First time here with a friend for dinner. The inside is actually really nice with a homey feeling with dim lighting and atmosphere. It leans more toward fine dining than casual, but you don't need to dress up for it. Our waiter was super young which was kind of funny but he was really nice. I got the classic spaghetti and meatballs and it hit the spot exactly, the portion size was generous too. The cocktails are also really good. They bring out bread at the start, which is a nice bonus. Overall a really good experience, I recommend it.
We have been here a couple times. The first time was fine when it came to service. There was some confusion when it came to my partner's gluten allergy and we had to send some food back. I'm leaving this review for our experience last night. The wait for Mamas- our favorite spot, was much longer than expected so we walked down the street to try out Lorenzo's again, which had no wait. We were sat pretty quickly but took a while to see our waiter. My immediate impression of him was that he came off as very rude and rushed. As we were already ready to order, it seemed like we were wasting his time. I asked a simple question if my pasta would come with anything and he seemed bothered by it. As we're waiting a bit for our food and drinks, the hostess was preparing a table right behind us and our waiter YELLED at her telling her not to seat anyone else. This encounter was very unprofessional and made us feel uncomfortable. I have a feeling this isn't the first time he's treated other staff like this. The lady who brought out our food and was very sweet and gentle compared to our waiter which was a fresh of breath air. Our waiter came back only to speak very shortly and rudely to us. He stood there without a word holding the bill open as we're clearly still checking the receipt. The food and drinks were good but service was unacceptable, especially for the money we spent ($95 for two people). We unfortunately will not be back and I recommend anyone go to Mama's down the street instead.
A strong experience with delicious dishes around the table that did not break the bank. Parking is entirely off street, but free. The dining room is a beautifully appointed Italian that's fitting of The Hill. White table clothes and candies on each table. Although our server was very nice we unfortunately had a slow down of attention toward the end. Possibly due to we were not drinking, but it was noticeable. Although we got an initial follow up and one round water refill our water was gone through most of our dinner. I regret the review is tardy and I cannot recall the pasta special I got, I enjoyed. Others had lasagna, pizza and spaghetti with meatballs. The portion sizes were more than adequate and came with bread. I would return and recommend reservations on Open Table. 4 plus, rounding down with slight service slow down.
Came here for Dinner on a Saturday. Glad we had a reservation, others we would have not been able to eat dinner here. Ordered Caprese as a side and shared it with my husband as an appetizer. It was outstanding, like the capers on it. fir the main course we ordered veal piccata which was delicious, my husband ordered the Angel-hair pasta with grilled chicken, he stated that it was the best pasta he had in a long time. We also had a glass of Chianti, which was also amazing. Overall great experience and would definitely come back!
Wow! Start with the mussels for an appetizer - light wine sauce and fresh diced tomatoes. Next we had a Cesar salad with delightful Parmesan cheese baked crisps. My dinner partner's medallions were cooked perfectly. My salmon was flavorful and moist - served over a delicious tortellini. Everything was tasty. Service was friendly and prompt.
This was my first time trying Lorenzo's and was pleasantly surprised. The service was top notch, with really attentive wait staff. My partner and I did not have many needs but we were sat next to a table of elders who did, and it was touching to see how well they were treated. The fettuccine Alfredo was nice and creamy, a very generous portion that I had to toss in a to go box at the end of the night (reheated well btw). The Arancini was not my favorite, as the rice taste almost like instant rice. As for ambiance, it was a classic Italian vibe!
