Ehhh. This was my 2nd time trying this restaurant because I thought I had a good experience the 1st time. My entire experience did not feel welcoming considering the restaurant's reputation. I decided to call in my order for pickup and was told I couldn't order a kids meal; that the child had to dine-in to receive it. Lol, fine. I proceed to order something else and ask for the total. I was put on hold, never to be spoken to again. Since it was pickup, I go inside. Before I see the receptionist, me and a staff person lock eyes and she literally turns around as to avoid me. No greeting, no smile, it's like I didn't exist. I tell the receptionist I had called in and she never returned to the call for my total. She goes to get someone--who takes an additional 7mins--to provide me the ticket. Then, she grabs her purse behind the counter and vanishes, never to be seen again. Maybe no one in this restaurant cared to see me. Idk, but the energy was repelling. The restaurant wasn't too busy, very clean. Food was ok. I ordered calamari, pizza, and a salad, paid $52. I love calamari, so it wasn't the best tasting to me. However, there's an orange sauce that accompanies the dish and it's so good! This is a family owned business with another location. Maybe I need to give the other spot a try before I give up, but I probably won't return otherwise.

Dirty Martini (empty) and house red wine (montepulciano) so nice, beautiful, cozy bar area.

Love this place! The newly remodeled bar is beautiful. The staff are always respectful, professional, and friendly. We came in for a couple drinks. They make a really good martini, I like mine with their hand stuffed blue cheese olives. Their house red wine is a montepulciano which is very good. We ordered an appetizer of their handmade meatballs, served on a thin bed of ricotta cheese topped with their delicious marinara. They were perfect! Can't wait to return!

The food has always been exceptional here, but this trip was an exception to the rule. The dinner special of stuffed sole on risotto tasted over cooked and starchy. My husband's scallops and risotto tasted much better. The carrot cake was delightful for dessert. Our waiter was very good. We enjoyed the cloth table cloths and napkins.

The layout of the restaurant was very warm and inviting. The seats were comfortable, even after a long Saturday run. *Bonus: clean bathroom!!!! Food: The calamari was just right texture wise, flavor lacking but the sauce was great. A solid 3.5/ 5 My eggplant parmesan was very tasty and flavorful, the pasta it came with was very bland and that was disappointing with an Italian restaurant. But overall 3/5. I also tried the cannoli and presentation 5/5, but taste was where I was disappointed 2.5/5, it was just ok nothing to right home about and I was sad about the unsatisfactory in the calories consumed. But all is well in that regard. Overall experience was not bad. When I entered the restaurant I was over 20 mins early and was seat immediately regardless, which was great. The waiter was pleasant, but it was my first visit and I nearly felt rushed to order being asked my order immediately upon sitting down. Regarding pauses and asking if someone has been there before could go a long way. Final take I would possibly visit again, maybe or maybe not; the Italian restaurant market here is solid enough that not returning would not mean anything. But If I did I would have to order a totally different meal mid and and mediocre is the same and since I can cook very well, especially Italian food....when I eat it out I want it to be above a 3 or 3.5 honestly.

Bartolino's is one the best Italian restaurants on the Hill. In business in the area for 60 years, they have perfected recipes that go back decades! The pizza is an untold secret and highlight of the restaurant! You gotta get one for dine in or take out. It's the best thin crust pizza in Missouri! This visit I kept it simple and had a dish not even on the menu which they created and serve to one customer who requests it every time she is there. I call it The Laura Dish, it's simple 2 grilled chicken breasts and steamed broccoli. The chicken breast is moist and delicious, the broccoli is large sprigs s some of the most perfect prepared steamed broccoli I have ever had. I'm not sure what they do but I wish I knew, to replicate it at home! The maître d' and the servers are professional, kind and attentive, without being overly attentive. The ambience is nice and always clean and well lit. The bathrooms are always spotless. They also have a live band on Sundays and people even dance and have a good time.

"Chicken spiedini" with a side of white sauce pasta

On a whim, I came here with a friend after trying to find something for dinner. We were a bit worried as the parking lot was full, but noticed there were several tables available upon entry. We were promptly seated and had someone come fill our glasses with water. Shortly after the server arrived and I asked him whether the rose' listed was flat or sparkling. He seemed unsure but said it was sparkling. I ordered it and indeed it was not sparkling. The next time he came around, I notified him that it was flat and asked to switch to Prosecco instead. He was happy to accommodate. What shocked me was this was now the second time I was given a sparkling beverage served in the wrong glass. Don't get me wrong, by no means am I a wine snob, but I definitely know which glass goes with the which. Moving on, I went with the chicken spiedini for my main and chose the white sauce pasta as my side. My date chose the cannelloni. It wasn't long until our food arrived and unfortunately, this was the catalyst that led to the downfall of our evening. I noticed the spiedini was unlike any I had ever had before since it was stuffed with tomato and cheese. It tasted off and I ended up not caring for it at all. My date's cannelloni was good but he tapped out as he got full rather quickly. To sum up the evening, it was just ok. Oh, I forgot to mention the ac wasn't working, so it was hot as all get out. I'll give props where they're due to the girls who were great at refilling the waters. Aside from that, the food was a disappointment and the service was ok but didn't wow me.

