took our first sip our table was ready. We were able to sit in Christina's section & she took the best care of us. We started with fresh mozzarella sticks & toasted ravioli. The last time we were here the toasted ravioli was my favorite thing I had.... However the fresh mozz sticks took the No.1 spot this trip. They were perfectly crispy on the outside & had the perfect cheese pull. We also wanted to try something new so we ordered the Gyro pizza. It was SO good. The gyro meat was perfectly spiced & tender. All the toppings complimented each other. I told my boyfriend I could have stayed there all day. It's such a cozy vibe with incredible & friendly service. Before we left I popped into the ladies restroom which had 2 stalls & was very clean. If you get the chance to visit this place, GO! You won't regret it. read more

First, I absolutely love the ambience of this place. It was wide open, and the noise level was where you could hear everyone talking. There was no music playing, just the happy hum of folks enjoying a nice meal out. LeAnne was our waitress, and she was awesome. She really took the time to explain things, and offer the perfect recommendations from appetizers all the way through the entrée. First, obviously, we had to have the toasted ravioli. The marinara sauce was not chunky, it was smooth. What a wonderful sauce. You could tell the ravioli was fresh, and homemade. We then tried the Italian salad, and House salad. The heirloom cherry tomatoes were as fresh as if it was in August. We tried the Fettuccini Alfredo with shrimp, and it was wonderful. Four large, fresh shrimp. I had the Steak Mudiga, and I can honestly say it was the best meal I've had in a long time. It literally made me smile. The butter white wine sauce had a hint of lemon, and it was absolutely delectable.