My daughter and I started out with bread that was not warm, which is surprising. These days, a lot of places make you pay for bread, which is disheartening, so this was a plus anyway that they offered us bread, albeit cold. We ordered a bottle of Amarone and enjoyed it with the whole meal. For starters, we ordered the polenta with Italian sausage between the two of us. We could only exclaim about how creamy the polenta was. It was extremely hearty, with some vegetables and thinly sliced Italian sausage. I'm glad that the Italian sausage was thinly sliced because otherwise it would have been overpowering for my palette. The next dish that my daughter had was technically a Caprese salad, which was tomato and mozzarella. She didn't like the red onion, but had asked for balsamic vinegar on the side, which she added to the salad, and when I tried the balsamic vinegar, even I realized that it is one of the best that I have ever had. My daughter went with the gnocchi, and said that it was among the best that she had ever had. We shared a veal and mushroom risotto between the two of us, and it was perfectly moist, the veal was not overpowering, and it was perfectly cooked. The veal just simply melted in the mouth. My osso buco came on a saffron risotto, and the osso buco was fantastic, tender, and simply delightful. I enjoyed the marrow very much, but I almost wished that the dish came with polenta, not risotto. However, it was still magnificent. We took dessert to go, because we couldn't finish everything at all. However, this is definitely not going to be the last time we come here. The ambience was fantastic, very intimate, darkly lit, but still noisy, with people having fun here. Our service was top of the line, with great humor. Give this place a try. You won't be upset, neither will you regret it. Our compliments to the chef, staff, and owner. What a home run.
A group of seven had dinner there on Sunday night. We had an elderly person with us who prefers dining earlier so we had made a reservation for 5:30. We were greeted and led to a table right away. The hostess helped us get my MIL seated and stored her walker for us. We were at a round table, which I prefer for that sized group. Our server came over and introduced herself and asked for drink orders. She was great and provided good service throughout our meal. We all enjoyed our food! The timing of each course was perfect. I only took a photo of my food, but everyone's entrees looked delicious! There seemed to be quite a bit of seating there and it was full. There were people waiting for tables as we left. I would recommend a reservation! We'd definitely go back!
The food was amazing, incredibly authentic and high quality. The service was amazing, the wait staff was quick and attentive the whole meal. The restaurant is beautiful, my party had around 11 people and they held a beautiful private room. Overall the quality, was amazing.
The reason for that three star is due to the different flavors of what was Avery clear Northern Italian cuisine as well as the food coming out a bit cold. The service was absolutely amazing, it was just understanding that the flavors are mush more different than what we expected for Italian food. I do want to try this again, but go in with different expectations for the food and flavors. I really enjoyed the bread and the Caesar salad but my family wasn't a huge fan of the salad.
Absolutely another great place on "The Hill"! Family owned and good is fresh, portions are very generous and taste and quality is what you expect when you go to a real Italian family restaurant. Antonio was absolutely amazing and took great care of us and his recommendation on the house salad was great! Amazing salad and he had the chef make me chicken parm which is NOT on the menu but is my staple meal! The cannolis were outstanding as well! Full bar! Definitely a must hit place!
Lorenzo's does provide great service when you are needing to host a small group. I have been here on work outings previously but my most recent experience was for a friend's surprise birthday dinner. They reserved a small room that was just perfect. Our waitress was great. She was mindful of our coordination with the arrival of the birthday girl while still trying to make sure we all had placed beverage orders. There were 11 of us in total. Orders were all correct and delivered to table in a timely manner. Many of us started with the house salad which I like. I then enjoyed the seafood pasta although my shrimp were over cooked everything else was great. Portions are large so a few of us needed take away boxes. They had 2 specials that evening which I cannot recall other than one was meat and one was swordfish. Sorry about that. Good wine selection with beer and spirits available as well.
The food here is excellent. We got the arancini and goat cheese ravioli to share and those were flavourful and tasty! I got their specialty "surf and turf' which was a rib eye steak with grilled shrimp on top with asparagus and potatoes on the side. I've never had potatoes like they made it, they were so interesting looking and tasted different from potatoes I've had before, very good though! The steak was the highlight, very tender, cooked perfectly medium, and enough seasoning to bring out the taste of the steak. The asparagus were good too! I loved how homey the restaurant felt and the waiters were all so nice and patient and kind. Everything was served promptly.