The newly remodeled Bartolino's is only rivaled by the warmth you feel when greeting by the Saracino family members and the delicious cuisine. Linda greeted us with a smile and hug before we were seated, then had the opportunity to chat with Bart, and Anthony came out of the kitchen to say hello! Our server Ben was awesome. We started a few cocktails and added a Titus Cab with dinner. To start we had the wedge, house, and Caesar salads. Our entrees included the grouper/shrimp special on a bed of couscous, eggplant Parmesan on angel hair pasta with a meatball, and the pasta combination. Everything was delicious! If you haven't been here recently, it is an absolute must! The same wonderful food and family with a newly brightened, classy, modern surrounding!

Read the article on the renovations and was excited. Note: not all of it has been renovated. We were seated in a small room with old stackable chairs in a room that hadn't been touched. The rest of the place looked great. We ate in what felt like a cafeteria. I called first before making the reservation and asked about gluten free options. Was told no problem. Showed up for Mother's Day dinner and the entire menu was different. Nothing gluten free. Not even an option for white, red, or butter noodles as the side. Just "rosé" whatever that is. Food was really great. Server was great. Ambiance was crap. And for what it cost,we won't return.

Thursday evening Feb 12 2026 Tommasi wine dinner. Arrived around 6:15 pm, dinner at 7pm, passed hor'deorves at 6:20pm. Dinner started with appetizer paired with wine, risotto next with wine pairing, brussel sprouts salad with wine pairing, dinner was Lamb chops with wine pairing, and tiramisu for dessert with prosecco wine pairing. Everything was delicious and plenty of different wines. So much wine I spaced out and forgot to take pictures of the entree and dessert but here are the first three courses. Service from Bri and Melissa was phenomenal. With about 45 people in attendance the room and atmosphere was quaint and sociable

Enjoying dinner at Bartolino's after meeting Mr Barrolino himself.

This was our first visit after the restaurant was remodeled. It was our monthly dinner out with our County friends (my wife's college friend and her spouse). The food was amazing . The pasta combination dish was in a red sauce but could be in any of the 3 other sauces available. A Bolognese sauce was my second choice. The dish came out hot and filled to the top of the pasta bowl. The pasta was plentiful inside There were ravioli, spaghetti noodles rigatoni a few large shell noodles and a few meatballs to top it off. The amount of food was great. We had leftovers and still had plenty of food. It was nice meeting Mr Bartolino at the hostess station very much a welcoming gesture. Thank you. The food was awesome very flavorful and lots of choices pasta fish and chicken. I would have given this review a 5 but we had a full glass of wine dumped on my wife but did get a new glass and not charged for it. It was a weird way it happened. There was music that night in the bar. Tom Kelly was playing this night and also coming on the 26th Last year we heard at the bar Football great Jackie Smith singing. A pretty good voice and surprisingly so. I did not know he sang. . You have to visit Bartolino's on the Hill and experience a treat and even catch Jackie Smith sing some ballads. Come hungry!.

We loved the food, and the service was terrific. The beverages were good as were the prices.

I was taught by brother that you should book your first dinner reservation as after flying all day, one is tired, and not able to make good decisions...hence eating at a TGI Fridays in New Orleans on our first night. The only thing that tricked us was the Toasted Ravioli. It has meat in it, and my wife is vegetarian. The Arancini was terrific and the table bread was also quite tasty. My wife had the Manicotti and I had the Chicken Lemonata. So great. The bottle of the house Gitto's Red was the perfect wine as well. The vibe inside was warm, cozy, and sophisticated. There is also a small patio area that seemed to have a much different vibe. We were seated in a busy area of the restaurant, so there was frequent traffic passing by our table, which took away from the vibe a bit. It didn't bother us but I can see how it could bother others. Everyone we interacted with from the hostess to our waiter Brian and the other servers passing by our table, was friendly and welcoming. The manager even stopped to chat with us while we waited for our Uber. Now for the food, we started with the toasted ravioli we had heard so much about and it was good. For the main dish, we went with the lobster spaghetti which was one of the day's specials. The portion size was generous making it the perfect dish to share with my son. The dish was filled with lobster, shrimp, and other seafood, all tossed in a rich buttery sauce. We both really enjoyed it. Even though we were full from dinner, we didn't want to leave without trying dessert so we took a slice of carrot cake back to the hotel. It made a great late night snack. The cake was moist and the cream cheese icing was delicious. Overall, this is a nice spot for an Italian dinner.

As for the food, it was solid Italian but I wouldn't call it "authentic", but more Americanized Italian fare (albeit the toasted raviolis were as good as advertised).