Each Christmas season I visit St. Louis we go to Lorenzo's! We went recently on Christmas Eve and it was fantastic. I know there are a lot of great Italian restaurants on The Hill, but this is a good favorite, esp for northern italian dishes. It was packed, but the service moved fast!! Like I was shocked how quickly the kitchen was turning around dishes. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. For appetizers we got the calamari and the grilled shrimp scampi. My favorite was the calamari- it had zucchini and spinach with a tomato saffron sauce. The Grilled shrimp scampi was good, but a different take on it than one would think. It wasn't garlic and buttery, but had white bean spread, arugula, peppers etc. We also got a fish soup (special) and Caesar Salad. Caesar salad had parmesan crisps underneath- great flavor!! The main dishes we got were the Sea Bass (special), Chicken Spedini, Grilled Barramundi, and the Potato Gnocchi. I tried all of them, which were good. Star of the show: Chicken Spedini - chicken breast breaded and stuffed with spinach and a flavorful pasta on the bottom with asparagus. Highly recommend!!! For dessert, we spilt a creme brulee and espresso martini, which were both excellent!! Great pairing. As always we will be back here. Overall experience 5/5. read more

Lorenzo Trattoria is one place I tried at the Hill. I came with high expectations. It is more casual than I expected. Service is okay -- Not fantastic and a little slow. I tried the Calf's liver ($30). The flavor of the balsamic reduction sauce is really good, but it's a bit heavier or chewy than expected. Portions are huge. It is alright -- Not exactly my cup of tea. read more
We had a reservation for 8 on Father's Day. Making the reservation was a breeze and staff were very friendly. The food came out incredibly fast and was delicious. As a vegetarian, there weren't too many options for me but the spaghetti was flavorful and probably the best I've had in St. Louis. Will be back! read more

Everything at Lorenzo's is special. This Italian gem on the Hill consistently turns out authentic northern Italian recipes. It's our 'go to' around the Christmas holidays, and I would say the perfect blend of white tablecloth restaurant and a place with a family feel. You are greeted at the door immediately, and our party took a seat on the bench in the wait area while our table was prepared (we were early for our reservations). Once seated, the service was top notch, and we were not rushed as we ordered drinks, sampled appetizers and enjoyed our entrees. I saw that gluten-free pasta was offered and was pleased that it tasted great. Chicken spedini never disappointments. Veal Milanese is light and also loved the grilled shrimp appetizer. A big hit was the polenta served as a side to one of the fish dishes. It was grilled and quite tasty! Highly recommend for any special occasion. Parking is on the street but I've never had trouble getting a spot on the Hill. read more

We had the absolute best experience here last Saturday. Being that it was the weekend before Christmas and VERY busy and we didn't have a reservation, I had set the bar relatively low for this experience. We were immediately impressed by the hostess who had a table for us right away. My husband and I were quickly seated and our waiter Irvin came and took our drink order. He recommended a delicious entree with a pasta that wasn't on the menu. Everyone was prompt, water was always full, food was hot and delicious. The busses was kind and on top of his job. I was just incredibly impressed with the experience! In a world of sub par restaurant experiences and overpriced meals, we had an above average experience with fantastic food and excellent service. Make sure to check out Lorenzo's, you will not be disappointed!! read more

I can't say enough about the food and the service. This place is absolutely amazing. I had the chicken spedini and it was delicious. We all shared the tiramisu, crème brûlée, and the bread pudding. They were all so amazing. read more

This is an excellent special occasion restaurant. It has a low lighting ambiance with candles on the table.the food and service is good- they had a "plethora" of servers so we did not have to wait for anything. Also, we were not rushed through our meal.drinks were good, food was good, and service was excellent. Their prices are reflected in the excellent service and food. We had a person with special dietary needs, and they were able to accommodate without any issues. read more

I'm pretty sure they do. I was a walk-in but it's a pretty popular spot . I'd be surprised if they didn't !
